It's Mexican food. Mainly bar food to compliment the Reno Room. It is not particularly good or bad. I like that it is close by and that I can get a carne asada wet burrito without moving my car, but there is definitely better Mexican elsewhere in the city. Haven't been here since COVID hit, but what brought me back in was the recent announcement of a $5 breakfast burrito. I don't care who you are, that's a good deal. Now, when I got it, I understood why it was $5 because it is definitely on the small side, but still a great deal. Also, it is pretty rich with shredded cheese, bacon, eggs and a hash brown patty so you can only have so much of it. For me, the smaller size for less money was just right. Amazing food and great location. I had heard great things about this restaurant and finally got to try it. I came on a Saturday during the early evening and was seated right away. Our server/hostess gave us chips and salsa within minutes. These were in point and it was hard to save room for the main dish. We ordered 3 carne asada tacos. I ate one and my partner ate 2. They are SUPER filled with meat so I was honestly satisfied off just one. I put the meat that fell of my taco onto the tortilla chips and made makeshift nachos. I think our bill was under $16 but definitely under $20. They seem to have very reasonable prices for both drinks and food. There's also plenty of street parking in the area. read more

This cute hidden gem in Long Beach is definitely worth stopping by. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The space is pretty small but the food is GREAT!! First time here and I'll be back to try the rest of the food. Let's being with the California burrito, first the tortilla was prefect it wasn't too dry nor too soft, the amount of fries and meat they put in was good, the meat was tender and the sauce was spicy but delicious. The coco burrito was also delicious, no complaints here!! Chips are unlimited. They has specials going on thru the week starting on Tuesday-Thursday. I also got the chimichanga and boy was that good. This place is a casual Mexican food joint that is connected to a dive bar owned by the same establishment. The food is pretty good and cheap and drinks are cheap and strong too. The service was efficient and staff was friendly. Their mushroom taco was very good and they have fair to large portions for a great price. Ordered the Sole Fish Burrito and only got two small pieces of fish. Completely underwhelming. The burrito was filled mostly with beans and rice. The meal does comes with chips, salsa, a dollop of sour cream and a dollop of guacamole. I liked the red salsa and wish I had more of that to go with my rice and beans. I did see someone ordered a salad that looked really good because it was topped with tons of shrimp. Guess I ordered the wrong thing. I cannot speak for the bar, but in terms of food, this place gets a 1. I ordered the chicken burrito, and I believe I was given either canned chicken or tuna. Chips and salsa were good. As for customer service, they get a pretty high rating in my book. Good portions, friendly people taking your order and serving you, just unfortunate the food was not a hit. In terms of the bar, it looked like a fun spot with pool tables and college football on (Saturday night). Good music was being played and it sounded like karaoke was going on. If you go to the bar first, have enough to drink, and get an item different than the chicken burrito, I bet your rating will be higher than mine. read more

Bartender and the manager during the day shift were very unwelcoming. In fact the manager KNEW she had been rude bc she decided to be passive aggressive and go out of her way to "confront" me to let me know she's very busy. So bc you're busy you can't give good service? & why did you feel the need to come up to me and say anything when I didn't address you? & it's 10 people at the bar, if you a bartender and 2 cooks can't handle that volume you shouldn't be a manager! jennifer you're clearly upset how are you replying to this yelp on the clock not even an hour after we left? it's legit 100 degrees outside you didn't even offer us water!! LOLOLOLOL then the first thing u said is "just drinks or are you eating" with the chips hovering over the table as if we could only have them if we bought food. & I truly didn't want to go here but since you got time.. the YT couple next to us sure had quick, efficient service & WATER UPON ARRIVAL, gtfoh. This used to be a good place to go until we started getting sloppy food. Seem to be going downhill don't get me wrong I can use a chimichanga right now those are probably the only things that I would eat. I wish the salsa was consistent some days it's mild sometimes it's too hot to eat. why don't you make two types for people that