This review addresses the CVS pharmacy and retail store experience nationwide. We used to have several choices for pharmacies across many cities, and the local, independent pharmacy was often the best choice. Today, however, finding a local pharmacy is difficult because so many have closed. Furthermore, the management at the remaining stores isn't like it used to be--familiar and friendly. Most of the major store pharmacies, such as Walgreens and Rite Aid, are being closed or absorbed by giants like CVS. CVS was usually my last choice because it was often expensive, complicated by their ridiculous coupon policies, and staffed with unfriendly associates. I've asked several people, and they agree with these criticisms. Now, we are left with essentially one option: an unfortunate oligopoly. Grossly incompetent, condescending, and inefficient are a few adjectives that come to mind. I would avoid doing business here or with any CVS for that matter as terrible customer service and poor management seem to be consistent from location to location. Customers seem to just hold their noses and suffer through the experience of doing business with the pharmacy and with the store in general because they can't find a suitable alternative. I for one will be trying to move my business to one of the few remaining neighborhood pharmacies because I simply can't tolerate the horrific experience of going into CVS any longer. read more

November 2024 | Wonderful customer service & great location! While in the area this weekend, stumbled upon CVS! I had been to the area several times and gone to the stores nearby, but it was the first time noticing CVS! Shades of Christmas: I was excited when walking around the store and saw different shades of Santa Claus, angels and other holiday items, it looks so festive inside! There were so many cute ornaments too!! Loved it, as I love the holidays! CVS is definitely ready for the holidays and the diversity in products made the visit even more exciting! Thank you, CVS, you truly make a difference!! Customer Service: The minute I stepped up to the self checkout, a woman came up right away and helped me get started, thanks again! Free parking as well in the huge parking lot, shared with other stores nearby! (Trader Joe's, Home Goods, Ross, Ulta...!) Pharmacy has a new phone system and you won't be able to get through anyone you must leave a voicemail and they don't return your call. If you try to bypass by calling the front of the store, they transfer to pharmacy and you still get placed on hold for over 20 minutes. I gave up and hung up. When you enter this store it smells like rotten cheese and the pharmacy staff seems to always be in a foul mood. read more

I switched to this CVS to fill my prescriptions because they have great customer service! One script has to be ordered each time and they get it ordered and prepared within a couple days! Other CVS pharmacies will deny my script all together and say they can't fill it?!?! This is THE best CVS pharmacy I have dealt with, I will continue to use them. read more

Just wanted to commend 2 of your employees who assisted me yesterday morning. Your Manager Heidi and Melvin! at your 8601 Sepulveda location. I was on my way to work and had stopped by 2 other CVS locations. One on Venice and Western, which was a disaster, like if a tornado ran through it. And the other on La Tijera, which was well put together but no sign of Halloween items out yet. 3rd times a charm and stopped by your 8601 location, both managers were setting up Halloween merch and the store was pleasantly faced. I asked if they have or would be carrying a specific Halloween plush and to my surprise Heidi said she had some. Melvin assisted with checking out. Totally incompetent. I placed a photo order and called them to ask if it was ready. They said yes, and when I showed up they said not only was it not ready the printer doesn't even have the ink to print what I ordered. They don't even have a timeline because they have to call a technician to replace the ink. Train your employees better read more

I have no idea what the problem is with this pharmacy. Just had the worst experience. I've been on the same medication for years every refill is for 90days for years. Today I sent my husband to pick up my prescription and he returned with 30days. I knew it was going to be a problem because if they make an error and you leave the store they refuse to refund and when they correct their error you have to pay again. I went immediately to fix there error, just as I thought. The woman (not very nice) immediately went into her speech, you left the store so we can't refund. You have to call tomorrow, REALLY. I LOST IT. The pharmacist on duty agreed to refund. Okay fine, so what about my refill. Now she call me over and start telling me some foolishness about my refill only had 30days left that's why they filled it that way. WHATTT???? That makes no sense my prescription is written to be filled in 90days increments how do you get leftovers of 30days? To top it off as I'm trying to understand all the foolishness she's telling me some nosey idiot decided to butt in and reprimand me. I SAW REDDD AND HE GOT AN EARFUL. Finally the Pharmacist did some research and found the CORRECT prescription AMAZING . Unfortunately I had to get out of character and deal with an enormous amount of stress to get one prescription filled. This was not the first time something like this happened. Most of the people working in the pharmacy are clueless and rude. I hate that my insurance sold us out and went with CVS IT has been a nightmare. This is a great pharmacy. Very respectful, polite, and they're great with privacy. Other pharmacies make you feel embarrassed or sometimes awkward when picking up medications. This one has no judgement from what I've seen and I can refill prescriptions over the phone and have it done same day. Privacy , no judgement, and efficiency is what I look for. 5/5 read more

Their store manager Heidi has one of the worse customer care service attitudes I ever came across with. I'm not sending ANY of my photo orders here EVER again! She was unable to refund/ discount when the previous supervisors had offered me a $5 dollar gift card and also a full refund. Aside from that, this manager had me call corporate for a refund or a re-order request. *If the photo machine is not printing correctly, why would I resend the order, she could have just given me my refund or say to maybe try resending the order to a different CVS. read more

