We went to the Denny's on Rosedale Highway on Saturday night after the Journey concert. It was almost midnight and the place was packed. The staff was slammed, but they all worked together to make sure that they could take care of the overflow crowd. We sat up at the bar and watched the "organized chaos".... Everybody worked together and nobody complained! The place was full, and the staff handled it great! This is the total opposite of the experience we had at the Oildale Denny's by the airport a few months ago.... That location.... Came in for my birthday grand slam earlier. I had wanted to sit in the bar just after 11am, but was told there was no food service in there due to a lack of servers in there. The server was nice and said I could still order whatever drinks I wanted. I asked for a drink menu and she came back and instead of providing me with a menu, she asked if I wanted a beer, mixed drink, etc. I said I wanted a mix drink and she asked if I knew what I wanted, so I just ordered a Long Island. Clem, who appeared to a manager, brought me my drink. It tasted like an actual iced tea with some mystery booze in it. I have no idea what I got, but it was $8. I come here in the evening on my lunch hour. I don't want to go into it other to say the manager I believe her name is Amanda is not at all friendly. I am in customer service and I'm pretty sure you don't act like she does. Maybe she's in the wrong line of work. And up until then I didn't even say a word for her to be rude. I won't be going back anytime soon not as long as Amanda (I think that's her name) works there You guys need to demote her maybe she would become more humble and treat customers the way we should be treated. Yes, I know, I was at a Denny's during daylight hours; I'm just as shocked as you are. Much of Denny's popularity is due to the fact that they are open 24 hours a day. The food isn't particularly imaginative, nor is it great for those on diets, but it's certainly filling and if you're looking for greasy comfort food favorites this is your spot. You can order spaghetti, chicken fried steak, burgers, pot roast, chicken strips, biscuits & gravy - all your fattening favorites. And don't forget the new $2, $4, $6, $8 menu with its inexpensive options. The $4 cheese melt consists of 4 fried mozzarella sticks sandwiched in the middle of a grilled american cheese sandwich. Get it? Fried cheese inside melted cheese - I can feel my arteries clogging at the mere thought of it. I visited this particular Denny's with fellow Yelper Kate B. the first week in November and had the opportunity to sample their new Hobbit menu. I ordered the Hobbit Slam with 2 eggs, Shire sausage, grits, French Seed Toast, and side of fluffy Pumpkin Pancakes. The French Seed Toast was basically lemon poppyseed bread dipped in egg and fried like French toast with a drizzle of frosting over the top. It tasted more like a sweet dessert than like a breakfast food. The fluffy Pumpkin Pancakes were so good I ate them without any syrup. Kate B. ordered the Hobbit Hole breakfast and said she enjoyed it, too! Our server, Jamie, was very cheerful and attentive in spite of the crowd that was there. She constantly checked to make sure we had everything we needed, refilled our water and coffee, she even brought us an entire holder of Splenda when we asked for additional packets. An Unexpected Meal I've been looking forward to trying out Denny's tribute to geekdom: The Hobbit menu. I went in today with a friend and it was available early! I'm a huge hobbit fan and was delighted at the selection of hobbit and dwarf-themed dishes. The options weren't terribly clever or fancy, just reliable Denny's eats with a twist. I had the Hobbit Hole breakfast, essentially an eggy in a basket with cheese-covered hash browns and bacon. It was good, but could have used a little something more in terms of flavor. Our server, Jamie, was very pleasant and went out of her way to take care of us even though it was a busy morning. When we asked for more Splenda packets for our coffee she quickly returned with an entire holder full of Splenda. She also informed us that we would get free Hobbit trading cards with our meal. I'm not too big on cards, but they included coupons for free food and discounts. Strangely, I found myself filled with child-like excitement at getting my own Gandalf the Grey card. I have been going to Denny's for years and my experiences always varied from good to sometimes not so great. During the summer it is usually busier but that is expected so that does not bother me.....when my husband and I were seating shortly after our server came to ask for our drinks - she made suggestions on drinks to try out and gave us enough time to look through our menu without being rushed. Once we ordered - our food was nice and hot. Amanda had all of our drinks refilled before our food came out. As a former restaurant server in Los Angeles I understand how hetic it can be when there is a full house but Amanda was very attentive and had the best attitude every time she approached our table to see how we were doing or needed anything additional. Amanda is such a great server - she gave my husband and I an amazing experience and we couldn't have been any happier having her as our server. Ask for Amanda next time you visit Denny's! read more

