The food is really good here. The staff seems to preemptively take away my food though when I'm still eating and not done. I came here once in the past - prepandemic- and the lady took away my water. I had the 8oz filet and ....I was thirsty and...I paid for that! But futile to complain because I wasn't about to open another bottle. :/ The table had good cheesy bread and other assorted breads. The last time I recently went it was lunch time - I had some steak and switched the fries for more of the salad, which was great. But then the person took away my bread that I was eating...you know, the best part ..the middle!! They must be given that instruction to do that so they can accommodate new people. It's a bit undesirable to stay and converse if you don't even have your drink still because they took it. So Good if you don't have a lot of time to kill but you just feel rushed out at the end. :) read more

One of the few steakhouses in NYC that have prime halal steaks on their menu. Cut is situated right off the lobby of Four Seasons downtown. It has a dedicated entrance on Church Street and you can also access it through the hotel. The service here has always been excellent -- our typical waiter's name is Abdullah and he's gone above and beyond every time to make sure we're happy. They also take halal diners seriously and make sure they do not serve any dishes or sauces with alcohol. Reservations are pretty easy to make online and you can always call to see if they have availability at a time that was showing fully booked. We've gotten the tomahawk every time we've come and it's 100% worth it. They slice it table-side once it's ready. During my most recent visit, Chef Wolfgang Puck was hanging out by the entrance and I just walked up to him and started talking about the space and his watch. We were seated maybe 10 minutes later and he sent out off-menu appetizers on the house, then came out to carve our tomahawk himself! Quite the treat. read more

CUT has been on my list of places to try for a while. I was in the area the other day and figured what the heck - let's go for lunch. We were greeted by the hostess and brought to a table by the window. Noted that the menu was rather limited, but that's fine as we were having lunch. My husband ordered the Heart of Gold cocktail (which was great), and I ordered a glass of champagne to start. My champagne was served as if it was white wine. Now usually I wouldn't think much of it, however a restaurant of this caliber should know how to serve champagne properly. The food - We both ordered the filet mignon, which was over-peppered and overcooked/dry. Also, the menu did not have sides to order with the steak. Our waitress suggested a simple side salad or fries. We went with truffle fries (those were good though). Very disappointed in CUT. The food and experience were both unremarkable and completely forgettable. I'm happy to pay for an expensive lunch (our bill was $200+), but this just is not the place to go. read more

A 3 hour culinary adventure, not by choice. Food was a 5, but the service is what dropped it down to a 3. I've been to the LA and Vegas locations so I was expecting similar level of service at a high end steak restaurant. It took over 1 hour for the main course to come. After asking multiple times why it was taking so long the excuse was always "you ordered medium plus, it takes longer". I've cooked steak, the difference in time is minutes. The waitress didn't come and ask if we need anything without us having to flag someone down. Requesting simple things like lemon, required asking 2-3 times. Just a disappointing experience with the staff and I couldn't figure out what the reason was. The food: amazing. I had the tuna tartare (amazing), mashed potatoes, Caesar salad, and eye of rib (probably one of the best steaks I've had) cooked medium plus. At first I thought it was under cooked because of the color, but from the first bite realized this was amazing. It's a shame the service was not up to par with the other locations. They usually come fold your napkin when you leave the table, and clear any crumbs off the table. I don't expect it at every restaurant, but this was typical of the other CUT locations. read more

Had a delightful late valentines dinner at cut, shoutout to our server who I think was named Simon, although I'm not great with names. Had the oysters, a filet and a ribeye, with prawns, mushrooms, potato puree, and mojito sorbet for dessert, all of which were delicious. I didn't catch the sommeliers name but he was great as well, refreshing our wine whenever we got low, and it was certainly nice not having to worry about keeping the bottle on the table. The cocktails we had to start were very balanced as well, some places add superfluous ingredients for the sake of it but everything in ours (the black pearl and the kings tonic) felt like integral inclusions that served a purpose. The ambiance was exactly what I would like from a steakhouse, a little dark and atmospheric. The only "error" we experienced is that we got a full twelve oysters instead of a half dozen, but who would complain about that? Great experience, and I'm sure we'll be back. read more

