I almost feel like I was hoodwinked by the other reviews I read. The service was fine but the FOOD.... I wish I had been less optimistic and walked away after the first plate. You know the sushi you get at the grocery store after it's been marked down 50% before it expires? It stinks of fishiness, leaks water and has such a grainy texture, you question if this is still sushi. That's exactly what this place's sushi is- and the lower price compared to the rest of the bay is still not worth it. Every nigiri piece had thinly sliced fish with two heaping spoonfuls of rice packed together- all the rolls were only saved because we picked ones drowned in sauce. I would suggest to save your money and go to a grocery store if you want a similar price point with greater value- or if you're willing to splurge, go somewhere else. And if you still want to give it a try, stop after the first round if you come across the same experience as me- just pay your losses and get out of there because it probably doesn't get better. read more

We were starving and this place hit the spot. As people mentioned parking can be tight but it was worth it. Instead of a buffet, they bring each person 3 items at a time. You just mark them on a menu. The chicken karaage was a bit bland, but everything else was perfection. The seaweed and cucumber salads were fresh and refreshing. My bf and I wanted to try Daiki because the AYCE sign was so enticing so we had to give it a try. We love sushi and if it's AYCE we're definitely trying it. We came on a weekday dinner and it was pretty empty. The restaurant seemed cozy and the chefs were nice. So we opted in for the ayce dinner ($36). Lunch is ~$24. So we're thinking okay dinner it probably has more items and we were stoked. We wanted to give the benefit of the doubt and try it despite reading some of the reviews. If you want sashimi, it's an additional $14 on top of the base ayce price. You can order as many times as you want per round. When I first saw the sashimi, the pieces were huge! I tried the salmon and at first it was okay but as I tried the other pieces, it didn't taste fresh to me. The mackerel piece was the one that got me, it tasted a bit rubbery. I ended up just munching on the rolls because the raw fish did not taste fresh to me. My bf isn't a picky eater but he had a hard time finishing. I notice that the quality isn't consistent. We ordered a few appetizers and these were better than the sushi, tbh. I just kept eating the chicken karaage. The service was okay they came to check when we needed to order only. I never want to give a bad reviews but honestly, for the price we wished the quality was better. If we're paying like $60 a person, the quality should be better. Came here with my sister because it's the only all you can eat sushi around us. On my second round, I ordered a Rock and Roll roll and it came with barely ANY filling. The rice to filling ratio was pretty much 5:1. So to make room for more sushi, I ate half the roll and ate the filling of the other half. So all that was left was the rice. I went to order a third round, and they denied me because I didn't eat ALL the rice. Like what's in the picture I posted. I'm super disappointed. It reminds me why I don't come here often. Never coming back here again. I'd rather pay $15 a roll somewhere else than pay $19.95 for ayce sushi here. Also, for 2 adults and baby and a 4yr old, they automatically charged us tip and said it's included. THIS IS NOT RIGHT. TIP IS A PRIVILEGE AND OPTIONAL. NOT MANDATORY! All their rolls had a lot of imitation crab meat and rice. For their fried rolls, I cannot tell if it was the fish or if they weren't suppose to fried that type of fish, but it tasted super fishy. Very friendly and attentive staff. Their menu offers a nice variety to please everyone's palette. All you can eat sushi makes for a great deal. Good food and comes out pretty fast which has been great for a quick lunch. Convenient location. The restaurant has been here for over 15 years, it is bright inside with lots of windows. I did the AYCES and they served me Massive sushi rolls filled with rice and imitation crab salad for every and any sushi roll I ordered. Please stop doing that to fill me up!!! My son ordered teriyaki chicken and he said "it tasted like old chicken". He didnt eat much of it. He also ordered an avocado roll and it was minature. So you serve me massive sushi rolls but give him a tiny avocado roll for $8??? For the AYCE I suggest serving half the roll you now serve for every order unless you have a big party and stop putting too much rice and imitation crab salad on everything! If I were to give a rating solely on the quality of sushi, I'd give 2 stars. Like what other reviewers have mentioned, you cannot expect to notch sushi from a AYCE (generally speaking). I give 3 stars because of the main purpose you would come here for, the fact that it's AYCE. It's the only one at this price point in the bay area that I know of. If you're having a craving for sushi, this is a way to satisfy those cravings while not breaking the bank. The rolls do bias toward more rice. I've been here for lunch a couple of times and I love the food! The fish is very fresh and the sushi is very tasty. The service is good and the waiter is very friendly. The main thing that prevents me from coming here more often is that the parking around the area is terrible. I don't think the restaurant has its own dedicated spots and the street is full of cars from the body shops. I usually have to park on 21st Ave. and walk over if I'm lucky. Enticed by the reasonable price for all-you-can-eat sushi, a friend and I decided to give it a try. Parking was a bit difficult; there are few spaces for parking. Upon entering, we were briefly greeted by the waitress and quickly seated. There, we got our AYCE menus where each person was allowed 3 items. The image below shows 5 of the items we got on the first round, plus a chicken karage not pictured. The first bite into my spicy tuna roll, I could tell the fish was not the freshest. The flavor was pretty good, but the fish was not dices thinly enough. The result was an unpleasant chunky texture. The nigiri looked off right off the bat. Sashimi slices on top seemed stiff and weirdly cut. The fish was stringy and not buttery at all. spicy Scallop roll was decent; wish they adjusted the spice flavor so it wasn't just a line of siracha in top of the roll. On top of the average food, the service was slow. We had to wait about 15-20 minutes between some rounds of food. Overall, pretty disappointed with the quality here, but what can you expect from such a cheap AYCE price? read more

