First of all, I think it's great conserving materials for our environment, but it literally only filled 1/4 of the box. The portions were not good at all. I mean, it tasted good, but I can get way better fries from McDonalds way cheaper than what they asked for. $5.45 was basically for a "med size fries" from McDonalds. Finally had the time make it here. I wasn't sure what to expect but I knew I was coming for the Taro and possibly the Matcha. You cannot miss this place at it is located in the middle of the block and the bus stop is right in front of this place. Ideal location for a business like this of course. The business itself is nice. There are board games insides, HD TV, tables, and ample seating for large groups. When you walk in you immediately see the toppings to your right. The stations for the toppings seem to have every topping that you can think of. You can actually measure out your toppings before paying but you cannot sample them. There is a big sign that lets you know this as well. The drink menu is pretty decent as well. I was looking to get a chocolate milk tea once I saw how many drinks options there were. However, they do not have chocolate milk tea. That is very unfortunate. But, they seemed to have just about every other kind of drink. I went on ahead and ordered two taro milk teas with boba and took my seat. There are also some food options but they are very limited. While waiting I had some time to check out the other local businesses nearby. This area of the city is quaint. There are a good number of restaurants in the area which makes dining a preferred option based on my observation. I'll definitely come back to this area for brunch, lunch, and dinner. As for the drinks, they were alright. There was a surplus of boba in my drink which I initially liked but then realized was not good. There was so much boba that I could hardly taste the taro. I guess next time I will have to ask for less boba or no boba. The sweetness was perfect though. I got to give them credit for that. It was a good day to get some taro. Ive ordered from here for delivery in the past and the drinks have always arrived tasting as good as I expected. Nothing stellar but it still hits those cravings! I came in for a Taro with boba and light sweetness and my drink was ready in literally 30 seconds! So quick! The drink tasted good and the boba was well cooked. They also have snacks here which is always a great compliment to boba. The store is small and great for to-go. We came here after dinner around 7-8pm on a Tuesday and there was just one other party there. The cashier was really nice and friendly and patient with our order since we didn't know what to get. We decided on the summer sunset which comes with popping boba and the lychee rose green tea and added lychee jelly. We got the summer sunset in 50% sweetness and 75% for the lychee rose green tea. The summer sunset felt like it was still 100% sweetened, if was super sweet even though we requested for 50%! The popping boba in it made it even sweeter.. The lychee rose green tea at 75% sweetness with lychee jelly was perfect though. The perfect amount of sweetness and flavor which I really enjoyed. This place also has a lot of board games and seats so it's a good place to chill and hang out with your friends or on a date :) I didn't try the froyo, but I plan on doing so in the future! This is a local boba milk tea shop that also sells frozen yogurt and snacks! Drinks here are made super fast and this is one of the only places that sells drinks of a reasonable price. The tea here has a very mom and pop taste to it! I usually like to purchase spam misubi or fries from this shop when I'm craving something salty and they always prepare the snack within minutes! I rarely write reviews for boba places because they're as common as Starbucks and most of the times, nothing is extraordinary about any of them. But, this time I felt compelled to (and also because this is the closest boba shop to me)... Previously Eggettes, then Rock-It Swirl, Cuppa is a huge improvement over Rock-it Swirl which was dingy and dirty (I remember one yelper calling it a busted Chuck E. Cheese's which made me spit my tea out!). It looks like it may be from the same owners (?) but they've renovated, rebranded, and cleaned up shop. Thank you for getting rid of that suspect faded red couch that looks like it was picked up from the driveway of the KOK house...the Kappa Omnicron Kappa frat house that is. Cuppa is a boba milk shop that also sells smoothies, almond milk froyo (65 cents per oz), and snacks (spam musubi, fries, potstickers, etc). Drinks are one size only ($4.50 - $5.50). Cc's accepted. Five star rewards program available (buy 9 teas, get 1 free). Milk tea is a weekend indulgence for me since I don't drink caffeine during the week. I ordered the Roasted Oolong Milk Tea ($4.50): http://bit.ly/2oEWjBr. I was very pleasantly surprised at how solid it was (for the area). It was perfectly creamy with a pronounced tea flavor. It didn't taste watered down like other places. I just wish there was more of a roasted nutty flavor. It had