don't like spicy salsa and some that like spicy salsa just giving us the same crap that the cooks make that they don't really care about their jobs. This places still hits the spot. The shirmp tacos are our favorite. Shrimp are grilled and tacos are filled with all the good stuff. I tried their asada street tacos and Cadillac margarita to go and I can say it hit the spot for sure. I have a number of staples here that I rely on including the black bean burrito, wet, of course, chile relleno, and the tofu tacos. The relish of the mushroom tacos is delectable. My favorite thing here is the vegetarian version of the Ensenada tacos. I think they sizzle cheese on the grill which sends the flavor heavenward. To me adding shrimp dilutes the effect so I go vegetarian with these. Sometimes the al pastor is really well-done which kicks its flavor up a notch. Me and the fam left the beach late, the other day, and we were stressing on what to grab for dinner. Everything in Belmont Shore closes at 8pm or 9pm on weekdays. We remembered that Coco Renos is open late! Both my daughters were like "why haven't you guys brought us here before?!" So straight off the plane I'm like where can I get a vegan burrito fix? Off to Cocoreños we went. This place is like a mullet. Business in the front and party in the back. It's an unassuming hole-in-the wall taqueria from the street, but go in the back and it opens up to a full bar and restaurant area with jukebox jams bumping. The menu is very vegan friendly. Rice is a no-go, but the beans were delicious. Tofu, mushrooms, soy chorizo are all options for filling. Chips and salsa were also good. Tacos are said to be really good here, which I'll be back to try, but I couldn't pass up on the mushroom burrito with guac. And, let's face it, everything's better when it's wet, so I made that happen too. My only complaint is with the margaritas. Inconsistency gave me a decent first one and a second one heavy on the mix and light on the tequila. So next time I'll just grab tacos to go and find my adult beverages elsewhere. read more

The entrance is a wild trip, you walk Into this tiny area with seating and the taco men doing their thing on the stove on the other side. I stood for a second or a minute and then a girl came out. She seemed annoyed AF and took my friend's order and then mine. It was Tuesday so I guess their menu was different because we couldn't take some things to go. Customer service was meh. The food though was GREAT I ordered the Deluxe Veggie Burrito and can I just give props to whomever created this! The Jicama was so great! I've lived in this neighbourhood for 30 years. Cocorenos used to be the spot. Fresh food cooked right in front of you and served by a young waitress who if you worked hard enough would give you a smile :) I haven't been in a while but the same two brothers and their stooge were working this evening. The food has always been consistent. From the soups, tacos to the salsa hotness these guys always get the same flavours & heat consistent. This place is a quick stop for either lunch or dinner. They used to do a $5 breakfast burrito, maybe they still do? Also you can order draft beers & basic mixed drinks from the bar. price ranges from $8-$11 & unlimited delicious tortilla chips its probably best to eat in with a group of 3 or less. What else can I say except that this place is delicious! It is a super casual place, and really tiny but you can enter the bar next door, the Reno Room, from Coco Renos and they will come take your order and serve you inside the bar. If you want to stay inside the restaurant you have that option, but be aware that it is very small. You can order drinks from the restaurant and I believe they come from the bar. The man who served us was very friendly and helpful. They start you out with fresh chips and a deliciously spicy salsa. The menu consists of a good amount of Vegan and Vegetarian options. My friend was super happy to see that they have hard shell Tofu Tacos, and she loved them. The burritos are gigantic and my friends love them, but since I wanted to save room for alcohol I went with the 2 Cheese Enchilada Combo Plate. This was a large meal in itself! They were oozing with cheese and just the right amount of red enchilada sauce. I opted for the pinto beans and they were some of the best I've had. The Spanish rice was perfect with some of the sauce and extra cheese mixed in. This is my new favorite spot for Casual Mexican food in the neighborhood. Went to see what was going on for dinner down on Broadway and Redondo area. Decided to stop by CocoReños. It's quaint little eat-in. They also had seating inside the Reno Room bar that's attached to it but it was way too loud for my taste. Ordered some Margaritas that were pretty good. And then ordered