This place has been open several months, and I was looking forward to not having to get to Maryland/Virginia for "suburban" food. We were there today with friends from out of town, and this was a complete disaster, a complete failure like I've not seen in many many many years. They seated us okay, but I'd rather have the host speak to us rather than having 2 conversations on the way to the table. Food was ordered. 20 minutes later, manager came over and apologized that we didn't have drinks yet. Promised to expedite. We finally got coffee & soda, never got juice. I went to the kitchen to get straws & silverware. Of the 5 meals ordered, 3 got to the table. Later, person #4 got his meal, and #5 get her meal, though hers was really #3's meal, repeated. Food wasn't good. Mine was so/so, but the other people at the table had all sorts of problems with taste, consistency or missing parts of the meal. Fourty five minutes after this,when we got the bill, I pointed out to the waitress that meal #5 (the grand slam) was charged, but had not yet made it to the table. She said she'd fix it. This "dialogue" with the waitress alarmed the table next to us, until someone at my table pointed out to them that they've just gotten there and haven't noticed the fiasco, and they should notice that not all of us had our food. By then, we'd also spoken to 2 managers, apparently, without much purpose. We finally all 5 got up, stormed out to the cash register to pay. The manager there says "I sure hope you enjoyed everything". Sure, clueless waitress (even if she was new, she could have apologized,or understood that meals were missing) and clueless management; that's a great way to kill a new business. So, lesson learned. One early morning in early August, I awoke with anticipation. Later that night, The Cure were playing Lollapalooza in Chicago and I was going to watch their set online, comfortable in D.C. and far away from the mud, sweat, and douchebag tears (okay, may douchebags don't cry to The Cure, but I do). To celebrate "seeing" The Cure in 2013, I engaged in behavior I would have in 1993 and went to a Denny's. On this Sunday morning in 2013 this Denny's was very unlike the ones I went to 20 years ago. It was filled with pleasant parishioners straight out of church and dressed in their finest. To accompany their eating of greasy food (to get the lord faster?), gospel and soul music played in the background at relatively loud volumes (but, hey, it beats Hootie & The Blowfish). And people were actually singing along. Unlike many Denny's I've been to in the past, the bathrooms here were (almost) spotless and the service was spot on. It did take some time to get refills on my sweet tea but the place was packed so I'm giving my server the benefit of the doubt. They all seemed to be in great moods at least. Not surly like many Denny's waitstaff. The food was Denny's quality. So it wasn't the world's finest brunch but the portions were big and inexpensive. While I'm not about to shout "hallelujah" about my time eating here, Denny's put me in the spirit. Besides being difficult to get to without a car, this Denny's is the best I've been to. And with a stomach full of Grand Slam hours later, I enjoyed my concert 1993 style. read more

Have been here at least a dozen times in the past 6 months. My Beloved drives for metro and his division is about two miles away. So after a long day this is our go to spot. We both absolutely love the food. He gets anything from the steak and eggs to the moon over my hammy. I tend to stick with the lumberjack. It's always hot and tasty and served with a smile! The young people that serve are consistently friendly and well mannered. Even though I think one was a little too friendly with my Beloved asking him one too many questions, batting those big eyes. I honestly can't remember the last time I've gone to Denny's. I'm sure it was sometime many years ago in Ga. Nonetheless, the commercial featuring the pumpkin pancakes was on repeat in my mind and I just had to taste them. I ended up ordering the pumpkin pancake breakfast with eggs and bacon as well as a pumpkin coffee and it was delicious. All of that food for a mere $8.00. I've been to a bunch of Denny's and this is a pretty good one. It's a new building/location so everything is clean and new. The sugar holder doesn't even have any wear and tear yet. Service - server was fast and super helpful. We even asked to split the bill weird so we could use coupons and she did without hesitation. Hi-5. Her tip was awesome! Food - I are so fast I don't really remember. But then again that means I had no complaints. I had a Belgium waffles, eggs and bacon. Sometimes waffles can be dry, but no - pretty good. At least a 3 stars. Location - 2 stars. it's sort of in a strange place. I've never even driven past the location before. Maybe if I lived on that side of town I would, but I don't. It's probably going to end up being more of a neighborhood spot as it isn't really convenient to metro. That's a shame. It's a nice place. read more

