I had been wanting to try this place for a while. It is relatively close to work and has/had decent reviews. I stopped in yesterday morning(4/25) around 8. The Corn Beef hash Benedict is a good size plate of food. I needed a box, which is rare. A couple dashes of green tabasco livened it up nicely. The wait staff could use some of that green tabasco though. Original greet and seat was okay, but after that, just blah. There were not enough people for it to be as lacking in attentiveness. Shouldn't have to flag someone down for a box or to take my card to pay for my food. And if you're going to announce you have to use the bathroom, at least make sure your tables are taken care of first or leave someone competent to cover for you. I went to Crust Kitchen while in San Diego for a music festival with my son. I ordered the Pear and Gorgonzola salad. OMG this is the best salad I have ever had!! We went back for breakfast and I ordered the Mediterranean omelette. It was also very good. Before leaving, I ordered ANOTHER salad to take home with me! I could not leave SD without that salad. I'm not even exaggerating but this was the worst food I've ever had during my mini trip in San Diego. I don't want to be a Karen but I'm not even kidding. I came here with my bf and toddler on a Friday night because it was the only restaurant nearby our hotel that we haven't tried yet. We went around 7 pm and there were only a few dine in customers. We ordered our food with some special requests. We got our drinks on a timely manner (wine and mimosa and water). A good 30 minutes passed by and we were wondering what's taking so long. Our server, who seemed new at her job, let us know that they're backed up and that our food was going to take a little longer. Ok cool. We get it. We gave them the benefit of the doubt... they're busy, backed up and more customers are coming in and probably struggling to get the orders out. MAYBE the food is worth the wait. So, we waited another 20 or so minutes. Food finally came and I could tell they messed everything up. This is what we ordered: grilled salmon plate and tri tip plate, THATS IT. First of all, why does it say "roasted veggies " on the menu when it's actually steamed?? I was expecting... roasted! I asked for no carrots, i got carrots. I asked if they had zucchini they said no but i got some anyway, lol??? Good surprise i guess?? I said no mashed potatoes but they still put it and my bf who wanted mashed potatoes didn't get it LOL. He also asked for medium rare steak and he got well done lmao. They didnt put potatoes and the peppercorn sauce that were supposed to come with his plate. I also asked for a side of lemon pepper sauce and it tasted like pure SALT in some sort of garlic sauce. No lemon to it whatsoever. Just extremely SALTY!! My salmon was on the overcooked side too. I understand it's not the server's fault so this review is mostly for the kitchen staff. But the server could've been more on top of it too. Wasn't asked if i needed more water, etc. The best thing was my son's mac n cheese and the garlic bread. It was such a horrible dinner that we decided to give them another chance by getting their cake slices. I got the german chocolate cake (I originally wanted their double dutch but they ran out) and bf got the carrot cake. They served it in the plastic containers they came in, not even plated. Ok, That's fine. My bf said the carrot cake was pretty solid and moist. Mine on the other hand was DRY and underwhelming. It's such a disappointing meal that i decided to write this review ASAP so i dont forget anything lol. Our bill came out to $79 and even tipped $20 just to support the seemingly new server. But yeah, this place was a bust. Never again. Wish we would've driven somewhere else to eat. Too late now! read more

5 out of 5 stars | I got the meat lovers omelette, and the breakfast burrito. The omelette was really good. It was very filling and flavorful. It was also very cheesy. The breakfast burrito was just as good or not better. You could either get it sausage or bacon breakfast burrito I chose sausage, the breakfast burrito was absolutely amazing with the taste the flavor and the overall yummy Ness. It was just amazing. The environment of the restaurant was really nice and inviting. Also the service was fast. This is one of my favorite breakfast restaurants I would recommend this to a friend. read more

We came here for breakfast and would not recommend it. The restaurant was severely under staffed and the server/owner Alex was passive aggressive. He started out really friendly but when he forgot to bring some of the drinks he blamed it on us for not ordering it. The food was not great. Tri tip and eggs was pathetic and a ripoff. Please do yourself a favor and go to the Waffle Spot at Kings Inn which is the adjacent property. Breakfast is 10x better and the people are friendly. There's a longer wait but worth it. Get on the Yelp waitlist ahead of time to minimize the wait. I m not sure how/why people are giving this place such high ratings. The low ratings seems to really reflect my experience when i ate here especially the rude service. I ordered huevos rancheros at Crust Kitchen an it was severely below standards. The refried beans were from a can with a sprinkle of cheese. The potatoes were undercooked and greasy and tasteless. The red sauce was also from a can and lacked that cooked flavor. The price was at least 2x the value of the meal. I cannot recommend anyone eating here. read more

