Regardless, I go on Amazon order the part of $21 and and install in 10 minutes. They gave me B.S. about the part cost and labor time. I have taken my 2013 S4 to Conejo Precision for many different tune ups (oil change, new rotors and pads, and after market part installation). Every time I call, the owner (Max Anderson) makes time even though I have a busy schedule and can only come at odd times. My car overheated on the 101 on my way up to Newbury Park so I quickly pulled off the nearest off ramp #41 and made my way to the Jiffy Lube there. They could not help me as it was not a repair they could make. Conejo Precision was right around the corner and recommended by one of the guys at Jiffy Lube. I live in West Hollywood and did not want to tow it to an automotive service near my home (mileage was over the free tow service) yet was apprehensive to use a company I knew nothing about. I do not know much about cars and did not want to be "taken". It was a Sunday and they were technically closed yet they were there working on cars and helped me right away despite being closed and I must say that I felt very trusting after talking to the owner Max Anderson. They took excellent care of my vehicle and I was able to pick it up that following Tuesday and was not price gauged or any of the negative things that keep people from going to auto repair shops. VERY positive experience!! HIGHLY recommend! They were nice and helpful. I brought my car in because of a AAA repair done in Long Beach that I thought had gone bad, so another AAA mechanic was needed. I thought I was going to be happy. My car had died on the 101 while I was going almost 80 MPH. They got me in the same morning. Unfortunately, by the end of the day they let me know that my car was OK. They couldn't find anything wrong!! It died on the 101 at 80MPH ... Really, they're telling me my car is OK?? The next time I drove my car it died twice on the 101 from Ventura to Thousand Oaks. I will NEVER take a car there again... Not only did they NOT repair my car, they didn't care about my safety at all!!! Why they're with AAA is beyond me! read more

Max was able to give me a quick quote over the phone, and explained the whole process to me (very knowledgeable). Any time I called to check in, the mechanics were happy to fill me in on progress. Our 2010 Ford Escape suddenly developed an issue, running very rough and with low power. My husband took it to Conejo Precision Auto Repair and dealt with Max. He dropped off the car without an appointment, and that was not an issue for Max. Within a couple of hours they had diagnosed the problem (rodents chewed the wiring harness) and provided photos of an active nest, with an estimate for the repairs. We were relieved at how inexpensive the repair was (since having heard friends pay in the thousands of dollars for the same issue). We also wanted our front end examined due to a shimmy that occurs when applying the brakes. They diagnosed the car needed front brake pads and the rotors resurfaced. Again, the price for repair was very reasonable. Since we also needed to smog our car (the shop we use is right next door to Precision), Max had his crew take the car over there after they did their repairs, which was definitely above and beyond and saved us the trouble of handling that ourselves. The smog shop discounted our price due to Conejo Precision Auto referral. Overall, this was a fantastic experience with polite, knowledgeable professionals providing a fair price for great work. In 50 years of driving, we have never encountered such an excellent automotive shop. Too bad we can't give TEN stars!! read more

