Wow. This place was definitely surprisingly good. 10/10 recommended for families. Lots of choices in food, reasonable price at $28 for weekend dinner prices and kids are base on height if they are under the age of 10. The servers were non stop. They were nice/friendly and cleaned off the table pretty quickly for such a busy night. Food taste was surprisingly good and fresh, only complaint was the crawfish because it was overcooked. I even overlooked the restroom running out of paper towels and no large trash can by the door like at most establishments. I usually tip around $15-$20 for a single meal. The hostess or manager was extremely rude. She comes up to me and scolds me loudly in front of everyone. She would not do that with anyone else. Not returning and following through with the negative review I stated I would leave because she wanted to overstep boundaries and continue to scold me when we are not much different in age. She was obviously racist and thinks she can talk to people however she wants. Smells fresh and looks fresh service is outstanding but on the contrary, you must ask before you sit down how much your meal is going to be as the buffet will present to you a $28 charge Friday through Sunday and $26 charge Monday through Thursday +3 dollars for a drink. I think $28 for a buffet would be fantastic, but be aware as of any other Chinese buffet that you have been to be aware that this is exactly the same food same presentation as far as teriyaki chicken sausage the same old type of desserts with a little small chocolate cake that doesn't taste like chocolate it's just not worth the price especially $28 when there's other places that will charge 17 to save you a few bucks. Take for instance Uno in Irving fantastic food fantastic service and is relatively at 17 $18 per plate with less than a three dollar charge for a drink. My advice stay away from this place. I wish it was a better experience for the price. Upon arriving, I had to wait 30 mins and then another 30 mins in the pedicure chair before they started. The tech was nice and all and the salon itself is pretty. Once my nails got started I kinda felt like It was being rushed and got any better quality than a salon that didn't have all the "gimmicks." Such a disappointing experience! A lot of the food was cold. Like not just a little -- it was sitting there cold, and quite a few stations were not getting refilled at all. We stayed around 2.5 hours and some things we wanted to try never came back out. When we asked staff, it was really hard to communicate and we didn't really get any help. The biggest issue though was the kids pricing. The sign says "under 10 / not over 4.5 feet" but nobody explained that this actually means different price levels, and we were not told this in the beginning. Our kids are 7 and 9, very clearly kids, and they still got charged as adults. When we tried to understand it, we were basically told there's no other option. What made it worse is that this kind of pricing confusion seems to happen to other families too (I saw similar reviews after). And the responses from the restaurant don't really help -- they talk about "fairness based on height" but in real life it's just confusing for normal families.HOW IN THE WORLD IT IS FAIR TO CHARGE A 7 (SEVEN Y'ALL!!!!!!!) year old as an 40 year old man!!! I visited this place on a Saturday evening, the buffet was $38 dollars during this time. I was very underwhelmed with the food. The place was very nice and CLEAN, including the bathroom. The dining room is very large and open, with lots of seating. It had a very modern aesthetic. The buffet itself was rather smalll in my opinion, though I thought it was cool that they had a hibachi, noodle, & grill area where you could create your own hibachi or noodle ingredients and have it prepared for you. There wasn't a huge selection of dishes that I'd expect at a buffet but there was a variety. I'd give the food a 4 of 10 because everything I tried was just okay and none of the food was warm. I'm not sure if they cook everything ahead and reheat it or if they don't have a good heat lamp system to maintain the temperature. The best thing I had were the garlic soy crabs; they were seasoned nicely I just wish they were served hotter. I was there solo for a solid hour if not longer and I did not see them swap out/bring out more food very often. The waitress were pleasant and attentive to each table; everyone that came in was also greeted and seated very quickly. This wasn't a bad experience nor was the food terrible -- it was just okay. My family member patronized the hibachi bar and his symptoms were twice a severe as mine. He also ate the lobster and crawfish. For $30.00 each to get food poisoning is not a good look for this restaurant. I also took note that the buffet temp was subpar and lukewarm. I went on a Wednesday night with my dad and thought it was excellent value for what you get at $30 per person. During the dinner rush the wait for a table for 2 was around 20 minutes. The place was huge and looked modern/clean. You have your