Monascus Pork Was very tasty but also very fatty! I think they probably use a not so Great cut of pork belly because more than half of the dish was pork fat. But that did add to the deliciousness. Just I couldn't eat too much. I loved the pickles on top, helped cut the fat a lot! Spicy wonton has very generous filling to the point it's too much filling and not enough wonton noodles. Beef noodle soup taste very traditional to what you would find in Taiwan. If you pay with cash, they will give you 3% off the bill. If you pay with cash and spend over $50, you get 3% and a free drink of choice! But you gotta remind the server. The only thing I dislike about these small places is they don't really enforce the "no smoking" rule. Not that anyone was smoking inside but definitely ppl smoking right outside the restaurant. Came here for the first time today and the food is all pretty good! The red grain pork, pork chop, and popcorn chicken were all really good. Classic taiwanese favorites! The popcorn chicken was free after spending $70 I also really liked the wenzhou wonton soup. They are pork wontons and don't have shrimp. The beef noodle soup was ok in my opinion. I've had better at other places. And for dessert we got the hot mochi which is also one of my favorites! Service is also friendly. It was 8pm on a friday and not too crowded. Super solid. This place shows up on a lot of "best beef noodle" lists so I checked it out and it was pretty delicious. I got the 1/2 meat 1/2 tendon option (a couple dollars more) and it was a heavy dish. Plenty of noodles and enough meats to fill you up. Came for the beef noodle soup, will return for the homemade huge mochi desserts! These were chewy, big and filled with tasty black sesame and peanut - really amazing. As for the beef noodle, I still haven't found somewhere in LA that hits the trifecta of soup, beef, and noodles perfectly. The thick noodles are pretty good here - chewy great texture. The broth seems to missing something - like more star anise flavor I think. Beef was average. Don't get me wrong though. It was still a good bowl of beef noodle soup. Popcorn chicken was very good. I gave the Tendon Beef Stew Noodle a try. It was very flavorful and filling, but it did admittedly seem a bit on the pricey side at $18.53/bowl (using JTYH as a basis for comparison). On the other hand, the restaurant does provide a 3% cash discount, so that does help offset the prices. The staff was okay to deal with. Parking was not difficult to obtain. They now have upgrade combos that include cucumbers, bean curd and choice of drink (passion fruit/Wintermelon) for $3.50. Both drinks were good. Haven't been able to find that authentic taste at any other restaurant. Highly recommend. It's so fulfilling, it puts you to sleep. I passed out when I got home. When coming to write this review I saw others have said their beef was hard written a few months before I'm writing this, and they must have taken note because the meat was perfect. While eating it I actually couldn't believe how tender it was and I joked with my boyfriend, "what are they doing in that kitchen?" Because it surprised me how could every individual ingredient be cooked to perfection. The soup itself has a very deep and rich flavor and is unlike other beef noodle soups I've tried. However, the sauce may be lacking a little bit in flavor since it was more vinegar dominant rather than fragrant chili oil. The beef shank and tendon noodle soup was nicely flavored, proteins were extremely tender. But, the soup I feel like it's lacking depth of flavor. The mochi is freshly made so it was warm and soft, fragrantly mixed in black sesame and peanut powder. It wasn't super crispy but the flavors were there. Good blend with the spice. 8/10 You can't go wrong with the Beef noodle soup. The regular noodles were nice and chewy. The meat was really tender and not hard. 9/10 Spicy wontons was good, but wished the sauce was more mixed with the wontons. It seems like there wasn't enough sauce and it was just on the bottom. Overall, the flavor was great and not dry for the wontons. 7.5/10 Mochi with peanut and black sesame tasted great! No complaints. The black sesame was my favorite! I always make my way back to it because other places tend to be very rich and deep, but somehow corner's beef noodle is very light and refreshing. Came here to try out some of the rice dishes instead of the usual noodle dishes. First off prices have increased again so each dish will range from $16-$20 per dish, a pretty hefty price. I tried out these dishes this time around. Honey Lemon Aiju Jelly - What a delicious drink. It's rare to find Aiju jelly so seeing that this place has it is awesome. Not overly sweet but packed with flavors. I would go back just for this drink. (5/5) Taiwanese Sausage Rice - It's good, I like that it comes with tofu and some veggies as well. Sausage was flavored well and didn't think they were too salty or anything. (4/5) Fried Monascus Pork with Rice - The pork was crispy and super fried. It's greasy, probably too much for my liking. The pork pieces are also like 80% fat, 20% actual meat so it taste good but it's definitely not good for you. Personally I would avoid this dish next time around. (2/5) Glad I got to try out the rice dishes this time around especially knowing that this place specializes in beef noodle soup.
