Whenever I crave spicy fried chicken, Dave's is usually a top contender. Often times, places that offer spicy chicken sandwiches never make them hot enough, but Dave's hot chicken has spice levels that bring me joy. The chicken sandwiches are always flavorful and always bring the heat. The chicken in the chicken sandwiches are always fried to perfection, have a nice red color to it, and large enough to stick out of the bun. On top of the great sandwiches, customer service at this particular location is very good. My only complain is that I get the 'no spice' option for my son and it's always flavorless and just tastes like fryer oil. Overall though, it's a great choice for hot chicken. I was pretty excited to try this place out! We ordered some food for take-out. I got their #3 which is their 1 tender + 1 slider with fries. I also got a vanilla shake and mac and cheese. The chicken itself was pretty good and juicy. You can choose the spice level and I chose mild because I wasn't sure about how spicy it would get. I would definitely bump up the spice next time as I wasn't really feeling too much. The slaw in the slider was really nice and complimented the chicken really well, making it almost a refreshing bite each time. I tried out the Dave's sauce and, to me, it tastes a bit like the sauce they use in McDonald's Big Mac which I love. I switched out the regular fries for cheese fries in my order, although I definitely think the nacho cheese flavor was a bit too overwhelming for me. The mac and cheese was fairly standard. I've seen Dave's Hot Chicken all over So Cal. This is the first one that I've seen in the Bay Area. I looked it up, and there are a half dozen other locations scattered around the Bay Area. So, how do they measure up? Pretty good. There are better chicken shops around, but Dave's is open late. That's uncommon in the Tri-Valley, so extra credit for that. We happened to go on graduation night, and the place was packed (line out the door) with 17-18 year olds, celebrating graduation. The noise level was off the chart. I don't believe that this is typical. The chicken has a breaded crust, not a batter coating like you'd get from the national chain restaurants. It's also cooked to a nice crispness, borderline overdone, but at that Goldilocks "just right" stage. The thing I like best about Dave's is that you have 7 heat levels to choose from for your Hot Chicken. I tried Medium and Hot. Both are good, and the hot one brought a little tear to my eye. Just right, I'd say. I didn't want fries, but everything comes with fries. I'm glad I tried them. The fries were also delicious. I mix the Dave's Sauce with ketchup for an excellent french fry dip. The menu is limited, and that's a good thing. They only do a few things, and they do them well. Restaurants lose their way when they expand the menu too much. My only criticism is mild. The Chicken Tenders come with bread, which I didn't care for. Maybe a roll or biscuit would be better. The sandwich comes with a small amount of slaw. I would prefer a second spoonful thrown on there. And the crew was friendly and smiling. Overall, 4 stars. read more

I was meeting a friend after work for a dinner date and scrolled Yelp for an inexpensive yummy spot and settled on Dave's Hot Chicken. The price in a previous review that showed the signage for their meals stated, the 2 sliders with fries was $14.49, upon arrival the updated price currently is $15.49. A bit much and no drink included and small to medium basket of fries. The meal is perfect for two. The slider has sauce, pickles, and a tiny bit of cole slaw (advertised is kale slaw). I didn't notice that it was kale slaw. The chicken was slightly moist, crispy, and there were packets of Dave's medium sauce and honey. I blended the two together to add to my sandwich and it was good, but not crazy good where I would be coming back for more. The sandwich could have been more flavorful, for my taste buds. The fries were crispy and savory. Overall a nice experience and I'm glad I checked it out. read more

