This place is awesome! The location and interior was cozy and was perfect for a summer night (they have outdoor seating!). The place is a little pricey but you get what you pay for. Everything was well-made and delicious, and the service was great! Will come again! For dinner (which was more than enough-i had leftovers!), I got: -Their summer cocktail ($12)- the bartender knows what he's doing. Super tasty and perfect for summer! -Duck Prosciutto ($10)-was very tasty. Would recommend if you like prosciutto. It reminded me of the prosciutto that I had abroad. -Polpette ($10) - I ordered because it was a popular meal item and it did not disappoint. The meatball was soft and the sauce was super yummy! Perfect to dip in with the bread they give you. -Crudo di Pesce ($16) - My favorite dish of my meal. The tuna was very fresh and all the flavors meshed well together. Great, cozy dinner spot. It's small inside so definitely recommend making a reservation. We started off with decent cocktails that didn't taste like they had much alcohol in them but were tasty. We shared 3 different plates- the Celery Caesar, the arancini and the Margherita pizza. The Caesar was so unique in that it's base is celery, not Romaine. It was delicious and my favorite dish. Checked out this restaurant for the first time after shopping the SoWa Market! We did not have to wait which was great! Our waitress came over after a few minutes to welcome us! I enjoyed a glass of Rose while my husband had a Pink Flamingo (very good)! We started off with the Arancini, very hot and delicious! Then we split a pizza which was excellent! Great portions for a tapas place! I loved this restaurant and can't wait to come back and check out some other items on their menu! I totally lucked out as my dc for our inaugural trip to Coppa out in the South End just happened to have similar tastes in food. We both not only preferred pasta to pizza, but our eyes were caught by the same two dishes! To start with, as if the sliced crisp crusted bread that they had set out for us along with olive oil wasn't enough carbs, we opted for the Crostini Misti $11 Chicken liver crostini, pear and smoked ricotta cheese crostini, avocado smash and uni crostini. Each crostini was small, perhaps with the same courtesy bread, but toasted, and packed with tasty creative toppings. The uni came raw, so we asked for it on the side since one of us wasn't up for it. We shared two half portions of pasta: . Spaghetti Carbonara con Riccio dei Mare 16/25 ~ Imported spaghetti, pancetta, sea urchin, parmesan . Pappardelle alle Castagne 17/26 ~ Papparadelle, braised wild boar, chestnuts, parmesan, oregano Both came as al dente pasta draped in a flavorful sauce, but the carbonara won out over the pappardelle. And to finish, a small order of their Zeppole, lemon ricotta donuts, nutella, chopped hazelnuts 9 (for 3) / 12 (for 5). It was just the perfect touch of sweet to end the meal. Hot and crisp, we had to wait a tad to not burn ourselves on the freshly fried sugared dough balls. Even with the nice smear of Nutella in the bowl, with the assist of the large chopped hazelnut, it was more of an adult's dessert than that of a sweet toothed adolescent. I was excited to try this place since it was recommended to me by a friend, but I was pretty disappointed. The hostess was nice enough, but the service was not the best, and the food itself failed to deliver. I ordered the bass as an appetizer and the citrus flavor overpowered everything else so I was left with an unbalanced medley of tang and salt in my mouth. For my entree, I had the prosciutto pizza and it was honestly nothing special. I went to Coppa on a rainy day so everyone opted to sit inside rather than outdoors. I think all my photos speak for themselves, but I will add some color commentary here. From start to finish we had a spectacular experience. Coppa started accepting reservations recently, and the city of Boston lucked out. This intimate Enoteca on a quiet corner of the South End is an oasis of explosive flavor and fantastic service. We had an 8pm for 4, and they practically had to remove us from the building at closing time. I started off with the usual "we are about to order a lot of food, no judgment" to the waitress. I am not sure why I even feel the need to disclose that, because they probably love that we will up-sell ourselves. We started with drinks: aperol spritz of course for me, and my lovely friends tried the spritz with ginger and rhubarb. Next, we ordered our THIRTEEN ITEMS: Round One: Arancini, Meatballs, Castelvetrano Olives, Duck Prosciutto, Cheese Plate (one goat, one sheep, one cow), fresh bread. Round Two: cavatelli con pollo, carbonara, bone marrow pizza. Round Three: espresso. Round Four: tiramisu, zeppole. We ordered everything at once, and our server expertly timed it all perfectly where the dishes came out in a steady stream over the two hours. It was very much a dinner I remember having in Italy. The bone marrow pizza is life changing. The myriad of flavors is so unexpected and despite it being one of the last things we had, we all made room. I love heat, but will warn my fellow foodies that most of the dishes we had with red sauce had a kick to them, and the pizza had red pepper flakes. If you are anti-spicy, don't forget to ask for it on the side. I thought nothing could ever be the bone marrow pizza level of satisfaction for me, until the zeppole came out. Made with