Was definitely looking forward to visiting this hyped up rooftop restaurant. Unfortunately was very disappointed, but the ambiance and workers were great. The food however was not up to par, while pricey the chicken sliders had no flavor and the chicken was chewy to the point in which it couldn't be eaten or disassembled in parts, we believed it was fake chicken. The fries had little to no flavor definitely ruined the appetite for the whole night. But the photo booth was great, had some technical difficulties with payment and it not working but the number below for customer service was quick and efficient, definitely recommended using that to capture the night. read more

Dude! Luke and Rach are the best dynamic duo EVER! We were here for a conference and they were not expecting such a large crowd, but they handled it with ease and humor... they were the best! My mom and I wound up checking out the Darling Aviary on a Sunday afternoon before going to an art exhibit in West Sac. We wanted to grab a drink nearby with a good vibe and easy parking and we found a gem! When we first walked in, there was no one inside, we didn't realize we needed to go up. It was like a little mystery... then once we got upstairs we sat at the bar and enjoyed the great music and wonderful service, weather and views. I didnr get the bartenders name but she had dark hair and was so nice and friendly! We enjoyed everything about The Darling Aviary and have never been to a rooftop bar in Sacramento. Just this past summer we were in San Miguel de Allende in Mexico and the rooftop restaurants and bars are all over the city. It gave us great memories! Hoping to come back for brunch!! read more

First timers at this spot! Came by on Halloween weekend and were very impressed by the fun atmosphere and good music. Unfortunately, our night took a turn when Maricela accused us of not paying for our drinks. Not only did she take our order (and forget what we ordered and had to ask us again), she handed us the payment device where we paid and handed it back to her. Her attitude was uncalled for and unprofessional, especially when we knew we had already paid. It was almost hard to believe she couldn't remember handing us the device. Not sure what was going on for her. We later pulled up the transaction on our bank statement as proof where other staff members, like Felipe, where kind enough to address the issue. Overall, seems like a cool place as long as this doesn't happen again lol. Might check it out again when we're in the area. read more

We went here tonight and the lady by the elevator who works there was extremely rude!! She was very disrespectful. She had crusty twists in and dollar tree glasses. She kept yelling at us to not be on the wall and shout at us when she didn't have to do any of that. We were not pushy or saying anything. All she had to do was tell us nicely we would've done it. Instead we got treated like trash. We only went here because the best bar TIGER bar was full. They definitely need to get rid of her or they will continue to loose business. You don't treat customers who PAY to get in that way. It's one thing if we were being disrespectful and doing too much then I get it. But we never approached her side ways. She was shouting at us and being VERY disrespectful....Bartenders were very friendly. She could learn some class from them. Bartenders were awesome customer service! read more

I've moved out of Sacramento but every time I come back to visit, you bet I'll be here! Their new cocktail menu is outstanding. I mean it's always been, but I would have to say the cocktails are now in a league of their own. So much depth and so well balanced!Brunch is spectacular. Beautiful presentation and even more beautiful to the tastebuds. And the cherry on top is their music and staff-- just so fun, so sweet, and all around great time. Stumbled on the Gem while walking downtown. I'm from the Bay so we love a little cute rooftop vibe. There was a$5 cover to get in which isn't bad for a Saturday. Walked in and went up the elevator to the rooftop. That's why we were there. Rooftop was soooo cute and ascetically appeasing. Bartender had the drinks strong and got them quickly we love that. DJ was just okay but the crowed loved it as everyone was dancing upstairs. We enjoyed our drink and just caught the views and people watched. 10/10 Highly recommend. Will def be back. read more

