Our condo complex is trying them out, and they will most likely not last. They don't do anything! And, if you try to reach out, they take days to answer and they do not seem to know the laws in our community. The maturity level of the people who work there is not acceptable. They do not come on site and do not help with issues at all. My thinking is that they will be fired! read more

I finally got Common Interest fired as the HOA for my complex. They were extremely incompetent and I suspect they deliberately told people their payments were late to get the late fee. They consistently gave me incorrect information and did not get many items corrected within a reasonable amount of time. read more

Received a notice on my car that I was parked in the incorrect parking spot as the parking spots apparently changed (was not notified of this). The notice said to call/email a specific contact to receive the new parking spot number. I called numerous times, only to be sent to voicemails. After leaving messages, no one got back to me. I also emailed numerous times as well with no response. Considering the notice on my car sent me to contact them, I would assume they would be able to help me with the issue ASAP, which has not been the case. We are paying a fee each month for the parking spot that we are not using simply because we were uninformed of the change in number and no one is giving us the new number. read more

Our property manager is Ryan Edelman and he's the most amazing manager. Out HOA used to have different manager and they were always detached and only care about the board. Ryan is so attentive, available and happy to help. I had multiple issues and he was always available for phone calls day and night, when there was an issue got us help right away and always in a friendly and empathetic way. I would recommend him to anyone as he completely changed how I feel about management company's property managers. read more

Worst HOA experience our community and myself have experienced ever - 1. Very poor communication/ responsiveness 2. Lack of action & responsibility for community issues 3. Extremely poor customer service. Very inexperienced with addressing community issues 4. ... all while increasing our community's HOA dues (higher HOA dues than previous, better HOA). Aside from continuing to increase dues frequently, it's honestly hard to say what things, positive or otherwise, this "management company" has done for our community. Homeowners had contacted CIMS regarding a community issue over a month ago. There has been no update and no real response about what will be done about this problem. Multiple emails have been sent to follow with zero reply. Extremely unprofessional and inexperienced with addressing issues requiring action. I have worked with a number of different HOA management companies over the years, and this is by far the WORST AND MOST UNHELPFUL HOA management company I've ever experienced. read more

I have a love/hate relationship with our HOA. Lisa, she's great. Mike, on the other hand, not so much. We pay high monthly HOA fees and expect to get work done. Last August our Jacuzzi broke. It's now December, FOUR MONTHS LATER, and the jacuzzi is STILL BROKEN. Mike has gone on to give every excuse in the book: heater broken, pool people slow, need to do an 'emergency meeting with the board' for some lame excuse, bottom line: THE JACUZZI IS STILL BROKEN! PLEASE FIX IT! There is NO REASON why a jacuzzi should take THIS LONG TO FIX! FOUR MONTHS? YOU as well have built a new one! So lame that we have to pay high monthly HOA fees and can't see results for something so simple as getting a jacuzzi fixed. COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE! read more

Have complained about issues in our Sausalito neighborhood, and they have done nothing to rectify. Common Interest just took over "property management", and I use that term loosely. I have complained in writing about garbage on our hillside, nothing done. I asked the leaf blower, as that is all that is done every Wed. to please remove the garbage. Not done. Giant truck is provided for a man who just blows leaves for a few hours in the morning. There are dead branches on trees, all over the neighborhood. The sprinkler system that watered a small piece of lawn, for about half an hour has not been turned on for months. The grass is dead, and at one time was lush. I do not think this company has ever even looked at the property. They are just collecting money for nothing. This company stinks. read more

Common Interest sent a contracting company to my home that set off the fire sprinkler in my unit and caused extensive damage both in my unit and the unit below. They did not have the common sense to actually send a representative from their company on the day of to assess. The rep from Common Interest said that they don't know who's responsible and said that of the many options it "could be an act of God" - and that I should run alternate lodgings through my own policy. read more

Common Interest does not seem to act in the home owners best interests. Since taking over our community, the HOA dues immediately went up two years in a row. Communication is very confusing and inaccurate about multiple mandatory major upgrades requirements at the additional expenses to the home owners. Misc fees for HOA to process the major upgrades are addition changes on top of the already raised HOA dues. read more

If I could give negative review, I would. Very bad management. They do not care about homeowners. They charge exorbitant amount of HOA and in turn gives very poor service. Anywhere from trash to swimming pool to monthly HOA money management. They cannot handle anything. Very poor communication and they should remove 'management' from their name and add 'mismanagement'. Actually negative infinity stars. This company is abysmal and utterly fraudulent. If I had known how bad they were at managing a property AND the excessive fees, I would have re-thought my move there. The fees are exceptionally high as is usual around this area but in the ONE YEAR that I"ve lived here the fees have increased and we've been stuck with 2 major excessive fees "not covered" (according to them not the law) by our homeowners fees. THOUSANDS OF $$$ If I had the time, money and energy I would take them on legally for dereliction of duty AND the excessive fraudulent charges they have charged so many people. IT IS A PERFECT LAWSUIT IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED Who even reads yelp reviews of management companies but if even one person from the company reads this just know that you are SHAMEFUL and the company is SHAMEFUL. you have a duty to the people you serve and you think only about your pockets. Their response is so poor. I called them multiple times just to have a conversation with a representatives. They act like they are super busy but they are not. The representative literally gives me no valued answer. Her answer for all questions is I cannot answer you that, you have to write an email to Melanie. But my answer was very simple: "I asked Melanie told me to write a check and dropped it off at your office. So, how can I receive the new parking permit, by mail or pick up at your office?" They do not ask me any detail of my vehicle nor my residence, then I assume they will hand me the parking permit directly but her answer was so disappointing. $100 is something, I want to make sure they will know who pay them and I can really get what I paid for. By the way, there email portal is totally messy and disorganized. I called them for help due to malfunctioned walkway lights. Unfortunately, we have to fix those issues by ourselves since they have never showed up to fix them. read more

