Been wanting to try this place since it opened. So I snuck out one early morning to visit. The cafe opens at 7 am which is great... definitely beats the rush. The place is super cute and definitely offers plenty of Insta-photo opps. The place has good coffee options ranging from regular drip coffee to concoctions that include Mexican staples such as Abuelita hot chocolate and Cafe de Olla. They also offer sandwiches, blended coffee drinks, and of course pan dulce. I ordered a café Americano and a sweet bread (pan dulce). I added half-and-half to my coffee when I got it. My first impression was that the coffee is very weak. If you are used to gourmet coffees, you will not be impressed by this one. I should have tasted my coffee before I added creamer. It probably didn't need any, which is customary in a lot of Latin American cultures. The sweet bread was dense and a little bit dry. It definitely was not like the kind that you would get at a Mexican bakery, panadería. I wasn't surprised since I had heard mixed reviews about this place... But I was a tad disappointed. I learned that they sell their branded coffee for $20 a bag, the bag is your standard size which you would buy at the store for $8 to $9, or $12 to $15 for Starbucks and other brands. The coffee at the shop definitely did not justify $20 per bag, which is what you would pay for something like Counter Culture or Intelligenstia Coffee. I really wanted to love this place... It gave me cute cozy café vibes but the food and beverage just did not live up to the hype. The customer service was good, the employees were polite and professional. When I asked why the coffee was so expensive, one of the girls behind the counter, answered that it was to pay for the branding. I do not think I will go back however never say never. My nieces are dying to visit this place when they come visit me so I'm sure I will show up once again. If you go, I hope your experience is better than mine in terms of coffee and food. Enjoy!

First time eating in & lucky for us it wasn't very busy so it was easy to find seating. The only thing is that they only have one baby chair available, and the one family who was using it was leaving so thankful we got to use it. I would hope they app maybe another 2-3 baby chairs to make it more baby friendly as well. Employees very friendly & patient with ordering. We were able to take menus to the table to view them & once ready, order at the counter. We didn't feel rushed to eat, place was nice, clean, pricing is usually what we spend at a restaurant.

This place is adorable and hits right in my Mexican American heart ! The place is photo ready so be sure to take your fancy cameras ! The service is fast! Daisy our host was super sweet, she explained their menu very well and she is bilingual so you can order in English, Spanish or my personal favorite Spanglish! Well. I think all the workers are bilingual! As for the food and drinks....what is not to love!!!! I tried the house coffee and it was brewed to perfection and so was the price! They have sweet bread and the Mexican's favorite breakfast cuisine! My mom had the pan dulce that was a cute little bag of mini bread which is a perfect pairing with coffee! I ordered the chilaquiles that were delicious! The chips were super crunchy and you can tell their chile is home made bc it had a good chili taste but not spice at ! I have already invited my yelp bestie to go again with me!!!! Definitely a 10 out of 10 ! I must say I love the location they chose because it's the first really cute spot on the east side.They also play the best Spanish music it's a great place for a perfect date or just an everyday cup of joe to brighten up your day! They will have their grand opening on Saturday, June 29,2024 so be sure to experience the joy of coffee and mexi breakfast!

I have been here several times and have enjoyed everything I tried. The coffees have some different flavors but they do run sweet. The bites (14ish) are flavorful but a little on the expensive side. They have breakfast food but I wish they had a few more lunch items. Overall a cute place.

Place is super cute and loved the customer service, however the food and coffee were just ok and bit over priced. We tried the Mazapán Frappe, iced café de olla (didn't taste fresh), the pepino con Limón and Jamaica refreshers were ok and the conchas were cute and passed but again overall everything was just ok. I also ordered a club sandwich, torta con jamón and BLT sandwich to go and unfortunately we all got tortas de jamón lol and didn't realize until we got home. The tortas were good. We would be open to give it another try if in the area but probably wouldn't go out of our way.

I went with my family to try Con Azucar Cafe. It is family friendly and cute little areas to take pictures. I tried the avocado toast, and an iced latte with oat milk (so they have non-dairy alternatives). The avocado toast was on thick brioche bread and was really yummy. My husband tried the duvalin latte which he said is on the sweeter side and tastes like a duvalin. Inside they have beautiful decorations, a swing for pictures, very esthetic. However, they do not have a lot of seating options. I stood up while I enjoyed my food because there weren't enough chairs. They do have a drive-thru option to make things easier and when you are on the go. We arrived and there were only two people in front of us ordering so we got our drinks and food within ten minutes. The staff are friendly. I recommend giving it a try or picking it up on the drive thru.