Oh man this is not okay. You want to know why? Because this Dave's hot chicken is extremely close to me and I worry that I will go here often!!Help. So I remember when they had a grand opening last year and my coworker said it was good. Sadly, when I went, everything tasted really salty and just bad. Fast forward to months later and I think to myself I should give it another go. Ordered the two sliders and fries. Man let me tell you my first bite of that chicken slider was amazing. The chicken was tender, the bun soft and the flavor! Wow! Every topping/ingredient on the slider complimented each other. Loved it 10/10. There's lots of seating inside and outside. Very clean too. Came here again and this time we dined in, so the food was freshly fried and was so good. I actually enjoy the fries the most today. So light and crispy on the outside and soft inside! The new kid on the block!! Came on Friday of their opening week around 5:45pm and the line hadn't wrapped around the corner yet; waited about 15 minutes before reaching the front. The two folks manning the registers were so efficient (honestly, everyone working there was from cleanup to calling out order numbers). Love the excitement from a new restaurant, and it felt like the whole town came :) Side of Mac and cheese ($3.75): I personally prefer my Mac and cheeses as gooey and cheesy as possible with big macaroni and this was exactly that. Dave's #3 ($13.49): Holy moly I was so full after this!! I associate the word "slider" with a smaller burger, and I'm pretty sure this was normal sized because that chicken was HUGE lol. The tender comes on top a slice of white bread (so...an open faced sandwich?), and I tasted the spices a lot better. I got it mild and could probably go medium next time! Dave's has come to Dublin! I'm so happy to have finally tried Dave's Hot Chicken!! I appreciated the fast and friendly service during a busy opening day. I love the clean, bright interior, funky decor and the bright red tables and chairs. The menu is simple and I had Dave's #3 heat level hot with one slider, one tender and crinkle cut fries. The chicken is so juicy and tender and I love the dry spice rub. The batter is not too thick and has a good crunch. Hot was the perfect spice level for my taste. Ordered a medium level #4 which came with the chicken sandwich, fries, and pickles. If you ask for sauce they are really generous and packed our bag with honey, ketchup, and Dave's secret sauce which pretty much tastes like everyone else's secret sauce aka thousand island lol The medium is not spicy at all, literally just looks red but tastes like a non spicy thigh. Next time I'm gonna go up two notches to see if that has any spicy heat at all. Overall the chicken was moist AF and decently crispy and juicy. The fries were not crunchy but maybe it would be more so if I ate fresh from the restaurant. The slider came with like minimal kale slaw and a stack of pickles. Overall delicious for about $10! Today was free slider day and it was super packed. The service was good, the store was clean, and was well-managed for the amount of people there. However, when I opened my slider, I found some sort of label in the slider. I'm glad that it was free and they were rushing, but I don't think that that was supposed to be in the sandwich. It tasted fine; I still ate it because I already got home by the time I opened it, but the thought of having some random label in the sandwich gave me an icky feeling. Our order was ready by the time we got there. There is a ton of parking in the plaza. It is across from Safeway and AAA. The food was ok. The best chicken I would ever eat in my life. Normally I make my own chicken burgers but on Black Friday, I decided to drop by. Not a bad place at all if you don't count the high prices. In the reality no one cares about the high prices because you are paying for good taste. Everyone who works here is very nice and are always very cheerful to help you. This may be a chicken joint but is very popular. There are plenty of places to sit if you come at the right time. You see a mix of both dine in and to go people. Chicken comes with this very nice sauce and fries. Second to none! It lives up to the phrase "winner winner chicken dinner". It was good I took 2 sauces home to make my own burgers. For me, it's not my thing. Just personal preference, because everyone around us seemed to be enjoying themselves. Be prepared though, because for some reason, this chain attracts mostly young kids (think high school/early college). Equals high energy high noise and a lot of "bro" this "bro" that. I warned you. Anyhoo, my little ones got the no spice and I got the medium spice. First off, I got the combo of slider/strip. These pieces were absolutely huge. Which explains the high prices. So I guess in a way, you're getting your money's worth's worth. Tried the no spice and while very crispy, was bland of flavor (of course), since no spice. My my kid seemed to enjoy hers. Go figure. Mines had cole slaw a pickle and medium spice. Great combo. Took a bite and whoa. Even the medium spice had a kick to