We are members of their loyalty club, so when an expiring BOGO came via email, we jumped on it to get two 'Gotta Have Its' (the largest size) from their Signature Creation Line. Birthday Cake Remix (Cake Batter Ice Cream, Rainbow Sprinkles, Brownie, Fudge) and my personal favorite, Coffee Lovers Only (Coffee Ice Cream, Roasted Almonds, Heath Bar, and Caramel). All three of us were amazed at how big the serving size was, and it overwhelmed the cup that it was placed into. But during the walk back to the car, we were successful in reducing the footprint. And we confirmed that both were absolutely delicious. I really do think Cold Stone is our favorite ice cream place. even after 20 plus years. read more

I was really craving some ice cream, and since my usual ice cream spot closed because of the COVID-19 outbreak, I've been visiting ice cream shops that I haven't been to in years, including Cold Stone Creamery! I still remember when they first opened a Cold Stone Creamery in my hometown of Olympia and everyone would go there. And I'd get free ice cream everyday because my high school boyfriend worked there! So, you can imagine that after having Cold Stone everyday in high school, I got sick of it and haven't had it in years. But, I finally revisited the past and it made me remember why I was a fan of it so many years ago. And I'm still a fan. I called ahead of time, to make sure they were open, and they are open with normal hours. This Cold Stone Creamery shop is located in the Crossroads Mall, right by the mall entrance to the food court. I came in and the two employees who were working there were so happy to see me since business has been super slow for them. The gals who helped me were super friendly and social, and offered their favorite classic creations and ice cream flavors. It was nice to get such great customer service. I just had to re-order a high school favorite, the birthday cake remix! It's cake batter ice cream with brownie, sprinkles and chocolate syrup. It really does taste like cake and ice cream had a baby, or, the celebratory cake from your childhood birthday party. No complaints there! For anyone who loves cake, I suggest trying the cake batter ice cream, which is my favorite flavor here. I do wish the brownie had been more soft, as it was a little hard, so could've been cut up more. But overall, the ice cream was yummy! I ordered the love it size, which was more than enough since the ice cream was so filling. I'm glad to try Cold Stone Creamery after so many years later. Some things just never change, which is a good thing. The classic creations are definitely a good place to start, as they have a solid amount of different combinations. But you can build your own creation, get a classic sundae or a milkshake. They also sell ice cream cakes and pints here. Their ice cream is too rich (yes, it's possible) and I'm made nervous by all the peanut-based mix-ins and the seeming lack of hygeine about the stone surfaces where the ice cream is combined with the toppings. Let me tell you this ice cream shop is the best. I went to the store on Sunday, didn't know they were already closed, so I banged the door hard since the door was locked. I then realized they had been closed for 45 minutes and felt embarrassed and tried to walk away. Justin saw us at the door though and came over to unlock it so he could talk to us. I apologized for banging on the door explaining I had thought they closed at 10. He said not to worry about it and that his cold stone had already been put away but he would do his best to make us some without it. We told him it was ok and we didn't want to trouble him but he insisted. He mixed up three orders in a bowl and was super nice to us even I was rude by knocking on the door. I don't know how long that manager has worked there, but the same lady seems to be there every time and acts like she's training brand new employees even when they're employees that I've seen there several times before. The employees seem absolutely miserable and like they hate their job so much, and I can't blame them. They have to ask the same scripted questions for every single person, and if they miss one question, their manager is right there behind them to call them out and shame them in front of the customer. The employees are allowed absolutely no leeway to be themselves or improvise or act like actual human beings. Coldstone is full of robots, not humans (to no fault of the employees, it's management). Delicious, and I'm a particular fan of when they have the oatmeal cookie batter flavor in stock. Other than that, I'll settle with sweet cream or even marshmallow... Raspberries, strawberries and pie crust. It's basically a [very, very] dangerous meal in a bowl. Folks, I generally am a big fan of Cold Stone. I've been to plenty of these over Washington, and I guess I've just been lucky to not go to a crappy one. The Cold Stone at Crossroads Mall is different; the staff are incredibly anal with the toppings. You know how some bars you go to and they eyeball the alcohol they are pouring in? And other times, they measure it to the exact drop? Yeah, same deal here. I ordered a small with heath, oreo, and fudge. The staff person put in one single small piece of heath, one oreo, and fudge. Now, generally when I go to any other Cold Stone they give me a few oreos, an extra heath piece if I ask for it, etc. I had no idea there were some sort of fucked up rules about how little toppings can go in legally. The staff person explained to me that she'd have to charge me 60 or 70 cents extra for another small piece of heath bar, keeping in mind that one "piece" is about 1/3rd of a full sized candy bar. What?! I could go buy a full-sized bar for less than that. It ended up costing 5 bucks, and I swear that HALF OF THE ICE CREAM had ZERO toppings in it, and the other half was only sparsely populated. I've returned once more and it's pretty much the same. Unlike other stores in the Cold Stone chain (or other mix-in ice cream places), this store is absolutely terrible. Don't go there. read more

