We were visiting San Diego last weekend and our friends had recommended this restaurant so we decided to dine there on 11/3/18. We were greeted by a less than helpful hostess who seemed bothered to assist us when we asked for outdoor seating. She told us there were no available tables due to reservations so we settled for indoor seating. As our meal progressed, we noticed open outdoor tables and asked our hostess again only to be responded with an attitude and rolling of her eyes that they had cancellations. We decided then to make the best and finished our meal at our indoor tabl I would recommend the food and our server was great, friendly and made up for our initial experience. We plan to return to Crown but will be weary if the same hostess is there that we will opt for other dining options in San Diego. So we gave this restaurant a second chance on Valentine's Day and this time we were pleasantly surprised. We met 2 other couples for dinner and we had a completely different experience than our previous. Our server, Marco, was amazing with the service, he was attentive to our needs, knew the menu well and made suggestions for best dishes. We decided to try out their Valentine special menu and were very happy and satisfied with the food selections. The steak's cut was great and I really enjoyed the risotto. Im not much of a red wine drinker but can definitely suggest the 2016 Conundrum wine that turned out to be rich and full bodied. This experience has renewed our opinion and we are certainly coming back. read more

I should have listened to my friend, who ate here for dinner and did not have much good to say about it. But, the breakfast menu looked pretty good so we thought breakfast might be better than dinner. There are a few things that worked in Crown Landing's favor. Our server, Margarita, was on point. She was helpful, friendly, and even pretty funny. She made sure everything was set up perfectly for us. The view was pretty nice. We ate outside and were able to overlook the harbor. Now, the food was not good at all. I ordered the crab cake benedict and it wasn't good at all. The egg was poached perfectly, but the crab mixture was missing a whole lot. I even question if it was real crab meat or imitation. My friend ordered the chilaquiles and they didn't look that great. The potatoes that accompanied my benedict weren't good. Since the hotel is so far from other options this is a good choice if you don't want to leave the resort. read more

We ended up eating at the Crown Landing quite a bit during our stay; with an infant in tow, it was easier to grab grub here, as opposed to packing up the car and going to eat dinner at early times in order to fit her schedule. While it can apparently get busy on holidays for brunch or for dinner, we had no issues during our several visits just walking in and grabbing a seat. Of note - 'The Bar' (as designated by the sign) in the Silver Strand Exchange serves the exact same menu as the main restaurant, so it's a more casual way to eat the same food, as well as having more direct access to getting drinks - the gentleman behind the bar is also the mixologist. Speaking of drinks, the beer selection is solid, populated mostly by local San Diego / Coronado options; that being said, I would definitely go with the cocktails - they are made with great care and attention, as well as some special stuff (in-house tequila infused with strawberries, or aged eggnog that is off-menu, as an example) that you wouldn't really expect out of the restaurant in a resort hotel's lobby. As well as having excellent cocktails, the food here is also done fairly well to boot. The Coronado version of New England clam chowder is not too different from what you would get back east, save for the (very, very) subtle hint of pepper that underlies it. You can't really taste it; the sensation comes more from the buildup of heat as you make your way through the bowl. It includes a generous portion of clams and potatoes, so it's quite hearty for an appetizer. The raw bar oysters were alright; I wasn't a huge fan of it TBH and felt it was the weakest food I had here. We were served Kumamoto and Kusshi oysters - two sweeter West Coast varietals - and both were strangely a bit on the briny side, making me wonder about how fresh they were. That said, another raw dish - the tuna poke - was really well done; it's served like a ceviche with avocado and cilantro, and it's hard to overstate how good really fresh, locally-caught tuna tastes...it makes the rest of the ingredients pop. The entrees here are also pretty on-point, although I was disappointed that my server misheard my entree on the last night and delivered me the grilled sea bass instead of the lobster roll I had requested (that said, they ended up comping me the sea bass - a very nice gesture). The aforementioned sea bass had a very nice grill to it and was quite flavorful. I only had a couple bites from my wife, but the roasted chicken is excellent - rich flavor from the chicken jus and succulent and moist. The bucatini with lobster bolognese is a delicious pasta dish - pasta cooked just right, really bright and lightly-spiced flavors coming out of the tomato sauce - but I felt the lobster, aside from being a small quantity, got lost amidst the boldness of the sauce. Even for folks who aren't staying at the Loews Coronado Bay, Crown Landing is worth a visit for those staying in Coronado proper, or even for folks in the downtown San Diego area. The menu isn't huge, but on balance, the food is excellently-done, and the chefs here don't try to do too much. The drinks are also very delicious - definitely top-notch cocktail preparation worthy of a focus unto itself. read more

Once we ordered, 2 hours passed, we still did not receive our food or even drinks. After watching countless tables arrive after and leave before us, we left. We ate dinner there on Aug. 24th. The internet pictures made this place look great. However, when we arrived, there was a universal feeling of being let down. It looked similar to a lunch type cafe and we expected something nicer. After trying to figure out where to sit (the inside of the restaurant was really cold and the A/C couldn't be adjusted because it connects to the main lobby--really?) we sat outside. We sat next to two ceiling high heat lamps, neither of which worked. So, the waiter brought us blankets. Things were going from bad to worse, so we thought. We ordered appetizers, drinks, and eventually dinner and they didn't disappoint! All the food was excellent. Service was very good, too. If they could only spend a bit more money and get the ambiance right......it would be a five star rating in my book. read more

The location of the restaurant is very nice at the hotel. We got the food to go while we stayed on property. I knew that getting seafood to go is always challenging and the seared tuna that I got ended up being overcooked a bit by the time I got it to the room. My wife got the chicken. She said that the chicken was fine but it lacked in sides. My kids got the Mac and cheese and the chicken tenders. No complaints from them. Overall the food was good, it was not something I would go out of my way for though. read more

