We went for lunch Wednesday. Walking in we saw a limited menu board, and a sullen employee behind the counter. Since I already knew what I wanted and had been thinking about it all morning, I told him I would like the brisket baker. He didn't even acknowledge he'd heard me, just turned his back and talked to a young boy, also behind the counter. Came back and informed me it would be 45 minutes before I could get a baker. I was very surprised because the place was empty, and it was 12:45. We almost left, and in hindsight should have! We ordered 2 plates, but were confused about the sides available. Again without a word the guy points up and to his left, where we see an informative board, which he should have pointed out to us initially. Once we ordered and sat down I noticed he wasn't wearing a mask; that coupled with his greasy hair and disheveled appearance, was very disturbing! Once we got our food we found everything to be cold... meat, sides, and bread, all cold. The only thing warm were the onion strings because they had just come out of the fryer. We watched a couple of other people get the same treatment we got, and left or came right back when they realized there were no napkins, bbq sauce, etc. in their "to go" bags. We've been to other Dickey's restaurants and enjoyed them, but will NEVER return to the Lathrop location again. We had the 3 meat combo take out they looked like they were about to close. The two African American women that were working were really nice and friendly. They actually gave us two extra sides as one woman had put them under the meat plate and the other woman put two sides on top. I didn't know until I got home and emptied the bag. The meat was good but the green beans were cooked with TOO much pepper. My only complaint is that the women both had a lot of hair and although it was up they weren't wearing hair nets. And who knows if some of their hair could get in the food. The sweet tea also wasn't as good as I've had in the past. read more

I had ordered the 3 meat plate for my first time trying Dickey's. First off, small portions y'all! So that made me sad right off the bat. The chicken was fine but not interesting enough to tempt me again. The pulled pork had a great texture but I'm used to pulled pork coming mixed with sauce already which this wasn't. Brisket was tender, mostly all fat, and bland! Came with a bland useless piece of bread that I didn't choose to eat, even though I was hungry. Pissed off! Went in to get takeout on Friday night at 7:50pm. Upon going into the store the staff was cleaning and said "sorry but we are cleaning up already". I said it's not even 8 o'clock yet. Ordered brisket Mac stack and paid xtra for jalapeños which they did not even add. Also ordered a sausage classic sandwich with jalapeño cheddar keilbasa I got Mac and cheese and waffle fries on the side. They literally forgot both sides so my boyfriend had to go back for it. As a true food connoisseur I have to say that this place is not to be overlooked. The other day I had the pleasure of coming by such an establishment and decided to try something new. As you walk in the warm welcome from the lovely hosts along with the gentle enthusiasm of the waiters taking your orders to the most minute detail was quite whelming. Had a momentary feeling of chalantness when the food arrived (as I only ordered a few sides): Mac and cheese, beans, and lastly potato salad. Turns out the beans had pig in but was no issue as they substituted that for the potato salad instead. The macaroni and cheese was delightfully creamy and the potato salad was surprisingly well made. As someone who's not too big a fan of potato salad this means something quite epic indeed. The addition of the various BBQ sauces made for an interesting midday meal and I assure you I will be coming back. You've earned this customer! read more

