Thai food from a food truck. Say what?! At first I was skeptical about getting a full-fledged meal from a food truck. Usually I stick to fries, tacos, burgers, sandwiches...anything more portable that doesn't require utensils. However, I must admit I was pleasantly surprised by Coat & Thai. The Tofu Pad See Ew and Chicken Pad Thai were delicious and freshly cooked. The portions were appropriate for the price. My only complaint is that it took nearly 30 minutes for my order to be ready! Came here for a quick dinner before a concert. Ordered the Pad See Ew with chicken. Food took almost thirty minutes to be prepared, so so much for that quick dinner. The food was good at least. I'm a huge fan of food trucks. This one was pretty yummy. I loved the thai coffee. It totally hit the spot that day. I had some chicken and noodle dish that was yummy and my friend had a spicy coconut something that was really flavorful. I would def eat here again to try another dish. read more

Very hit or miss ... Sometimes it's really good and sometimes it's really really greasy. Don't get me wrong it's a nice place to try, but for the price. I can live without it. The fact that it's like playing Russian roulette with your stomach isn't fun, but that's my opinion. read more

My husband and I stopped to eat dinner here on a Friday night. The wait was a good 25-30 minutes for food, I mean we were warned the wait would be a while but it took a little longer than expected. I ordered the pad se ewe. The hubs ordered pad thai. Chicken was a little dry in both dishes, but other than that it was pretty good. Not too expensive either. We had spring rolls also and they were yummy. If you don't mind the busy crowds grubbing around you, and don't mine the wait for food, check out Coat and Thai. I haven't tried many of the other trucks in the food court so I can't say how it compares! read more

As the other members of my party opted for po-boys chockfull of all kinds of former sea life, I finally settled for this trailer after wandering around for a good ten minutes. It seemed to be one of the more vegan-friendly choices as and I decided on the Pad Kee Mao with tofu. Perhaps not the wisest decision in retrospect as everyone else hastily devoured their sandwiches before I even received my Styrofoam box of oily noodles. It was cooked as extra spicy/one chili pepper, but truth be told, my mouth and stomach burned a bit after a few bites - not such a wonderful sensation on a warm "spring" Texas day. And the stuff was quite salty, oh god, did I forget to specify no fish sauce? The portion was quite all right for $6.95 and the tofu amount wasn't too measly, however, the mushrooms were barely present, as expected. Overall, not terribly disappointing, but as someone who has had a massive amount of Thai food in her lifetime, I don't think this would warrant a re-visit from me. read more

I ordered the pad see ew and was a little disappointed. I was so craving Asian food at this point of my trip to Austin so I was excited to see this Thai food truck. I think i just ordered wrong. I wanted an Asian taste but I felt it was lacking in that brown sauce. Not a huge fan unfortunately. Convenient location in the Barton food truck park. But I base my Thai reviews mostly on Panang Curry and this place didn't have that dish!! :-O The next closest thing per the cashier was the red curry and though not bad - it was more watery and not as spicy as I like. This place is ok. Just that. I think everything is priced $1 or $2 too high and it tastes fine but like others have said - it's underwhelming. I was out on First Thursday so the wait time for food was long but reasonable considering every food truck was spinning its wheels to get orders out as fast as possible. My problem is that I ordered soup and it took 20 minutes to call my number. I highly doubt they were making the soup from scratch but I don't really know for certain. Overall, Touch of Fire is significantly better and it's just down the road. read more

I LOVE their Pad Thai and Pineapple Fried Rice! The best in town. I've been here more times than I can count and have never been disappointed with their food. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is sometimes they are closed when they should be open, per their hours, and that is always annoying if you drive there. (Now, I just call first.) It was fresh and hot with lots of fresh veggies and a delight to sit in the middle of the SOCO district and watch Austin walk by. This was also my first experience with food trucks... and I must say it was pretty good for what I expected. While I'm sure that there is better Thai in the area...this wasn't too bad. read more

I don't know if it was the fact that I was literally starving, or just the fact that I am incredibly lucky, but this was genuinely some of the BEST Pad Kee Mao I've ever had. And that says something because I'm serious about my Pad Kee Mao! I got it with tofu, and the veggies and noodles in there were all just seasoned and cooked to absolute perfection. my goodness. i ordered one bowl of tom-yum shrimp and waited for almost 30 mins for it to be done. i understand that they're busy, but sheesh, isn't soup usually already made and just needed to be kept warm? when you first look at it, you can see a layer of lemon grass floating on top, then as you stir and mix, there's a few piece of shrimp and mushrooms. broth was very sour and spicy. like how it's suppose to be. but the amount of lemon grass was overwhelming. read more

I'm really bummed that they moved locations (owner of the property sold the land so a hotel could be built). Their old location was walking distance from my friend's place and I always enjoyed all the food they brought back to the apt. After having dinner at Sway and was very disappointed in their food, I made my way over to Coat and Thai right before they closed and ordered some basil fried rice. It was delicious.