The ratings tell you everything you need to know about this store. Placed an order for delivery that was canceled fairly quickly. Called to inquire as to who is responsible for preparing and/or canceling orders for delivery, and the dummy who answered the phone asked if I picked up the order myself. If I picked up the order myself, I would have specified PICKUP. Asked again, slightly rephrasing the question. He gave me yet another response that had nothing to do with the question. I asked a third time and he said 'CVS' fills the orders. I refuse to believe an adult, even a young one, can be this stupid. I won't give him the respect of calling him 'obtuse'. I asked for a supervisor in hopes of speaking to someone who could comprehend my request. He took offense and hung up the phone in my face. I called back and he answered again. I asked if he was the person who hung up the phone in my face. His response: "You had an attitude and I didn't like it." Who gives a damn about what he likes? Speaking to someone in a serious tone re: a serious matter doesn't constitute a person having an 'attitude,' but when you're uneducated, you have no concept of professionalism. I don't exist to appease the help. I asked the help who was supposed to be helping and the help couldn't help, so I asked for help from someone who was willing to help. Maybe he can comprehend that, since I stated it in laymen's terms. Long story short, this location clearly plucked their employees from the ghetto, placed them in a nice neighborhood and they think people who aren't from the streets are going to deal with street shenanigans. Absolutely not. Being professional, the matter was escalated to customer service and CVS's corporate office. "I'm making money, you're not." We'll see how long he will be in receipt of his minimum wage job when his employer realizes he is insubordinate and cannot effectively assist the customers who are purchasing items from this store. If I wasn't 'making money,' I couldn't place regular orders for delivery from MULTIPLE stores. In total, he hung up in my face THREE times. Consequences have actions. I come here often and its always some problem. I was already given the wrong meds twice. Then my pain meds; it's always a problem it seems. I can't wait to retire so I won't even depend on these prescriptions. I just hate wasting time and it's always something. They send some out saying your meds are ready or if it is a problem; just say. It may or may not be their fault but the system sucks. Technology suppose to make things efficient but it is just another way of wasting the customers time! They still could've called or said something. This is my local pharmacy/convenience store. I have been a regular customer for nearly 30 years. I typically avoid using the pharmacy due to long lines and ever changing staff which often means trouble. I had an emergency root canal procedure on Wednesday night and my doctor sent in 2 prescriptions; one for an antibiotic and one for pain medication. As I was my way, I received a text that my prescription was ready. The very nice Uber driver waited for me as I ran in. No long lines - only 1 person was ahead of me, so that was great. I was handed my prescription bag but the pain medication was not there. I asked about it, and the cashier went over to some other terminal to look it up and she shouted to me, "it's not covered so we didn't fill it." I shouted back to her, "I have been coming here for nearly 30 years and I've never had insurance coverage for prescriptions, I pay cash. What is the real reason?" She didn't answer me. She came back to me and told me that my prescription could be filled the next day, and they were closing in 5 minutes and there was nothing else she could do. I told her I could not come back the next day (I don't work nearby.). My name is misspelled in their system, which she said she could not or would not fix. She said the doctor had misspelled it, which is not true. I had to run out to the waiting Uber driver, but I tried one last time and asked this person, "WHY WASN'T MY PRESCRIPTION FILLED PER MY DOCTOR'S ORDERS?" and she gave me a blank look and said once again, "you can come back tomorrow." Luckily, I did not need that pain medication since ibuprofen is taking care of the minor amount of discomfort, but what if I HAD? What if I had to spend a night of agony because of some UNEXPLAINED problem with CVS? read more

Since the one pharmacist went out on maternity leave recently, this place has been the worst. Don't have surgery and let them send your pain meds prescription here! If they don't have it, and they frequently don't, they just cancel the prescription (and don't tell you). It is like they think they are personally going to end the opiod crisis or something. Then you have to just suffer if your doctor is out of the office. They don't care and are less than helpful. Have your medications sent somewhere else because this place is the absolute worst! read more

Large, clean, well stocked store and the staff is very friendly but my problem with this store is to enter this store from the parking lot you'll have claim a set of stairs and there is no ADA ramp to enter the store. read more

Wow manager here is rude and needs training or a non customer service related job. Nobody wants to hear you berating a customer about your process because you arent able to clearly communicate what info you need to process their request at 8:30 in the morning.Then we have to listen to you cursing and complaining to another employee afterward as customers try to shop. With the exception of Merli at the register I have never received even average service.Today I'm here for a flu shot. The pharmacist uses the filthy floor as a table instead of a cart. She was nice enough. Nice didn't last long I went back to Jessica at drop off to request a shingles shot. ZERO customer service skills. We will call you when it comes in. Ok how long will that be? Several months, we will call you when it's in. How much will it cost I ask? Depends on your insurance. Ok can you check that for me? Yes when you come into get the shot. I went to get some water proof bandage for my mom and I wanted to ask a cvs representative and she completely ignored me and continued walking. I thought she didn't hear me, but I went behind her and she went inside an employee only area. Her name is fedelina or something like that. When I went to pay she was on her phone. One of the worst CVS in the Southern California area. This store has constant long lines to check out - about 12+ people standing and waiting impatiently in line. They have 3 kiosks for self-checkout, however one is typically always broken and the other two don't work properly so the customers are oftentimes waiting for employees to come and assist. There are always people in the front of the store asking for money or handouts. I'm all about charity for formal organizations, but it gets tiring to be constantly asked for money. I feel unsafe shopping at this store. read more

