Great little neighborhood coffee shop ensconced in a storefront of an apartment building. There is a kiosk-like wheeled coffee cart in a brick and mortar shop. Creative and open layout with a side counter and stools. There a few tables to sit, sip, and linger. Come here for the coffee. Genni took my order. I asked for a strong bold brew. Genni said in five minutes she would have a dark roast ready for me. The best brew of coffee I have sipped in a long while. A shoutout to Genni for the dark roast brew and her smile. Coffee Cycle is dog friendly too. Two good looking pooches lounging in front of the entrance with their coffee sipping guardians. The patrons, the morning I walked into this coffee shop, were happily sipping their coffee. I will return for the coffee on my next visit to the Pacific Beach area of San Diego. read more

We walked here from our airbnb where we were staying on a weekend trip in San Diego. It wasn't too crowded on an early Saturday morning so we were able to order our coffee right away. I got a cortado (it comes as a double shot by default). The milk to coffee ratio was a bit high in my opinion, but maybe I should have just stuck with a macchiato instead. I want to really taste my coffee, but this one was pretty mild in flavor. My husband got a macchiato and I liked his much better. The baristas were all super friendly. read more

We were here in PB for a few days and tried several coffee places. Coffee Cycle was the best by far. Really friendly and knowledgeable staff. They took the time to explain the process since it was our first time and they were incredibly patient. I rarely go out for coffee when I'm at home. When I go out I usually get a caramel macchiato at Starbucks. I ordered a macchiato and the barista asked if I wanted their house macchiato or a "Starbucks" type macchiato and not in a pretentious way, it was asked very nicely. I opted for the "SB" type and I think they make their own vanilla syrup. Anyway, it was probably the best coffee drink I have ever had. Perfect strength, sweetness and smoothness. Amazing! My wife ordered a hot pourover Ethiopian coffee. It was as described with floral notes. We split a mushroom burrito and a pumpkin turnover. We were surprised how good the burrito was. Cute kinda quirky little coffee shop right on Grand in PB. It was my first time in and the staff gave me a run down of their menu and everything. They make each coffee to order and they are pour overs! (So be ready to wait a bit for your drink - but is well worth the wait! They feature local makers (etsy type jewelry, tea, etc) that you can venmo on the spot. They have split bakehouse goodies which are all vegan. They also have a small menu of breakfast burritos you can order as well. I ordered the bacon breakfast burrito! I got their Lavender drink which was the perfect amount of Lavender and not to sweet. They make all their syrups in house & have a policy that if you don't like your drink they'll adjust it for you until it's better. The staff was so nice, the shop was small and full of personality. I've worked in PB for 6 years and these guys are coming up on their 5th year. I can't believe it took me this long to find them! read more

First off, the cafe is really cute and the barista was super sweet. I ordered the lavender latte and was recommended their house made cashew/macadamia nut blend as they did not carry oat milk. The barista was very nice and told us to bring back the drink if we did not like it. The lavender syrup was very bitter, no espresso taste in the latte and the cashew/macadamia milk was basically powdery water. We asked the barista to add some vanilla syrup to make it more palatable but was still very much sour brown water than a latte. Friends ordered vanilla lattes, chai lattes, yogi latte but all found their drinks equally poor and tasting more like water than anything else. 2.5 stars as the service was so good but all my friends found their drinks equally poor. read more

I stopped in for a coffee here today and it was great! The barista was very friendly and super helpful with picking out something on the menu and explaining their options. They've got awesome plain drip coffee roasts from in house as well as a great variety of latte options so there's something for every coffee drinker. Their lattes are more subtle flavors so they don't smack you in your face and leave you with a sugar hangover but if you're looking for the sweet sweet sweet flavor just be aware. The coffee was super tasty and since the service was just great I couldn't recommend it more! Great place to stop for a cup of joe! read more

I wish this place was closer to where I live. I am not usually in the PB area, but had to visit my accountant so decided to try out Cycle coffee when I did a search for Coffee&Tea places in the area. First of all, customer service is sincere here. I liked the way the owner interacted with his customers. He had a natural friendly attitude. Second of all, the coffee is quality! I ordered an almond milk espresso. The robust flavor was so smooth with the almond milk. The owner informed me that they also make their own alternative milk with is a mix of cashew and macadamia nut. Neat! The only other coffee place I know that makes their own nut milks is Lofty coffee (my number one place to go for coffee) and one of the reasons I keep coming back is because homemade nut milks make a big difference when making espresso based drinks. If I find a need to be in the area again, I will definitely put Cycle coffee on my agenda so that I can order a flat white with their homemade cashew/macadamia nut milk. read more

