They have a simple menu with a handful of things and I love that. Easier to choose from. soft tacos to nachos to quesadillas,ect.. its set up like Chipotle but better! They make their flour tortillas fresh in front of you and they are sooo good. A must get when going there.. we usually just order a couple of them with nothing in them as an appetizer..lol. Their meat choices are so good and cooked over a grill in front of you. Our absolute favorite is their sweet pork..its so hard for me to have anything else..lol but I finally tried the steak and honey butter shrimp. Great flavor and char on the steak. Im not a huge shrimp fan but omg the flavor on theirs.. so good. Not chewy and cleaned well.. I got the small portion of the nachos with sweet pork and the mango salsa which is another big favorite... the small portion is huge and always stuffed after. My fiancee got 3 tacos. Steak, sweet pork and the shrimp with lettuce , cilantro and onions on top.. a great portion for lunch.. One other thing I love is that have 2 hot sauces you can take to the table.. I love Tapitio. We love this location and more importantly their freshly made hot food. We enjoy this company and its offerings and hospitality. My "bowl" made my way, rice, beans, toppings, sauces, proteins, greens, etc. If you don't like the food this is partially your decision. It's "shrimp season" so I ordered a shrimp burrito with pinto beans and roasted green chili sauce, and smothered with more sauce and melted cheese. They also put some lettuce with pico de gallo in the container with some added dressing. It was all tasty and so big that I ended up bringing half of it home to eat later. My husband had a grilled chicken burrito. The base price of a burrito is $11. 49 and it was an additional $2.50 for the shrimp and $1.00 for the chicken. Great food and kind staff. I have to say that I would have given 4 or 5 stars. I would like to. The reason I give 3 stars is because of how atrocious the men's restroom is. I've been to this location several times in the last couple of months, we have even told a manager. After that I went back and the men's restroom is still disgusting. The walls need to be steam pressure washed, the tile walls need to be detail scrubbed. The partition hardware looks like it has never been washed. I don't typically write reviews for chains because ppl generally have their own minds made up about them anyway. However I thought the chile verde burrito is worth mentioning. I come in for a salad every couple months when my craving for their tomatillo ranch dressing gets too strong but tonight opted to try aforementioned burrito too (advertised cleverly on the door when u walk in) with black beans and rice. I am always so impressed by Costa Vida. The freshly made Tortillas are definitely worth a visit on their own! My absolute favorite since day one will always be the sweet pulled pork. I could choose anything on the menu and will add the sweet pork no matter what it is. I honestly have never had a terrible thing here. The service is great and the staff are efficient and have gone above and beyond. The dining area is vibrant and very spacious. My favorite spot to dine in is the indoor enclosed area. Overall very pleasant to and a decent taco! I was starving after a day of running errands in Reno. I still had another stop and the 45 minute drive back home so I looked for a gluten free option nearby. This popped up so I stopped in. When I asked for the corn tortillas the guy helping, Brandon I believe, immediately asked if I needed gluten free. I said yes and he got a difference platter, went and changed his gloves, and made a no contact area on the grill. That was a nice change! I just got two chicken tacos. Two of my girls had Honor Roll coupons from their school for this spot. Haven't been here, and decided to use them this night. Food was decent. Nothing specifically to complain about. My youngest and oldest enjoyed the nachos. I thought the quesadillas and steak tacos were good. However my middle wasn't a huge fan of the enchiladas. I then ordered my food and a six foot young white male came in after I ordered my food and he was waited on while my food was prepared. He was catered to while I stood there waiting for the staff to get my cooked food in containers. Basically they let the man behind me in line / ahead of me - while after I waited 5 minutes for him to be served. I will file a complaint to BBB. This was insulting and very upsetting too. Another Mexican restaurant that's kind of a step up from fast food. At Costa Vida you order at a counter, and they make it in front of you (Subway style). It's a nice room, with booths and tables all around. Typical Mexican dishes, and the portions were pretty generous. They serve your food in a round aluminum pie tin (with a lid). It's kind of a novel touch, especially when ordering to go (like we were). The food was pretty uninspired, but that might have been due to the guy who was making it. We didn't eat most of it when we got home. Price was normal for what you'd pay for this kind of meal. But have to say I've had better meals of this type at Qdoba, or Chipotle. Even as you can see in pic it looks like one flat enchilada and not 2 as they are so tiny. Costa Vida is one of my favorite casual food spots! Have you had their tortillas? They are made fresh on the spot and you can taste the difference. I don't think even my fav Mexican restaurants make them in house. The desserts are top notch. There's usually key lime pie, tres leches and flan- each are about a two serving size. My sister and I once bought all three to taste just because they looked so good (and they were!) They usually have horchata too, which I confirmed on their website is non-dairy. The food is excellent- my go to is usually a chicken or steak salad. I appreciate that you can get it in multiple sizes. The steak is nice and tender- a stark contrast to Chipotle which tends to be tough. It's a good place to go with friends who have dietary restrictions- everyone can easily pick and choose what they want. Go! Eat the tortillas and save room for dessert! read more