I got the pot roast....wow was i ever disappointed it had A LOT of gravy a lot nothing like the picture showed. Staff was cold and uninviting i asked for no mushrooms and ended up with little to no veggies the sampler was delicious my Coke was great but greatly dissatisfied with my Pot Roast the bread under the pot roast was totally wet just slimy and soggy. Yesterday I visited this location while in town from Atlanta, Ga. The food was delicious. I was surprised at the low carb options on the menu. I had 2 egg whites, spinach, tomatoes, and a side order of squash and zucchini. I also had lemon and tea. It has been a long time since I have eaten at Denny's . Worst place on service and food was Eh. First off our coffee was bad. Like they never cleaned the coffee maker. Then our waitress "(wasn't friendly)" was in a hurry to take our order when hardly any people in the restaurant. It took forever for our food to come out and then when she brought our food she wouldn't ask if needed anything just walk away and when she would come up to the next table I would call her and tell what we need and she walks away when I wasn't done telling her. She Never brought the stuff we ask for. But when the check come out her attitude changed from being rude to friendly waitress. WTH?! All for her tips! Well guess? I DIDN'T leave a tip!!! Yes I know some restaurant split their tips. I'm not one to leave bad yelp reviews since I've worked in the industry for awhile but it's frustrating everytime we come in and Martin is our server and he's extremely rude. He literally snaps his fingers at you to get your attention. A group of 5 of us came last week and he was so rude and had very little patience. We assumed he was having a hard day and didn't want to complain or think too much into it, it happens people are human. But when we came again tonight and again same scenario not a crowed restaurant we were his only table and he was still snappy and inpatient. Dont normally leave bad reviews unless its needed, so my family went to grab some breakfast and everything was good until they left unfortunately my sister forgot her side bag/purse behind. She then realized and returned within 5 minutes when she got there she let them know she had forgot her side bag/purse and they asked her a couple questions on how it looked she described them, the employee then went into the back towards the kitchen and came back with her bag. While inspecting her bag when she gets in the car she notices her apple airpods are missing so she returns and employees say they didnt see anything and nothing was turned in to the lost and found. After going in myself and speaking with the manager he stated he didnt have access to the camaras that i had to wait till the next day for the general manager since she had already left. After speaking with the general manager she seemed like she didnt even care or was bothered about the situation, says she checked the camaras and didnt see anyone pick up a bag but somehow it was in the back room? Had the worst experience here ever! Went there for a late dinner while we were there a large party of about 20 were waiting to get there checks, apparently they had been waiting quite a while as all of the checks were wrong in the meantime we placed our orders and received our food pretty promptly HOWEVER our food was EXTREMELY cold & my sisters order was incorrect! Instead of a simple order of bacon she received sausage which is fine but we never saw our waitress again for over 30 minutes, during this time we witnessed 3 people leave for the back for their breaks,still no waitress & observed the 29 plus table not getting anywhere with their issue, at this point as the busboy was cleaning off the large table we asked him if there was any one to help us, he shrugged his shoulders, looked around around but at no point did he try to find anyone!!! He was too busy talking to another busboy!!! We are now 45 minuted into our "experience " I then took matters into my own hands & went up to the front where I found 3 people trying to STIll try to check out the large table!!! There was a huge line!!! I couldn't believe NOT ONE PERSON came to check on our table or anyone else's for that matter!!! I asked if we might get help & was told they were busy trying to check people out & they would be with us in a minute!!! 15 minutes later someone FINALLY came to our table with the CHECK!!! Never asked us if we were ok,how our experience was(lol) @ this point it was just absolutely laughable the "lack" Of attention/customer service we had experienced!!
