Not a lot to say that hasn't been said. They have the "good" crushed/slushy ice for sodas, which I love. Cheeseburgers weren't too greasy, great buns. 2 people got burgers fries and drinks for $20 after tip and tax. Not as cheap as maybe you'd expect, but it's better than any chain fast food, except maybe in n out. Tater tots and onion rings are a nice alternative to fries. Didn't have the root beer, but I don't like root beer. No free refills on any sodas. read more

I am in love with the Dariy-Ette. As soon as you pull into the parking lot on "classic car night" you know you're in for a treat. Once inside, you forget hat millennium you're in. It feels as close to a 1950's diner as I've ever felt. While the food may be just greasy old burgers and fries (not complaining in the least bit) the DRINKS are where the Dairy-Ette will win your heart. #1 Burger in Dallas. This is everything a burger place should be. It is like going back in time to the 50's. I love sitting at the counter and watching them make root beer floats, shakes and ice cream cones. My favorite over the top order is the Double Bacon Cheeseburger, Fries, Chocolate Shake. I have only been to this restaurant twice. My first visit went well six months ago. My second visit occurred on July 12, 2014. I order 3 single hamburgers plain and dry, one double meat burger and 3 onions rings and four fries. I received one double meat done correctly and two half orders of fries. The three single meat, were loaded with all the fixing. I stressed the importance of the plain and dry since two family member have allergic reaction to them. The onion rings and two orders of French fries were dropped on the floor pick up and served to me by the waitress. When I refused the dropped items they were not replaced. The three messed up burgers were not replaced either. I was told that these items wouldn't be re done or refunded. Then the waitress left our table. When I spoke with the manger she said she would make it right and to get back with her at 5:00pm. So I did, the owner Robert Gene Prinkyl intervene and he must have confused me with another customer and hung up on me, when I tried to allow them to make this right. He said I was a regular their. He really does not know his customers since this was only my second time to ever go here. I gave this company one star because it was the lowest rating yelp would allow. I think $39.13 for one burger and two half orders of fries is outrageous. This restaurant makes you pay first then they make the food. They do this because if they mess up your order they won't fix it. Not to mention the added ingredients you get when it hits the floor. Overall poor management, bad service, fraudulent transactions get added to you card. I actually was change two times for the same order. I am disputing the overcharge with the BBB and my bank. Word of advice avoid them. They're better hamburger places in Dallas, Texas. read more

I've been coming to Dairy Ette for 60 years. That's right, 60 years. Just a kid then and on payday Dad would get us their burgers on Friday night. Nothing ever changed thru the years, always a dependable burger and frosty mug root beer or anything else you want in a frosty mug. Definitely an old time place including carhops and the food and service has remained consistent all these years. Nobody knows their secret to the perfect burger and fries. 4.5 stars out of 5. Like I said it is RARE that I give a 5. This place was SOOO close to getting a 5 but the fact that they don't accept cash is a pain in the ass. It wouldn't be bad if there was an ATM inside or even an ATM in the same lot but you have to literally walk across a busy street just to hit the ATM and pay to get it. It's just a 7-11 there. There are no banks in the area. If you go BRING CASHHH! Now on to the food! The food here is AWESOME. It honestly tastes like a homemade/down home Whataburger but BETTER. The burgers at least. The mustard is the secret. Super tangy and perfect on anything you get. The corndog is homemade and crispy all the way around and the chili dogs are AMMMMAZING. I highly suggest getting 1 of everything and split it with your friend/date/significant other. The fries an onion rings are on point as well. You MUST and I repeat MUST try a root beer here. They are served in glass, heavy duty mugs and it is made in house as well. Drink refills are not free which is also why I rounded down. The decor really ties the experience all together as well. They have drive up service as well as inside dining. Turn on your headlights to signal the carhop. The inside is AMAZING and very vintage. Stainless steal with wood paneling. Everyone always goes on about the burgers. (Which are excellent by the way!!) But they also have an excellent shrimp basket. The fried shrimp is absolutely wonderful. My mom would always get the shrimp when we would stop by for a bite. When I could pull myself away from the burger I would order shrimp as well. I have been coming here since probably 1962 as an infant. My granny was friends with the owners. I would spend time there every summer growing up since I lived in Houston. Now 50 years later, I will have to stop here when I am in Dallas. The food is not fancy, but it truly is tasty. And the owners are wonderful. Last time I was in Dallas, they told me stories about my granny and my mom!! Even after all those years. If you live there, it has to be worth it.
