Just finished up at ComicX for a Sunday afternoon lunch. We were honestly really excited to check this place out because the social media presence is top notch. Unfortunately, like most things on social media, it was definitely NOT like the pictures. Right off the bat, the ambiance was confusing at best. A mixture of country music and Taylor Swift was playing which made no sense sitting next to a life size replica of Iron Man and Cat woman. The televisions were playing Guardians of the Galaxy, but one of them kept changing to the tv menu with weird psychedelic pictures of food and geckos? As for the food...I was really hoping to like it! We got the Juggar-Not Burger and the Hen Solo Chicken sandwich. The burger was cooked well and the flavors were decent. Nothing to really write home about though. The chicken sandwich was HIGHLY over cooked and a little hard to chew. After some inspection, we saw it was a cooked, then frozen piece of grilled chicken that was then covered in batter and cook again. No wonder the chicken was so chewy. All in all, we were really excited to try it out mostly just to say we did, but we would not go back. For how expensive the meal was, the food and ambiance were a complete miss. read more

The wait time they report is inaccurate. Yelp said 5 min, the hostess said 15. With pandemic, be prepared to wait. Lots of great comic memorabilia around to view. Lots of family there to take photos with these pieces of art. Hard part of to walk around look at these pieces when families are trying to eat their meal right next to them. Food and drinks arrived very quickly after we ordered. 2 kid meals, one Alfredo noodles, and one burger. All of the food was good. The service was great. My family and I decided to try out this restaurant, as the whole concept seemed very cool. I made reservations about a week ahead of time, and in the reservations, I stated it was my son's 10th birthday (My son and daughter both love Marvel and DC, so they were very excited to eat here). There were 5 in my party (two kids and three adults), and we arrived about 15 minutes ahead of when our reservation time was. Everything from my experience went downhill as soon as we stepped foot inside the restaurant. Eating here is like having a meal at a really cool garage sale/antique store. Apparently, everything inside the building is for sale. This provides a very ad-hoc and cheap feeling to the entire experience. Evidently, all the statues and decorations were purchased at auction. Look closely at all of the set-ups/exhibits, and you will notice that parts and pieces are missing, the statues have miscellaneous damage and defects, and everything is filthy. Layers of dust and filth cover many of the different structures, and the maintenance of these items is clearly lacking. There was a joker statue that was missing its head because someone bought the mask off the statue. The red flag should have been the Fallout mech suit missing a hand positioned in the front of the establishment. You would be hard-pressed to find items inside this place without defects. This may be my fault as I was expecting more of a "Disney" type of experience, but what I received was more like a roadside attraction you would experience on a long road trip somewhere. It left my kids and me thoroughly disappointed. Additionally, the entire space was in need of deep and consistent cleaning. Along with the filthy statutes around the restaurant, the general cleanliness was something that appeared to be something that was generally overlooked. Food crumbs on the floor in the main aisle ways were left ignored the entire time we ate. We were sat at a table positioned awkwardly under the stairs, and some weird hairball thing dangled over my son from the bottom of the stairs. Lots of random and unfinished work all around the space. Some examples would be a random and unfinished cutout in the wall leading to the kitchen (assuming for the sprinkler system?) and unorganized/unfinished wall-mounted TVs and cords. Lots of cheap paper signs printed and scotch taped all over the walls telling you not to touch anything. Once you get inside and start to actually study the environment, it begins to feel more set up like your neighborhood hole-in-the-wall bar vs. a really cool comic type of experience. The menu left much to be desired. For example - every single hamburger they have listed on their menu comes standard with two hamburger patties. So for someone like my 10-year-old son or my elderly mother who just wants a cheeseburger, they are forced to order this mammoth two-patty burger that they will not eat. The server was quick to offer to place the order special for one patty, but the price would be the same. I seemed to stump the server when I suggested I order one two-patty burger and a side bun... We ended up just ordering different entrees - disappointing, to say the least. We also order a couple of the $12 cocktails. The adults in our party couldn't taste the alcohol in either of the drinks we received. It is important to note that if you want any healthy type of food choices, your options at this place will be extremely limited. Despite all of the above disappointing aspects of this experience, my biggest complaint come from what would appear to be a pricing issue between what is advertised on the menus compared to what shows up on the actual receipt invoice. All food and drink menu items are advertised on the menus at a flat dollar rate - meaning, for example, $15 instead of $15.50. When the bill came, I noticed that every single item was charged an additional $.50 on top. When I asked one of the managers what was going on (I had to show proof from the menus as to the pricing discrepancy), I was told they would simply remove the additional money charged from the multiple $.50 charges. I asked if the restaurant would be making the necessary system corrections for all of the clients in the establishment. I was simply apologized to again and then left to pay the remaining amount. I immediately texted multiple friends and family who were thinking about trying this place and warned them to stay away. If you decide to visit this place, please check your receipts and ensure you are not paying more than what has been advertised. All in all, I would never return to this location. Too many issues to fix with the current mentality of the staff and ownership. I