Poor service! Do not sign with them! We have had no hot water in the mornings (hot water arrives around 12 pm) since August 8. We contacted our assigned contact, Veronica S., to address. Since then we have had 1 communication indicating she was trying to find a plumber and that was it. Four apartments are affected by this situation and no amount of e-mailing will get Ms. Sandoval to respond. Complete waste of hard-earned money! read more

People always complain about realty management companies, I did too. But today I experienced an incident that turned it around totally. We dropped a passport into the garbage chute by mistake. We were able to email Megan in the Campbell office. She immediately arranged everything to allow us retrieve the passport from the garbage within less than an hour! The most basic principle of good customer service is to return emails. I have had to send several emails over a month and a half. No response for weeks. I think they felt they already cleared it up in the initial email a month and a half ago and chose to ignore my follow up emails, but obviously it was not cleared up because I was still emailing checking on it. Take the time to respond and clear up the issue. Yes, it may take a couple of times sometimes to clarify. Simply acknowledge the customer by responding to emails in a timely manner. That's it. It takes all of 2 minutes, if that. Then at the very least the customer feels heard and not ignored. Honestly, most interactions I have had to have with this HOA have not been great. Every time I have had to, I walk away feeling not so good. read more

I'm sure you have heard of the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld where the guy who sells soup can refuse you service for any reason. He yells out 'no soup for you' if you commit some unknown infraction while waiting in line for soup. Hence his name 'Soup Nazi'. Very funny. Well Common Interest Management has its own version of the Soup Nazi. Perhaps his name should be the Zoom Nazi. While i was trying to explain in our open HOA meeting on Zoom during the owners' forum the issues of at least seven families suffering from lack of A/C in 100 degree heat and how no one from Common Interest had sent anyone out to do a root cause analysis (we have a communal system where water flows from a heating plant (if there is not enough water, the compressor shuts off)), a newly-minted VP named Frank Alioto said 'mute her and move on'. That is right. Alioto said 'mute her and move on'. Common Interest has its own version of the Soup Nazi, namely the Zoom Nazi. No Zoom for you! Needless to say, I could not complete my solution to the problem which was to send someone out to evaluate the issues. And finally three things: (1) I had not exceeded the three minutes of time allotted per owner during the owners' forum, (2) we help to pay the salary of this VP, and (3) no, I'm not frustrated. This company is unresponsive. They have not provided my account number to pay my HOA fees. They committed to providing the information by the end of June and it is now July 14th. My HOA fees might be "late" due to no fault of my own. I do not recommend working with them in any way as their strategy seems to be to push people to collections unfairly. read more

I worked with Millie and Mark on a problem of a very severe birds dropping from a big magnolia tree in front of my house. I first trimmed the tree to keep the birds from gathering. And I called Common Interest Management Service for help. They immediately sent a crew to wash off the massive droppings that covered a whole section of the sidewalk. After some discussion about the responsibility of the landscaping in that area, they promptly sent another crew to remove the big pile of the tree waste. Great service from Mike Allen of Common Interest. Despite the fact that the office was closed and he was off office hours, he was able to take care of my request promptly and with the utmost urgency. It was my first night in the new condo and I was without power, but Mike was able to quickly send someone out to switch the power on in my unit (all while I rudely interrupted his family dinner in my frenzied state). This was all accomplished in the span of a few hours on a Friday evening, when most people are checked out for the weekend. The reason for the 4 star review was because of a bit of a scheduling conflict for my move in slot. I was confirmed via email through the coordinator, but she had failed to record my time in the system - so I was double booked. The woman I coordinated with was out of office, unfortunately, so I wasn't able to clear things up with her. Despite this snag, moving itself went relatively smoothly. However, 5 stars for Mike Allen and his urgent attentiveness to the community he manages! read more

MAKE SURE, when you read review of a property management company, that you weed out the ones from irate homeowners who should be blaming their own HOA for problems - many of the complaints they list are caused by HOA rules or ineffectiveness, NOT the property manager! I am on the Board of a HOA on the peninsula. We had a few years of frustration with our previous property management company - slow action, mishandling of documents, general lack of communication and follow-through. We interviewed 3 property management companies and Common Interest came out on top immediately. Upper management impressed us: consistent follow-up to our questions, professional and knowledgable in meetings -and they personally answer many of the Yelp reviews. To us, this signaled an organization dedicated to service all the way up the chain. We've had the same experience with the Campbell office property manager assigned to us: he is communicative, prompt, professional, thorough, and very pleasant to deal with. They were a bit more expensive than our previous management company and worth every penny. We are so comfortable with our service that we've reduced the number of Board meetings; action gets done without the Board convening every month to keep our property manager on task. Common Interest Management Services Inc is the management company of our HOA for 2+ years. I have not had problems with company's performance with the previous manager. Right now I am not able to address my problems &, of course, to solve them, because the current manager, Diana Martin, does not return my phone calls & does not answer email msgs & during the coronavirus the personal visits are not allowed. My understanding that the returning calls is one of the main responsibilities of the HOA manager. read more

My roof leaked last winter. It took several months to get someone out to the complex to look at it. I was told "good news, the board of directors approved replacing the roof." I was also told the water stains on my bedroom ceiling were COSMETIC. I told the property management company I was NOT going to pay the HOA dues UNTIL MY ROOF WAS FIXED. It has been 8 months and the roof was only patched. I have called both the property management company AND the roofing company ALL MONTH WITHOUT ONE CALL BEING RETURNED. I am also reporting both companies to the Better Business Bureau!!! read more
