I ordered the pad peanut sauce with tofu and rice, along with the pad kee mao. The food was pretty good, with reasonable portion sizes. It was served quickly, though the service could have been a bit better.

In the food truck park near Zilker and Barton Springs, conveniently located if you want to keep the spirit of a picnic-style type of day. Please note this rating is for food trucks, and not to be compared to restaurant ratings. So, service is minimal and a smile goes a long way and the ambiance is usually outdoors. Coat and Thai was rated Top 10 Best Thai by City Search in 2011-2012, and I don't disagree. Good portions, and interestingly served. Ordered the chicken Pad Thai, so it can either be good, really good, or a total fail. Fairly simple dish, yea? This was indeed good. What I appreciated most about this dish is that it wasn't overwhelmed with sauce and had a decent amount of chicken. It was missing egg and some greens, like other restaurants may do, but overall it was a solid dish and accessible by a food truck. FYI anyone in a tree has access to the bathroom key!

Had just left watching the bats on Congress bridge when we felt kind of hungry. Stopped in at The Picnic food truck park. A lot of the food trucks were already closed. Just a couple open. I got Pad Thai at Coat & Thai. Really hit the spot. I didn't think I was that hungry, but once I started, I was inhaling it. Noodles are cooked perfectly, very tasty. Lots of flavor. They gave a lot of crushed peanuts on the side. And a juicy lime wedge. The noodles them self were wrapped in foil to keep warm. I got some napkins and chop sticks at their food truck stand. The park itself is pretty big. The trucks are in an outer circle around the picnic tables. It's mostly covered. It's in the dirt, so don't wear your bright white shoes. Had a great view of the full moon. Which was wonderful. Food was delicious and the service was friendly.

Pretty good pad Thai! The noodles were a bit too thin for my preference, but the taste was great. I don't think I would get the shrimp again, probably chicken instead. Didn't wait long, but felt the portion size was small for what I paid compared to other Thai restaurants I've been to.

I liked this place and gave it 4 stars previously, but with the price increases, it costs about the same as Titaya's while the portions are smaller. Taste-wise, it's about the same. There's no reason for me to come here if it doesn't beat other Thai places. read more

The worst Pad Kee Mao I have ever had. The noodles were stuck together as if they were just taken out of the fridge. The sauce was way too much and the shrimp that was added wasn't good either. read more

There have only been 2 places in my life where I've had sticky decadent Pad Thai: a joint in San Antonio and a place in Chicago. I've gone to hundreds of Thai restaurants trying to find a place that can replicate my favorite pad Thai and no such luck....UNTIL I came across Coat & Thai last night. They really hit the nail on the head with their Pad Thai. Noodles are sticky with a decadent sauce that gives a little kick at the end with vegetables well incorporated into it. I ordered peanut sauce on the side to lather all over it. The two compliment each other very well. I will be back 100% guaranteed! This place is cute. The girl working there is cute. The carrots are cute. I like this place. I tried the Cashew Chicken and the Pad Prik Pao. The Pad Prik Pao has a pepper to indicate spicyness, but it's really not very spicy. I liked it a lot, the flavor was sweet and bold, and the sauce over the rice was SO GOOD. I'll admit the rice was a little dry. But the sauce was soooo yummy. The slight spicyness complimented the sweetness of the sauce, and the vegetables were lovely with it. I enjoyed the chicken as well. This is a cute trailer with hard working people who make Austin awesome. Props for Coat & Thai, I'll come here again bitches!!! I had the green curry with chicken and it was delicious! The food tasted very fresh and was also very flavorful. Also, it was nice and warm when it was served which is great! The portion was generous for the price. The service was wonderful as well. Both employees who I interacted with were very helpful and friendly. This food truck is located in a cool food truck park and there was plenty of parking in the lot right behind the food truck. I highly recommend this food truck if you are in the area and craving some thai food! read more

This is the best Thai food I've had in Austin, especially for the money. The Pad Thai is incredible. Luckily I live close by and am able to order from here 3-4 times a week. They know my order by heart now lol. They use vermicelli rice noodles (pho noodles), instead of the traditional flat rice noodles for the Pad Thai, which is an absolute game changer, never really particularly liked pad Thai before eating here. My order typically consists of the Shrimp Pad Thai spicy 5 with no veggies, and the Green Curry spicy 5 with no veggies with the protein on the side. You have to try dipping the pad Thai instead of the white rice in the curry, words can't describe how good it is. I normally can't finish it all. On top of that, you have the side of rice and protein of your choice that comes with the curry as a midnight snack, essentially making 3 entrees for $20. Toss some sriracha on the side of rice and heat up the protein and you're all set. The owners are incredible and I don't know what I'm going to while they are in Thailand for their yearly month long trip back home. She even told me she would bring me back traditional Thai spices since they know I love incredibly spicy dishes. Shows that they value their customers! 10/10 would recommend to anyone! read more

