Went here for dinner for the first time. The ambiance is nice. The bar looked inviting, but we didn't try it. We were offered a window table, but opted for a booth. Should have taken the window table, it was pretty noisy in the booth area. Our server was pleasant but didn't seem too interested in doing more than the minimum. We were pleased to find Meiomi Pinot Noir on the menu. I had the pan fried sole and my date had the steak. Both were pretty average. My date lives in Lake Arrowhead and said that food in town during the low season is pretty mediocre everywhere. Caveat emptor. read more

Greated with, "What's up guys". The service was pretty poor. Either our waiter was drunk on meth or crack, not sure which. But then I noticed all the wait staff lacked professionalism. Our most recent meal will be our last here, until the greed and mismanagement stops. On the weekends, when the star chef is on duty, the food has been good enough to have kept us coming back for the past five years. However, they just raised prices by 20 - 25% and added a "secret" percentage of the bill fee, that shows up as an added charge on your bill. Management explained it as necessary to cover increased labor costs, but the servers said they're still making minimum wage, with no wage increases. So, it's just price gouging. As consumers, we've got to stop enabling greed fueled inflation. Let's take this place off our list of local restaurant options, until management comes to its senses. read more

Four star food, two star service. I have never had a more give a sh-- waiter in my life like I had here. We ordered appetizers and entrees together as some in our group had ate earlier and weren't looking for full entrees and waiter cuts my friend off right as he's ordering, and basically goes, "pump the brakes on your entree order, it's appetizer ordering time now," I was blown away and it just embarrassed my friend unnecessarily; look I get in the Village this is about as fancy as it's going to get for dinner, but let's not kid ourselves we ain't handing out Michelin stars here, so if you're going to sell yourself on anything it should be attentive and polite service along w/ good food, which unfortunately is what we should be talking about but are not simply because the waiter we had is in the wrong line of work. Don't get me wrong, the hostess, bartender, maître d and chef who cooked our excellent meals were wonderful, and the ambiance was that softly lit Victorian style, really cool...but what should've been a 4-5 star review becomes pedestrian by bad service, look we were all ready when we got there to spend some money to close out our weekend in the mountains in style, but we felt ignored and dismissed by one member of their staff and ultimately that's all it takes. I hope this is simply a one off bad experience for myself and our friends and that if you choose to eat here you're treated better and get to enjoy the very rustic, classic look the place has to offer and the great food. Honestly, the scallops in spinach Florentine, lobster escargot, sole, ribs were excellent and if given even slightly better service by our waiter that's what this review would be centered around. read more

This was a really disappointing experience. We did hear one server tell their table that the restaurant was implementing a "new system", so maybe that explains some of the issues here, but it def doesn't excuse all of them. Service was incredibly slow and inefficient - from waiting 15 mins for our reservation, to having anyone come by the table after we were seated. We didn't even get our food until we'd been sitting at the table for an hour - during which time the two-top behind us got seated after us and had their doggy bags wrapped up before we even got our entrees. We sat for probably 30 mins while waiting for anyone to come by and refill our water or ask if we wanted another round of drinks. Food was underwhelming. Steaks and ribs were....fine. We all felt the quality of food wasn't great - steaks were not worth that price. The pear salad was pretty bad - deconstructed salad with canned pear, wilted spinach, and some tart dressing on the side. Neither steak came at the temperature ordered (both overcooked), and the ribs were drowning in sauce. Not sure how this place got the rep as one of the more upscale options. There are other places with better food and better service, for sure. And better priced. Just an all around underwhelming experience. read more

