I have been coming to Damburger since I was a child -- probably about 20 years -- and I have to say, I can never get enough of it! Damburger is an institution in Redding, CA. It dates back to 1938 and has been serving up the best burgers since Shasta Dam began its construction, hence the name. The inside probably hasn't changed in just about as long, and has a comforting old school burger joint/diner kind of vibe. My favorite place to sit is right at the counter where you can see all the action and chat with the owners who are often around. In my opinion its simple yet addictive thin patty burgers rival even In N Out. I always get a single dam with "The Works" and it never disappoints. Flavorful, crispy, quality, iconic. Damburger is one of the most consistent restaurants around, and personally I love that the menu never really changes. I pair the single dam with some fries, sriracha sauce, and if I'm really feeling crazy -- a malted vanilla milkshake, which is my dad's favorite. Even though I don't live in Redding, I make it a point to come to Dambuger at least once, but usually twice, in every trip. If you're visiting, this is a MUST go, can't skip restaurant. And if you're a local and you haven't been yet... well what are you waiting for???

I visited here on 6/3/25, the burgers are great and the prices weren't bad either. The fries are great and the service is friendly. I'd definitely recommend. They were busy too so you know it's good!

This is what delicious looks like. Hamburgers come out of the kitchen so hot you can warm your hands on them.

Sometimes, a double dam with bacon is just what you need. The made-to-order burgers come out of the kitchen so fast they warm your hands even before the first bite!

You gotta love this place- The service is excellent, never had a bad meal, and it fits the bill for a great hamburger place or hotdog. Counter top dining or you can go out to the patio. Fries and shakes are exceptional. The staff keeps this place spic and span

What a find in downtown Redding! We were looking for Summer Nights at the Park which wasn't open so this place struck us as a fitting replacement. It reminds me of the hamburger spots from my youth and the location is outstanding right near some hot spots. Entering I noticed it was full, the customers were all smiling and the atmosphere was welcoming. We were greeted promptly and our questions answered. We both chose the double Hot Dams and I highly recommend it. The burgers were perfectly cooked, cheese fresh and condiments well matched. We got out for twenty bucks for two doubles with fries, matching up to where we are from we could have purchased a single with bacon for the same. I highly recommended this place to everyone who is hungry... it's the perfect spot.

The soda fountain and old fashioned menu.

We love this place. It was our first time here, we were just traveling through. It is such a cute place, it reminds me of old burger places back in the day (80's). The burger wasn't greasy, it had a great flavour, even the original (1/6 lb) was plenty for me. My husband ordered the double and that was enough meat for him. The four of us loved the French fries so much, we got another order to share. The service was fast. We only sat at a table for about 2 minutes and someone came by to take our order. Then about a minute later, another person asked us if we would like to order. They are friendly here and the place is very clean. We enjoy a burger night a few times a month during warm weather. This is a place we will return to any time we are in the area! Give it a try, it's like being transported back in time minus the old arcade games.

I always like to find mom an pop burger places rather than the big chains, tho I still love In N Out! Damburger is a place to stop if you're in Redding often like I am. Service is friendly and the food comes out without a long wait. Outdoor dining is available if the weather is nice. I was here with a friend and we both got burgers and shared a order of fries. The food was hot and tasty. Sure, there's a lot of burger places around , but Damburger is one of the better ones. The prices aren't rock bottom, but the food isn't either. Check this place out.

I got a Casper Dog with everything on it and a potato salad. When you state homemade for 42 years, there's no way I'm not trying it! This is where my review is going to differ from the majority that I see here and maybe I just have different tastes !!?? but I wasn't happy with the food at all. The hotdog itself had a weird consistency and the casing was strange, making a squeaky sound against my teeth when I bit down. The toppings were fine, but it was really messy and kind of offputting to have a ton of cold toppings with a lukewarm hotdog. Costco hotdogs are better in my opinion. The potato salad was OK. I can see see how people would love it and it's got a good spice to it; however, it wasn't my thing and actually left my tummy feeling a little yucky after eating everything. Great concept, but I don't think I'll be back .

