Went here tonight for dinner at 6:30pm. Place was nearly empty. We were the only customers at the time. There was two employees. We ordered beef brisket, pulled pork, Mac and cheese, fried okra, and chips. They asked for a tip when I ordered the food, so I tipped the workers. Went to sit down, all tables were dirty. I had to clean and wipe down my own table with napkins and water from the soda fountain. Food was terrible, and we threw most of it away. Both the brisket and and pulled pork was a lot of skin and fat, fried okra was overly salted and not the crispy, Mac and cheese was not that impressive. THIS IS NOT A FOOD REVIEW. Strictly customer service. My brother placed an order online for pickup, for around $55.00 worth for the family, and when he realized he was charged for two kids meals when he should have only been charged for one, he called the location. An employee told us it was no problem, that we could just get refunded at the location for the kids meal, GREAT! No issue. On Sunday's, kids eat free, and the allotted amount is for ONE kids meal, per the website. When we arrived at the location, the shift manager (I'm assuming) said there was no way to process the refund and also claimed the coupon was only good for dine in. NOT TRUE. The website DOES state that the coupon is only good for one meal, but does NOT state it's for dine in only. I attached the photo. After arguing that point, the shift manager then again shifted to the fact he couldn't be refunded in store because it was already processed. We asked for a gift card (AFTER SHOWING HIM THE WEBSITE) with the amount for the kids meal, so we could still spend it at this location and he wouldn't. At this point we asked him to call the manager, and guess what! Manager approved a cash refund. As we were gathering our drinks, I asked the same shift manager if I could have a drink carrier, and he said they didn't have any. Literally minutes later my brother asked a young lady cashier if we could have a drink carrier, and she gave us one. They literally had a stack below the counter. I run social media and marketing for 13 restaurants, and today I'm on the other end of a review that I'd rather not make, all of which could have been avoided if there was a little bit of patience. They have nice pictures and partial "wooden" looking walls. Hanging wagon wheels make for really cool light fixtures. Marble wood storage makes the whole area look very classy too. There are a couple fans to assist the A/C. Climate was comfortable- neither hot nor cold. There are medal chairs and cushioned ones in the back. The bathroom was boring and could have been cleaner but was acceptable. The food was very delightful and perfectly prepared for my liking. Lots of flavor in the meat, not undercooked or overcooked. The bbq sauces (sweet, spicy and regular) were really good as well. The buns were very soft yet thick, just the way I like them. The soft drinks tasted good too. The cups they give you are reusable and for you to keep. They are yellow and advertise Dickey's bbq pit well. There are fresh onions and lemonade available. They cater, just call 866-BARBECUE or talk to the local manager. I enjoyed my experience, would come again and definitely recommend. Enjoy if you please. Free ice cream is too "cool". Ha! The worst barbecued ribs I have every had. They were overdone I ended throwing away about a third of them. My wife had the brisket and it was so fatty she left over half of it. The Cole slaw had so much mayonnaise that it did t even taste like coleslaw. The beans were totally flavorless. And the free ice cream was so soft, it dripped off of the cone. My son got the pulled pork sandwich and really liked it, and he got a healthy portion! I didn't think the side salad was going to amount to much (it comes in a small cup and your only choice of dressing is Caesar), but it really worked. Just the right amount. COVID19 Risk Warning. 28 June 2020. When you are doing your personal risk assessment as to "will I likely catch COVID19 from eating at this place?", you might want to cross this Dickey's off your Dine-In list. We have went here twice since Dine-In was reopened in the state. The 1st time the employees we're wearing no masks and the condiment table and ice cream machine were a self service free for all. We ate there but did not feel comfortable. We tried to go there again today after the new, tighter mask wearing requirements went into effect. This place? Nope. Only 1 out of 4 employees was wearing a mask. The folks preparing your food were not wearing masks. Food service being what it is, there is no way that the employees can maintain 6' between each other as they go about their shift duties. We wrote a complaint to the owner and got back the most patronizing reply. He was not requiring his employees to use masks. I am not saying that anything here that is against code, but these folks are WAY behind Industry Best Practices for food service around town. And they do not give a sh1^t. Meh. If you really want barbecue and live in the area, this is fine. But there are better barbecue spots in town, and I'd rather drive a little for better food. As far as big chains, I think Famous Dave's is much better. I cannot comment on the service or atmosphere, because I've only gotten delivery. And I never got a chance to visit pre-COVID. I gave the food a fair shake and tried a few things. Pulled pork and chopped brisket are okay. Jalapeño-cheddar sausage has a good flavor and kick. Most sides are meh. Mac 'n' cheese was very bland, as were the barbecue beans. Coleslaw is alright, and the mashed potato casserole (loaded mashed potatoes) was decent. Cornbread is an upcharge, a bit on the sweet side with some hard and chewy corn kernels in it. Dinner roll comes with most meals and is alright. I've tried the regular and spicy sauces. Again, not much to write home about. I did get a combo meal that came with two meats, two sides, the roll, and a drink and it was relatively affordable so I'll give them that, but not much good I can say about the food. read more