The food is what you would expect pretty straight forward eggs, sandwiches and some salads. It's not fancy but hits the spot when you're on a tight budget. The service at this particular restaurant is terrible. I asked the wait staff multiple times for milk for my coffee and hot sauce for my eggs. They never brought either one until I finally spoke with a manager. Forget about a refill on your beverage. I could understand poor service if the restaurant was super busy but it wasn't. Disclaimer: Five stars when compared to its competitors, not in comparison with expensive restaurants. This distinction is important only with regards to food, not service. I love this Denny's. I used to hate every Denny's, all of them. When I was a young adult, I toured around all over the eastern US in a band. We ate at a lot of Denny's establishments, since they are generally open very late and playing in a rock band works up a large appetite. My opinion of Denny's as a whole was that the food is always cold, takes an hour to show up, and is sub par, like microwaving an already microwaved meal to heat it up a second time. However, this Denny's on Bladensburg Rd. in Trinidad is awesome. It is awesome for many reasons. Their food is always hot, served quick, and feels like real food. I've been here more times than I can count now, since I'm often needing to pull all-nighters studying or just need a quick cheap breakfast. The food is always served within 20 minutes at the most. I once placed an order for a simple breakfast of eggs and pancakes, and literally, the server walked to the back and emerged within 3 minutes with a plate of hot food. They also will occasionally hook you up with cheddar for your eggs for no charge. It's not super common, but a nice surprise when it's not on the bill. The service here is better than most restaurants I've been to in DC. The servers are very friendly, attentive, stop by the table often to fill my coffee/water, and never rush me out the door. Kenya is my favorite, but I've never had a bad server. I've also never had an empty coffee cup. The managers have always been friendly, too, and tend to check on customers when the restaurant gets busy. Literally the one of the worst Denny's I've ever been in and I've been to some pretty bad ones. We came in Saturday morning after a night of late night dancing at a local D.C. Club and expected atleast decent service. Instead we got rude and unprofessional employees manning the front counter, literally has to seat ourselves and it took almost 30 minutes for our orders to be taken and another 45 for 3 very basic meals to be made. Soooo.. this morning around 11:30ish I placed an online order to be delivered to my work place for me and a co-worker. I went directly to the Denny's website to the Bladensburg location where there was NO MENTION that they use Door Dash as a 3rd party delivery service. Long story short- I was charged $55.48 ( $17.03 in service charges, taxes, delivery fees and Tip) for an order I never received. I was told a tall, heavy set and light-skinned lady by the name of Erika came in around 11:45 AM, showed her phone, picked up my order and left with a T-Bone Steak & eggs and Lumberjack Slam! After calling Denny's to report the incident, (and being transferred a few times) I was told it could take up to 5 business days to get my refund. Wow...just Wow! Customer Service has truly gone to hell in a hand bag and COVID can no longer be used as an excuse for these type of mishaps. I recently visited this establishment with a friend and honestly we were really surprised at the awesome service we received. I'm one of those "keep it real reviewers" so hopefully I don't offend anyone by saying this...I didn't expect the restaurant, food, or service to be as good as it was because of the neighborhood its in. I know their revamping DC, but honestly where this Denny's is located I was truly impressed. Upon entering the restaurant we were greeted with a very warm and chipper "good morning", we were seated in a timely fashion, the waitress came over immediately, spoke, gave her name and said she will do everything possible to ensure our visit is pleasant and she did just that. We ordered our food and within 10 minutes it was brought to us pipping hot and delicious. Our waitress made sure we had everything from enough napkins to syrup...she was just that on point and when she noticed we hadn't finishing our food she asked if everything was okay and we told her yes...we were just stuffed. Afterwards she brought us both and to-go containers and separate bags (a plus for me) and asked if there was anything else she could assist us with. Now that was excellent customer service to me and worth the enormous tip we left her. Again...I can't think of one bad thing to say about this Denny's and my only hope is it stays this way. I'm not sure who the manager on duty was but I have to take my hat off to him/her...the staff truly took pride in their job and was more than willing to serve and ensure we had a pleasant experience. Why did I not give a 5 star review...I never do until I go back and visit to see if the service is the same, and that's when I'll know if it deserves 5 stars, but to get a 4 star review from ME after only one visit...they impressed me. read more

Everything was hot and good as usual- kids got slamwhiches, my cousin had the Philly chicken melt and I had a grand slam with chicken sausage, eggs and whole wheat pancakes.