a more bitter taste which I think has to do more of the variety of oolong. There's a sign that says "...we're not crazy about sweet. If you love sweet, we'll create an 'extra sweet' drink for you". I ordered the milk tea regular sweet and it was the perfect sweetness (probably equivalent to 75% sweet at other boba places). They don't shake the milk tea so make sure to shake it BEFORE you stick the straw in, otherwise you'll be wearing your milk tea. My favorite Roasted Oolong Milk Tea is from STEEP (SoMa) and Tea Ren (Cupertino) but this is a huge upgrade from the artificial tasting milk teas that Rock-It Swirl served. Suggestion to Management: Kindly consider offering a small size for drinks. As much as I enjoyed the milk tea, I was struggling to finish the large size. It's nice to see that Cuppa has cleaned up Rock-It Swirl. They replaced some of the sterile metal tables and chairs with more inviting wooden tables and inspirational quotes on the wall. They've kept the claw machine, toy vending machines, and board games from Rock-It Swirl as I'm sure it's popular with the neighborhood kids. Thank you for cleaning up shop, Cuppa! PARKING + AMBIENCE Only street parking is available; I can see it being difficult to find parking, but my friend and I were lucky to discover an available parking spot when we arrived. The place is quite spacious with a good amount of seating available. This is a great hang out spot with multiple board games to utilize and a clean and nice environment. FOOD + DRINKS I got the Coconut Island Milk Tea because the presentation was really nice and unique. I thought the drink was decent. It was a bit watered down which caused the coconut flavor to be quite faint. As for my friend, he got the Lychee Rose Tea and enjoyed it, he really liked the flavor. My friend wanted a snack and got the Chicken Bites, which was decent for a snack. However, the portion was really disappointing. Most places I've been to usually fill the containers up with the snack to the brim, but the chicken bites was only half filled. We saw someone else's fries was filled to the brim, so my friend questioned why they didn't apply the same generous portion for his chicken bites as well. SERVICE The workers are friendly but the pick up process should be more organized. The worker wasn't keeping track of the pick ups which caused my friend's drink to be taken by someone else. Please confirm with people so that they don't mistakenly pick up the wrong order. CONCLUSION Overall, this place has potential and I would still check them out if you're around the area and looking for a place to get boba/snacks. When they advertise not liking drinks too sweet....they really meant it! Decided to stop by and have a few drinks and a snack with a friend. I ordered a jasmine green milk tea at 50% sweet but found it to be incredibly refreshing but tepid in flavor. Most of would probably be up in arms about how "watered down" it was but at least I have my setpoint. Though 50% is my norm at all other boba shops, I'll probably opt for 75% sweet and stick to black teas moving forward at cuppa. As for our snack, we shared 3 spam musbis which are made fresh. Flavorwise, I thought they were pretty good. Only shortfall was the rice which was too crumbly and heavily relied on the sauce for flavor. Other places tend to have a more glutinous Japanese short grain that has both the musubi sauce and mirin to amplify the flavor and keep everything together. I moved to Glen Park (next to the Glen Park Bart Station) not too long ago and was really psyched to see that there was actually a place that sells boba! This is like a non-Asian neighborhood, so... I didn't really think there would have been one lol. Anyways, I regularly get their iced lychee rose green tea with boba (not milk tea) and I have been pretty satisfied with them. For their milk teas, they really try to emphasize the tea flavor in them, so if you like your milk tea sweet like I do (think Boba Guys 100% sweetness), be sure to ask them to make it extra sweet! One thing that I thought was pretty cool about this place was that when my girlfriend visited, she wanted to get a strawberry milk tea, which wasn't on the menu at the time (I don't remember if it is now). So we asked if they had it anyways, and they actually improvised and made a cup by using strawberry flavoring that they used to make their strawberry smoothies or something! Update: - came here again today with some friends tried rose lychee and matcha again and it was much better! The owner of the shop was actually here today and she made our drinks! I totally recommend the rose lychee drink now seeing how it's made in the right way. She also apologized saying that everyone is being trained which makes sense. Tried most of the flavors and the machines were difficult to operate. All the flavors were inconsistent textures and most dripped everywhere, making a mess on my fingers and the machines. All the flavors were disappointing. Came here for the almond froyo which is a flavor I never see. I expected it to taste like chinese almond pudding, but it was mainly tasteless.