I'd like to think that's me, but Aristotle was probably closer to describing my kind of bravery: Moral excellence is a habit......we become brave by doing brave acts. Ari, true dat, because I've practiced eating the street food, and it's made me brave. In a prior Yelp, I praised the street-food vendors in Portland for producing the best fast food I've ever tasted, hands down. Plop me down in Vientiane, Laos (please), and first thing I'm doing is checking out some street food, Bourdain-style. Busy day, I was at the Post Office and hadn't yet had lunch at 2:00. I was on my way from the P.O. to Mike's Barber Shop. I was starving. I saw the hot dog stand sitting in front of the Post Office..... Soggy bun. Ancient steamed Polish dog that the proprietor nuked back to just above ambient temperature. Available condiments: yellow mustard and catsup dispensers, and little packets of mayo -- that's it. The mustard dispenser was empty after one pump. Odd taste to the Polish dog. I felt sick for the next six hours. Not food poisoning, but just that queazy feeling where your stomach is saying, "WTF? :::urp::: WTFF?" Two comps come to mind, one familiar to many readers, and one perhaps less familiar: (1) Costco serves up a better Polish Dog with a better selection of condiments. Hot Diggity Dog comes nowhere near meeting this modest standard. (2) Fast Weenies is little more than an immobile hot dog cart where you can get spicy mustard, onions, sauerkraut, jalapeños, and home-made sun tea. Fast Weenies leaves Hot Diggity Dog choking in it's dust, and it's not even on wheels. I don't feel like being nice, because the owner of this fart-cart isn't even trying. Run away.

BEST BURGER IN REDDING... MAYBE THE BEST BURGER EVER…read more Whenever I am in Redding, I make it a point to stop here at least once for a burger. The burgers, the demographic who eats here, the wall decor, and the mild to moderate disrespect and attitude from Dick hasn't changed a bit... and I wouldn't have it any other way. He is a small breath of fresh air when it comes to community and giving back to small business. He gets his meat fresh every single morning... literally fresh, NEVER frozen. He patties and cooks it right there in front of you over an open flame. The burger comes plain with cheese, which you will need to take back to the "Sandwich Bar" where you will put on all of your sauces and condiments. Why is it called the ugly burger? Because the guy cooking the burger is damn ugly! And also the burger is shaped awkwardly long, but fits perfectly in the hoagie bun. It's one of the most fresh burgers I have ever eaten. And each burger is cooked with love. If anyone gave this place less than a 4 star, you don't deserve to leave reviews on Yelp!

Ken Flynn Redding, CA…read moreMay 31, 2026 Red Robin Gourmet Burgers and Brews Redding Location (1035 Dana Dr) Redding, CA 96003 To Red Robin Management, I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the unethical and misleading nature of your "Big Yummm" $9.99 Burger Deal after visiting your Redding location with my wife last night. While your advertisements heavily promote a complete meal for $9.99, my experience revealed a pricing structure that feels designed to deceive customers. The most egregious issue occurred when we attempted to settle our bill. My wife and I visited specifically for the "Big Yummm Burger Deal". However, our server informed us that because we chose not to order fountain drinks, we were ineligible for the discounted price. As a result, we were forced to pay an additional $5 simply for opting out of a beverage we did not want. This practice is inherently predatory; penalizing a customer with a higher bill for ordering less is the opposite of a "deal." Furthermore, the overall presentation of this promotion is riddled with confusing exclusions: Restrictive Selection: Despite using broad terms like "Gourmet Burgers" in advertising, the deal is strictly limited to specific options like the Red's Double or Haystack Double. Contradictory Menu Pricing: At the Redding location, the Haystack Double is listed under "Tavern Burgers" for $12.99, yet it is simultaneously advertised as part of the $9.99 "Big Yummm" deal, creating significant confusion at the point of order. Hidden Mandatory Components: Your promotional materials state the deal "includes" a bottomless beverage. There is no clear indication that this beverage is a mandatory purchase required to unlock the lower price for the food itself. Forced Mention Requirement: The fine print requires customers to explicitly "mention" the deal to receive the rate, rather than it being applied automatically to qualifying items. This "bait and switch" approach to pricing is frustrating. Many customers, including ourselves, were under the impression we were coming in for a straightforward $9.99 value meal, only to find a maze of "upcharge" traps and penalties for not ordering specific items. For a brand that prides itself on being family-friendly, this lack of transparency is deeply disappointing. I expect a much clearer presentation of your deals that does not rely on obscure loopholes to avoid honoring the advertised price. Sincerely, Ken Flynn