Been coming to this location since, I dunno, 1992. They used to have a clearance aisle but sadly ever since the new manager took over it's gone. He also allows people to stand by the door outside asking customers for money WHICH I HATE. But there is plenty of parking which is a bonus. Just started going to this pharmacy after a serious injury and they just never receive my prescriptions. Forced me to follow up and wait for hours and even days longer for medicine I needed urgently. I thought it was the doctor's fault at first but then realized CVS was the common denominator since different doctors had sent the prescription and all had issues. I think they get overwhelmed and ignore prescriptions then blame it on the doctors office. They seemed very disheveled and confused each time I went in. read more

Went to pick up my parents meds and We were told they were ready via message. I come here at least one every 2 weeks so I am a regular customer and its only Jeanette that never takes the time to help but shoves you off to the next window. instead of trying to help she doesnt bother. As a semi-regular customer back in the '80s when this location operated under the Sav-on/Osco banner, I stopped going in when they repeatedly charged full price for various advertised sale items. Once again, the chain had a twofer sale on its store-brand supplement that's supposed to "help support and maintain joint function*", but pretty much doesn't, unless they're referring to some other kind of joint. *These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. Probably my bad, though, because the recommended dosage is "four (4) caplets per day, preferably with a meal," but I only have time to take two, and four meals a day are unlikely to be appreciated by my knee cartilage. On the bright side, this CVS has managed to find space for liquor in its crowded aisles and refrigerator-equipped walls, and on display for the holidays were gift packs of spirits; one highlight was $21.99 fifths of Ketel One vodka packaged with two weighted-bottom rocks glasses. My clerk contemporary was working solo at the counter with a complicated customer. A lady ahead of me opted for one of three self-checkouts, the other two broken. Just moved to this area and have dealt with this pharmacy maybe a handful of times and there has been a problem with every single order/communication - being contacted that my prescription was ready only to find it was not...picking up a prescription but given the wrong medication, requesting a particular prescription and being challenged by the tech who later realized I was right and today, waiting on hold only to be disconnected! It's almost laughable how this pharmacy can get every order wrong! read more

I have no issues with the pharmacy here. I've only had prescriptions filled a couple times, but both times the service was friendly, prompt and efficient. My main gripe about this place is the not-so-correctly functioning "express checkout" (self checkout) machines. They have three. Today one was apparently broken, and of the other two, only one had the light on, but they both appeared functional. I've tried on many visits to this store, but they're never able to scan the CVS Extra Care card from my phone (CVS app), and the phone number lookup always fails! So I get in the normal line... and wait... and wait... and finally scan my extra care card - and it works no problem! Ugh. Please fix the self-checkout! It's 2017 and I've got other shit to do! This is why people are buying everything from Amazon... read more

Pros: The ambiance is nice and I don't sweat a lot. Door greeters are very nice and treat me like Sultan. Large selection of candy and alcohol, with great deals so I can always stay stocked! Parking is convenient and I never get a ticket even when passing out at the wheel from clubbing too hard. Negatives: Homeless people always harassing me outside. I may look like a prince but that does not mean I am one. I believe in teaching a man to fish. Line is extremely long to pick up medication, and due to the hashish I always catch myself staring at the beautiful ladies for too long There is always a problem with my insurance, which I assume is racism because I am proud card carrying American insurance holder. Certain medication is always on manufacture backorder which prevents me from getting my funk on. read more

This CVS Pharmacy has never been able to get my prescriptions right or done in a timely manner. They always blame the Dr. and it's their fault. I have put up with it for 5 years and I had the last straw. Their lack of compassion is unacceptable and I will be moving on. It may be convenient but not worth the hassle . read more

I don't know why this location has such bad reviews. Yes, the line at the pharmacy can be quite the wait and yes, there's tons of beggars asking for money since it's so close to the bus stop. However, I think the service is usually pretty decent. Anticipating a wait whenever I've had to fill a prescription, I usually browsed around the store or dropped it off and came back later. Seems like the pharmacy is a bit understaffed at times, but considering that this is just a busy location--I'm going to cut them a break. read more

No complaints about this CVS. Whenever I go here, they have what I need. Service has been good here. Not a long wait to get out of here either. Parking situation is good too. They have a big lot that they share with other near-by businesses. A note about CVS's in general, if you have their club card and get their emails, you get a lot of emails with coupons. The best ones are the 25% off ones. I stock up when I get those in my inbox. read more