Max and his team are the most honest and reliable mechanics around. They always inspect my car so well, tell me what I need worked on, but never pressure me to fix everything all at once. I love that I'm given options, and never felt backed into a corner. Also, in the past I've been taken advantage of, by other mechanics, because they see that I'm a woman and assume that I don't know much about cars. Max has never made me feel that way. It was only after having my windshield trim come flying off as I was driving down the freeway did I realize what these people had done when they replaced my windshield. Underneath where the trim fastens to the car were broken clips and globs of glue that was used to try and hide what happened. Unfortunately, I won't be coming back. I needed a 40K service for my 2012 Jetta TDI Sportwagen which also needed a DSG transmission service. I called around for a good price in Ventura county and this place was hands down the lowest bid at $680 out the door. Also, the shop is listed on the TDIclub.com forum, which gave them added credibility. Joe told me that I'd have to set up an appointment early enough so that he could order the parts and make sure that they get there before my scheduled appointment. On 11/13/14, I called the shop to set up an appointment for 0830hrs on 11/22/14. I told Joe that I will call him on 11/20/14 to confirm and to make sure that the parts needed for the service that I asked for was onsite. I called on 11/20/14, spoke with Joe to confirm my appointment and inquired about the parts and he said, "I have them, see you on Saturday 11/22/14." I arrived on Saturday, 11/2214 at 0835hrs, a little late, but late nonetheless. Joe was not there yet, but Jim was there to take my name down. I filled out an estimate piece of paper for Jim because it doesn't appear that I'm in their computer system for any appointment that I made with Joe. Jim informed me that this type of work will require at least 4 hours and they'll call me when the car is done. At this point, I was the only person there and one more person behind me. At approximately 1330hrs, I was wondering if my car was done so I called them to inquire. Jim answered and he said that they haven't even started on my car yet since they've backed up on problems after another with other appointments and other car maintenance issues. The reassuring thing though was the problem is not with my car. I called again at 1630 inquiring about the progress or lack there off I should say. At this point, Joe answered telling me that they'd just finished the vehicle that they were having issues with and that he'll be starting on my car shortly. He added that it will take him a while to do this giving it the original 4hr estimate to complete. I told him that I won't pick up the car that night since the expected completion time will be 2100hrs. Here's the part where it gets even worse. Joe calls me at 2021hrs asking me, "Hey, didn't you say that you'll be providing the parts for the service that I needed to do on your car?" I answered, No. He informs me that he doesn't have the parts to complete the job and that parts that he needed were wrong. In my mind, of course I said, YOU'VE GOT TO BE SHITTING ME! You've had my car for 12 hours only to tell me know. I called 2 days prior to my appointment to confirm that the parts are there and you said, Yes. He ended up just doing an oil change on my car which he charged me $82, labor, tax and parts included. He tells me that he topped off all the fluids, rotated my tires and few other things. 24 hrs later, I picked my car on 11/23/14 at 0845hrs. Bottom line job not finished from what I had asked for. The problem here is two-fold, First the appointment system for the business is lacking. Someone has to properly manage these appointments so that the business can function efficiently. Overbooking, coupled with unforeseen circumstances led to the situation that I had to deal with. Second, when you say something is there... Check and see that it is actually there. I understand that you get parts all day, all the more reason somebody needs to check the inventory in to make sure nothing is double ordered or worse, not even coming in. The double ordering will kill the business capital since it could eventually lead to waste especially if the company that you order from will not take returns. I like to finish this review with something at least positive that I experienced from all of this. Joe at least told me that he didn't have what he needed to finish the job. If he was a crook, which he is not, he could have easily just told me that "Job's done", without actually working on the vehicle at all. However, that one positive from a host of too many negatives will not bring me back. Which is a small loss for his business since my wife and I have 3 cars and we regularly get scheduled maintenance intervals by auto repair shops. read more

This place is a joke. I left my car there for minor work, oil change and etc. 3 days later and about $1,200.00 later it was done? WHAT??? No oil cap, wanted new wipers, I was charged but old ones still on. Said I needed brakes, well ...had them checked after and the brakes are not touched but charged for them. Still the same. 3 days....that I could of got done in 1 hour. This turned into nothing but a nightmare. Grease on my floor and seat, REALLY? What is wrong with this place. I took my TDI in just after I had bought it used and asked them to take a look at it, keeping in mind that I had just bought it used and that I was going to drive across the country from California to New York. As expected the car needed a new timing belt and I asked them to go ahead and do that. However, when they said timing belt they meant JUST timing belt (they also didn't have the right tools for this specific model, you can still see the white out marks from when they took off the old belt and hoped they'd get the new one on in place), they didn't change the water pump or tensioner or any of the other parts that come in the timing belt kit. And what makes matters even worse is that the old parts that they left in there were the original factory parts that the car came with which means that there were over 200K miles with the original factory parts and I was happily chugging along across the country. I was annoyed by the shoddy job done on the timing belt replacement but more so by the complete carelessness and disregard with which they failed to replace the old parts. So not only are they cheats but also seem to have no consciousness at all. You're probably better of not going to a mechanic at all rather than going to these guys! read more