To be honest, I love a good underdog, and being located right across the street from Starbucks, it's giving Rocky Balboa. Underdogs aside, Coffee Cycle's coffee is consistently excellent, and I've been all over their menu. Lactose haters - their "house milk" - which is a cashew macadamia blend - is literally superior to all other not milk milks I've ever tried. With as good as the coffee is, the staff is even better. In the world filled with great coffee roasters and coffee shops, this little one ranks up there with some of the best. I had a Latte which was smooth and rich with a mild nutty flavor towards the end. It was a tad heavy on the foam but still a very satisfying beverage. The place offers a few seats inside and outside. Although the place is small, they do make an array of espressos, coffees, iced or hot, and teas. They did have some delicious looking baked goods in a small display as well. Great place. read more

On my recent vacation to Pacific Beach, I looked up different coffee roasteries in the area. I was excited to see Coffee Cycle which looked exactly like the kind of shop I'm into, so (without a bicycle, sorry to say) I electric-scootered my way over and checked out this business. Chris at the counter is a fantastic human being, easy to talk with and extremely knowledgeable about his coffees. He was very helpful in directing me towards a perfect selection. I bought a bag of beans, the Costa Rica Corazon (their own proprietary blend) to make at home and enjoyed a cup of their Dr Congo Birambo Villge while I was there. It was so good that I ended up coming back again to pick up a bag of that as well!! They offer some great choices for flavored and creamed coffees as well if that's more your speed but either way this is an excellent spot to get your java on next time you're in PB. Most excellent and a don't miss this opportunity if looking for stellar coffee and great staff. They make a precision coffee, like weighing all ingredients to their specification. They make their cashew milk in house daily as well as in house macadamia milk. Try the 50/50 mix of the two for a real treat. We tried the latte with cashew, the latte with 50/50 cashew/ Mac and the in house made chai tea latte with the 50/50 milk. All were outstanding. SUNDAY MORNING WITH A NEWBORN and hungry momma in the house. I ran out to Coffee Cycle because she found a veggie breakfast burrito during a google search. VERY NICE FOLKS. The owner was hanging around just happily joking with customers in line and the employees are all attentive and friendly. They made the appropriate congratulatory faces and sounds when I mentioned the baby. I had the Le Caramel (iced) coffee and she had the cashew milk chai tea latte. Both were quite good. BACON BURRITO / VEGAN BURRITO . My bacon burrito was passable but we are really spoiled on burritos here in PB. It was a fine breakfast. The salsa was a little thick for my taste but also quite passable. She says the vegan burrito was good and a nice option because vegan burritos are hard to find here. If you are looking for a LOW KEY WAY TO START YOUR SUNDAY I highly recommend swinging by. Weekend parking is abundant, as a local, I'll say that weekday parking could be tricky. Well priced. I travel around SD for work so Ive tried my fair share of local coffee shops around town and this was hands down the best coffee I've had in a long time! The staff are so friendly. The barista helped me pick out a coffee based on the flavor profile I liked which was so cool. *not a great place if you are super rushed. They make the coffee by fresh by order with pour over (iced or hot) so it takes a few minutes. I'll wait 5 extra minutes for a fresh cup myself though! read more

Vacationing in San Diego, it took us a couple days to peg Coffee Cycle as the absolute go-to spot for single origin coffee, cold brew, and lattes. Tellingly, a barista at another excellent coffee place recommended it. Chris and team warmly welcomed us four straight mornings and served up some of the tastiest drinks we have ever had. I went for the Kenyan coffee served hot, and the two other coffee lovers in our group had expresso drinks and cold brew with beans from Ethiopia and the in-house made cashew-macadamia milk. Skill and loving care go into each drink - they use a manual lever machine for espresso and individual immersion drippers for coffee. With a sidewalk sign out front playfully contending that the "Best Coffee Ever" awaits inside, Coffee Cycle backs it up, plus you make new friends. Next summer, we'll be looking for a PB vacation rental within walking distance. read more

You always feel like family when you drop in. They remember your name and your order - or in my case the fact that I'm always gonna go for cashew-mac milk alternative and most likely grab one of their burritos as well. Their syrups are mostly made in house by Chris. They use local honey. Everything supports local vendors from their awesome breakfast burritos to their pastries (try the apple fritter cruffin if you get a chance). Even their honey comes locally.