sashimi section, cold seafood bar, ramen/udon station, and hibachi station (they have scallops and salmon here!) up at the front of the buffet line. To the right you have their dim sum line. Towards the back you have all your usual assortment of buffet items you usually find at other Chinese buffet (including soups), but many dishes that you rarely find as well (they have frog legs, stir fried lobster, a Sichuan section, etc). You also have their dessert area (cakes, ice cream and ice cream bars, chocolate fondue, cotton candy) and the cold food section (I saw durian and pig trotters). To the left you have your sushi station (didn't know what most of the rolls were but they did have salmon hand rolls) and skewers section where they prepare beef, chicken, and shrimp on a stick. My personal favorite thing at this buffet was the Sichuan section right next to the skewers section. You have Sichuan boiled beef, Sichuan boiled fish, Sichuan boiled frog legs, mapo tofu, and sour or pickled Sichuan fish soup that were all excellent. My dad loved their intestines dish too, but I didn't try that. I probably got mostly full from that section alone. I also loved their skewers section and all 3 types of skewers were all delicious while being freshly prepared in front of you. I noticed many people getting the lobster, but it was mostly gone every time I passed by. The cold seafood bar is where you'll get your moneys worth. They had crab legs (hard to open without crab crackers), half crabs with ROE inside, boiled shrimp, and oysters. This section gets obliterated whenever it is refilled, but they did a great job at keeping new food coming out when I went. The sushi was good too, but all the rolls looked the same to me aside from the fish they put on top and the sauce. Maybe more variety with the fillings inside the rolls would help, but videos from other people on TikTok showed more variety of sushi rolls than what was prepared when I ate here. A unique thing about Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon is that they also have a sashimi section as well! You get unlimited tuna, salmon, white tuna?, octopus, smoked salmon, tamago, eel, and a few other fishes WITHOUT RICE. All the other Chinese buffets I've been to with sushi never have sashimi nevertheless this many options for sashimi. The hibachi was delicious and I love that they have scallops as an option. You could also go to the place next to the hibachi section if you prefer noodle soup. They had a marinated egg and chasu for ramen. I believe the two soup broths they had for the noodles were the tonkotsu broth and the udon broth. Dim sum looked good too but I was too full and only tried this dish with sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaf (which was great). Their desert area is also unique too. They plate various cakes (I got this green cake while my dad got a lemon cake) and have ice cream bars to go alongside your standard ice cream flavors. They even had a cotton candy section which was filled with kids lining up for that. Service was excellent too and our server was like a hawk clearing our table. He even asked for feedback on the food and other areas that they could improve on. All in all I thought this was an excellent buffet with a variety of food you can't find in other buffets in DFW. It was worth the extra $10 compared to the usual buffet I go to and I can't really complain about what I got for $30 per person at dinner time before tip. I'm glad that this new buffet opened up to give us more options. Also after reading the reviews from other people, I'm glad I didn't go on Thanksgiving. $30 per person during the weekday and $35 per person during the weekend is fair to me. We visited the host stand and they gave us a 30min wait time for 10 people, 4 kids, 6 adults; one of those adults was my dad who's in a wheelchair. After 30ish mins they didn't call us we had to go check on the status as to which they told us our table was ready. We waited for the host to walk us to our table only for them to walk us to a round table that was not going to fit all of us. My husband verbalized that this will not work for us since my dad is in a wheelchair and my son needed a high chair, the host expressed frustration and said "well it's bc you have 11 people and not 10!" We counted, and counted again and we had only 10! A table near us opened up and she refused to give it to us, instead she suggested we split our party up. My sister and her husband just gave in and took her family to the otter table. HORRIBLE service. The food was just okay. Nothing was ready, people were waiting for food to come out and once it did, people would grab everything as if we were in the Great Depression. My dad said he couldn't see well, so the waitress rudely cancelled the transaction, handed the card unit to me and said "have the younger one here do the transaction..." I had bad experience with the lobster, coconut shrimp and crab claws, dungeon crab just tasted like the seafood was dead when cooked. Luckily I did not swallow them but husband had a stomach ache.