ricotta cheese and served with Nutella, these bad boys are so incredibly light and fluffy, and have not lost their character to the heavy weight of the fried exterior. Yeah, it's a little cramped and a little overpriced, but Coppa's quality is undoubtedly present. The service was excellent and the simple brick walls give the decor a warm feel. I tried the duck prosciutto and the smokiness was fantastic. Fatty goodness. :-P The pig tail was a little overcooked but the taste was good. The sweet onions were acceptable as accompaniment to the savory tail. The sea urchin and salami panino is an interesting combination and is a home run. The creamy sea urchin goes well with the salty salami. Both are pretty rich, though. The pasta nera (squid ink pasta with octopus and squid) was excellent. The pasta was cooked perfectly and so were the octopus and squid. It wasn't like I had to eat rubber bands instead of squid. The sauce is a tomato and peppery flavor. We had the most amazing time here!!! This is my new favorite restaurant in Boston. Coppa is located on a quaint Shawmut street in the South End. It is a perfect place to come eat or snack at on a beautiful summer day because there is plenty of seating outside. We visited Polkadog Bakery across the street to pick up some treats for my dog and then grabbed dinner at Coppa. Our dog was obviously with us which wasn't an issue at all because she sat outside with us. The waiters and waitresses all adored her it was such a comforting experience! Now regarding the food...we ordered the carbonara spaghetti with sea urchin and pizza split two ways between the Salsiccia and the Nduja. Both were yummy but my favorite was definitely the Nduja. The spicy pork gave each bite of pizza a nice kick. I don't know how to express my feelings about the carbonara spaghetti. It was simply exquisite! The sauce was so creamy yet eggy and rich. The sea urchin gave the dish this kiss of the ocean. I kept dipping my pizza crust in the sauce to soak it all up. I asked to tell the chef that his carbonara was better than some of the dishes I had in Italy. I feel like I have to have this dish with every meal now. How will I go back to normalcy?! We ordered the olive oil cake with peaches and mascarpone for dessert. It was just okay. Not what I was expecting. The cake was broken up which I'm not a huge fan of because the moistness of the cake was lost. Also the cake itself was too crunchy and slightly burnt rather than soft and fluffy. I also felt like the tartness of the peaches overpowered the dish- there wasn't enough sweetness. But that's just my personal opinion. I wish I had listened to our waitress and ordered the zeppole donuts. Which brings me to my next point...the service was incredible. Our waitress was very attentive and extremely sweet. What brought me to Coppa was the rave reviews and I'm so glad I came here, twice! Beyond being incredibly cautious about COVID-19, their pasta dishes are tasty! The spicy rigatoni has the perfect amount of kick meets sweetness with a dash of Parmesan. What I also enjoyed about Coppa was the outdoor ambiance and the neighborhood they're in. I came here for the second time (this first was 4 years ago!). I don't live in Boston, but it will now be my go to for great Italian food. The menu is tapas style, so they recommend you order 2-3 dishes per person. We came in for brunch, so we ordered off the regular menu as well as the brunch menu. The beef tartare, ribs, and the doughnuts were exceptional. The salad and pancakes were just okay. I can't wait to go back and try more off the regular menu. read more

Had the celery caesar salad (excellent except for the oddly disconcerting texture of super fine breadcrumbs...); burratta crostini (our crostini appeared, potentially burnt...I did sneak a peak at the table beside us - 3 inches away - theirs looked quite delightful/not-burnt), all ingredients other than the actual toast were delightful!; squid ink Bucatini with octopus - totally delicious, excellent on every level, all flavors, textures, etc sooooooo good; then we had the funghi pizza which included egg, excellent thin/crispy crust, runny egg yolk, needed more salt/heat; chocolate Gelato was perfection; cappuccino also excellent; good cocktails. So why only 3 stars WANTING to be 2 stars?? Their vibe/atmosphere is HEINOUS. Good God. Horrible. Everyone is packed in like sardines. It's a weird/odd/old spot, but whoever came up with this particular "layout" probably needs to be slapped. I got elbowed, hard, in the boob, just trying to get to the sad/undersized/un-dusted bathroom because it required I walk behind the bar seating. Whoever is choosing the music?? NEEDS TO BE FIRED. TODAY. Absolutely horrible. Loud, grating, screeching, you have to YELL at your dining companion. Who is 6" away. Because there is, legit, no actual room in this place. And the thing that REALLY REALLY REALLY turned me entirely off: they are using the absolute cheapest, rock bottom, bad silverware. How do I know?? I own a damn restaurant. In fact, it's a diner. And I would NEVER use such pathetic dining utensils. I'm not paying almost $100 per person to eat with horrible cheap diningware. Which includes the "side plates" provided if you are sharing dishes. We went here for brunch in Boston and it was incredible! The atmosphere was charming and the service was superb. Small plates make for a really fun and shareable meal. The Gazpacho was new on their menu and it was a home run! Very fresh and high quality ingredients. It was topped with a relish like mixture and clams that was to die for. The Pompelmo, caramelized grapefruit with pistachio topping, was the perfect the combo of sweet and sour. However, it was difficult to get the flesh of the grapefruit out of the peel. It would have been nice if they had scored it before broiling. Finally...the Hangover Pizza...just amazing. It was the perfect proportions of meat, peppers, cheese, and egg. The runny yolk and spicy peppers married perfectly, making it a truly delectable entree! We will definitely be returning next time we are in Boston! read more