Almost every time we go they are out of at least one usually more meat choices that they offer. And at times out of sides as well. It's very frustrating especially when you go at 6pm and they are out of food. It's too expensive for the amount of food you get. Most of the sides are heated in plastic bags. The kids that work there are more interested in playing on their phones and playing around than actually working. I think we may be looking for another BBQ place. Rude manager. Terrible service. I ordered on the app and when I arrived the manager asked me if I was picking up and I said yes. He then didn't believe that I was picking up the order even after showing him my order receipt on the app. He then said that they didn't have the order and then he looked down at the order that was in front of him the whole time and said oh it's right here. Then he said that they were waiting on my baked potato and it would be about 6-8 minutes longer. I asked him if I can grab my drinks that are already filled and refill them when my order was ready so that I can have fresh drinks with my food. He then started arguing with me about how I'm giving him a hard time and I'm being ridiculous and so on. I told him "look I'm being nice about it and I just want to have fresh drinks and you're giving me a hard time for no reason" he just grabbed to empty cups and handed them to me. When my worker was ready and said "man your order is ready go get your drinks" and i said i wanted my food first and he once again argued with me and kept telling me to go get my drinks. Ive come to this dickeys a lot of times and never have received this terrible service like today. I ended up getting my order 20 minutes after it was supposed to be ready. Such a disappointment. I placed an order when I receive my order it was hot the food was good but I was missing my barbecue ribs, my green beings, my pickles and onions. Up on calling the restaurant I was informed that I would have to call door dash and have them pick up the corrected order. All companies that work with door dash have a person that they call if something is not correct and needs to be corrected. It should not be up to the customer to call and correct the companies mistake when I calling DoorDash I did indeed learn Dickey's barbecue has a specific person at DoorDash that they are supposed to reach out to. They did refund my money which was great but I wish they would have taken the initiative to send the missing parts of my meal. Customer service is really a big deal to me so on that note I will no longer be a customer. read more

Don't get me wrong, the food is good, really good. But I work 15 to 20 minutes from this place and have a very limited lunch time window. We order online which makes it convenient. Or it should. Unfortunately they almost always forget something. No tanglers for the smokehouse salad is the most common oversight. I've come to expect to need to remind them. Today they forget a side salad and any dressing. I call and the girl on the phone pauses and says oh.... well did you want to come back for them? Uh... hello they're paid for right? Well lets start from when we first walked in the door. Most restaurants have a blower over the front door to keep flies out, not Dickeys. The flies were annoying me and the other three people in line. The restaurant is a hot box, no A/C no ceiling fans The food production line is unorganized, while waiting in line a lady became upset because her order was incorrect, But they made it right. The food prep area is too small and employees are bumping into each other. Now lets talk about the food they only have pork ribbs, no beef ribbs. The ribbs were heavily rubbed with paprika and lots of salt,(Not good). A minimal amount of BBQ sauce is brushed on your ribbs at the cash register, I don't know if this is to save money or what. Other BBQ restaurants have it available to you on the table or at the counter. Our side dishes were the BBQ beans and Mac and cheese. The beans were bland, no seasoning. The Mac and cheese, well lets just say Kraft Mac and cheese is much better ( no disrespect to Kraft). But the only two things I guess you can say keeps people coming is the free ice cream cones and drinks, tea and soda. To wrap this review up I guess I would say Dickeys is a pricey fast food BBQ restaurant that doesn't move so fast. I would pass on this place and go to Famous Dave's or Texas Roadhouse. read more

I had order to go. Pulled pork was very tender but very bland. I was told the ribs were the last for the evening. They put 2 ribs in the dinner and they were so Dried up and mostly bone. They should never serve this jerky to anyone. The beans were ok but very hot. The cole slaw looked very delicious but turned out to be just ok. The mashed potatoes were ok. They put a little cheese and green onions on them and call them something grand. The dinner rolls were ok. The 2 BBQ sauces were just average. Overall the two dinners cost about $26. Each came with two sides so we tried the potato casserole, cole slaw, green beans and onion twisters. The onions were fried to order so I had to wait about 2 minutes. Choice of three sauces around corner past cash register with small containers to put them in. Overall good food. Prices are a bit high for a order and sit or go restaurant. They must have a shortage on potatoes! Never fails "We only have 1 potato" are you rationing them. I guess only 1 potato per house hold. I live down the street but will be taking my money to the Manteca dickies! I have given this location try after try thinking maybe it will get better. Wish i had read the reviews before going. I received a flyer in the mail buy one sandwich or plate and get the second one free. Must have missed even smaller print to be stuck with two giant yellow plastic cups with the restaurants name on it to obtain the 2 for one-*cups were five bucks. I didnt want or need them so the deal is no deal an additional $5 charged onto the two for one making it very pricey. Not sure its even bbq meat, the chicken breasts were pulled from a plastic wrap with what tasted liked fake smoke flavor added. To top it off the manager was very rude bringing to my attention i should have read the coupon better.The food was mediocre at best would not go again. Yelp reviews hit right on.