it. It looked like a combo of marination on the spice and some kind of dry rub on it. Tasted fine, but got a bit hot later on. Might try again in the future. Tonight I ordered the Dave's #2 2 Sliders w/ Fries, I ordered ahead on the Dave's Hot Chicken App! It said my food would be ready in 10 mins. I arrived right on time and the food was already ready and packaged up to me! Super easy to pick up, the guy was nice and quickly gave me my order! Definitely make sure to use the app because you can earn "frequent frier" points with each purchase and you can redeem for freebies once you reach a certain amount of points! Dave's Hot Chicken is great I first started going to it when I used to live in LA, and the Dublin location doesn't disappoint! I almost always get the 2 sliders with fries, I love the hotness of it and the way the rest of the sandwich balances it out. I usually get medium hot! The Dave's sauce is tasty too I got 2 extra packets ($0.25 each) so I'd have enough for the sando and the fries. While they do have drinks, I've tried the lemonade in the past which was great! I went to teaspoon for a drink to pair with my meal, it's nice they are right next door to each other! The fries were crispy and had a seasoning on them and the Dave's sauce complements the chicken really well. I also got the strawberry shake which helps with the heat. Pickled onions and pickles were included with the order. Placed my order at the counter and a number is assigned for food pick up. The food was quickly prepared. The slider was served hot and crispy, no sauce was necessary to doctored the taste. It was fine as is. The fries were plenty, crispy and tasty. This combo was reasonably priced @$9.99. Located in the Safeway shopping center at the corner of Tassajara and Dublin Blvd. the restaurant has seating indoors and outdoors. I went at 2:30 pm and there was still a short line. The interior decor is neat with bright graffiti colors. The menu is simple with chicken tenders, sliders and fries. I got the #2 two hot chicken sliders and fries, and a large Chocolate milkshake. The hot chicken sliders were excellent and the Dave's sauce is "crack ". I thought it was a bit pricey at $25. Only knock is that they could clean the tables more diligently and another cashier would make the process faster. read more

Dave's is in the former Baja Fresh space, which is now transformed to a bit of a more edgy walk up eatery. As the name "Hot Chicken " suggests only chicken is served. Good size chicken strips are breaded with Choices of heat level seasoned on the breaded chicken. We ordered a lite mild and medium. The combo of the lite mild heat with honey ( packets of honey accompanied the order) was a good combo - sweet and spicy. The Dave's sauce also comes in small packets does not have ingredients printed on the packet, so anybody's guess what's in it. If you are one of those mayo adversed people, ya might want to skip. The crinkle fries are respectable. A little crisp on the edges and the crinkles hold catsup or Dave's sauce well. The slaw that comes on the sandwich is also served as a side and has a bit of kale. It's lite and crisp. Shakes are offered are a good compliment, but not a shake destination. I've been a big fan of Dave's Hot Chicken since they only had a couple of locations in LA. Now, they're all over the Bay Area and this is their newest location. Since this is located in a plaza with Safeway and lots of other restaurants, parking is super easy. I stopped by on a Saturday afternoon and was able to find a space right up front. The restaurant itself is pretty spacious with lots of seating inside. Also, since it's so new, it's really clean. The art on the walls is different at every Dave's and it was fun to see their iteration here. We arrived outside of the normal busy meal hours (too late for lunch but too early for dinner) so we ordered immediately. They've got a simple straightforward menu so our food was prepared quickly after. My go to is the #3 hot (includes 1 slider, 1 tender, fries, and a drink). If you've read my other reviews, you know my spice tolerance is high. Tbh, I could prob go up a spice level here but I didn't want to sacrifice flavor for heat. I'll try that eventually. Everything tasted great and of course, you've gotta get the sauce. I feel like $14 is an expected price for this size meal and I always end up having a little left over for to-go. I did see that they had shakes here that you can add toppings to (Oreos, m&m's, etc). I was tempted to get it but ended up passing this time. My friend really liked this though!