would also never recommend this restaurant to anyone. It is a great concept with horrible execution. In reading these other reviews I feel like it was a blessing in disguise that we never were even able to get seated here. I have a nephew who is obsessed with Star Wars. So I thought it would be amazing to bring him here and have lunch in the Star Wars room to celebrate his birthday. I called several times at all different times of the day trying to get a reservation and no one ever picked up the phone. It wouldn't allow me to make the reservation online because we had 10 people. So I ended up sending them a direct message on Instagram requesting the Star Wars room specifically and I did get a response saying that a manager would call me to take the reservation. They did call me back and took my reservation over the phone for a Sunday lunch at noon. I reiterated that I wanted the Star Wars room and they said absolutely. Upon arrival, we were brought to a table in the downstairs bar area. We had four children with us, one of them in a highchair that I stated when making the reservation. We were told they were short staffed that day and they didn't have a server upstairs in the Star Wars room so this was where they were putting us. I'm sorry, but you being short staffed isn't our problem! I made a reservation for that room specifically and I had several confirmations of that reservation texted to me. I don't know why they thought that it would be appropriate to sit us in the bar area with a bunch of kids for a birthday. I asked if there was someone that would be willing to come upstairs and take us as this was for a birthday and my nephew was EXTREMELY disappointed. And I was told by the hostess that someone would be in at 2 PM if we wanted to do that. It was 12 o'clock and we had four children with us. What were we supposed to do for two hours? We were expecting to have lunch and a birthday celebration. Absolutely ridiculous and horrible customer service. It wasn't the hostess's fault. She was very kind but at the same time why would you take a reservation for a party if you can accommodate it. And furthermore, if they knew the morning of that we weren't gonna be able to be in the Star Wars room and there was no service up there. Why didn't they call me and let me know that... Cool place. Food was decent, service slow. Ten minutes no waiter after sitting down, one of my friends had to ask the hostess for someone, but he was really nice when he did come by. Menu is not accurate which was disappointing. If it says "mashed potatoes and side caesar salad" then offer that or fix the menu. They only do mashed OR salad and unmentioned asparagus. Asked about if there was maybe a small up-charge to get it as stated on the menu but the only option was a full salad. Salads are $17, which when I am trying to also have a $30 meal gets pretty steep. Probably won't be back, but if you have kids it's a fun place. read more

As much as I really wanted to like this place, it gets a hearty "meh" at this point. My family and our friends came here for dinner a few nights ago. The food, overall, was good. Burgers were well cooked, chicken sandwiches were enjoyable too. Decor is cool, although none of the video games looked to be available (to the disappointment of my kids). The downside was the service. Our server disappeared for several long periods over the time we were there, and it seems like the only person with a sense of urgency was the one bringing the food to the table. If they can fix their service issues, I'd consider giving it another try. Until then, it's likely one and done for us. read more

Really fun place! Especially for people who love movies/tv/superhero stuff. Came here with my fiancé and a few friends last night just for a drink. I got the heroic-rita. I was deciding between that and this other mixed drink that had gin and hibiscus. The server told me the margarita was her favorite! It was maybe a tad too sweet but pretty strong and I enjoyed it, though I'd try something else next time. Stopped in today for lunch as I work in the area and am a big comic book fan/ pop culture fan. 1. Upon arrival I stood in front of the host stand for 5 minutes, no staff present, not greeted. 2. Server escorted me into the EMPTY bar area offering me either a seat at the bar or at a high top. The Bar has the least amount of decorations/ comic book theme. I declined and asked for a regular table in the main dining area. I was responded to with "whatever" and I followed the server to the new table. 3. Table had no napkins 4. Ordered an ice tea. Was brought the ice tea and sugar packets. I asked politely if they had any Splenda. Was brought Sweet and Low. Asked if they had Splenda (could see it on other tables). Server said he would check and then never followed up. 5. Ordered the cheesesteak. Ok flavor, but bun was falling apart. Couldn't pick up and eat like a sandwich. 6. $20+ for a sandwich and an ice tea with poor service - not a great experience. Can't see any reason to return based on this visit. Management you have a theme restaurant that people come to for an "experience". If your service is poor you will never create an experience people will want to return to try again. Terrible food, okay service and cute ambiance. Saw this place on TikTok and made Valentine's Day reservations like 2-3 weeks in advance. We started the night off with their non-alcoholic grogu drink which was super cute but tasted like salty green gatorade. We both had early mornings the following day so maybe if we had ordered the alcoholic version, this part of the review might be different. We then ordered the corn ribs appetizer which were good although they put way too much sauce on top so if we ever gave this place a chance again, we'd ask for easy sauce and recommend you do the same if ordering this app. Our server was very nice in the beginning and very accommodating with my allergy; however, he didn't check on us at all after we placed our orders which felt annoying considering he upsold us the croc burgers that were soaked in grease and what tasted like old cheese. My boyfriend and I are not super picky either so for us to both be writing a review/gagging while trying to finish our burgers... you know somethings wrong. In addition, there were screaming kids everywhere, a mom who bumped our table twice while passing us and didn't care to