We came here on a freezing weekday evening. As soon as we walked into the restaurant, we were greeted by the refined, yet pleasantly subdued atmosphere. The decor was modern yet elegantly simple, with red curtains, velvet plush seating, and reasonable neon lighting. The restaurant was cold, especially being seated near the windows. The service was good but with some slight hurdles. It took a long time for staff to approach our table, the service seemed rushed and staff was rather disinterested in providing us with a positive dining experience. Pretty aloof and unrehearsed. We ordered the oysters (4/5) it was quite standard. The caesar salad (4.5/5) was great, it was seasoned well. The dry aged ribeye (4/5) was amazing. It was cooked to a perfect medium-rare, succulent and well seasoned. The sear on the steak was perfection, and the dry age process gave it a deeper, meaty flavor. The fries (3/5) were a tad bit dry. Brussel sprouts (3/5) needs more caramelization and seasoning. Toffee pudding (1/5) was disappointment on a plate, its presentation was lousy. The pudding was dry and the flavors don't work together. It was a decent dining experience, but it's more of a one time occasion. I would still recommend to try any other good steakhouse in the city, like Smith & Wollensky, Keens, or Peter Luger. Let me start by saying that this review does not reflect on the staff. They were very friendly, informative, and attentive. Everything you would want in service of a restaurant of this caliber. Otherwise, CUT is absolute bullshit. I am a fan of a good steak, especially a dry aged steak done correctly. I frequent El Gaucho in the Pacific Northwest, which does a fantastic job making a tender flavorful dry aged steak. CUT on the other hand misses the mark on every level. Flavorless, boring, and CHEWY. I had to send my steak back because it was closer to a rubber dog chew than an actual steak. It was inedible and looked and tasted like a $5 steak you'd buy off the clearance rack. The rest of our tables steaks were okay, but mediocre at best. Guess the kitchen at CUT has never heard of salt before. As a group that frequents steak establishments, we all agreed that the only way someone could confuse CUT's steaks for good is if they had never been outside of NYC or to a real steakhouse before. The stand out dish for the night was the lobster risotto. Maybe CUT should switch its business model to seafood. Also, there is a great wine selection. Otherwise, the cheese gougères were under baked and had a terrible aftertaste. The desserts, also very boring, included plain cheese cake with berry coulis and chocolate chip cookies that had the taste and texture of being grabbed right off the shelf at Walmart. Nothing to make the flavor pop. (See previous salt comment.) The desserts we received also looked nothing like the photos others have posted. This might seem harsh as a review, but that is the purpose of yelp, to inform others. At these prices we should have left CUT raving, feeling wowed overall by the food and experience. Instead, we are left talking about how overpriced and disappointing it is. Honestly, eating here felt like we were served $20 food off a buffet table, but were charge premium prices. There are so many amazing culinary establishments to eat and experience in NYC. My advice would be to not fall for the hype associated with Wolfgang Puck's name and go somewhere else. Service: 5/5 - Service is really good and polite; they offered cost checks, asked for if dinner was for a celebratory reason, allowed wine samples when contemplating ordering, etc. Nothing less than amazing. Food: 4/5 - The beef tartare appetizer was the highlight of the dinner. Inspired by yukhoe, it had soft and savory beef balanced with the crunchy Chicharron for a twist but still predominantly had Korean flavors. I had the dry-aged steak, and it was good. The sticky toffee dessert was also great with the varying textures and sweetness from the sponge and pecans, had a hot and cold play with the ice cream, definitely something to indulge upon after the big dinner. Price: 4/5 - It's a little bit in the pricier end especially for the steaks since I wish I had bit more funk from the dry aging. It compares to the ~$50 dollar steaks, which I think are really good, so it definitely leans towards the $60+. Total bill with app, main, and dessert was about $150 for 1 (Got the dry-aged sirloin). I hadn't seen my friend in a long time and this place was perfect ,great music and a really comfortable atmosphere. We had a lovely evening at CUT. The service was impeccable from start to finish, with good recommendations and the most attentive water refilling I've ever experienced at a restaurant. Delicious cocktails and wine pairing. We enjoyed all of the appetizers and sides we ordered. The wagyu, ribeye, and filet mignon were all excellent, and we got to view a steak selection raw at our table before making our choices. Everything was so tender that we didn't need steak knifes -- the filet mignon in particular cut like butter. They surprised us at the end with a lovely dessert for the occasion we were celebrating. I can say now that some of the best steak I have had has been at CUT. We first tried Cut in Las Vegas and while it was super expensive, I didn't regret paying a penny (I treated my honey). When we found ourselves in NYC recently, I had to treat him again at CUT. While the décor was markedly different, the experience was not. The waiter was excellent. Attentive, informative and gave just the right amount of guidance. If you like Manhattans, then you must try one with their specialty crafted blend. It was smooth and delicious. The tuna starter melted in your mouth and don't get me started on the pretzel bread. The filets like before were cooked to perfection and just melted in your mouth. We weren't crazy about the broccolini but they remedy that appropriately. The dessert was good. It was a deconstructed cheesecake but my mind was still on that filet and cocktail. Went here while visiting NYC for a few days. We had been to the CUT in Las Vegas, and it was an amazing experience. My wife tried the Manhatten, it was great. I had the Pinot. Both were