a bowl of soup and a bowl of rice

Value for the dollar is especially great to find. That's what offered here at this all around classic Chinese BBQ. We ordered their 3 item special, served with bbq pork, fried marinated tofu and lap cheong with veggies. The combo included a bowl of imitation sharks fin soup. All inclusive for $12.50. Most bbq rice combo plates are $12.50 - $14 with very generous portions. Local business. Cash Only.

Food is good! Green onion ginger oil is $1 unless you are frequent customer like the lady in front of us. We bought the 2 items BBQ lunchbox, one lb of BBQ pork, and one chicken leg. They are all good and will recommend.

My sister and I were waiting for HK bbq to open and once it opened, we decided to go there but it was closed because the bbq meats there were sold out )): We then decided to look for somewhere else and we found this hidden gem at Yaohan Centre. I ordered the 3 meat bbq combo with cha siu, soya chicken, and bbq duck for $12 to share with my sister. The flavors from their bbq were definitely dominant and smoky in a good way. It complimented the rice and the cabbage perfectly with the sauce from their meats and it definitely kept us full.

Most expensive BBQ on earth. It tastes like garbage

There is no point in coming to this food court now that the Korean place closed next door. What a shame Oh and Datang BBQ express is terrible in every which way. Do not visit

This was the worst duck I've ever eaten. Tastes really bad. The BBQ meat is dry/thin and the duck is full of sharp bones to gnaw on. They serve 20% meat and 80% rice drizzled in watered down soy sauce. I'd give 0 stars if I could.

Datang is located in the food court of Yaohan Centre, re-opened under new owners couple months ago. I tried out their lunch today and it is awesome. Friendly service, reasonably priced and their BBQs are delicious. I think I'd be a regular from now on.

I was never a big fan of Chinese BBQ until I went to this place. I've always thought Chinese BBQ is a bit boring except for Peking Duck. This place change all that. Despite the upside down duck, the chicken and the pig, I was mesmerized and curious about what these meat tasted like in my belly. I guess I was just hungry but I went in all the way. Service- employees were really nice but they gave too much rice. If you dare not to be fat, request that they only give you half of rice. There are lots of meaty combo. We opted for the pork bbq and duck. I added marinated duck egg for the win! The verdict: At $10 Canadian, I had one of the most memorable meal in Richmond! The pork belly was a total knock out! The skin was crispy, the pork was succulent and flavorful. The duck was the runner up. It was also delicious. The marinated duck egg is pretty much a boiled egg, shell was cracked and soaked on soy sauce concoction. Surprisingly, the bok choy didn't choke me. If you're Asian, you must have had a beef with the Choy's particularly with Bok. You order all of these with the sauce and savor it at the food court.

Yummy BBQ Meats! Datang BBQ Express is located in Yaohan Centre. One would not expect great BBQ to come out of a vendor in a food court, but Datang has definitely defied that notion! I'm quite familiar with the BBQ shops in Richmond, and I have to say, Datang is definitely up to par! It's pretty impressive considering that it's located in food court. I ordered the BBQ duck and the marinated pork ribs and the portion size was just right! Both were delicious! The BBQ duck was tender, and the skin was flavourful and juicy. The pork ribs had been marinated very well, and had a deep, smokey flavour. The rice was long grain rice, which is my favourite! If you ask, they'll also drizzle some of the delicious sweet BBQ sauce on your rice! I'll definitely be back!