Grossest sushi I have ever had. Elaborated: ordered (seafood udon - udon with seafood and vegetables) hmm? Maybe shrimp and scallops? Like I've had at many other sushi restaurants...? No. Instead, two large, disgusting brown clams and chunks of unidentifiable fish pieces. The clams were humorous as there was, what looked like, a long, retarded, monster clitoris hanging out of them. The smell of this bowl, however, was not so humorous. Was pretty traumatic, actually. I had the waitress, instead, bring me a Hawaii roll (salmon and avocado) and a side of miso soup. The soup, ironically, smelled exactly like the seafood udon. The roll's fish tasted old and expired. That was strike three. I spent $69 dollars here, after tipping $4 on a $65 tab which I had to ask the waitress to modify to exclude the bowl of ocean excrement. 100% worth. I went during a busy afternoon and was worried they might not be able to provide as much service to me. They only had one server, but he was incredible. It did take 30 minutes for my first 3 orders to arrive, but then again, the place was packed, and they only had one server that day. I can imagineon nom-busy days they must be even faster. The quality of the fish is high and you won't be disappointed. You can tell the sushi chef knows what he is doing. I left happy and full The location is room temperature and plenty of seats. It's definitely not a fancy dining experience, but it's great if you want to fill up on sushi casually with friends,by yourself or co-workers. Daiki sushi is one of the few places for AYCE affordable sushi in the bay. My boyfriend and I went on Sunday right as it opened and there were just a few parties ahead of us. We were able to be seated right away after we found parking on the street. There isn't too much parking available as it's right off El Camino but if you drive around the block you might get lucky enough to find some residential parking. Right away, we were greeted with 2 menus and expo markers. We were a little confused so we wrote each of our orders on each of the menus. You are allowed 3 items per round. The food came fairly quickly. The sushi rolls are pretty packed with rice and the fish isn't very fresh as compared to other sushi restaurants. Rolls are also poorly constructed as they break apart as soon as you pick them up. My boyfriend ordered a soda and after he was done, the waitress offered him a refill at half price because their special was BOGO half off. I was a little surprised since they advertised they had a soda fountain and in my experience, most places just offer unlimited refills for soda when it's not in a can? We just opted not to and just got water anyway. We had to ask for another menu since we didn't have anymore and she gave us 3 more. This time, we knew just to put our whole order on one menu and just use the new ones for new rounds. We didn't make it past 3 rounds and I left very full. Sushi - 1.5/stars Appetizers - 3/5 stars Service 2/5 stars I saw the AYCE sign on the drive home and figured we'd give it a try, especially for $18 AYCE lunch is amazing! But I regret not reading the reviews first.. sigh. The AYCE menu allows each person to order three items at a time. They had hot items and appetizers (gyoza, tempura, salad, edamame etc), rolls, nigiri and hand rolls. Like most other AYCE places, we thought we'd be able to order multiple nigiri per order, for example: 3 sake 3 hamachi 2 saba, one ikura. The chef gets our paper and I overhear him saying "THREE?!" in Chinese then laugh in a snarky way, then only bring out one of each.... ughhhh but I'm actually glad they only brought out one of each because I took one look at it and realized why they do that. The amount of rice to fish is RIDICULOUS. The amount of rice they use for one piece of nigiri was well enough for two pieces, not to mention the fish was so thinly sliced. Good sushi is essentially made of two things: rice and fish. It's not just the fish that matters, but the rice as well. Their rice tasted like old, dry reused rice with little to no rice vinegar (which gives sushi rice that distinct taste). If they gave too much rice that at least tasted good and was fluffy, I wouldn't be so mad. But the rice here was a travesty.. Sake (salmon) nigiri - 2/5 it was okay, didn't seem so fresh Hamachi (yellowtail) nigiri - 1/5 pale as hell and had a weird texture so we didn't order any more of that Ikura (salmon roe) nigiri - 1/5 It was the saltiest I've ever had anywhere and also SO little compared to how much rice it was on top of. Saba (mackerel) nigiri - 5/5 The saba was good! Taste like saba from anywhere else, it was tender and not too chewy. Hamachi avocado roll - 1/5 Sooooo bland.. didn't even taste like hamachi Spider roll - 2/5 It was almost indistinguishable because there was so little soft shell crab and a shit ton of crab meat that was dry and didn't help the taste at all Sunset roll - 3/5 (salmon on top of CA roll) decent but not that great. 3 is being really generous, and only cause everything else was so bad. Crab meat is dry and bland here Spicy tuna handroll - 1/5 My friend said he would probably give this a 0/5. The spicy tuna was so dry... it seemed like the fish didn't have enough sesame oil or flavor at all. Tempura handroll - 2.5/5 It was okay but I got sick of it quickly since there was so much dry crab meat in it paired with a small shrimp tempura (on top of the 10x amount of rice) The gyoza and house salad were good but how can you really mess that up lol. Shrimp tempura (3 pieces) - 5/5 This was probably our favorite thing from the meal. It was battered really well, nice and crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside! The pieces were also a bit smaller than your regular tempura so it's better when you're trying to fill up on sushi. Overall, we will definitely NOT come back here again, and I would advise you not to. Yes, the low price for AYCE seems attractive but trust me, do NOT waste your $18, you're paying to fill up on old, dry rice with a very small side of bland fish. read more

Oddly enough, this place has really good sushi. There's times when they offer AYCE sushi, but I'm not 100% sure the times they offer that. The AYCE Sushi, I believe is $26 a person and you can order off the menu - so they make it as your order. Which works wonders for me as, hooray for fresh sushi. Portions are great, but if you don't finish, they'll definitely give you side eye looks. Make sure to pace yourself. Don't go ham and order 100 different sushi's, LOL! However - I'd still stay away from the Bento Boxes and anything of cooked meat. read more