Terrific service - our waiter was fantastic! I sure wish I remembered his name but he was a ton of fun. I hosted dinner for a small group and the food was good. Not great, but good. Preparation was acceptable, but the *taste* didn't justify the price. Was I expecting a great experience on our steaks, seafood, desserts? Well, yes. For the price - absolutely. I don't mind spending money and won't disclose what I paid. That is not the issue - it's price vs. performance. We had dinner on Saturday night and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. The restaurant has a nice feel and ambience and a good varied choice on the menu. Reminded me of pub restaurants back in England with probably the only thing missing was a roaring open fire. The service and our food were excellent. Truly a perfect night. We had a large party of 30 for a rehearsal dinner and everything was just wonderful. Courtney handled it all and was spot on with great service. Everybody got their food at the same time, which was hot and delicious. I think we had 4 servers attending us and Jason was ON IT with the drinks. NOBODY was ever thirsty! They even nicely packaged up the few meals from the few that were no shows. Desserts were also the bomb. Especially the Oreo Cheesecake. Ambiance was perfect and everyone had a great time. We highly recommend the Grill, especially if you have a large group. Few restaurants up there would accomodate and Saddleback hit a home run! read more

I don't know who Diane is but I hope to meet her someday when we stop by the restaurant. This place is a staple in our list of must-eat restaurants when we visit Lake Arrowhead. The food is always yummy and plentiful. Their chicken pot pie is a must try, along with their short rib, along with their ... well anything. Never had a bad meal. Service is always outstanding. We always sit on the patio because we have our dog Ginger with us and it's a nice ambiance - very comfortable - more so than the inside (my opinion). Definitely worth a visit. I'd have liked to have seen vegetarian entrees... i find it hard to believe with the trend literally everywhere at least attempting to serve non meat eaters, that this place would have gotten on board ... hmmm. I ended up ordering from the kid's menu, tasteless marinara on mediocre angel hair pasta. The pixley pear salad as only ok, not spectacular. Because it was a special night for my husband, I tried not to make a fuss. But yeah, it was pretty lame. My husband loved his meal. Some kind of steak that came with potatoes and a creamed spinach of some kind. He loved the house wine also... The atmosphere was uncomfortable to me. Sticky table, harsh lighting and for the hype and price, I expected better. The service was excellent. Not one complaint. Super chill, friendly, came by but not excessively... Ariana was outstanding, I will say that. Took my husband there for his birthday dinner and he was good- he's pretty easy to please. As for my experience though.... Not interested in going back. Gone here twice and each time our parties have been pretty satisfied. Dishes will run you at least $25 a person but I think it's worth it as you'll certainly be getting something good. I had the short ribs during my first visit and those were delicious. I thought the meat was a tad on the rougher side but the sauce truly brought it to life. The second time I went I got the pork schnitzel. The pork was tender and, again, the sauce was the true showstopper. Both of these dishes were served with their mashed potatoes and veggies which were both average. My husband got the jenga ribs both times and swears by them. Overall, it's definitely a tasty treat. It might seem a little pricey but it's actually aligned with more restaurants in the area. Service was friendly and present. The venue is nice and feels nice. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Reservations are recommended. read more

Both perfect service and excellent food. we all had different dishes, and they were all absolutely excellent. definitely got to try the chocolate cake! We were staying at this property and so on our second night we decided to try it for dinner. The food is good. My wife had the filet mignon medallions and I had the ribeye steak. Both very good. We both had the sauteed green beans mixed with sliced almonds and the mashed potatoes. I liked the green beans but the potatoes could have been softer for me. They have nice outdoor seating. Our server was so-so. Not particularly friendly or helpful or attentive. For a meal for two that cost over $100 we thought the service should be better. read more

Dinner at Saddleback Grill was great!! The restaurant itself has a nice lodge style decor with a full service bar as you enter the restaurant. The hostess was very friendly and immediately sat us, giving us a choice of a table or booth. Our server Jason was also very friendly and helped us to decide on what to choose for dinner. I took his suggestion on the Lobster Escargot, it was delicious! I also ordered a side of mashed potatoes that went well with the Lobster dipping sauce. My friend had the Chef's 1st Blue Ribbon, which was also good. The curry sauce had good flavor, the shrimp was cooked well, the scallops a tad overcooked. Overall, we had a very nice dinner and enjoyed ourselves. Parking is accessible to the restaurant, however it does get full quick. read more