Best meal of my life. Executive chef Chris makes otherworldly food worthy of a Michelin star! It was my birthday and the attentive staff made every attempt possible to make my visit memorable. From the opening appetizers of oysters to the grand finale steak - everything was cooked to perfection. Went to dinner here while attending a conference. The restaurant was pretty busy since there were 2 other large conferences going on, it is the only restaurant at the resort and the resort is not near any other restaurants. The food was tasty. We ordered the burger and fish tacos. It took awhile for us to get the condiments we requested though. By the time we received them, we were halfway done with our meal. The atmosphere was beautiful and the customer service was great. Our server was very friendly and likable. The only issue we had was that the drinks we ordered were not up to par. Initially he had sold us on a drink but delivered a different drink since there was a missing element to the one he described to us. Instead of running that by us first, he went ahead and served another drink and put them on the bill. We returned these drinks as they were not made well and requested he have the drink made at the bar in the lobby where we knew they were made to our liking. Again, he delivered a drink we did not order. It's not that the drinks served weren't good, it's that he didn't communicate they wouldn't be what we ordered before serving them. Maybe it was because they were so busy that he couldn't deliver the proper drink, but at the same time you should make sure things are right instead of just getting them out to get them served. read more

My amazing man surprised me with a great birthday dinner! Rene was our server, Sienna was hostess. Upon arrival, Sienna made a booth available quickly prior to our scheduled reservation. She was extremely friendly with a warm welcoming smile. Sienna even took the time and courtesy to let us know that it's possible we would get a breeze from the patio doors opening. The views are incredible from every seat, whether inside or out. We started with the crab cake which Rene highly recommended. What can I say other than it's quite possible this is the BEST crab cake I've ever had. And I freaking LOVE crab cakes. I had the catch of the day which was Grouper on top of fresh veggies. It was prepared perfectly and the presentation was absolutely incredible. Sadly I did not take any photos. The flavors all melded perfectly together. I'm picky. This was perfect. Bravo, Chef! Well done! The man ordered the "big boy" NY strip, initially he was hesitant about the pesto mint sauce. He ordered it rare-mid rare. This steak came out PERFECT. I had a bite along with the eggplant and what can I say?? Wow! The steak was seasoned perfectly, not over salted like most other places. He and I both highly recommend if you are a steak fan. Wine list was not extensive, but it was reasonably priced. We inadvertently ordered the most expensive bottle on the menu for $130. The mark up is reasonable and appreciated, no price gouging here. Dessert is currently between my legs. This is the icing on the cake and I can't wait to dig in... I asked Rene to surprise me because I needed a birthday surprise. I asked him to pick between my 2 favorite desserts, lo and behold Rene comes back and informs me the he took his 2 favorite components of both desserts and essentially made me a custom dessert, I'm so excited to try! My fiancé and I went here 12/22 for dinner, our first night out since welcoming our son. View is beautiful, boats and houses surrounding the resort that the crowns landing restaurant is in are lit up with Xmas lights and the ambiance is very nice. We sat outside. We started with appetizers, he got the hot bites octopus appetizer and I got the crab cake. We both liked our appetizer more than our entree. The crab cake was my favorite thing I ate but crab cakes are usually always yummy. Both plates were very good. I got scallops and it was okay, not delicious and barely any food. Way overpriced. He got the steak and also thought it was just okay, he said steak he makes at home he likes more, and again, way overpriced considering it's size and quality. We then got dessert and oddly dessert was the largest portion. He got the bread pudding (it was okay) and I got the chocolate mousse cake which was good but I've had better chocolate cake, it wasn't chocolatey enough. Dessert should have been half the size and entrees double the size although paired with an appetizer, everything was very filling. I also ordered a glass of champagne which was $25, super pricey but not shocking considering Loews is expensive. Overall, a very nice meal mainly due to ambiance rather than food however our appetizers were both grade A. The rest of the food was B-. Bread they give could definitely have been softer and better. Service was okay; waiter was just friendly enough (Barely) but was competent and efficient. read more

The restaurant is small, not a fan of booths for fine dinning. I was expecting amazing taste, and to be honest the food was meh. We sent back my sisters pasta because it was under cooked...like how do you under cook pasta?! I had the scallops it was ok (paid $32 for 3 scallops btw i feel like there should have been more), my moms tuna was ok, the taste of everything was just bland. My wife and I spent the weekend at Loews Hotel Coronado and decided to eat here and enjoy our time at the hotel instead of leaving and losing hours of our time having dinner somewhere else. I'm very glad we chose to eat here. I had the New York strip and she had the Scallops. We also ordered the Bianca Focaccia. All of our food was delicious. Stayed at Lowes Coronado resort for a weekend meeting. Did not want to drive out of hotel so we ate at Crown Landing. Ordered shrimp cocktail, grilled octopus, crab cake, and fresh catch of the day, which was pan seared scallops, plus strawberry margaritas and health Nut cocktail. We were happy with our choices. On 11/3/18, my friends and I came into dinner after the restaurant was recommended by friends. Upon arrival we were greeted by a rude, unfriendly host. When asked to sit outside she stated she only had an indoor table available due to reservations. Later to find out during the course of our evening their was only a few reservations. When I spoke to the host again she informed me they had cancelled rolling her eyes like I was bothering her, the server even told me there wasn't many reservations. I really only visit yelp to get a look at the food for restaurants as I feel reviews as to the quality of the food itself is quite subjective. That said, I came with the intention of having surf and turf and wound up getting burgers for all. These were indeed delicious--so much so that we could not finish them after also consuming salads and the appetizer. I would definitely come back again.
