You know how it is. You've flown from one coast to the other, taxi to the hotel, then try to figure out where to eat. As luck would have it, my hotel was across the street from Copper River Grill and it had the minimum Yelp rating necessary for me to consider patronizing the establishment - 3 stars. I was surprised by the lively Friday night crowd; there was a mix of young, old, and in-between. The service was attentive and fast moving (another surprise). I chose the bar for quick seating and to watch the Temple - Cincinnati football game. The beer list was meager but was indicative of a fairly well-developed pallet. I chose the Trifecta IPA, a local brew, and was not disappointed. Not knowing what to expect from the menu, I opted for things that are hard to screw up-wings and quesadilla. While I won't go into great detail on the standard bar fare, I will say that it did not disappoint. So, this place can get it done at a decent price and can provide above average service. Extremely noisy!! Sounds like dishwasher is slamming the plates on purpose. That along with the music makes the environment almost unbearable. Can't hold a discussion with the person across the table. Waitress not too attentive; waited 20 minutes for salad and in that time asked twice if everything was ok even though we had no drinks, salad or anything to be ok with. Read the 1star reviews before you waste your time and money! I sure wish we read them first before we wasted our evening in this place. Another huge warning sign is when a restaurant is only half full at 8:00pm on a Friday night! Dirty, trash on the floors, dirty booth, bathroom was just gross. Waited over half an hour for Luke warm fries. An hour in the bread showed up, cold. Waiter showed up at 1 hour with the soup, so cold the cheese would not melt. Then first entree showed up wrong and cold. Sent back, and waiting on the other three orders. After a ridiculous long wait we had enough and told them to just bring a check for what we had eaten. Waited again had to get the GM just to get the check. The only bright note is the GM did comp the soda and cold fries. This place needs a revamp and should close till it can get the basics right. I did fail to see the health inspectors rating before leaving. Poor service, dirty, slow, very slow, poor food quality for basic level casual dining. Go across the street to the cheese cake factory, about every other option is a better choice. read more

Visiting from our of town and thought the place looked nice. I wish we had chosen somewhere else. Slow terrible service. Bad food. The salad I order came from a bag. I know this because we sat next to the open kitchen. Servers and kitchen workers touched food with their bare hands ... we watched them touching their faces, hair and wiping hands on pants. Just flew in from Colorado and wanted to go back to what had been a favorite on previous trips. Walked in and the restaurant was half empty, told we had to wait 20 minutes for a table. Finally seated in the bar area, ordered a beer for myself and a milk for my 7 year old daughter. 25 minutes pass with no beer or milk. No help from the wait staff. Left without ordering a meal. Multiple hostesses and waitresses were indifferent to our situation. Sad to say, one star is too much. read more

We were in town for a few days and heard good things about this place...plus it was close to our hotel. We walked in and were seated in less than 10 minutes. The service staff was great and every aspect of the meal was awesome. We had everything from dinner salads to seafood and even a burger and everything was perfect. We opted to sit in the bar which was a little loud, but we also wanted to watch the football game on one of the many flat screens. Meal didn't seem fresh. Broccoli crumbs, plate was an overall mess when it arrived. Have pride in what you serve your customers. Worst steak I've had in a long time. Great service at the bar good pours but bad Sirloin

My family and I ordered dinner from the Greenville SC establishment through door dash on April 4th . I would normally not put a review up but I contacted the home office immediately because the food was rotten and they never responded! We have ate here before and the food was great , I understand things happen but this plate was so rotten it made me gag literally. First issue was the way the bag was packed everything was flipped over. Secondly I ordered blackened chicken Alfredo , when I opened the container it wreaked so bad! There was obviously something rotten in there I don't know if it was the chicken or the milk but it was horrible! I threw it away immediately. I had to remove the trash from the house completely that is how bad it stunk! I am highly disappointed. We have tried to support small businesses during this covid mess but come on Copper River this was DISGUSTING! Completely inedible and definitely noticeable before leaving your establishment! Went there Sunday night at about 8:30. The place was full and there was a wait but we got seated quickly. Waited a good 10 minutes for the waiter to come by and take our drink order - we were ready to order food but he said he would just take our drink order and come back to get the rest. Waited a long time for that to happen. Finally ordered and it took over 30 minutes for our food to arrive. Two of us had steaks and they neither were cooked as we ordered. I ordered mine medium and it was very rare; my son ordered his medium well and it was more medium rare. I noticed a man at the next table must have had the same problem because he sent his steak back. The other diners at the table were finished before he got his replacement meal. I had the loaded mashed potatoes that had apparently been put on the plate before they cooked the steaks because they were not hot and had a crust on top. Third diner ordered fettuccine and a baked sweet potato. It looked good but by this time it was close to 10 PM and she was no longer hungry so she took it to go. Waiter was nice enough but overall was a pretty bad experience. Looked like they hadn't cleaned under the tables in awhile either. I used to like this place but will probably not be back. read more