Saddleback Grill in Lake Arrowhead is the fine dining cabin experience. For all those seeking a nice dinner with a bottle of wine this is the place for you. While we are staying at Lake Arrowhead Resort & Spa we decided to yelp out and scout out a nice dining area. Saddleback Grill is only a 10 minute nice walk from the resort so it was perfect. Our server Jason was phenomenal, engaged and open about his experiences growing up in Lake Arrowhead. He was quick with the jokes which made our experience even better. Since we were celebrating our 4 year anniversary together this weekend he paid for our dessert, which was super nice of him! For our appetizer we had the puffy flavorful and flakey chicken pot pie that was served fresh, hot and was one of the most delicious chicken pot pies I've ever had. I'd definitely order that again without a blink of an eye. Good enough for two I'd say. We ordered and split the filet mignon that came with mash potatoes, cream spinach and carrots. The steak was tender, full of flavor and melted in your mouth with each bite. We also had a bottle of Pinot Noir that was $43 on their menu which wasn't too bad but paired well with our feast. For our dessert that was complimentary from our server Jason we had bread pudding. The bread pudding was moist and delicious especially from the center and bottom part which was my favorite! Overall, this is a must dine in experience if you visit Lake Arrowhead! Absolutely delicious and the wine and dine experience is top notch. Super close to The Lake Arrowhead Village! We went back to Diane's for Thanksgiving dinner. We ordered the ham and turkey combo (with mashed potatoes, stuffing, green beans, cranberry sauce, gravy over everything and pumpkin pie for dessert. Super cute place with an amazing bartender who was friendly and knowledgeable. Happy hour was a huge hit! Things went rapidly downhill once we moved to the dining room - fake, dusty flowers, broken window, burnt out light bulb and slowest service EVER!!! Waiter actually left and took a smoke break while we were waiting for our food. Any time we tried to get his attention we were completely ignored. It was so good we tried to go back the next night to eat there again... but it was too busy. Let's talk food. Chicken pot pie is something I cannot explain, it was amazing and since I had it everything is compared to it and nothing is as good, the ranch dressing was so good too. Every single person In Our group raves about their meals, the lobster app they state was out of this world too, and the bread pudding?? My goodness mouth watering. I live here in Lake Arrowhead and I come to Diane's Saddleback Inn for dinner sometimes even though there are some issues because choices up here are limited. The food is ok and I understand them being out of certain items, especially lately, but the service is sadly sometimes less than basic. Disconnect from their prices which are some of the highest up here. I shouldn't have had to ask her to wipe off a bunch of liquid on bar top...even then she never wiped it up. A waiter set a bunch of crap of his on the bar in front of me and left it there too...jerk. Bartender also didn't have time to ask if I wanted another glass of wine...my glass was empty for a long time. She doesn't need training...she needs a bar back to assist her when it is this busy. Anyway, if you can get it in, Stone Creek Bistro and the Grill at Antlers Inn are much better food AND service. read more

We were staying just up the hill. We walked in on a Sunday night and had no trouble getting a table for 5. We ordered salads- they were huge! Easily entree size- a pasta dish, seafood, ribs, duck, a surf and turf special apps and cocktails. Everything was excellent. The wine is either very inexpensive and just ok (mcmanis, Rodney strong) or very expensive and excellent (silver oak, opus one) there's nothing in between- i wish there was a middle of the road option. The place has a great lodgey feel- super cozy, especially on a winter night. Prices are very reasonable. read more

When it was time to pay the bill we had a gift certificate and the bill was split in 2 - but the certificate was not deducted and it took 30 minutes to get it fixed and they screwed up and charged both bills to the other person and none to me I just Venmo'd him. Hopefully not messed up next time. They do have some tasty sounding menu items we want to try. read more
