I used to be a regular at Cracker Barrel, but we stopped going because of the menu changes, slow service, smaller portions and price increases over the last 2 years. After the logo controversy, we decided to give Cracker Barrel another try today. Unfortunately, it was a disappointment. We were seated to a dirty table that was never wiped off. We were handed a new menu that had coffee stains all over it. We ordered the food and the wait was fairly long, even though there weren't that many people. There were 3 of us and they brought a basket with only 2 small biscuits. The waitress didn't return to fill our glasses or coffee the entire time. I ordered the Country Boy Breakfast with Sirloin Tips. This item used to include a Sirloin Steak, 3 Eggs and Apples, Hashbrowns and Grits. Now, it's ham or Sirloin tips and 2 sides, no grits and costs more. A single meal that used to cost $20 out the door leaving a $5 tip, now costs, $5 more. The food arrived lukewarm and didn't look that great presentation wise. It was ok. It wasn't like it used to be. The hash-brown casserole was tasteless and the sirloin tips were over-cooked with no seasoning. Regardless of logo changes or not, Cracker Barrel isn't a value anymore and quite frankly, the food isn't that great. I don't ask for a lot, but I think I should have a clean table, a clean menu, and hot food that tastes good. And it wouldn't hurt if the waitress refilled the drinks once. It's a shame, but I don't see Cracker Barrel making it. I know that I won't be back. Cracker Barrel had millions of dollars in free advertising from all this controversy. People will probably try it again just to see how it's changed. People may give it ONE shot out of curiosity, but they won't come back for overpriced, mediocre, lukewarm food. read more

Unfortunately, Cracker Barrel never recovered after their rebranding fiasco. So sad to see the decisions of unqualified multi-millionaires hurt great employees and customers. My experience today was to spend 15 minutes trying to order from their awful app. Upon checking out I found you can't pay with a giftcard in the app or online. I did however have an incredible experience with a worthless bot that was no help in solving my issue. Sorry Cracker Barrel. I tried to give you a second chance after your CEO insulted its loyal customers. That's okay, your food is way over priced anyway. read more

We recently ate at this location for the first time in many months as the last time the service was not very good. We were very pleased with the service we received and the friendliness of the staff this trip. We were seated promptly,the food arrived quickly and was very hot and tasty. The waitress was one of the nicest we had ever had at this location. The restaurant was very clean and well organized. The bathroom was very clean and appears to have an employee checking its cleanliness often. Had a to-go heat and serve order that was given to us incomplete. We had to drive 30 minutes back to pick up the rest of the order. We were given nothing for the inconvenience. Then one of the sides was given to us with all of the liquid from the side leaked out to fill the bag and we had to request a new bag and side. Service was fantastic. Came in for breakfast. The inside is your classic cracker barrel interior. I ordered a build yourself breakfast. I got bacon, country ham, and four eggs over medium. The bacon good. That ham though...that ham was so salty. It was unenjoyable. The eggs over medium weren't even close. The fried apples are always done right. I've ordered twice from this location. Absolutely the worst customer service experience. I ordered through a 3rd party, the 3rd party delivered the order. The problem was the store/restaurant who did not correctly assemble the order and left items out. I called the store and manager Ashley advised " there is nothing I can do" (how professional) the CB chat associate was not helpful.They only try to pacify with a "COMP" meal or a refund, I never asked for either. I also emailed them but I don't expect a response due to the treatment I have experienced from the others. We have been to this location many times in the past for breakfast and have usually received good food and service! Today , however, we decided to go for dinner. After being seated we waited 20 minutes for a server to take our drink order! The food when it arrived was subpar! I ordered the Friday daily special which was the fish. It was dry , hard and mostly coating. The macaroni and cheese was dry as well and lacking in flavor! My husband ordered fried chicken but received 4 chicken tenders which were also dry and chewy! He ate only 2 of them when is unusual for him as he usually devours everything on his plate! The quality of the food we've been accustomed to over the years seems to have deteriorated! Walking in we were seated right away, took the waitress approx. twenty minutes to get to our table for our drink order. It's not too busy here today, not sure why we had to wait so long. Ordered the one piece grilled catfish dinner with corn and carrots. The catfish was grilled perfectly. The corn was very bland, no butter, nothing. Absolutely don't visit this location. The managers are just an incompetent of their jobs as their staff is. They allowed a waitress to stay on the floor and wait tables while crying next to us after she told us no way she is fucking waiting on us. It was me my wife and our two sons. Just a quick side of the story we waited 10 min to get our drinks we waited another 10 min to attempt to order our meals and 5 or so min to get silverware. This location seems a bit overwhelmed and under-staffed. However, we were called for our table within the 10 minutes we were promised. Our server was courteous and attentive. I can't say I've ever had a bad meal at any Cracker Barrel, anywhere. This was no exception. My wife and I each ordered a Sangria, only to be told they didn't serve it anymore, and it was supposed to be removed from the menu. For my meal, I had the "chicken n' dumplin's", green beans and hash brown casserole. Everything came out in a reasonable amount of time, and was as tasty as always. I had quit going to Cracker Barrel because quality of food and service had gone down. My wife wanted to go to Cracker Barrel today while we were in Alcoa, TN. I was hesitant due to past experiences but to please her I said OK. Food was amazingly good compared to previous experiences. Misty was our server and was amazing. One of the best servers I've had anywhere. I asked for gravy for my mashed potatoes and she was back in seconds. The restaurant was busy so I expected slow service but I was wrong again. It was fantastic. I'll be back to this Cracker Barrel every time I go to Alcoa. read more