taco and enchilada combo. Then i started noticing one cook in particular constantly talking loud and using a bunch of Mexican slang and cuss words that was getting old quick. Everything out of his mouth was güey this and güey that followed by a bunch of BS. Anyways, food arrive and what look to be yummy frijoles with melted cheese ended up being room temp beans with cheese that stopped melting as soon as they put it on. The single taco shell was somewhere between fried/hard shell and soft. So, because of that, the taco quickly fell apart from the juices. If it was a proper hard shell it would not have fallen apart so easy and if it was a proper soft shell, they would have doubled it up. My first review of 2021! I love love love this spot. It's my go to Taco Tuesday spot in Long Beach. I prefer going here for lunch just because parking is a little easier when there's sunlight out but I've been at dinner as well. You can't beat the price for tacos on Tuesday. Under 2 bucks for delicious tacos, including shrimp! Love their salsa, not just on chips but on pretty much everything there. My favorite wet burrito in all of Long Beach is found here too. I went with a shrimp once, which I found weird, but man was it amazing. I was super shocked. The staff here, except for one back of house guy who looks like Hugo from Lost (sorry old reference), are exceptionally amazing! Super sweet and efficient. Shoutout to my girl Roxi, who is no nonsense and fast and just all around amazing. This business is a pillar in Long Beach and such a great member of the Long Beach community. I was disappointed overall tonight. I had good tasting shrimp on my dish with peppers tonight. What I am disappointed with was the rice for one. It was dry and whenever I eat this dish at Coco Reno's it's never dry. This was take out my husband had though tonight. I also wasn't pleased with the guacamole that is added to the dish...it was old. Needless to say the reason I am reviewing bad is not because the shrimp wasn't good...it was tasty. It's because when you have one of three items good on a dish ai don't feel it is up to own as what I am used to for Coco Reno's. Guacamole needs to be fresh...otherwise just don't add it! As far as rice, there is no excuse. It almost tasted like either it was fried on the grill or it was just dry period. This is basically right next door to the Reno room. They offer veggi friendly dishes. You will see Mexicans actually eating the food and to me that is a really good sign. When visiting the Reno Room I grab the burritos that are massive a real generous servings. The appetizers are also big serving b/c my bestie and I were able to share the beef taquitos. Customer service was friendly but they were real spotty as far as checking on us went so that was a let down. Most the tables were uneven and the hard metal stools are super uncomfortable. The mystery may never be solved... But I digress. I like to get a nice big veggie burrito with some blackened tofu without driving all the way down to taco loco in Laguna beach. Where else in LB can I go to a bar that has multiple vegetarian options on its menu?? Blackened tofu and mushrooms with yummy salsa and lard-free mexican food...mmm. And it doesn't hurt that it's a few steps away from Club Broadway and The Library coffeeshop. This really feels like a hole in the wall and is not the kind of place you would go to impress a date, but they have good portions and good prices and a pretty decent location. You've just been to an awesome party, you were just at a ritzy after party, top that off with you've had one too many drinks and now you've got the munchies and it's getting really, really late so what's open in Long Beach and where can you party next? Coco Renos of course! We showed up around 12:30 or 1AM. Can't really remember now but they were closing up the restaurant. We were pouting at the door and begging for some chips and salsa and the lady was nice enough to let us in. She was also nice enough to get a round of Dos Equis and a water for me, the designated driver. This place is pretty small but it's authentic Mexican and the chips and spicy salsa hit the spot. I was out with Mary M, her BF Hamid, and Brad D - they all got tacos while I eyed the mushroom quesadillas. This place is cheap eats but boy do you get huge portions. The menu is around $4-5 bucks and the chips and salsa were $1.95. We ate like kings and queens and they were gracious enough to let us hang out for a while until we eventually got kicked out into the bar that is adjacent to this restaurant and has a separate back entrance. This spot saved our night. The tacos were huge and filling and the meat was perfectly seasoned. They cooked up everything fresh on the grill so the aroma overwhelmed us and took over the restaurant.
