This is seriously the cutest little cafe. The ambience is so calm, it makes for a great coffee/dessert date. My boyfriend and I came here mainly for the desserts. I've seen the photos on yelp and they were so eye appealing we had to try it out! We ended up getting an affgato (espresso shot over ice cream), and a regular sized fruit pat bing soo (Korean shaved ice) to share. Being a coffee enthusiast, I absolutely had to get the affogato and girl!!! I would seriously have this everyday. I can't get over how much of a treat this was, the ice cream was so creamy and it DID NOT melt to a glob in the espresso. The bing soo surprised us. We thought the regular size was only for one person, but noooo. We were having such a hard time finishing it because they gave use such a generous amount. The best part was that it wasn't drenched in condensed milk, just the perfect amount. They have a wide range of selections on their menus from food to drinks and desserts. Honestly, this is the cutest coffee shop in Tacoma! they serve victrola coffee and the barista is so nice, he even took the time to deliver the coffee directly to our table! Very rarely you can find this kind of service in US coffee shops although this is the typical service you will find in Asian countries' coffee shops. Could not agree more with the other reviews, their decor is adorable especially that nook! They really paid attention to little details in decorating every corner of the shop. We tried this place last night on a whim because we were nearby. I wasn't too impressed, but I think it's because I've never really had a lot of Korean food and didn't know what to expect. We got the fruit pat bing soo. The kids at the front had us taste the red bean before to see if we liked it. I thought the dish was overall ok. I thought the combination was weird... Red bean, ice, vanilla ice cream, whip cream, and then strawberries, blueberries, bananas, kiwis, and mochi on top. The kiwi definitely did not go with the other flavors and tasted gross in the mix and I generally love kiwi. It was really pretty to look at though haha. The place is so cute.. Very clean. It's a great place to go to on a hot day with a friend and grab bingsoo. I love that they have options like sandwiches, waffles and coffee if you're not big on the bingsoo. The decor is quaint and simple. Service can be slow since they don't have that many employees to handle the amount of orders coming in at times. It'll get crowded sometimes and there won't be enough seats but you can always get yours to go if that's the case. It may slightly melt though, but it's better than trying to wait for a table. You can also call in your order in advance and they will have it prepared for you to pick up. It would just be in disposable containers with a lid. read more

Pulled off I-5 on the way to Seattle because we desperately needed coffee. Ordered a quad hazelnut latte. The baristas seemed a bit confused about how many shots we wanted. They tried to explain it already came with one and a half. We asked if they could just add two. They looked at us like we were crazy to want so many shots in a single drink. Anyways, they made us the drink and it was tasty and full of caffeine, which was just what we wanted. Easy to get on and off the freeway, so this is a decent place to stop if you find yourself in the same predicament as we did. Plus they're open pretty late. read more

Maybe there should be a time limit or something cause there was only one person actually eating food. One of the best coffee shops I've been too!! The caramel macchiato and it was so delicious. The ratio between the coffee, milk, and syrup was just the right amount. I had the breakfast waffle which was a waffle with strawberries, blueberries, chocolate drizzle, and whip cream. This waffle was so good, it exceeded my expectations. It was not overly sweet and even though it was $6, it was worth every penny. The cafe is decorated with live green plants, and is based on a Christian faith due to the prayer request box, the music and the pamphlets on the tables. The area was clean and well decorated. Heard about this place from a friend and suggested it was good. Walking in the place it was clear they were renovating a few things. Everyone working wore a mask. This is a cheery little ray of sunshine in an otherwise frighteningly dilapidated strip mall. Live plants pop out from every corner, as does a little bookshelf with a copy of Wuthering Heights and a manual on diabetes. They have coffee, deserts, teas, and Korean drinks as well. This place is sooooo good and sooooo cute. My best friend took me here for the first time around 6:30pm and there was only one guy working! Poor guy, but he was still really kind and served us pretty quickly (15 minutesish). The fruit pat bingsoo was so yummy! It had strawberries, bananas, kiwi, blueberry, rainbow mochi, red bean, strawberry shaved ice, and vanilla ice cream with whip cream and some chocolate sauce! We put the ice cream scoop into a small bowl and mixed up the rest of everything. The fruits really went well with the shaved ice and red bean! It was a gigantic serving and would be perfect for summer. The tartness of the fruits went well with the sweet ice cream and red bean paste. The cinnamon honey toast was delicious as well but I have had better in other places that have multiple options of honey toast. The bread was extremely soft and melted in my mouth and the cinnamon, caramel, and whip cream topping paired well with the warm cinnamon bread. This by far is my favorite breakfast place for something sweet! We got there alil early on a Saturday and they opened alil after opening 10am. We were ok with waiting 5 mins. We ordered the French Toast and dessert waffles. The area where this is located is like a hole in the wall but the inside is a nice comfy setting. It has a nice feel too it. This place has a ridiculous amount of charm to it. I feel in love with the atmosphere as soon as I walked in. I had their breakfast waffle which was about $6.50. It was delicious and worth it. It's not a thin waffle like a lego-my-eggs, but a thick hearty one topped with fruits and a large pile of whipped cream. This place is the perfect spot to study - free WiFi, bathroom, coffee, tables. (I had a sweet potato latte, which was amazing,) Note that they offer a variety of alternative milks (almond, coconut, soy, etc) as well as cow milk. It's quite spacious and well lit (atypical for a coffee shop). The Coffee Kitchen is located in a small Korean "strip mall," and looks pretty nondescript from the outside.