apologize (some of the rooms cram tables near the main walkways so) so we get it, the ambiance is for kids and nerds like myself but just trying to warn others since influencers will post anything these days. There's also nothing romantic about it for their Valentine's Day reservations and we suggest you go elsewhere. ComicX is a great place for families to take school age children that love comics, action hero's and Star Wars. Children are free to roam the 2 stories of the restaurant to view all the characters that are displayed in setting as they are portrayed in the comics or movies. We let the kids take our phones and take their own videos and pictures which they loved. ComicX's offers an adult and children's menu, the kids ordered the burgers and thought they were terrific (when kids eat we are all happy), they really loved the Butter-beers they split as a dessert (these are a cream soda dessert). From the adult menu we ordered appetizers, the Buffalo wings were crispy, hot and fresh and they didn't skimp on them, we also ordered avocado fries and they were very tasty with a nice spicy sauce. We also had the side salads that were very generous and well appointed not just a bowl of lettuce. One thing we really liked about ComicX was that they didn't nickel and dime you with arcade games and Comic swag for purchase. If you are a big kid that loves comics this is a great place to visit. We were visiting Phoenix and caught this on social media. Thought it would be a fun spot for lunch as we are fans of marvel, Star Wars and Harry Potter. It's in a nice outdoor shopping center with lots of food and stores. It definitely has characters/statues/wall art. It's tiny though and with people eating at tables, it's challenging to see everything or snap a picture. The service was friendly and are constantly challenged to get around people viewing items. Food was average to not great. It came out in cute ways (street cart, wagon, etc) but that's likely to distract you from small portions. We ordered nachos (missing avocado crema and jalapeños), flatbread pizza (soft like it came from the microwave) and corn ribs (over cooked and drowned in Mayo/tapatio crema). Our waitress let us know they were out of churro bowls and had churro sticks for our dessert but see pics (We compared it to 'Nailed It' show). My best assessment of the food was that they've made alterations to the menu descriptions but the food is nothing like the pictures. The environment is tight and underwhelming because you can't walk around and take it in -- you'd be standing at someone's table to do so. There was a PlayStation area but gaming was removed; a small pac man was brought in along one side. Imagine an attempt to create a cool spot for these themes like a rainforest cafe but it falls flat because it's not immersive but just lining the walls. This is a pass especially because it's own social media presence is so hyped. Try another spot in this shopping center and do a quick walk through here if you have fans along with you. read more

This restaurant is a family favorite! We've been there twice and each time the experience has been super. The quality of food is really top notch for a an Americana menu. I've had the French dip both times and just love it. My daughter ate the infinity challenge burger (part of it anyways) and it was a great burger. A couple of my family had the Harry Potter Butter Beer and thought it was really tasty. The service has been excellent as well. For my daughter's birthday, they even gave her free ice cream and sang happy bday to her. The whole family love the comic and movie memorabilia too! The only good thing about this place was the experience and the waiter. Our waiter was amazing and diligently checked in on our group for my brother's dinner birthday 05/07/22. The statues and decor was so cool to look at. Even though the experience was awesome I will NEVER go back to this place. Upon entry, there was an awful, dirty smell that flowed throughout the entire building. My husband and my brother both got the chicken fettuccine Alfredo and sent it back to the kitchen because it was bland and unappetizing. They did not get any replacement food because they both lost their appetite and ended up feeling "off". I ended up sharing half of my cheeseburger with my brother. One of the members from our party ended up throwing up at the restaurant after finishing his food. When the manager came over to speak with us, he literally told us that he knows that there has been food quality issues. My question is this, why would you invite people into your restaurant fully knowing that there are food quality issues and there's a possibility of getting somebody sick? Half of my party of 10 ended up with food poisoning. I should be spending my Mother's Day with the plans that were originally intended with my kids, but now I am stuck at home trying to deal with having a severely upset stomach and finding ways to keep food down. This place needs to be reported to the U.S Food and Drug administration for investigation. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. Worst service ever. I called to check on the wait and was told to make reservations. My family and I were sat immediately, even though we arrived 20 minutes PRIOR to our reserved time, so no reservation was even actually needed. We were sat quickly and once we ordered, our appetizers came out before our drinks, we waited at least 5 minutes for drinks after appetizers were already on the table. THEN once our main course was brought out, we asked three different servers for side plates and silverware, which we shouldn't have been sat without silverware from the START. We had 3 servers acknowledge that we needed silverware and side plates but choose to continue on with their own tables and/or turn around and walk back to the kitchen. At one point a waitress who I had asked for silverware from, came back to the table and said "we're washing some in the dishwasher now and we should have some out soon" my question is... WHY SIT TABLES WITH NO CLEAN SILVERWARE?! We then had our original waitress come over with silverware, 10-15 minutes after asking, and our food was already cold. Although she did offer to have it remade, at that point we were all ready to leave and utterly disappointed with this whole experience. I don't see this restaurant lasting long at all. read more