It's edible BUT the worst Thai I've had since moving to Austin 5 months ago. The chicken in the pad Thai was so dry it was impossible to chew. The egg rolls were mushy and just... not good. Nice people though at the truck if that counts for anything? read more

Pulled up to this food truck because I literally smelled it from the street! There were about 8 trucks but we were lured to this one and were not disappointed. We ordered the crab Ran Goon and a cold lychee drink. The Ran Goon was good but the crab filled center just didn't do it for me. It wasn't bad, just wasn't good either. We sampled some of the other trucks but came back for the spring rolls and spicy Pad Thai noodles with chicken. It was very good. Food was hit and spicy just like I asked. When I asked her to make it spicy, the attendant asked what number I wanted- on a scale from 1-5 with 5 being the hottest thank God I picked 2 or else I would have died from the chile. It's worth the stop. read more

Yum. I really like the chicken pad thai. This place is a tasty little food truck on South Congress. For $7 I can get a large serving of Chicken Pad Thai that I can't even finish. The only con is that when it's busy you'll probably wait 15-20 minutes for your food. read more

I really enjoyed Coat & Thai! My boyfriend ordered the cashew chicken and my friend ordered the yellow curry. I personally thought the cashew chicken was big enough for two people but I do tend to eat smaller servings. I loved the cashew chicken, it was flavorful and paired well with the white rice. I would say the yellow curry was a bit watery but it was still rich in flavor and delicious when paired with both the cashew chicken and white rice. We took the food to go but the food truck area is well lit and had many places to sit at. Additionally, parking wasn't too much of a hassle and it was free. read more

We decided to try a food truck park and hubby grabbed Coat & Thai, he loved the shrimp and rice so much we went back the next night and my daughter and him got it again! The shrimp were big enough you had to cut them up! It's a HUGE compliment if my husband is willing to get there twice in a week, but twice in a row...should be 10 stars! read more

Great Thai food! I love all the appetizers and my go to is the R-6 pineapple friend rice add shrimp (extra $1). My friends dig on the R-5 basil fried rice and I also like the entrees. Oh and they have Thai iced coffee! That stuff is strong!!! Always quick service and very nice! read more

This food truck is fantastic. The food is solid which made me happy because Austin is not known for great Asian food. The pad see ew is amazing as well as their Thai iced tea. Portions are solid and prices are fair. The pad Thai is good as well, and the staff is very friendly. They accept contactless payments like Apple Pay which is a huge plus for me as well. Wow! Ok so it took over an hour, I didn't really have anywhere else to be but I can see this not being favorable if I really wanted their food while I was in a pinch- because honestly they make food from the soul and for the soul! They told me it would take 30 minutes- but I think what happened was a bunch of people kept going up asking about their food even the people who ordered after me- lot of pressure, again I get it because it took more time than they said but as I watched people go up- oh well. Food is 4 stars for a thai food truck, costumer service is a 1. I ordered my food and the cashier guy didn't even say one word to me expect for "Order number 24". I work at a food service myself, and i know that smiling and treating the customer right is what gives the service a full 5 stars. If i could, i would only tip the cooks. Waited 45 minutes to get my very simple order and it was not as if they were super busy or anything. Received no compensation for my wait what so ever, and no information on how long the order would take to begin with. I was number 26, and they were handing out food to number 45 when i finally got my mediocore food. Plenty of other food trucks besides this one, you would be better off spending your money at those. read more

No one is rude, but even when I sit at the bar, I feel like no one checks on me; I always have to get someone's attention to order something, and sometimes I feel like I'm being straight up ignored. This has been my experience consistently through the past few weeks with multiple bartenders. Not the end of the world, and I'm definitely going to keep going here and tipping 20% every time. From speaking with Tony Jr. today, they also have a restaurant in Pflugerville. I ordered jerk chicken, which fell off the bones and came with cabbage, rice and peas and plantain. I have traveled to Jamaica a couple of times, this Jamaican food was the real deal. The jerk chicken was a bit spicey but not set your tongue on fire spicey. The rice and peas along with the cabbage was perfectly seasoned. The standout for me was the sweet plantain, spoken like a plantain connoisseur. The plantain was sweet on the inside and slightly charred on the outside...perfect combination. The only improvement would have been for me to get a side of plantain. My food was delivered fast and hot. Tony Jr. was super personable and friendly. There is seating in the center of the food truck park. You hear tunes being played in the background. The food truck park is at the core of East Austin in a semi-residential area. Street parking is available for diners. I look forward to trying curry goat and oxtails and more.

I got pad kee mow with tofu and veggies. The tofu was very airy, wasn't my favorite but the veggies were good. My friends got Thai basil fried rice and crab rangoons. Very delicious food, worth the trip for sure. My wife and I had pineapple fried rice and yellow curry and both were amazing. The food truck area it's in is nothing to look at but not a problem at all and has a nice sitting area in the middle. Worth the trip out. read more
