Destroyer is absolutely one of my favorite restaurants. You really are getting, like Michelin-star quality food but it's in a casual setting and the prices are very reasonable considering the quality. For this visit, we got the BLT Tartine, which honestly, I didn't think would be anything too great (which is why I hadn't gotten it before). It was... AWESOME!! The bacon doesn't really feel like bacon--it is more like eating a hunk of baby back rib or something. It is a whole chunk that has been smoked with mesquite and corn cobs and then sous vide so it just totally tender. And then all of the flavors on the bread along with this little salad and sauce thing you put on the top really brightens everything up. I highly recommend it. We also got the beet and apple salad which was very good. I always love the unique presentations on all the dishes. Overall, my favorite dishes (which we didn't have this time) are the rice porridge and the caramelized chickpeas (good for vegetarians). Destroyer is chef Jordan Kahn's take on a cafe. The place is good looking like all of chef Kahn's establishments but this is his most casual spot he has in Los Angeles. There's plenty of street parking and there's seating outside. We went for breakfast and the food is very very tasty so highly recommend this place for breakfast or lunch. They also offer some of the fanciest brunch dishes in a casual environment. you order at the register, get a number, then can grab one of the many outdoor tables to wait for your goods. It's so chill, great ambiance and the staff is so~ friendly! The loaded avocado confit is packed full of fresh flavors with cherry tomatoes, a couple slices of smoked prosciutto, a small dollop of burrata, a runny egg, arugula, and an interesting puffed rice addition, all served with a side of chewy bread. Loved this dish, it felt 'clean' while eating and would absolutely get it again. Was recommended by my friend and colleague (shout out to Sasha) and boy am I glad I took her advice. Koshihikari Rice Porridge: reminds me of the abalone rice congee/porridge my grandmother made for me growing up when I was sick at home. Pre soaked white rice stirred slowly in a pot over time until the rice softens into a thick porridge. Seasoning is added including simple salt and abalone to give mild flavor. In this case they added diced leeks broccoli, and black garlic topped with burnt onions. Wow chef's kiss. Definitely a must order. Wish they served more rice congee/porridge in other breakfast spots. 2. Loaded Avocado Confit: presented similar to a açaí protein bowl & poke bowl except with various topping that you can add layer by layer onto your sourdough bread (only three slices with each meal and definitely not enough). The bowl came with smoked prosciutto, Burrata, half avocado, cherry tomatoes, arugula, and poached egg (latter added). Delicious! Also a must order. 3. I wasn't sure what to expect from a Scandinavian breakfast but I can understand the hype behind this Michelin restaurant. The smoked rockfish and rice porridge (basically a twist on savory grits) made for an a tasty, savory combo bite. I've wanted to go here for a while and they by far exceeded my expectations, everything was excellent. We got a coffee and a milk tea, the forbidden orchard blueberries with coconut yogurt, the french toast and the chicken schnitzel. Everything was fresh and delicious. a fancy feeling brunch place with some yummy, expensive dishes. i came excited to try the koshihikari rice porridge, but unfortunately found it's not currently on the menu :( though that forced me to try some other things, i ended up being pretty pleased. - my favorite dish was the BLT tartine. it was a last minute add, based on a suggestion from the host, but it was both my and my friend's favorite. the bacon is thick, and there's a tomato sauce that is to die for. - the avocado confit was also delicious. most of it felt like something i could potentially recreate at home, but there was puffy/crispy rice that gave it that extra texture and oomph. - the fig french toast was a surprise, since i don't usually like sweet breakfast foods. the fig jam was not too sweet. the bread kind of had a sour taste that i wasn't the biggest fan of though. - chicken schnitzel was simple but yummy. i was a fan of it but my friend thought it was pretty basic. i would definitely recommend other things with more unique flavors/textures before this dish. the BLT tartine was so good i would maybe come back just for that. i came on a random wednesday and the line moved fast and there were a couple spots for a party of 2. i can definitely imagine this place being very packed and not fun to navigate during peak brunch times. i wouldn't think a super long wait is worth it. it's a bit strange to me that the food is so expensive but the vibes are much more casual and scrappy feeling. read more

My friends and I were underwhelmed by the food and I would NOT recommend this to any foodie friend who cares about value and taste. The loaded avocado confit bowl is something you can easily make at home - the ingredients are simple and you'd probably make a tastier version on your own. You go up to the kiosk to place an order and bus your own dishes away after eating; this is no issue at a regular restaurant but for the steep prices here it's surprising that the service is barely existent. There is also a 4% additional "healthy LA" charge on all bills. Giving a star for the aesthetic appeal and another half star for the lattes which were decent (not particularly special though). First look-- it looks super aesthetic. I love the ambiance and the wide outdoor seating options. Their menu is powered towards eco friendly and veggie focused, which is very in right now. But the flavors of these dishes and drinks weren't my favorite. The best thing was the rosewater latte, which is sweet & has a sort of perfume smell to it. The beef tartare has lots of sour flavors in the sauce -- probably to "cut through the meat scent and flavor" but it's too much like horseradish and the mayo like sauce is very sour. The porridge is also a bit sour and lacks flavor. I hope this helps in your menu selection! Cute/ aesthetic aside, I wouldn't try the dishes again sadly read more

Destroyer in Culver City is a nice place for breakfast. it is nothing to write home about. but it is just fine. The place is clean and cute and the service is nice. We have been once and won't be back because they are too pricey for what you get and there are other places that are much better a block or two away. They also have the now popular fee for nothing in my opinion. It is on the bill and most don't notice it and just pay it. I will not. I have spoken to employees from many places, including this one about the fee and what they get out of it, the answer is always nothing, they get nothing. Most are not considered full time and get no benefits at all. On the website they state: "A 4% Healthy LA charge will be added to each guest check to ensure health and medical benefits for all of our valued full time team members. In support of this initiative, the entirety of the charge is retained by the company. If you would like this charge removed, please let our staff know. Thank you for supporting our staff." The company gets it, most employees are not full time, not by their choice but by Destroyer. Their raw oatmeal is good as are their egg dishes. read more