I hadn't been to Coppa for years prior to a recent visit. Post-COVID Coppa is consistently bumpin' and, apparently, churning out awesome food. The good: the food. The pastas were all well-cooked and flavorful. The whole fish (branzino) was super flavorful and perfectly cooked. The wine list is small but full of good quality wines under $80 or so per bottle. The average: the service is COVID-standard. Order, drop off, no chatting. Nothing bad, just standard issue COVID stuff. The bad: Nothing particularly bad about my return visits. The reason for only 4 stars is that while the food was good-to-very good, it wasn't incredible. Just above average Italian in a fairly spartan environment. We used to visit coppa often pre c. always had a great experience and rated it a 5 before. The Carbonara is still excellent. The celery caesar has changed and become thicker, not nearly as much work to make as before..still good, but not great. We had a board..and this was the biggest difference. The charcuterie boards used to be a work of art. Its pretty much a basic board display, nothing to really fall in love with. Quality of food is still good. Coppa has an awesome outdoor space that I believe they built out because of Covid. They are strict on Covid guidelines and require masks at all times until you are at your table and if you need to go inside to use the bathroom mask and gloves are required. Came here with a group of 4 and we sampled lots of menu items. We shared a few apps, the Arancini and the cheese plate. Both were good but the cheese plate was microscopic. It would be good for maybe 2 people, definitely not 4. I shared two pizzas with a friend. The pizzas are a little bit bigger than a personal size and 2 was plenty. My other friends got pasta dishes and really enjoyed both. Definitely try to come during the summer and check out their patio in the cozy South End. Za and Rose all day! read more

Tapas are always either a love/hate kind of experience. There is always a sort of game of chicken and math wizardry when it comes to splitting the portions. How will we split 3 pieces of asparagus between 4 people? Should I pull out the abacus? The service here is excellent, and outdoor dining is very comfortable in the summer. It's pretty dog friendly, as I see tons of dogs walk by and there are bowls of water for them. It can get busy, and a little crowded on the weekends. Our order was a little postponed since there was a huge order of pizza to go ahead of us. The waiter was really attentive and apologized for the tardiness. In terms of drinks, I thought having an option that is completely random called the Bartender's Whim was pretty excellent for a lazy person such as myself. The grapefruit Tom Collins ended up being super refreshing for the heat in the summer. For the food, I think the pasta was a little rushed. The noodles were thick, and I felt like some of them were a little undercooked. Couldn't really taste the sea urchin in the Carbonara con Riccio di Mare. If you are looking for the squid ink pasta, make sure to call ahead, since it is seasonal. The pizza was really good, and the funghi(mushroom) pizza was really fragrant. They did have the option to add truffle on it, but my other friends were cheapskates. I would recommend to ask for extra bread after every plate to soak up the extra sauce. The meat and cheese plates were recommended, but we ended up not getting it, because some people at my table believed we should go to a deli and make our own charcuterie later for cheaper. The pizzas and noodle dishes + copious amounts of bread and water should be filling enough for you before you go bankrupt. Leah was our server and she was impressively professional - pleasant, knowledgeable, attentive (not overly), was able to give great detailed descriptions of dishes and spaced our order out just perfectly so we were not rushed and our table wasn't crowded. The service here was quite poor - we each ordered a pasta and my friend's order came out pretty quick and my pasta came out about 10 minutes later. I feel like that's one of the key things taught in hospitality is food for the table should come out at the same time. We were sitting outside and it was a cool day, so the option was to let the food get cold or have my friend get through most of her meal before mine even came out. The waiter did not apologize for this and just gave an excuse that it's a small kitchen and kept saying just a few more minutes. The overall service outside of the timing was also subpar - slow with the bill, didn't refill waters, etc. The pasta was overall pretty good, which is why I'm giving two stars. It was a small serving for the price - I typically have enough leftovers for a second meal when I order pasta, but this was just enough for one meal. read more