Sunday, 7/30/2023 - Went to Darling Aviary for dinner with beautiful friends to celebrate one very special friend's birthday. It was all of our 1st time there. Address is 712 K St, Sacramento, CA 95814, Downtown. 1st floor is a bar. It didn't look open. Could have been, but I didn't pay attention. But they do check lD. The hostess was very nice. Second floor has a bar, music, and lots of tables to eat. If you are facing the bar on the 2nd floor, the bathroom would be to your right. I took the elevator to the 2nd floor. Upon arrival: Pros 1) great little restaurant/bar. There is a DJ and great music. 2) good food. Good drinks. Water tasted good. No funky taste. They provided plenty of ice water for us. See food pictures! 3) there's a mist and fans outside. Kept us cool this hot day. 4) we were allow to bring our own cake to celebrate our friend's bday. We didn't have a lighter to light the candles. The nice man in the wheelchair provided us his lighter. So sweet! Our waiter even got us small plates and silverwares so we can cut our cake. 5) we all had a great time eating, dancing, singing, and celebrating here. 6) service was great! No issue. Cons 1) it can get pretty busy. All the tables were full. It can get a little crowded and tight squeezing thru to walk around. 2) it's a little hard to find parking. So if you go when the club starts, good luck in finding parking. I went at 1 pm-ish and it was already hard. Street parking. Conclusion We all loved this spot. Great music, great service, clean, nice staffs, fun restaurant. I'd go here again. Love it! We had no issue. We had a great time dancing away and drinking away. Came here for bachelorette night out and had a great time. The line was long but we didn't stay in it for too too long. The cover charge was $10 per person but I got in for free since I'm a bride. We immediately went to the back to get on the waitlist and they send you a text when you can go up. While we waited, the line for the bathroom was very long. Then we sat at a booth near the bar and looked at all the pretty decorations. You take an elevator to the rooftop and once up there, it was packed. We were able to easily get to the bar though and had a bartender help us right away. I got a hibiscus lemon drop and it was amazing. I could've drank those all night! Once we had our drinks, we sat at the tables and there was a DJ and heat lamps which was so nice. The view was pretty. The music selection was good. The people around us were also nice. A Nice Chill Social Mecca SITREP Came here with friends to pregame some drinks: we had 90 minutes to kill before our group headed to DOCO Century to see the Fathom Events-release of CASABLANCA. THE SETUP Darling Aviary (aka "The Aviary") is a wonderful rooftop spot, open air, to grab a drink, look at the Sacramento skyline, and take some tasty sips while conversing with your friends..... or ANOTHER table as well! [Fun place to meet new peeps and grab them for the movie!] But that's getting ahead of myself. The Aviary has a rather swanky speakeasy style bar on the ground level (which was not open yet). We walked through it to catch the elevator at the end of the main bar room to get to the 2nd floor. The main floor has a beautiful aquamarine vibe to it and substantially more space, chairs, bar-counter, etc. then the open-air level above. [Made a note that I need to come back just to enjoy the speakeasy next time.] COCKTAILS & BREWS You would be hard pressed to not find a beverage that would enjoy here. I'm pretty old fashioned so that's where I went with my beverage choice: an Old Fashioned (Ha!). But that was actually my 2ND choice, the one I chose when my friend Kevin was paying for the 2nd round. I paid for the first round and I ordered a wonderful pink foo-foo cocktail that I can't for the life of me remember the name of, but look at my pics and perhaps you can triangulate a name to match the cocktail. I went here for my first time on Tuesday for a Sip and Paint Night. What can I say- it was quite darling and had an aviary theme aesthetic - complete with a bird cage that you could dance in! The service at the bar downstairs was lacking a little bit, but I imagine they were just a little overwhelmed with the group size. I asked for a purple themed drink in honor of the Kings, but they said they only had it upstairs for the special event...which was fine bc I was gonna be heading up there anyway. The food dishes we got were good and I was so hungry it hit the spot. I loveeeeed the rooftop patio area. It's a perfect spot to see the sunset and the beam!!! I was a little disappointed that The beam drink wasn't actually purple - they just needed to add maybe a drop of grenadine and that would have done the trick, but it was yummy and a nice blue color and the edible purple glitter was a nice touch. I am not sure if they will be offering the drink all the time or if it was just for the event, but I did try a flocking Mule as well which was delicious. I would definitely come back here! read more

On a girl's night out, we started our evening at Darling Aviary. We happen to be there towards the end of happy hour so we got to enjoy some of their bites and beverages at a discounted rate. My friend and I decided to split an order of fries and roasted brussels sprouts. I loved that they were curly fries since the shape just makes them all the much tastier. For my happy hour beverage, I decided to try their cucumber mint Moscow mule - it was light and refreshing. The service was friendly albeit a little slow since they were busy. The thing I was most surprised about was the automatic 20% gratuity that was added to our tab which is the default for any tab over $100. I consider myself a generous tipper, but I felt that this policy was taking advantage of that. The prices are already a little steep, even with happy hour deals, so it left a bitter taste in my mouth. The rooftop was enjoyable and allowed us to appreciate the cool Sacramento evening. I went to Darling Aviary specifically for a day party on a Sunday and it was at the roof top. Located off K street right next to the Golden 1 arena. A perfect spot to grab a drink or hang out, I think they have brunch and def a full bar both upstairs/rooftop and downstairs. The bartenders were so friendly and personable. When I ordered my drinks downstairs, the bartenders were so efficient and even told me their names (forgive me because I can't remember now). There are elevators for the rooftop and it was a pretty lit party. Time went by so quickly and I can say that security was good and they definitely controlled and made sure they counted for capacity and I appreciate that. We also ordered curly fries which were Amazing from drinking. Their espresso martinis were also great. There's some street parking and parking garages nearby. read more

Came for a friends bachelorette and it was so cute. There was a $10 cover. The theme is very cute I loved all the birds. Was totally on point because my friend and her fiancé are obsessed with geese so it was fun trying to find a goose within the decor. Had to wait to go up to the rooftop but it was fine because we were able to hangout and wait for a text that is was ready to go up. The staff was friendly.