This Cold Stone Creamery is not unlike the other franchises i've been to. Same quality toppings, same quality ice cream. Same delicious gut bomb. My gut bomb of choice: Vanilla ice cream mixed with oreos and strawberries. Yeah I know it seems like a weird combo, but try it out, you might like it. Upon stepping in for a late night bite with my friends, we were extremely excited to get our fat hands on some Cold Stone! I ordered a Brownie A La Cold Stone. The larger lady (Joe? Seemed like a manager) was polite, but didn't even give me more than half a scoop of ice cream... I was hoping for at least half the amount of ice cream as shown in the menu photo, but I was wrong. On top of the microscopic scoop of ice cream that I couldn't get to, the Oreos that I wanted mixed in (as traditional with cold stone) where just thrown in, whole. Thanks. I normally love going to cold stone, but last night's experience was terrible. Reasons I disliked my expereince 1. They skimped me on the ice cream. I order a gotta have it and the ice cream hardly even reached the top of the container. My experience with other cold stones is they put a heaping amount of it in the bowl, to the point where it overflows the top. 2. They skimped me on the toppings. $0.80 for a single reeses peanut butter cup, and an additional $0.80 for 2 oreo's. I've never had a cold stone skimp so much on the toppings. 3. The worker realized she'd skimped me on the ice cream, so she slapped a spoonful of unmixed ice cream on the top. This brought the total amount of ice cream about level with the top of the bowl... still not the amount I'm used to and not the amount I want if I'm paying $6 for it. 4. The fruit was disgusting looking. 5. All of the "mix-in" containers seemed dirty, like they hadn't been cleaned... ever. I would recommend people go to another cold stone. read more

I have liked all of the flavors that I have had at Cold Stone. I am fond of the cake batter one. However, as a rule, i can never finish my expensive scoop of ice cream. It's just too much for me. Which is strange cause I am not one of those "omg, i totally can't handle sweet stuff" girls. So if someone wants to go, I'm happy to tag along, but when I'm thinking dessert, and for some reason at Crossroads, I'd rather go to the bubble tea place. read more

I heart ice cream. If ice cream was a person, I'd run away with it. Cold Stone should be Hef's house for an ice cream lover. I like the wild array of muddled messes you can order that generally follows this general scheme: type of ice cream + one or two mix-ins (ie. Oreo cookies, chopped nuts, gummi bears) + something gooey (ie. chocolate sauce or caramel). Plus, you're given the option of having this in an ordinary bowl or cone or kick it up a notch and live a little with a chocolate dipped waffle cone or bowl. This is all well and good, but the staff don't go over the top in explaining how this all works for first timers. I was hesistant at first and wasn't sure if you could just go up and make a custom creation or whether you were limited to the menu board. It's a bit like going into a sub sandwich place or a pizza place and orienting yourself to what they have to offer. Most times, these places have lines, so do everyone a favor there and decide what you'd like them to compile before you get between a junior soccer team and their frozen bliss. It is spendy compared to alternatives (Dairy Queen and 31 flavors) and their menu is strongly weighted towards those of us without any milk or dairy issues. One of my kids is sensitive to dairy and she ends up with a sorbet, and typically their sorbet selection is limited to either raspberry or lemon the times we'd visited. I'd wonder if they'd ever tried to serve any soy or rice based proucts (like Rice Dream or Soy Delicious)? They do sing. Usually. The store in the Crossroads mall in Bellevue had what appeared to be one person working last weekend and she didn't sing while we were there. She was not too enthused to be working that day it seemed. Had I never been to another one of these places, I wouldn't have noticed her lack of pep. Usually the staff are cut and pasted out of "High School Musical" and it's like they're buzzing on their second Frappacino. Not the case in Crossroads that day, but the ice cream was fine. Why did I rate three stars? Some nice creations on the menu, generally clean locations, a good number of conveniently located locations, ample seating, and ability to pack it to go. They do cakes too! Why did I not rate five stars? High prices and lack of alternative selection. Also, a slightly smaller portion would be welcomed so you don't feel like Jabba the Hutt when you're done. read more