I was very delighted to see another Mexican drive-through at this location. Its look is very upscale and appealing as well. However, my first experience is less than happy. I ordered the breakfast burrito (with ham, sausage, and chorizo), $12.00 The staff at the drive-through window was very upbeat and polite. However, my burrito is a hot mess. It came wrapped in paper, cut in half, inside a clear plastic container. The customer service was good she was friendly and she gave us time to look over the menu since it was out first time and the food didn't take to long to get to us. We ordered their matcha and we were honestly disappointed we've tried matcha from a lot of different places in Bakersfield and this one has to be one of the worst ones unfortunately, it tastes completely watered down and had no sweetest to it I had to put 4 packets of sugar and even then it was still bland, I had my brother, mom and boyfriend try it and they all agreed we there was no flavor (this is something I've seen a lot of reviews complain about that the drinks here are bland in flavor) I figured the food would probably make up for it so I ordered their burrito and my boyfriend orders their torta. The torta was a 7.5/10 with the sauce they give you 8/10 the torta wasn't anything too crazy but it was pretty good. The burrito on the other hand was HUGE which I typically wouldn't mind but the problem was it was so soggy and wet to the point where it was falling apart and I couldn't eat it. Burritos are meant to be held in your hands so it really shouldn't be something to messy or completely fall apart on you, I'm typically not too picky when it comes to burritos but everything was just gushing out I was really disappointed. In menu picture it doesn't look like a wet burrito it looks dry and I didn't read anywhere that said the burrito is wet so idk if it was the cooks that messed up or if it's just not labeled either way it was so soggy and it wasn't wrapped well the food was falling apart the moment I opened it I just couldn't eat it as much as I tried. I really wanted to like the burrito but it was just a huge mess. The ambiance is pretty and nice I love the Mexican style all around. Our food was almost 50$ 43.99 to be exact, which to me is crazy because the drinks weren't good and I couldn't even eat my burrito maybe if the prices were cheaper I would come back again but overall the food isn't worth it that much, the drinks have no flavor and it's just to expensive I'd rather pay 50$ and go somewhere where they serve my GOOD food for the same price ! (I attached pics so you can see how wet and crumbly the burrito was)

Currently here on 4th of July. The cashier doesn't know how to communicate. She brought our food out and thought she would bring the drinks as well. She doesn't & 30 minutes pass and I noticed my drinks on the counter. She doesn't tell me. I've been waiting this whole time to enjoy with my food. She tried to tell me she couldn't make my sandwich because there were no cherry tomatoes. But still got my sandwich with cherry tomatoes. (The food was bomb asf tho) Hated my service and visit

I ordered the burrito, and it was nothing but egg. I didn't even realize there was supposed to be chorizo in it until I read the description on the menu later. The burrito was all egg, and the egg was burnt! I paid $12.00 for this, and getting a burrito full of burnt egg is ridiculous. I also ordered a pineapple Fresca, which was okay, but it was $7.00 for what looks like a tall size at Starbucks. This place is very aesthetically pleasing, but it's way overpriced for the below-average quality of the food. I'd rather go somewhere less decorated for good quality food. Super disappointed! I ordered un torta de jamón and there was a roach by my bread torta I took a picture and took my tray and showed them they refused to give me back my refund and they said they don't know how that roach ended there. Worst experience. I drove all the way from victorville just to try this spot. Waited 40+ min in the drive thru line, just to tell us that they couldn't make frappes because they didn't have the machine to make it. Why even advertise it on social media then? It is extreme false advertising to what you see on instagram. We ended up getting a concha cupcake and a pepino agua fresca. The cupcake was so stale and the agua had no sugar. It tasted like nothing. And they still asked me if we wanted to tip? Never again. read more

Went specifically for the coffee and concha's since that was the big buzz about this place. Greeted right away, very friendly and helpful. I wasn't sure on what to order, the young lady suggested the Shaken brown sugar espresso and it hit 100%. My son got the horchata frappe and it was also very good! The place is so aesthetically pleasing, it makes me feel like I'm in Mexico for sure, the food is amazing, great authentic Mexican food, my favorite was the Torta with Chilaquiles. Oh no this place is so overhyped .. the coffee is so Basic for a 8$ coffee. I bought 2 Conchitas had high expectations due to it being 1.75$ per concha and I was so disappointed. It was so hallow inside the bread and it was super dry. The bread had no flavor and over all just horrible for the price. The baker at Vallarta has better concha's 2 for $1 . Oh and FYI if you're going through the drive through prepare for a super long wait and make sure to have your card at hand because they do not take Apple Pay at the drive through. 8/10 on price. It was fair for what I got. Other things in the menu seemed to have a steep price. 6/10 on ambiance. The decor was nice and music was great. But it was very messy when we came in. After we got our drinks then someone came out to clean. So that brought up my rating in that. It would've been worse if no one cleaned at all. 6/10 on Customer service. Cashier was friendly and attentive, but didn't know what to do with a dairy situation. She was just frozen and I had to help suggest an option. Problem solving skills were not quite there. Barista was rude when the guest in front of me needed a drink change do to an allergy. 4/10 on Concha. The dough was bland but the topping made up for it. Kind of. 3/10 on Drink. I got an Iced Mocha Mexicano with almond milk. Coffee had a burnt flavor and yet it tasted watered down. The almond milk they used had an oily texture. My drink for some reason had caramel sauce, which seemed to have dairy even though I told them it was a dairy allergy. Therefore the employees are NOT knowledgeable on what is in their products. They should've taken the time to see what else has dairy. I've worked at fast food chains and we were taught that if you don't know what's in it, check. Better safe than sorry. You don't want a customer getting sick or worse. Nor do you want that liability to fall on you or the company. All together I wouldn't go again. It might be a better experience for someone else who just wants to go for the Instagram worth pic/hype but personally I love coffee and I wouldn't go back. I ended up throwing away 1/3 of my coffee. I never throw away my coffee which says a lot. And maybe the employees need better training on problem solving and how to treat customers with allergies. read more