Came here Saturday night for our reservation and were seating quickly to a table outside. Once seating the service was a bit slow and took about 15 minutes for any one to check in on us. Although service started slow, it was quick once our server came and greeted us with fresh bread and oil. We ordered the polpette, ragatoni, agnolotti, celery Cesar, and tiramisu. The polpette meatballs melt in your mouth, the sauce is full of flavor and the perfect consistency. The rigatoni was the perfect amount of spicy and the Parmesan paired well. The agnolotti was a party in your mouth from the lamb, corn, goat butter and ricotta. The celery cesar was interesting, but very tasty. Would recommend to share this dish. We ended the night by taking tiramisu home to go and we wish we got more! The tiramisu is not ur average tiramisu, it's better and packed with Nutella. When I arrived at the restaurant I greeted the host and checked in for my reservation. The host attempted to sit us at garden like round table with matching garden like chairs on a wet brick sidewalk, practically in the middle of the sidewalk. They had seating beside the wall and on the deck, but this was a table that was pulled someone's garden and placed a few meters from the crosswalk. I asked if they had indoor seating, he replied 'it's a small restaurant, look inside' we asked the wait for indoor seating and he said an hour for a seat at the bar. Horrible first impression. Have no plans in returning. Thankfully found somewhere else for our anniversary dinner. They should have options for indoor and outdoor seating when making reservations read more

Second time I've been to Coppa now and I absolutely love their pastas. But this time I made the mistake of choosing pizza over pasta. My boyfriend and I ordered the uni panino which I was hoping to be similar to Toro's uni bocadilla and although it was only slightly different, I still prefer Toro's sweeter more "buttery" version. The zucca was absolutely delicious. The roasted squash and curried walnuts went very well together and the Yusuf kosho aioli was just the cherry on top. The arancini was absolutely wonderful no doubt about it 10/10 would recommend As for the bone marrow pizza, it was crispy and aromatic but very very heavy as there were literally globs of bone marrow all over the pizza. My mistake really for assuming it would be more spread about. However, the pizza did leave a bit of an aftertaste that left me wishing I had gotten the carbonara like I did last time instead. My partner and I decided to grab some take out from this adorable restaurant. We have never been here before, the atmosphere is great! It's pretty small on the inside and if you wanted to eat in with a group, I don't think your party could be larger than 6 people. There was good music playing as we waited for our food and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. The gentlemen who helped us at the front door were very pleasant and helpful, as the menu is a little complicating. But we asked a million questions and they knew their menu items very well and were able to explain EVERYTHING on it. We took a pizza to go and it was pretty good. Not the best pizza I have ever tasted but definitely still good. The pricing is average for the area so I wasn't surprised that the pizza was on the smaller medium size but cost $16. Coppa is known as a "must-try" place in Boston for tasty Italian small plates and for good reason. The staff are highly attentive and take great care in assuring that the diner's experience is wonderful. We weren't familiar with any wines on the menu, so our server gladly offered us several tastes to ensure we were happy with our beverage selections. We started the meal with the beet salad, roasted asparagus and Burrata. The beet salad was absolutely delicious, adorned with roasted almonds and goat cheese and atop a yogurt-like dressing. The Burrata was accompanied by a grilled nectarine and prosciutto. The combo of the creamy cheese, sweet fruit and salty meat was the perfect combo. We then ordered the chicken sausage pasta dish and swordfish. They were happy to prepare the pasta with a gluten free noodle. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the sauce was meaty with a touch of creaminess to balance the tomato base. The swordfish was also delicious and cooked perfectly. Swordfish can be dry and flavourless but Coppa nailed this dish. Coppa is definitely worth a visit if you're looking for different Italian dishes with a tapas style format. This restaurant is quite tiny and very popular amoung locals so make sure to get a reservation well in advance. read more

Coppa is a cozy little restaurant in the South End. In the summer it has outdoor seating where you can enjoy the sun with your meal. Inside is a little cramped but that adds to the cool environment and similar to what you'd find at their sister restaurant, Toro. I've been to Coppa a couple of times and can say that their pizza and cured meats are delicious. This time I went for brunch and tried the melon salad, breakfast sandwich, frittata and coppa hash. Everything was solid but it wasn't anything special. My favorite of the three was the melon salad since it was more creative and flavorful. The portions are on the smaller side but that's expected when it's supposed to be a shareable dining experience. Unlike Toro, Coppa does take reservations through OpenTable. read more