great. The place has a dark / subdued ambiance. They have a great background music and this night they had a great 80ties set on. Great music! We started with the Tuna Sushimi dish. It was very tasty and a great way to start a meal. We had the filet mignon as the main thing. We had it with fries and broccoli. The filet was cooked to perfection. The fries were great. The broccoli was not a fantastic experience. We had the cheesecake for dessert and it was slow cooked so very creamy. Overall a fantastic diing experience. What can I say. Food was good. Service was great. The ambiance is amazing. Don't be surprised to run into a celebrity if you go. Got to sit next to Tom Jones, which was pretty cool. They said Leonardo DiCaprio comes in, and lots of singers. So that's nice. Expect to pay a pretty penny though. We got the burger. Tomahawk. Ribeye. Steak tartare. Salads. It was all delicious. I would give it 5 stars, but the wait time for each meal was long. I understand that there could be some time, but at least come and tell us the food is coming or something and see if we need anything while we are waiting. Took 20 minutes just to get our drinks. Would I come back here? Probably not. But it is worth to try once, that's for sure. Friends from out of town really wanted to come here and even though I would have suggested another steakhouse, I was happy to try this place since I've never been. Walking in, I could tell it's a nice space with a friendly, professional staff. We were promptly seated and our kind and skilled waiter greeted us. I was able to order a drink right away while the others were deciding. I was told twice that my drink was coming and at the second pass, my one friend ordered a drink and we ordered food. I finally got my drink and shortly thereafter, my friend got his. My old fashioned was very good, with barrel aged Buffalo Trace bourbon. It was also $22. We were served some delicious cheese popovers and then some bread which had sourdough, focaccia and pretzel bread. The mustards served with the pretzel bread was amazing. It seemed to take a long time for our food to arrive. We were seated at 8:00 pm my steak didn't arrive until 9:03. My friends had lamb and the pork chop, respectively. Not sure why everything took so long. The food didn't look impressive but I think that's just the styling decision on having a huge white plate with a lonely looking piece of meat on it. The table was not that big so it's just not practical to have giant, unnecessary plates. But I prefer function over style, so that's just a personal preference. The meats were uniformly fine. My rib eye was $66 and I'll be honest when I say I have had better rib eye at a lower price point. My dining companions enjoyed their chop and lamb entrees. The pee wee potatoes were really, really, really amazing. If I go back, I think I'll just sit at the bar and order those with a cocktail. The market greens were also tasty. I ordered another drink when I just received my steak and hadn't received it by the time I was almost finished. I stopped eating for a couple of minutes so I had a few bites left and finally my drink appeared. Note, my drink had been empty for over 20 minutes before I got my food but nobody came to check. I did get a "your drink is coming shortly" notification but truthfully, I'd rather you just brought me a drink in a timely manner rather than give me periodic updates saying "it's still not here!". We opted for dessert, which in retrospect, we could have skipped. One, because it also took forever, and two, the donuts were heavy and greasy. The chocolate souffle was good. My out of town friends didn't know that restaurants in New York hate splitting checks and act like it's the toughest thing ever (apparently restaurant people here haven't been to every single other restaurant in America where they frequently ask you how you want the check split up!) So of course it was an ordeal to get two checks and that added to the time we were there and then when the checks came, the donuts weren't on my bill. At that point I told my friend "I'll just give you the cash, I want to get out of here" but I guess someone heard and told the waiter so when he collected the two cards and brought them back, he'd added the donuts to my bill, which was nice. In sum, it was fine. My two drinks, steak and donuts with tip came to just over $160.00 Pricey but not obscene. The food was fine and I'd definitely come back for the pee wee potatoes but for steaks, I would not come back here. I think you can get better steaks at a (tiny bit) better price at place such as Quality Meats and you also won't have to wait so long for food and drinks. Service personnel are definitely top notch here and I don't blame them for kitchen delays. If you're on an expense account or if you want to tell someone you ate at a Wolfgang Puck restaurant, knock yourself out. You will enjoy it. read more

We ordered the filet mignon and added truffle to it. It was amazing, I have no complaints. The truffle fries were so good, crunchy just how I like it. The staff was over the top kind and attentive and was consistent in ensuring we felt like honored guests and they were delighted we joined their curated experience. And we were! The drinks we ordered had the cutest names - Show Me Love (which had Tito's vodka, St. Germain and lime Yumm) and Peace on Earth which was a rum drink that looked so fun and amazing. My friend said it tasted like vacation in a glass. I started with the butter lettuce salad, which had the presentation of a flower and so much flavor, I could have ordered it twice. For dinner I had a delicious mushroom pasta dish that was soooo good! The noodles were made fresh in-house and you could tell. So flavorful. We also got a side of broccoli rabe - amazing!! And Mac and cheese that tasted home made. Omg. My friend ate Dry ridged ribeye and loved every bite! We also had a bonus - Wolfgang Puck himself was there and greeted us with a warm handshake and a beautiful smile! Bonus!! Oh and the desserts were AH-mazing! The cheesecake was light as air and creamy with the bananas and freshly made caramel sauce. Even a tiny flower on top - every detail had love in it.
