My wife and I go to Destination Soups on a semi-regular basis and the food is always fresh and delicious. The soups are so flavorful and filling and the Rick Cheese sandwich is out of this world (grilled cheese with bacon and apple...mmm). I always bring friends from out-of-town to this little place and they always leave happy! If you're need a quick bite to eat in New Bedford, this is probably my number one recommendation (even if you're not in a hurry, its a great place). They were out of the soup I wanted (Chicken Vegetable) by 2:30 p.m. on a Friday, so instead I had the Cool as a Cucumber salad and LOVED it - I could eat it every day - and the Rick Cheese sandwich, which I also LOVED (white cheddar with thin apple slices, bacon, and balsamic vinegar). I've been here many times before. Was always delicious. However, this is now the third time in a row I've been there (they delivered; however, I am 5 minutes away via walking but unable to leave for lunch - not lazy) and let's just say, I had the most expensive lettuce ever just now! My Caprese salad was all mushy, no sliced tomatoes or mozzarella, as the delivery walker carried it upside down, and it had enough lettuce for approximately five bites. They were mostly "sprigs" or "trees," definitely not mixed greens (I'm Italian, I know my greens!). My grilled cheese with bacon and tomato barely had cheese and was so soaked with (butter, maybe?) that it "bled" through the wax paper and bag - it was also COLD! I ordered three salad dressings, and got two, even though I was charged for three. Oh, and lastly, their delivery is now a $20.00 minimum, with a $1.00 "charge." My stomach is turning! :-( read more

I can't praise Destination Soups enough. I have been there three times with a friend. Each time we ordered a few menu items and shared them. We both rave about everything we have sampled there (including: the cucumber salad, macaroni and cheese, chowder, vegan chili, the grilled cheese sandwiches and the creamy tomato basil soup). I love this place! The tomato basil soup is incredible and the grilled cheese sandwich selection is even better. The green monster grilled cheese is overflowing with spinach and I'm big fan of the Rick Cheese and Buffalo Chicken GC. It's BYOB and you can order half sandwiches. I was in New Bedford for the Folk Festival. Ate several times at Destination Soups. Found their food to be delicious and their staff to be very cheerful and helpful. Really loved the melon soup with mint - a cold soup perfect for a summer day. Also enjoyed one of their large salads with quinoa, beets, carrots, and avocado. Highly recommend this place. They were incredibly rude, I called to place an order for delivery, when I gave the address which is literally 3 blocks from the place, I was told they can't deliver there. Then the girl started speaking in the background to someone else and the guy said "just tell her it was a mistake we delivered there before, we're not going there" Sounds legit! The girl then said "yeah can't help you" in a very rude way We have gotten delivery many times, not just a one time mistake! The reason we order delivery is because we are a business and order for many people especially when we can't leave the office. We will not be calling again if they have no regard for their previously loyal customers. read more

I had the house salad-- all kinds of lettuce, avocado, hard boiled eggs, homemade croutons and I added chicken. This was one of the best things I've eaten, EVER. Everything was seasoned in a lovely way, the chicken was INCREDIBLE and somehow this salad had more flavors than most full meals. What would I do without Destination Soups?! I work up the street and eat lunch there one or two times a week. The staff is amazing, they know your name and greet you with a smile. The soups are fresh, inventive and flavorful. Grilled cheeses are the best. Salads are very good. This place is definitely special and one of New Bedford's gems. read more
