Father's Day and was ordering the country sampler with two entrees. Asked for meat loaf and country ham like I had done a long time ago. Was told immediately, "you can't have the ham". This is a great Cracker Barrel and right off the highway. While en route to home, my mom and I stopped here for an early breakfast. There weren't that many people there at 8am on a Sunday and it was perfect for us. We were seated right away and in the room with the roaring fireplace. It was nice and cozy. Our server, Tammy H., was quick and friendly. I appreciated her attention to the time and not dawdling, because we wanted to keep driving to get home at a reasonable hour. And the ambiance is so neat and cool as they are not only a restaurant but they are also a cool little country store as well! The ambiance is very country and homey and farm like! I have fond memories of Cracker Barrel and love their theme / business model. Our waitress and really all the staff that we interacted with were very nice, as expected. The Restaurant was clean. Big menu but the food was just.... blah. Seemed it was prepared in bulk from a box, not the homemade meal I was hoping for. Grits, biscuits and 'gravy'', eggs, broccoli casserole and fried catfish. None of it was 'good' or bad per say. Just blah. Not sure what else to say. I won't be back to a Crackle Barrel any time soon. When speaking to the workers they sound nice, but if you order DoorDash through them don't expect your food to be prepared when it should be. They Will specifically make those orders wait till the dasher Enters the building says that they're there and then after everyone else gets served they will work on the dashers food order which should have been started when the customer made their order!! This one makes Dashers late and can lose their jobs and gets The customers mad at the dashers because they don't understand that these restaurants do this!! If the order was made at 7 and the app for the customer says it should be ready for pick up by 7:30 the dasher should be able to walk in and pick up on time and make it to the customer on time!! read more

Surprised at how good the sunrise sampler breakfast at Cracker-barrel was. Sausage, ham and bacon, with 2 eggs, hashbrowns, grits, apples and toast make this a great meal to start the day. At 1400 calories, you should probably skip lunch, which I did as I was driving to another state. Service was prompt and I got my food with minimal wait. Everyone observing COVID and CDC guidelines. My husband said he thought the food was leftover from yesterday. After we finished we sat there for around 10 minutes waiting for a bill. Our waitress disappeared. We have been long time customers of the Strawplains Cracker Barrel but today may be our last visit there. The food was ok but coffee cold and the service was not good at all. Server came by one time and asked if we needed anything and I asked for more coffee and my husband asked for some lemon. Never received either one. Did not see our server again until she brought our ticket out and she informed my husband there was no hurry. If I had been sitting there, I went to the restroom, I would have commented that was obvious as she was not in a hurry to provide service. Had to finish your meal with nothing to drink. Our waitress helped answer my questions about the dairy content of certain items and shared with us that she has a peanut allergy and completely understood the situation. Went above and beyond to ensure we had a great meal and could get in and out quickly to hit the road. Lots of cute seasonal merch in the store as well! The food service here is EXTREMELY SLOW. Today I was on my lunch break and and after waiting over 35 minutes I asked the table next to me how long they had been waiting and they said they had been waiting almost ONE HOUR. I asked the hostess who was walking by how much longer it would be, because at this point I would only have about 15 minutes to eat if the food came now. She apologized and said they were short staffed and that both the managers were working the grill. She checked on my food and told me it would be another 20 minutes before it would be ready. I said, I'm sorry but I can't wait that long. I have to go back to work. I left. I eat at a Cracker Barrel somewhere at least once a week (often it's 3 or more times a week when traveling). I order the same thing almost every time (Country Boy Breakfast with eggs over easy and a rare sirloin. ). If it takes an hour to get THAT order, I don't see how any restaurant can stay in business. I understand that there are staffing shortages everywhere. I actually ate at this restaurant on Monday and Tuesday this week. The food was fine but service was slow. Everyone was nice but again, the food service was slow. Today it was super slow. Unacceptably slow. Most people just don't have more than an hour for lunch. I really hope you get the food situation fixed, but I didn't get to eat lunch today. I can't risk coming to your restaurant until you get your food service worked out. I order from this Cracker Barrel at Strawberry Plains at least 2-3 times a week online to pick up after work or on weekends to take to my elderly shut-in parents who live in Dandridge and I live and work in Knoxville. While I have had some experiences in the past that are not ideal and sometimes the food is not the best I have never complained. But today was the worst experience that I have encountered and nobody seemed to care or offer any resolution. I placed my online order at around 9:10 am and the order was due to be ready around 9:30 am. When I received my confirmation it said ready at 10:30 which was an hour later and that would not work for my timeframe. So I called to confirm because this has happened before where it would show an hour later but it was always pretty much on time. I called the store on my drive over there to verify or cancel the order. I finally got someone to answer and ask for someone working the to-go orders I sit on the phone for a few minutes and someone answered well they didn't do go orders so they put me back on hold. I was still driving which is about a 15 min drive someone else came to the phone as I was turning in and they also did not handle go orders I told her to never mind I was turning in and coming inside. I went to the area where you pick up go orders where I usually pick up my order. Nobody at the registers acknowledged me or spoke to me so after standing there for a few minutes I went to the host stand and told the girl what I needed to know. She went to the back and said yes they have your order and it said 9:30. It was now about 9:35. So I thought great it will be out soon. So I looked around the store and went back to the register area to wait. It was now 9:55 and mind you I only ordered an old timer's breakfast with a side of apples (scrambled eggs bacon apples and biscuits) how long should that take. So I saw a guy bring a bag to the desk and it looked too large to be mine but I ask him the name on it and it wasn't mine. There was a guy there to pick it up and I ask him what time they ordered he said 9:22 am. So his food was ready and mine wasn't? When mine should have been ready 30 minutes before his..this was around 9:55. I was literally in tears over this whole situation. Finally the nice lady said I am sorry I will go check for you. She said yours is back there but not bagged up. About 10:00 or shortly after a guy brought my bag and I ask if he was the manager which I had ask twice for the manager. He said no they are cooking because there are not any cooks. I took the bag and left frustrated and late to my mom and dad's I arrived to get their breakfast put out for them it was not warm and guess what?? It was wrong...no gravy and there was syrup in there but it doesn't come with pancakes. I hope that things can be made right. Not sure this will be my answer for my parents meals in the future. read more

Like another reviewer, you have made no distinction in the locations of each Knoxville restaurant. My complaint is for the location at the old Knoxville Center at 2920 S. Mall Road, designated CBO546 on the guest check. It took ten minutes to get my lemon and water. The waitress kept disappearing, and finally took my order after I waited fifteen minutes longer. The cutlery did not include a knife. Previously, I had terrible luck with the served food temperatures, and asked the lady at the next table, who was having meatloaf, if it was served hot. She said yes, and I decided on that, with sides of turnip greens, pintos, and corn muffins. The food arrived, along with a vinegar cruet, butter tubs, and eventually the A-1 sauce I asked for earlier. Without a knife, I could not cut the meat, nor spread the butter. By the time it did arrive the meatloaf was COLD! There were no napkins. Finally, I had to go to the kitchen to flag down someone for my check, which took another five minutes. All of this happened in an atmosphere of two employee children running around and shouting, which cinched it for me I would never, ever return to this location again. Obviously there was no deserved tip, so none was left. I completed the online Cracker Barrel survey to warn others, just as I am doing for those of you who take the time to be aware of issues when dining out in Knoxville, TN. This location has a consistent manager, training problem which has evidently not been resolved, or these things would not be continuing issues. No one seems to care in the kitchen about the serving temperature for food. The last time this happened, I walked out and explained to the cashier why I was not responsible for the check. read more