We recently stayed at the Atwood Hotel and crust kitchen is on the same grounds of the hotel, it was very convenient to walk a few steps to the restaurant. It's beautiful inside! Very modern, inviting and very clean.The menu has something for everyone breakfast, lunch and dinner. We had breakfast and it was delicious. The service was excellent and quick. Literally the worst experience I've ever had in a restaurant. I understand it's difficult to find staff right now, but if you're unable to properly staff your restaurant you might be better off just leaving it closed or takeout only. We've been here for 2 hours with terrible service. It wouldn't be as big of a deal but my "fish and chips" (burnt breading and a puddle of oil) are literally inedible. Where do I start? Got here at about 8:45 on a Sunday. About 5 tables seated. It states to wait to be seated but the guy at the front waved to a row of tables and said "sit any where there." Ok. Waited a good while before server came over for drinks. ordered water for the table and coffee and a hot cocoa. Note the hot cocoa is $3.50 and is instant hot cocoa (the taste and powder left on the rim were a dead giveaway). After dropping the drinks the server tried to "give us more time to look at the menu" (we have had enough time thanks) we explained we were ready to order. I got the huevos rancheros, husband got the fried chicken and biscuits and got the pancake and egg for the kidlet. After 30+ minutes our food came out. People that were seated after us were done eating and had left before we got food. Not sure if our server forgot to put in the order or if the food just sat around forever. Our server did not really seem interested in helping us as evidenced by her few interactions with us. We had to get up and track them down to get a fork when we dropped one and to get the check. The food. Let's start with the kids meal. The pancake was so tough it hurt my wrists trying to cut it with the fork and butter knife. I had to admit defeat and have my husband do it. He drenched it in syrup to make it less tough and even he said it should not be so hard to cut it up. I thought pancakes should be light and fluffy not dense and hard. Huevos rancheros-it came with potatoes for a side. They were ok. Mine were straight up cold. It came with refried beans. Also cold. And thin but with thick large chunks in the middle. 2 eggs sunny side up on top of corn tortillas with sauce and cilantro. Also cold. Fried chicken and biscuits-chicken was good. Was luke warm ish the first few bites. Husband said the biscuit was over cooked. Gravy was good but since the food was barely warm when it came out and after wrestling the pancake it was cold. And we all know what happens to cold gravy. The atmosphere is nice. Like an upgraded diner. Open air pizza kitchen. Seats are metal with wooden tops so not comfy. Based on our servers lack of attention (we saw them at ordering, food drop off and a 2 bite check back when we were almost done, having to get up to find them to get silverware and our check) and the cold, meh food we won't come back. read more

This place is legit! I'm an East Coast girl, from Charleston, South Carolina. I've been staying at the Atwood Hotel and I feel so lucky to have Crust in my "front yard". Everything I've had here has been exceptional (and trust me.... I've been here everyday for a week!). My favorite has been the Pesto Benedict (I've had it 3 times) for breakfast and any of the pizzas is Phenomenal for lunch or dinner. This place has the worst customer service! I had came from a long 2 hr drive from LA and had breakfast at Starbucks at 8 am. It was about 1 pm when I decided to walk from my hotel to this cool looking liquor/pizza establishment on Hotel Circle. The liquor store worker was a cool guy. But the Pizza joint at Crust Kitchen was a horrible experience. Mask labels everywhere, mind you I'm wearing a mask. The whole entire restaurant staff had no masks. They guy took my order, no mask. I ordered and he said it'll be 15-20 min. There were no other customers, inside or outside (to wait for order). I waited 30 minutes for my order. I was already hungry and irritated. I walked inside and asked if my pizza was ready. He said 2 more min. I was over it. Don't go there. This business needs to be shut down. I'm calling the city/health department. read more

I ordered the chicken pesto pizza and added ricotta cheese on top. This by far is the best pizza I have ever had in my life and I have tried a lot of pizzas. I ordered a medium pizza which was still pretty big. It would be considered a large at other places. The presentation of this pizza was A1. But the flavor of this pizza was beyond anything I've ever tasted if I had to say there was a perfect pizza , This would be it! Miguel did an Amazing Job. Staying as a hotel guest adjacent to The Crust Restaurant. Ordered Postmates for coffees and some light breakfast. They proceeded to mess up my order and didn't bring our specialty coffees. Than told me to email him with the medical results !!!!! This is a horrible case of not understanding how to properly handle customer service . Never asked if my 2 year old son was ok, which as of now he is sleeping but I am worried I'm just hoping it was the sausage that caused it and nothing else cause I would hate for my son to experience what I just did. On Father's Day, they want me to go into the hospital get a massive urgent care bill, also present medical records of proof of food poisoning which he may not know is actually against HIPPA laws. But after showing that they took no ownership for this and even went as far to say I need to present medical records is absolutely insulting. Like implying I would be lying to what...? I've been passing this place by and have always been curious. I should have just keep passing it by...the place looks really cool inside and out. Our server was great! The manager not so much and that based on an interaction he had with another customer because he didn't really interact or check-in with us. More on that later. The food was decent. My wife got the Corned Beef Hash Benedict and I got the biscuits gravy and fried chicken. My wife was satisfied and I was also happy with my food. Although I wished there was more gravy and the chicken was boarding on overdone. We got waffles for our little ones and my oldest daughter order Country Fried steak and got served steak and eggs. The server was quick to put in the correct order. Unfortunately, it took more 30 mins to get our food and we waited an additional 20 mins. We had to get it to go. When we got home it was a sad to go box with not enough gravy. Very disappointed after waiting too long. As far as the manager goes he was not much of one. The couple behind us was seated right after us and complained that they were waiting 30 mins for thier food and the manager gave them some excuse and was very short with them. They waited another 10-15 mins and said they were leaving and wanted to pay for their coffee. The manager was even shorter and bored on rude by saying bye thanks! We had to wait a bit when we got there but the reason was that there was only 1 person working the front of the house. That includes cleaning tables, seating customers and taking orders. Aside from that being the issue, he was actually a very great worker, he got us seated and was very polite and quick with everything, I very much enjoyed the atmosphere and him being our server. This place was okay. The pictures make it look amazing, but none of it stuck out to me as such. The tots were probably the best thing on the table, just because they were crispy and hot. I love eggs Benedict- but these had a sweetness to them that just didn't hit the spot for me. The Mac and cheese was supposed to be baked, but it didn't come out that way. We asked again to clarify if pasta is considered lunch or dinner only and he confirmed that pasta is dinner only. The menu doesn't categorize menus clearly besides maybe breakfast & everything else. But either way, we were ready to proceed & simply chose another item to substitute the pasta. However, old boy waiter continued with his antics by telling my wife, "didn't you hear me say what was available"?!? " Maybe you don't hear right or don't understand correctly". It took every fiber in my body to resist knocking this A-hole flat on the ground.