She wanted to go to Kirin. Plenty of parking in the mall. Hostess greeted and seated us promptly. Restaurant was busy but not crazy. This was at 10am on a Thursday. Waiters were attentive. Usual table service was in place. Took our order and food came out at acceptable pace. When we were done, they politely boxed up the leftovers and we paid our bill. So service was on point. The food we ordered came out hot. The staples that I order to test was hargow, suimai and pai gwut(spareribs). All 3 dishes in general were good.....the hargow could have used an extra minute or 2 in the steamer. The suimai was very good. I tasted every ingredient in this dish. Usually it is just a complete mix and you can't discern the different flavors. They tried something different with the cheongfun by adding pieces of Chinese donut to the roll. I personally think it didn't add much to the dish, taste or texture wise. I did like the pea shoots with shrimp. I think it is a good combo. All in all a good dimsum. I also noticed they did not charge us a tea service. The cost of the food is comparable with other restaurants at this level. Hei Hei Rice Roll is legit good, totally recommend, even my daughter too, I thought of her ( since she LOVES rice roll and couldn't make it on this trip with me) while enjoying these roll but when I shared with her the photos and mention that we will go back here with her- she already visited. She said it was so good! Hei Hei Rice Roll is located at the Richmond Public Market, oh wow - this place is really popular, on the 2nd visit I was the first in line then the line wasn't so long but while waiting for our order, the line got super long. I was lucky I didn't wait long in line. Best to arrive early. I am not sure what the secret to the rice roll but Wow, it's so thin, silky, smooth texture with the toppings, so great together. The last 2 times we had rice roll with my daughter at Portland and Seattle- followed per Instagram reels- those did not even compare to these rolls. My first visit I got the combo which is the best deals, starts at $15.50 but depends on what you select for the selection for rice rolls and congee. I got the pork & preserved egg congee, shrimp, mushroom, pork rice roll. The 2nd visit I got the combo again, with liver & preserved egg congee, scallop and shrimp rice rolls, but I got my order wrong for the roll- they missed the shrimp. fyi-I found out that bean sprout, corn, toppings are free! Both combo came out to $17. super cheap! Cash only, they take USD but its the same dollar $ value. I wish they take credit cards, hehe. & the Verdict: Yummy, the congee hits the spot for comfort food, loved how it is cooked and they add peanuts too. Love the packet of sauce for the rice rolls, the umami-ness, so good. Best to eat it hot and fresh! Don't forget to ask for chili sauce, to add that extra spicy kick! For now, I am not sure I'll ever find a spot that is closest to Hei Hei for my congee and rice roll fix until I get to visit Richmond, BC again.

What we ordered: Limited Gigantic snow crab 3lb with salted egg yolk sauce - highly recommended by staff Seafood fried rice Baked large beach oyster with four unique flavors. Rice cake was chewy, soft and paired with sauce so well and so addictive. Seafood fried rice was also great! Clam was so juicy and delicious! prawn was nicely firm and very good. Ingredients were outstanding. And Baked beach oyster was also great item. Oyster paired with each unique different flavor(Forgot to ask what kinds of each flavor..), Oyster itself was very large and creamy. Highly recommend this item, too. We made a reservation on OpenTable (which is a rare platform to use among Chinese restaurants in Greater Vancouver). We were seated a few minutes after arrival. The space feels energetic. It's a more modern restaurant, so there is much color and younger vibrancy than a traditional Chinese restaurant. What else is different? No round tables - only smaller square tables - which means it's better designed for small groups rather than large groups. We ended up trying a number of items: - Beef Belly Skewers: Very good. Everyone loved them. I wished we had ordered more. - Chicken Skewers: Ok. I think asked for something but they ran out and gave us gizzards and hearts, which are never good because they become mealy and not enjoyable to eat. - Dungeness Crab with Salty Egg Yolk: Good. Prepared as well as lots of restaurants. They provide disposable gloves to eat with, but nothing to crack the shells. - Stir Fried Vegetables: Good. No complaints. - Fresh Fish with Tofu Hot Pot: Very good. - Fresh Fish Steamed: Very good. - Lobster with Sticky Rice: Very good. Service is really very good. Genuinely more friendly and talkative than I'm accustomed too, but I appreciated. Overall, a good meal. It was different in that the decor and service is what really stood out, and that's the difference maker compared to most other Chinese restaurants with the same quality of food. That being said, you pay for it too. I definitely enjoyed it, but it better suited for a small groups rather than large ones.

What's appealing here is that their Instagram advertises daily specials so you can get some dishes for a great discount (like 40% off). We tried the braised combo (pork ear, pork intestines, fish cake), Taiwanese egg wrap, braised pork sauce rice with deep fried pork chop, and yam taro mochi balls. The braised combo is pretty solid - I didn't really like the funkiness to the intestines (I generally enjoyed it in barbecue settings) but the fish cake was fantastic. I also liked the texture of the pork ears. The Taiwanese egg wrap was a bit tasteless, so I wouldn't recommend. Braised pork sauce rice is the lu ruo fan which is a large portion with seaweed, bean sprouts, and soup on the side. Pork chop was flavorful and juicy but not crispy batter, which is okay. Yam taro mochi balls were sweet and chewy. I don't like taro but I loved this dessert! Service is okay. They give a water jug for self pour but the water jug was of questionable cleanliness. The specials were not discounted so we called it out and we weren't told that we had to put the order with a server, not the QR code, so it was a strange interaction. They ended up honoring the discount. Also, they shut down ordering 1 min before 10:30pm - guess they didn't want more money as we wanted to order 1 more dish and they preemptively told the kitchen to close. Sure it's fine no big deal, it was a lot of food.