My first experience here. I just finished driving ten hours and wanted to get some quick drinks and food before hitting the sack. Everything was quick, but not necessarily great. The Yuengling was on happy hour so I chose that. One pet peeve of mine is serving draft beer in a glass that has been resting on Jupiter and is -276C in temperature. She brought me the Yuengling and Antarctica was floating on top. I generally prefer my beer without arctic debris and penguin hatchlings, but I guess that is how they do things here. I wanted something quick so I got the potato soup and it was subpar. It was greasy and there were as many potatoes in the soup as there were in a house in Ireland during the potato famine, which is to say, minimal. The bartenders were nice and attentive but the food needs help. Also, please don't bring my beer to me with the stipulation that I must wear NASA approved gloves to handle the 0 Kelvin temperature glass. read more

Terrible experience!! Ordered a salad to go for my daughter and got home with not only the wrong salad but it had a full glove inside! Disgusting!!! So I take it back to give them an opportunity to make it right. No sincere apology. Still had to pay even though my daughter could have been seriously harmed. I was staying at the Hampton next door and I liked my previous experience at Copper River Grill in Columbia, SC. This experience was not nearly as good. First off, I walked in and all 3 hostesses did not acknowledge me. I had planned on getting a table but since they decided that I must be by myself I just went to the bar. Once I got to the bar it was at least 10 minutes before I was greeted. I'd be okay with that except for 2 bartenders/waitresses spent the entire 10 minutes telling the 2 guys from West Virginia next to me where to go to smoke. I finally got to order and I went with the Ahi tuna sandwich. I was going to get a couple of beers and an appetizer but it took so long to make an order I just ordered the sandwich and didn't order a second beer. The sandwich was just okay. The bartender got me a second glass or water and offered to get me another beer while she discussed smoking laws. I declined, cashed out and went across the street and bought a few beers. The food was average, the service well below average. I'm staying down here for the next 4 weeks. I wouldn't walk across the parking lot to go her in spite of a decent sandwich. read more

Wow! What a horrible experience. After be seated we waited another 5 minutes for the high chair. Then we waited another 5-10 minutes to see a waiter... no not ours the table two tables down who was cashing out. The next table over on our right at least had their drinks during the wait, to place their order. Meanwhile a couple was seated at the table to our left, and their waitress was there taking their order within 5 minutes. I could tell the experience was only going to get worse, so we left quickly--never to return again. I guess the empty parking lot at 12:15pm (lunch) should of been my first clue. I went to the Copper River on Haywood Rd in Greenville, SC last night and had an awful experience. I was with my family (7 people total) and from just trying to make a reservation at 6 - we were told that wasn't possible that only 5pm would work (we were also told we had to leave by 7) - we had a feeling it might not be good. Our server was Sarah and once seated it took her 5 minutes to great the us and get a drink order and another 5 to get our drinks. She was friendly enough, but unapologetic to any of the delays then and throughout the meal. She took our order at 5:15. At 5:30 she came and checked on us and again at 5:40. At this time I asked where our salads were as we were all hungry and starting to wonder if we should leave. (Meanwhile the 7 top next to us who was sat after us, had ordered, received their meals and were done)At 5:45 our salads came out, again with no apology for the wait. At 5:47 out entrees came out. Half of which were cold. The other without ketchup's for fries/butter for potatoes. We were all not even halfway done with our salads. No apology. We would have said something to her, but she didn't return until we were done with our meal. We mentioned our entrees were cold when she cleared the table, but nothing was done. We saw no manager to speak to, no one checked on us after we received our meal. We did, however, get "checked on" by way of glaring looks from the hostess as I guess you all got busy and needed our table. It was the most unwelcome I've felt in a restaurant in a very long time. Went here for a late night dinner around 10 pm on a Friday night.. My first experience with this place was during lunch and I had a much better experience. Anyways for Dinner we grabbed the corn fritters, grilled romaine salad and the CR Burger ... The corn fritters were pretty bland nothing special ...I think they needed some thing like some roasted green chilies, a lil onion or some cheese added to them.. The Grilled Romaine was what I expected and was good for what it was. The CR Burger the meat it self was pretty good with all the toppings except for the "Country Gravy" that was nothing like country gravy...Again no seasoning and tasted like wall paper paste..They didn't let the flour cook out enough when they made it.. Ugh soo disappointed ... I may give this place one more chance in a few months to see if they get their act together. read more

