I absolutely loved this place. I had heard about it, but never been there before. The workers had like a real family atmosphere, super nice and on point. I grew up very italian so to me there is nothing like an Italian deli to get a delicious sandwich from, I've had trouble finding that in southern California, but this spot came through. Turkey sandwich, no skimp on the turkey. Super good cheese, fresh lettuce, and I don't know what they do to their bread (maybe cocaine in it) but it's worth the deadly addiction. Their bread is amazing. They also have a very cool soda machine with a plethora of Italian style sodas and unique flavors. Ima def be there again. I highly, highly recommend this place!! read more

So a week ago I got a large All American sandwich and I told them what I wanted on it and what I didn't want on it and got my dad a small tuna sandwich but when I got home there was hardly anything on my sandwich No lettuce or tomato's or pickles and no roast beef or turkey just ham and swiss cheese and no avocado just mustard so I didn't eat the sandwich. my dads sandwich was supposed to be a small and they put the tuna on the large sandwich and no avocado and brought my sandwich back and I told them what had happened so they gave me the next sandwich how i want it made for FREE!!!! But when I got home they forgot the pickles. So Monday I get the same sandwich and they did put lettuce or pickles on it is why I asked for some pickles because I knew they didn't put any on the sandwich. When I got home they did not put lettuce on it. This has happened in the passed and started getting it right but now it keeps coming out wrong. I don't know if the guy who makes it has trouble reading what the woman wrote. There is some kind of miss communication happening. I told the new woman who helped me what happened and to make sure she checks to make sure they made the sandwich correctly and she did not double check to see if it was correct. I love the food the employees are nice and friendly but for some reason they can't seem to get my sandwich the way I like it. I always get roast beef and turkey no ham swiss cheese only lettuce and tomato pickles avocado and extra mustard no mayonnaise or dressing. I'm not trying to get a FREE!!!! sandwich I just want it made the way I like it is all. Other than that they are great. read more

Nice Italian joint with quality items and cold cuts, BUT not to my liking! Cold cuts in an Italian deli are supposed to be thin/shaved and piled high. These guys slice 1/8 of inch thick and fold it over inside roll, thick and chewy NO GOOD. Italian roast beef is supposed to be RARE, not WELL DONE. horrible. The good news??? Sausage n Peppers sandwich EXCELLENT!!! Highly recommend!! My next trip gonna try Eggplant parmigiana sandwich, will keep you posted n updated. read more

Id honestly eat here every day. As a matter of fact, I've been 3x this week‍ We've had a variety of things and nothing disappoints. Cortinas special, raviolis, meatballs, even their chips are good! My only gripe is the iced tea tastes like it needs to be cleaned out; theres a little funk to it. Otherwise we love cortinas! read more

Cortina's is a must! I think I have tried almost everything on the menu, but if you are in the mood for a fresh sandwich, come here. Don't go to subway lol. Their pastas are really good and I believe that they make their own pasta noodles too. Only thing is, expect long lines if you are ordering during lunch time or order online if you do not have an hour lunch break. read more

The food is very tasty. This is my 3rd visit. I've had a sandwich (sorry, don't remember which one) and 2 pizzas. All good. My only issue is the service. Every time I've been there, the empty tables both inside and outside are dirty. Getting someone's attention to get the tables wiped is hard. Food is good, but customer service is lacking a bit. read more

The 6" sandwiches here are HUGENORMOUS! The Rocky Balboa and the Cortina's Special were delicious, and the Rocky Balboa came with a side of broth to dip BOTH of our sandwiches in. Cold sandwiches come out way faster, so if you're in a rush and picking up to go, grab a cold sandwich! read more

I ordered the overpriced pastrami here at lunch, I don't know what all the hoopla is about here. The pastrami was greasy and a bunch gristle, I thought Boars head was supposed to be the best of the best? It sure wasn't today. I think people come here because it's convenient for the local businesses around here. read more

To paraphrase Jerry Stiller from Zoolander, it stings my like a fissure in my rear end to write this review, but I have to do it. The recent price hikes at this place are tough to swallow. $19.95 for a ten inch all American is a bit much. That price is made doubly hard to swallow by the fact that my $20 sandwich was on a stale roll. No great restaurant lasts forever, and it appears Cortina's time has passed. The public has already figured it out, the place was very empty when I picked up my food today. That might explain the stale bread, trim the orders and don't bother re-upping the lease guys. The party is over. read more