I came in so happy thinking the food was going to be the best I got some chilaquiles with my mom and on my moms plate the egg was burnt also they didn't put chorizo on my plate but hers had it also I had asked if I can do egg whites because I can't eat the yolk I'm allergic to it they said they can't do egg whites so I just agreed to adding egg but I'm so disappointed the food wasn't even good at all maybe they should switch to a different cook :( read more

Was very exited to try their coffee and pan dulce "the concha with ice cream." The girl that took our order was very professional, patient and nice The coffees were delicious, and to see our picked out image on the coffee was cool Truthfully we were not disappointed, what we tried was delicious. BUT what was very horribly disappointing was the wait time in line to order. We did about 1 hr wait to order. Then the wait time to get your order, that was another half hour. Went to go try their coffee and concha's and had the best experience with my mom. We went drive-thru and it was super quick and the service was fast. It was our first time and when we pulled up to the window Chris gave us some recommendations for our next visit and even added cold foam to try it out. He was super sweet and helpful! Overall the coffee and concha's were great along with the service we received. read more

We make better coffee at home! The concha was way to much bread not so airy or soft didn't seem warm or fresh. Very pricey don't recommend at all. The place is cute but overall food needs some improvement. Don't let the content trick you!!!! Starbucks has better coffee than this place tbh. read more

Con Azucar Cafe is a fun and unique spot, perfect for getting that social media clout photo. They're known for their "Concha Gigante" and "Cafe de Holla Gigante," which are oversized Mexican sweet bread and coffee. The place has great art and even a swing for photos, and they give you a huge concha. While the conchas are enormous, the interior of this place is quite small, and it can be a struggle to find a seat. It's a sit-down place, so taking the giant concha and coffee to go isn't really an option. I recommend going early and having someone scout for a table while another person orders. This place would be five stars if it were bigger and my wife and I didn't have to share a chair. Despite my initial thought that the concha would be dry since it's a gimmicky food item, I was pleasantly surprised by how good, soft, and flavorful it was. The Cafe de Holla was also excellent; I had plenty left over for the next day! My father-in-law got the chilaquiles, and they had a good chorizo flavor. I'd definitely go back for the Manteconcha. While the Concha Gigante is good, it's more of a one-time social media clout item unless you have a lot of people to share the $40 bread. Ultimately, this place is great for coffee and bread. As I went there I saw that the menu prices were already overpriced and not worth it but still wanted to see what the hype was bout. As I sat down they had gave us a "free" appetizers and put campy and lime on it (they had charged us for it without even knowing". I had ordered arroz con leche and it was absolutely disgusting!!! Not only was the taste exactly like the store bough kind it had a bug inside. I had went with my precious grandma who grew up eating this food and she was so disappointed she had started to cry over how disgusting the food was. I came across Con Azúcar Cafe in Bakersfield through a popular social media post and was excited to check it out. Their main attraction is a massive concha (traditional Mexican sweet bread) priced at $38, which I thought was a fun concept, though a bit steep. Instead, we opted for a couple of cappuccinos and a bag of mini assorted Mexican sweet breads. Unfortunately, the experience fell short. The bread didn't taste fresh, and the cappuccinos were weak and lacked the bold coffee flavor I usually enjoy. As a coffee enthusiast, I expected more depth and richness. I recently visited con azucar cafe and was very disappointed. Despite the restaurant having a nice looking place and clean interiors, the service was severely lacking. From the moment we walked in, the staff's demeanor was anything but welcoming. They seemed uninterested and barely acknowledged us, making us feel very uncomfortable. After standing around awkwardly for a few minutes without any assistance or a friendly greeting, we decided to leave. It's a shame because the place itself looked inviting, but the poor service completely ruined our experience. I cannot recommend this restaurant and suggest they invest in proper customer service training to create a more welcoming atmosphere. There was nothing special about the food. My grandma could've done better at home and definitely not with $16 for a torta with ham. The staff is rude and unprofessional. The place itself smells and is dirty. Not to mention they're using fake accounts to make fake five star reviews. Don't waste your time here. Chris H recommended I try their specialty blended frappes and they are 10 out of 10 better than Starbucks! Will definitely be getting my morning coffee fix here, fast and friendly drive thru service that can make one's day or bring some joy into a bad day. read more