This particular location was awful in customer service. Very, very, very disappointed. Walked in and was ignored by the hostess, sat at the bar- and was ignored by the bartender. A server was rude in reaching over my friend to refill napkins at the bar. We decided to leave after sitting there for minutes without being acknowledged but the staff. We got up and left without a word spoken to us from the staff. From the time we walked in, until the time we walked out: no acknowledgment and no words spoken to us. We had filet (Very tender, even to this steak snob; medium was a little too raw-red in middle), loaded mashed potatoes (I'd prefer without the bacon/ham, but quite good), Copper River burger (our teen son LOVED it!), regular burger, wings, She Crab soup (ok, not fabulous). Just had Mother's Day lunch here. Wondering if it is under new management because for the first time (after many visits over the past 3 years) we were disappointed in the food. Our entree salads which were to have tomatoes were greatly lacking. But the real issue was the moosetracks brownie sundae that was to have included chocolate sauce, whipped cream and Reese's pieces did not. The small brownie piece was hard. The two scoops of ice cream were the size of mellon balls --very small. For the $5.95 price tag we expected more. We just had this dessert at the Greer location 6 weeks ago and loved it. We waited for 30 minutes just to get our seat, then had to wait another hour and a half just for our food. My sister has food allergies and the waitress was obviously new and didn't know how to handle this so he said "i'll ask the manger." He came back and said "the manager said you can eat the chicken breast." My parents were like "is there not something else she can have like the pizza or mac and cheese?" he said "i'll see". Still not back with our drinks we ordered half and hour ago, he said "the main manager said you can eat everything but a burger bun." that was a big difference from what he said the first time, and since he allergies can be deadly, she wasn't even able to order anything safe for her to eat. we ordered an appetizer and got it with dirty plates, and ordered it without onions. it came very very very poorly plated and after we had finished, they came out with another one and said this is yours, but we never ordered another one. this was when we knew what screwed up system we were getting ourselves into. My dads tuna was not cooked how he asked while my mom got like a chunk of the root from the lettuce in her salad. My other sister's chicken fingers, came out with the wrong sauce and so did the rest of our food. this waiter didn't know what he was doing and i'm debating if he even went through training for the job. We got there at a reasonable time for dinner (around 7) and we're gonna get a christmas tree after, a tradition we do every year. by the time we were able to get out of this nightmare, it was 9:30. all the christmas tree shops were closed and it's gonna rain all weekend, so i guess we won't be getting a tree this year. Way to ruin our christmas spirit and fun copper river. You guys rly know how to destroy someone's night. this is the most unacceptable time i've ever had at a restaurant, and you guys just lost 5 customers that will never even consider going here again. read more

I am a fan of the manager Matthew and our server Sarah, but last week I was not impressed with the food. My family and I were dining last Sunday afternoon. Sarah was prompt and courteous to us (5+ stars for Sarah). While waiting for our order I noticed a worker slouched near the pizza oven sipping on a drink. A short time later a server other than Sarah delivered my she crab soup and my family's meals. My she crab soup was barely warm, and the baked potatoes were cold! Once Sarah stopped by our table, I apprised her of our food and the worker hanging on the counter. She immediately apologized and sought her manager Matthew to begin correcting our substandard experience. Matthew sat down beside me, listened intently, apologized, and implemented a plan of correction, including sending the inept worker home within minutes of my complaint. He personally prepared my she crab soup, had fresh potatoes served, and even discounted our ticket. My family and I would return to Copper River because of the personal service of Matthew and Sarah! I even contacted the Corporate office about our experience and received a prompt response. read more

The restaurant is clean and the food is decent...If you don't mind lowering your expectations. Out of seven meals ordered at our table, four were correct. The other three which all required BBQ sauce arrived missing toppings and sauce. We were told the sauce was under the cheese. We were given bowls of sauce and one meal replaced. However, the meal still barely tasted of BBQ sauce. Very disappointing. If you order BBQ, you expect to taste BBQ! If I could have given half a star , I would have only given 2 1/2 stars. We used to go here a lot, but it seems to me that the quality of the food and service have gone down lately. I was disappointed with my order of chicken fingers, as they were pale and not golden brown. The hamburgers are huge and the pasta salad is very tasty. The manager sheepishly apologized, threw the server under the bus, and explained the charge would be reversed in 3 days. He asked, "Are we good?" There was ZERO attempt to compensate us for our inconvenience. Not a dessert coupon. Not a comped meal. Not even a genuine apology. Waiters make mistakes all the time, and I know all too well having done it for years as a teenager and in my 20's. But the manager should have stepped up and made this ridiculous situation right again. Awful. Unacceptable. And reason enough to never step foot in Copper River again! read more