Tbh I've only gotten sandwiches here (Italian cold cut sandwiches, eggplant parm, turkey sandwich), but they've all been really tasty and generous in portion. The only negative thing I have to say is if you order in, it can get a busy and if you don't eat your sandwich fresh, depending on the sandwich, it might be a bit soggy. That being said my recommendations are to order ahead and eat it fresh if you can. Staff have also been solid and relatively nice. read more

There are sandwiches and then there is the art being produced at Cortina's. This is the simplest way to describe this family owned market. Let's start off with the staples of any good sandwich: bread that is soft inside and crunch outside but will not fall apart when packed with ingredients, quality meats vs basic cold cuts, and fresh condiments. You will find all of those things with every selection and it blends perfectly together. The service here is prompt and efficient and the ambience is modern but the interior can be a bit packed with the sheer volume of the lunch crowd but there is ample seating outside. If you are new to this place then would highly recommend the Cortina Special as it's akin to an Italian hoagie but on a different level. If this establishment were any closer would be visiting on a weekly basis and likely require permanent stretchy pants for my expanded waistline. Drool...eat...food euphoria...rinse, repeat, and enjoy! read more

Might be the best sandwich I've ever had.......Cortinas version of the Philly Cheesesteak sandwich is, in a few words, practically perfect! Their bread is always incredible and the way they cook the roast beef and veggies gives it a perfect crust and flavor and the addition of both American and mozzarella is definitely unique and a massive improvement from your standard Philly. My only edit was to add the spicy giardiniera. The bummer is that it was so good, I don't see how I order a different sandwich from here anymore! read more

There are so many options to choose from! I wanted a hot sandwich so I ordered the Rocky Balboa and it did not disappoint. 6" was way more than enough for me. I struggled to finish the last few bites. They are very generous with the filling and every bite was packed with flavors. Great sandwich, decent service. based on the name alone - had to order the Rocky Balboa. Can't walk past the italian stallion. What an incredible sandwich it was! Pancetta was incredible. And the broccolini was a nice touch.. I was surprised that I liked it but I definitely liked it. Would've liked a TINY bit more salt on it, but that's my only real complaint. My dad opted for a cold sandwich option (bad choice, amateurish!) - but he prefers it and loved the sandwich he had. I can't remember the name but it was their "signature" option. Overall, food was great. Service was acceptable, if a bit prompt. KInd of lacked that "flare" I like to see for the fifth star - but I'll definitely be back here for sandwiches in future. read more

The food is really good, the meatball sub is ungodly, I don't think I've had one that good before. The food tastes fresh and the serving size is large. A meatball Sammy that is 6'' can for sure be shared for most people. Thing is large. Great flavors and never anything bland. We have been there a few times and while I get the same thing each time it never tastes different. One of the best Sammy places I've been too. They do phone orders, online through here and in person. Pretty amazing Italian sandwiches. Extremely poor service/unorganized staff. Went in on a Thursday afternoon - the process to order was a bit hectic as there was a line that clearly wasn't organized and dividing into 2 lines. When I went up to order, the cashier decided it would be the perfect time for a shift change and had me standing there for a few minutes before directing me to the other cashier (things happen, I get it, but maybe have the other cashier take me next rather than leaving me to dry?). This was followed up by waiting around for about 20 minutes as I saw 3-4 people who had larger orders of multiple sandwiches picking up and leaving (they ordered after I had entered the store). Went up to the cashier and asked about my order - low and behold, it's been sitting on their service counter for the past 10 minutes. Not offered an apology - but thankfully the sandwich was pretty good! I'll probably be back, but will make sure to keep my standards for service at a lower level. read more