With Cracker Barrel, been to one, been to all. You know what you're going to get. Right? Arrived between the breakfast and lunch rush. Service was quick but all hot breakfast items we ordered were served cool. It's eggs, people. Not difficult to fry up and serve above room temperature. (The restaurant was not that busy, so no reason why all food was served at the incorrect temperature.) I may be a Brit but I have lived in southern states, and have many southern friends. Grits are not served runny, but "stiff" as my southern former Miss North Carolina dining companion commented. She took one look at those grits and rolled her eyes, asking if the cook was a darn Yankee. The service was fast ... so the two stars awarded are strictly given to service. No stars for food. I'm okay with the limited menu: no omelettes etc., but be prepared to have eggs fried or scrambled only if you eat here. Perhaps Cracker Barrel should call in some Master Chef juniors because those kids could do a superior job cooking up hot eggs and bacon. Very disappointing experience at Cracker Barrel. Also, given the increase in variants to the pandemic virus, the servers should be wearing masks as a courtesy to diners. read more

Picked up carry out this afternoon for dinner. I ordered the fried cod with fries and cole slaw. The menu says 4 pieces of cod. It would be more accurate to say 4 slivers of fish that is heavily battered. The cole slaw had a thick slice of the cabbage core in it and the steak fries seemed to be double fried as they were very dry and hard. Best part of the meal was the cornbread muffins. Quite disappointing; let me count the ways. 1) the greeter - the larger person with unruly hair - is unwelcoming. On a unbusy Friday morning, they tried to seat my husband and me in a small table in the center of the room. Didn't ask if the seating was okay - just plopped menus down and walked away. Looked around - many other options so we asked someone else to move us. 2 )Limited choices if you don't eat meat or have food allergies - although the fruit bowl is one good option - 5 pineapple chunks and two black raspberries. 3) We watched two parties of 2 arrive after us, order after us, and be served before us. Our order was simple; eggs and (overcooked) sausage for my husband and fruit for me. Not sure why such a long wait. 4) The coffee had an odd, metalic taste. 5) Stopped to ask one of the cashiers a question before leaving; waited while she chatted then stepped up to her. She looked past me to the other side of the room and asked if she could help someone. For a Cracker Barrel I was pleasantly surprised. We went at 9 am on a Saturday. They were busy and only had to wait about 5 min for a table. Everyone was friendly and our waitress was very quick with our order or any requests. She kept our coffee cups full. The food was proper temperature and tasted good. read more

This is the best place for morning comfort food. It's like home, friendly people and warm inside. Coffee and tea always fill-ups. Eggs perfectly cooked over medium and bacon nice & crispy. I reckon it doesn't matter how many chances you give a place, some places are just not going to improve. My husband and I stopped in for supper and when we got our food mine was cold. The waitress took it back and said she had the cook make it fresh and that it would be 5 minutes. My husband wanted to wait and eat his after I got mine but 15 minutes and still no food so now his is cold because he wanted to eat with his wife. We finally just said piss on it and left. The female manager stood at the kitchen door and watched us then had her waitress give us the bill without even coming to our table to see what our complaint about the food was which I think was completely pathetic to let the young waitress do her job for her. If you've read any of my reviews, you know that I'm very, VERY particular about my Cracker Barrel experiences. Having visited almost, if not all of the locations in the immediate area, this one is by far, my favorite. The food is always consistently delicious and the staff is always consistently kind and courteous. This location has a lot of traffic but they handle it with ease and I never feel rushed or experience long, unnecessary wait times. On my last visit, I watched a store manager go table to table, greeting guests and GENUINELY making sure they were having an exceptional experience. I will start off by saying our family loves going to the Cracker Barrel restaurants. We frequent CB's a couple times a month and our experience always boils down to the staff. For the most part they are consistent and spot on across the board. However we have been going to this particular one in Maryville for some time now and they just can't seem to gain any consistency. Management is present, however most are disinterested in the customer experience. The servers are hit or miss. We have had two very good servers and the remainder probably shouldn't be in the service industry as they come across annoyed and not welcoming. It's a common theme to wait at least 10 minutes after being seated to see the results of the waiter crap shoot if you are going to get one of the two all stars or the remainder of the servers who truly hate their job and/or you for just being there. Some training and some corporate attention could go a long way at this store and I truly hope they can find a way to turn it around. For now we will drive the extra 20mins and patronize a restaurant that enjoys us as a customer. PS....Don't ask for your eggs to be cooked in a "omelet style". That has been forbidden at the CB and you are liable to get a nasty response for just asking for it. read more

I can hardly believe I'm writing such a poor review of this location. Cracker Barrels everywhere are so predictable and delicious. I've never had an issue at any of the ones I've visited. 1. The cleanliness of the restaurant was pitiful. There was food on the chair seat and food all over the floor. I had to kick the food off to the side after I stepped in it. While we were waiting for our food to come, I noticed one of the servers cleaning 3 tables near us. She wiped the crumbs and chunks of food off the table and some of it fell to the chair seats and the rest to the floor. She did not pay much attention to the chairs that she wiped the food on to, hence the issue I mentioned above that happened to me. 2. After we ordered our food and it seemed like forever for it to come, the mashed potatoes were hard and cold and the corn bread muffins were rock hard and luke warm. The ice cold butter wasn't going to melt into the muffins. 3. There must have been an employee sitting behind us on her day off. She was chatting with the servers that stopped by to say hi to her. And then she was talking smack about a few of her co-workers. I'm not sure she realized how loud she was talking or if she just didn't care. Either way, that was rude. Our server was very pleasant. She took our order promptly, was slightly chatty with us (which was nice) and she was timely with the refills. So as not to be deterred, I will continue to visit Cracker Barrels in the towns I'm visiting including the ones I live near. I just won't return to this location. read more
