While its Taiwanese stores are Feng Cha quality, this location is more comparable to Kung Fu Tea... This CoCo is in the first floor of Valleyfair, right on the corner near Macy's and Skechers. For COVID safety purposes, social distancing is enforced, all staff wear masks, and the store capacity has been limited. Service is relatively quick. MANGO YAKULT (50% sweet, light ice, w/lychee jelly): Tastes oddly similar to canned pineapple juice, for whatever reason. A little too syrupy-sweet, even with reduced sugar. TARO SAGO (70% sweet, light ice, w/boba): No real taro whatsoever. At least the powder was mixed well? If you're not into the chunky, starchy, natural taro drinks, and prefer the artificially sweet, smooth taro flavor, this is probably up your alley. Boba and sago are fine, but IMO the drink is 3/10. Surprisingly bad, given that eateries in Valleyfair are usually better than your run-of-the-mill "mall food". AND, the drinks were $12 total... If I'm paying $6/drink, I'd really prefer natural ingredients over powder and syrup. Happy to see Coco at Valleyfair. I've tried the Coco at the Santa Anita mall in Arcadia. This location definitely looks more hip and clean. I think at the Santa Anita location, the milk tea with 3 toppings (boba, grass jelly, and pudding) is called "3 ladies", but here, it's "3 guys". There's also a choice for a milk tea with only two toppings (boba & pudding), which is "2 ladies". Very interesting name choices!!! I ordered the 2 ladies and was pleasantly surprised by the price - $4.50 for a medium sized drink with two toppings in NorCal? No way. The milk tea tastes like a black milk tea. I wish the pudding was thicker because I could barely taste it. By the time I finished the drink, all the pudding was left at the bottom. As for the boba, it's more of a harder and chewier texture. Not bad, but definitely different from what I normally like. I enjoyed the balance of the toppings and the milk tea. The milkiness of the drink didn't overpower the tea aroma, so yay for that. I was so excited to see they were opening a CoCo fresh near me! The first time I CoCo was back in Taiwan, then the second time was in SF. Environment: Small area at a corner in the mall, which they have some walk way space incase it gets packed. There are some seating in the area and they have spacious counters that doesn't feel clutter, which makes it easy to grab and go. Staffs: Super friendly and patient. Everytime I pass this Boba Shop, not a long wait which is nice. I ordered their Taro Milk Tea with Grass Jelly 50% for my mom. She loved it. I think the SF Coco location has better drinks but this location's drink quality is better than the Coco locations in LA.