My third visit to the Orange location and this time I brought a friend with me. We ordered the meatball sandwich and the sausage sandwich split in halves we both enjoyed one of each. True to our expectations we were not disappointed. The meatballs and the sausage were plentiful and very delicious. Parking is adequate, very busy during lunch. My main concerns, which I'm sure could be easily addressed, are the not so accommodating counter staff and by that I mean this being my third visit I am still navigating the delectable menu without the friendly help. We sat in the outside patio enjoying the sunshine and light breeze but were taken back by the loud and annoying playing music, was clearly not mood setting. This place is awesome. I have been going to the one in Anaheim for years now and am happy to see the new one in Orange. The menu is basically the same but with a few new additions. One in particular is "Il Pasquale"...Seriously, just try it! They also added a gnocchi with pink sauce which my friend ordered and loved. We went at peak lunch time so it was a little busy but we did not mind waiting and let me tell you...it was definitely worth the wait and then some... It is true that they do not have pizza at this location but, in my opinion, pizza is more of an evening thing anyway and I still can go to the Anaheim one for that... Great food. Great atmoshpere. Very disappointed, I live close by really wanted to try this place. I came 10 AM as soon as they open. I wanted to order the prosciutto di Parma sandwich. When I first walked in everybody ignored me and the girl walked to the back. Finally she comes back and I order my sandwich but she had a very bad mood or attitude I don't know but I was not happy with her service. I'm sitting outside for 15 minutes and I walked back in to check on my food and they haven't even started making it. Definitely last time I ever come here. My wife and I love Cortina's, we visit twice a month. We're originally from New York and like to sprinkle oregano on our pizza, back home every Pizzaria that we have ever been to has an oregano shaker on the table. Whenever we ask for oregano at Cortina's they only give us enough for one slice even though we always order a large pie. When we go back to the window to ask for more oregano the pizza makers look at us with an upset expression on their face. Sure, the food is great, but on my last visit there were countless people without masks inside, despite a sign informing them not too. Nothing can stop the type of childish, despicable person that wouldn't wear a mask - but a restaurant like this is responsible denying service to them. Cortina's submarine sandwiches are the BEST in Orange County! I really miss the pastrami and the meatball sandwiches at Cortina's place now that I no longer live near here. It gets packed here, and I think this shop closes at 4 P.M. So, go here for lunch but budget extra time to wait. The workers prepare the orders as fast as they can, but it some times can take a half-hour to get your food. However, the wait is WORTH it! YUM! read more

The slice of banana inside the pancake gets almost caramelized and crispy. It's a must get. My mom and I couldn't stop talking about it afterwards. The blueberry pancake was also very tasty but it def got overshadowed by that banana pancake. A 10/10! Everything we grabbed was delicious. We ordered 3 sandwiches to go. All sandwiches were neatly put together and delicious. I ordered the #1 Special today which came on a French roll with roast beef, turkey, salami and provolone. The special is a half sandwich and comes with soup or chips and a fountain soft drink. My wife had the full size ham, turkey and bacon and a French roll. It was very good. Our daughter had the large beef dip with cheese. The large sandwiches are only a couple more than a small and a great deal for sharing or an extra meal later in the day. Service was friendly, and quickly assembled. A hidden gem in plain sight! Give this place a try, only open Monday-Friday 8am to 4 pm.

This place isn't even on par with Subway, although that is a pretty close comparison. Considering how readily available coupons are for Subway, I likely would have spent close to half of the $50 that I spent here at lunch for three people. I entered the restaurant at noon on a Monday and there was one person waiting for their order. When I figured out what I wanted, I went to the counter and, even though there was no one behind me, The cashier seemed frantically hurried. As if speed talking, he asked if I wanted everything on my Italian sandwich and what kind of bread, to which I replied yes and that I would like it on a white hoagie roll. He quickly asked me what the second sandwich would be, to which I replied, " I we'll have the lunch special number two." That special was tuna, but he said ham and cheese. Then the phone rang and he held his finger up while he answered the phone and took that person's order. When he came back to me after hanging up the phone, continued with ham and cheese and I had to correct him with tuna. At this point, there was one person behind me in line and I'm sure there was some kind of lunch rush coming soon, but I still couldn't understand why he was so frantic with my order. I rushed along with him to my final sandwich, meatball and made two of them, a meal with chips and a drink and ordered a side of macaroni salad. The place itself is large, but the ambiance is that of a high school cafeteria. My order was ready pretty quickly, but when I looked down at the order, I realized that he had not asked me if I wanted everything on my second and third sandwiches, nor had he asked what kind of bread I want it. As it turned out, I would have much preferred my tuna sandwich to be on squaw then on a regular hoagie roll, but oh well. When I cracked, open the macaroni salad and tasted it while I was driving, was immediately off. In some way. There was a tingling sensation in my mouth, almost as if it had gone bad, and the flavor was just wrong, almost as if they had to use something like miracle whip instead of mayonnaise? Anyway, I got home and sat down with my wife and daughter to have lunch. My wife tasted the macaroni salad and immediately to have the same reaction that I did. The sandwiches were fine and we finished them, but they were not exciting in the least. I don't know who is doing the ratings on Yelp for this restaurant, but I feel like I was duped into thinking I was trying a really exceptional sandwich shop, but it turned out to be mediocre (maybe even less so.)
