Avoid at all costs. We came here after a night out and didn't expect much. Boy were we proven right. Not only did we eventually seat ourselves as the 1 server kept passing us by without any acknowledgment, we eventually grabbed our own menus as the other server posted up at the counter with a scowl. It wasn't very busy but we saw they were short staffed so we each went to the bathroom to give them some more time to get their act together. Upon returning to our booth, we still had not been acknowledged and proceeded to wait patiently. After waiting another 15 minutes at the booth without even a drink order or a proper acknowledgment, we quietly slipped away into the night. Came in yesterday with a friend around 11 am and sat at the high bar. We had a pool party to attend to at noon but we didn't get our food until around 12:25, our server mick kept checking on us and apologizing saying our cook was slow and that everyone's energy was high because some guy got fired because he and the boss was going back and forth about her attitude and he was running his mouth. For the record, I love me some Denny's and haven't had any in years. Do you now know how ecstatic I was to see there was one near my hotel room??????? I had to stop in. Walking in, you have the true old school feel of Denny's. The location has an open floor plan and isn't crowded. They also have the high counter which is where we chose to sit. Upon sitting at the high counter we were greeted by a smiling Debbie W. who welcomes us in and takes our drink order. The menu has evolved some over the years, however, the old school classics are still there for those like me who stay true to the originals. LoL! Today I decided to build my own slam. I chose, Bacon (2x) Sausage Links English Muffin Oh yes. I was excitedddddd when it come out. LoL. It didn't take long for my order to come out and everything was fresh. The bacon was crispy, the english muffin was soft on the inside and lightly toasted on the outside. The Manager, Nicole, reminded me to not forget about my jelly and I am so glad she did. Babeeeeeee, I added that grape jelly and it heightened the entire flavor experience. LoL!! The sausage links could have been on the grill a little longer to have a bit more color to them, however, they were cooked fully and tasted good. I ordered online for the first time was Denny's and it was a fairly easy process. I was looking for a quick fresh bite while traveling to have in my hotel room nearby at the Hilton Anatole. A club sandwich is usually perfect to keep in the fridge. I waited till the designated time that my food was to be ready and then waited in the pick-up parking spot. Second day in Dallas, I got lost, looking for the light rail station. I just walked in a huge circle, getting nowhere. I was hot & thirsty when I saw this place. So I dropped in for a tall cup of iced tea. Everyone, working there, looked like they were not happy working there & not happy that I was there. One looked like she was in pain, throughout her shift. Seriously! She looked as if she was about to burst into tears any minute. They told me they don't have iced tea, though I see it on the menu. So I ordered the cold brew. It was rich, smooth, & frosty, which satisfied my thirst. The second cup, however, tasted like a watered-down version. I decided to have something quick for a light lunch, so I ordered the fish sandwich. But it kept breaking up & falling apart, with each bite. It was so hard to hold it as one unit throughout the meal. Meanwhile, one of the waitresses was out back, somewhere, yelling at someone over the phone. I felt like I had entered one of the circles of hell. When I got back to my hotel room, everything, I ate, went right through me. Fortunately, I packed some diarrhea pills. This is my second time that I've been to this Denny's and I feel compelled to write about how underwhelming my visit was. There's two people (one serving and one checking out) that I know of working the front of house and one guy in the kitchen, it was 3 in the afternoon so I understand the chance of having a lull in the middle of the day however it doesn't mean that you shouldn't be prepared (when we arrived there were 3 other groups seated), our server took a while to get our drink order and a bit longer to ask what we would want to order. He was a bit absent minded as he came back three times to ask how everyone wanted their orders prepared (eggs,sausage or bacon) and mine still came out wrong lmao the food was sitting under a heat lamp for well over ten minutes because we could see it from our seats meanwhile the "Staff" huddled in a booth behind the register chatting and taking it easy, I assumed at first that it was because maybe everything wasn't ready yet but when our food finally did arrive we had to wait for two more items to finish. I could see people around us looking around as if to say "the service sucks". The gentleman (whom I could only assume was in charge because of his clothes) that handled the register never came out from behind the cubbyhole to help refill drinks or take food to other tables. I feel for the guy in the kitchen he seemed to be the only one actually working. Even then the food was unfortunately average as sitting for too long under a lamp definitely killed what potential it had. This place has to be family owned cause I recognized the two guys working from last year and because no self-respecting franchisee would let their store be run like this unless the "Staff" had an in with them, as someone who visits for a couple of days a year it sucks having the most accessible food next to your hotel be so Bum. I came the same night as a festival at the Market center last year and the rave had to have just let out cause I ordered food online around 10pm only to be told it would be ready in an hour (which I understand, there's an event it's gonna be busy) but I waited up until almost 2 in the morning. Mind you I was charged the order and had to wait three days to get my refund. If you're in town for an event (LAN, Market Hall Day) or staying at one of the Adjacent hotels do not entertain the idea of coming here especially if it's the day or night of and should the Owners/Managers read this review for the love of Christ prepare for cases like this get more staff or adjust the roster cause this was not the A-Team. Shouts out to the Kitchen Staff I'm coming off as a Karen but genuinely this is one of the only times I've felt called to inform the public of such a stain on a restaurant's name Bottom line: This place sucks, it the one they built just so you could say "Let's not go to that one, let's go to the good one." First it was very empty which was nice, but they had visitor that had a bunch of bags & shoes that definitely caused an uneasiness for my family. I had to eat as soon as possible after I arrived in Dallas and got settled and I didn't want to walk so far in the wind so I went here. I was staying at a local hotel and this Dennys is in the parking lot. I got hungry for something sweet, so I walked over and ordered a caramel apple crisp and a milkshake. There was 8 workers and approximately 6 customers and it took them over 45 minutes to make a shake and to heat up some apple crisp. And I wasn't told that they were out of all ice cream except strawberry so when my apple crisp was finally done I was given strawberry ice cream with caramel syrup on it, that is not a good taste together at all. The apple crisp was very good but very messy and very very little of it. I also of course did not eat the ice cream on apple pie because once again strawberries and apple pie wouldn't be a great combo. The milk shake I can't complain about except that it was $7.19 for a solo cup and half was whip cream. So $16 and didn't really get to finish any thing because it wasn't done correctly!! read more
