Went here for lunch while on a work trip on a recommendation from a work colleague! My favorite part was the six sauces that they made available - I loved the salsa verde and roasted garlic beet crema. We got the chips and guacamole, which was a combination of plantain chips and tortilla chips. For my entree I got the California burrito (so good!) and the braised pineapple port taco. The atmosphere was very hip and trendy and they had great service during lunch time. I would definitely come back here for a drink! read more

First time here, the service was great. Our server was excellent. I ordered the mangonada, which i didn't care for at all. My partner had prickly pear which he liked. The food was excellent and tasty. I liked my charred skirt steak and the taquitos. The chips and salsa was great. My partner loved his tacos. Diego Pops was recommended by a friend. I was excited to try it. We arrived and immediately seated. They had the cutest decor with an old fashioned stovetop as the hostess stand. They had the drink menu clipped to a license plate. We arrived during happy hour so took advantage of the prices to try things out of the norm. I ordered the classic margarita. It was good and refreshing. The dip trio was very good : corn queso, guacamole and salsa with tortilla and plantain chips. Corn queso was amazing but nothing I would have gotten normally. I really enjoyed it. It was so hard to choose between tacos and bowls but we all opted for bowls. I got the grilled shrimp bowl. They had fresh Serrano which I added cuz I like it spicy. I added the green salsa to the bowl. We also ordered the Brussels nachos. I'm not a fan of Brussels but tried them anyway. Definitely recommend this place. I will prob get the tacos but since we were staying at a resort and needed to reheat our food, I felt it was best to get a bowl. The tacos come with different options that I would like to try. Ridiculously small portions of beans and rice -- when I pay EXTRA for beans and rice with my tacos, I expect them to not be so small-portioned that they come in SAUCE CUPS... very disappointing. However, the fish tacos were good. Our server only came by about 1-2 times for our entire meal, which was not good. I will not be coming back here. read more

Still love DIego Pops! This time though I had a chance to check out their late night menu (reverse happy hour ) and it did not disappoint! After a work event, my colleagues and I were in the area and with little to no convincing, we decided on Diego Pops. The four of us were seated promptly and our server was on top of it from the get go. We went family style - the best way - and of course got the brussel nachos, personal MUST, aguachile ceviche, a side of guac and while everyone else got the crispy fish tacos (delicious), I opted for the late night crunch wrap- say less! At 8 dollars, HOW COULD I NOT?! It truly hit the mark and if I found myself out past nine more frequently, I would definitely be going here. Aguachile was good, had a nice kick, but not a stand out for me personally. The guac was also good, but a little boring for what I would expect from Diego Pops. Everything else was great, and consistently is. I also always appreciate the sauce caddy and the great line up from more classic salsa's, to twists like their beet garlic crema. Service was great, food came out quick, food was delicious as always and we enjoyed the fun aesthetic as usual. No notes! read more

A girlfriend brought me to Diego Pops July 1. It was my first time and I had such a wonderful experience. It is no wonder friends who live in the area are regulars at this place. I love the food even the happy hour munchies. The bar is super friendly and the servers are awesome. I highly recommend this place if you have a craving for tacos on a Monday, come to this Diego Pops. It is the best in the area for a Monday. Whenever I venture to Arizona, Diego Pop's is always a MUST. Friendly staff and the coolest ambience with inside/outside seating. It has been over a month since I went to Diego Pops and I STILL think about the street corn queso! This is a must get and will keep me coming back on its own! The Paloma margarita is refreshing and easy to drink. On top of the delicious drinks they have the option to order a pitcher, which was perfect for 2. Googled best tacos in Old Scottsdale and this place came up and now I know why! Arrived around 2pm and was able to be seated inside or outside. Our server was amazing, she offered suggestions and let us know about happy hour specials if we wanted to wait a little bit order. This place deserves 0 stars for service. Came in tonight excited for food and we waited 30 minutes to even be asked for drinks. After we got them it was another 30 minutes before we had to inform the immature young "manager" that we wanted a different waitress. He comes back dumbfounded with the same waitress and we informed them again we wanted another waitress that would actually serve us. Instead of the "manager" apologizing and helping us out further we sat again with empty water glasses and no food for 20 minutes before leaving because we weren't getting any service. They need to hire people who actually want to work and promote mature adults ready for the job of management. Very very disappointing and disgusted with their management choices. Needs a lot of work and assistance. Worst experience ever I would be so ashamed to work at or own this hell hole. read more

Service was absolutely awful. The restaurant wasn't even busy and we sat for over 15 minutes before anyone bothered to acknowledge us. Once we finally got served, our waitress disappeared for ages at a time. We sat surrounded by empty plates with no water and no help while staff seemed completely uninterested in doing their jobs. We even asked for a different server, were told yes, and then were ignored again for another 30 minutes. It was unbelievable considering how empty the place was. To make matters worse, the manager did absolutely nothing to fix the situation and looked like he had just finished middle school. After wasting enough of our evening, we left and went to Barrio Queen, where we were treated like actual customers and had a great time. Save yourself the frustration and spend your money elsewhere. read more

Has such a cute vibe with music and high energy. We came in tonight and it was super slow due to the monsoon weather. I visited Diego Pops with a group 12 on a Monday. Luckily it was $3 taco Monday all night. We were also there during happy hour. We got there around 4:30 and were very lucky to get a table. The hostess sat us quietly and they were then getting us drinks quickly. They move everything quickly because I think they like to move tables but we enjoyed the Margs and the food. Everyone left happy and I'm sure they would return. The only thing that was annoying is that they would only do one check per table. read more

Came here after shopping, searched this place that was near by and decided to give it a try. We got a seat right away and the server was quick with our order. She was also super friendly and very helpful. I ordered a few things. I got the chicken bowl, with cilantro rice and beans and my son got the quesadilla with chicken and my husband got the big burrito. Every thing we got tasted fantastic. The chicken and rice was really good. I'm not a big rice person but it was delicious. The churros for dessert was amazing as well. I ordered the margarita and it was the perfect amount of tequila and lime. We also came during happy hour, so a lot of things was half off. There are foods and drinks, certain ones that are part of the happy hour. The place itself was really cute. The decor of everything was cute and my favorite was the pink. I'd say this is a good spot for a big group dinner - they provide a set menu with drink, apps, and dessert that they just bring out that makes it super easy! The chips and Guac were good and I liked they had plantain chips as well. Also loved the hot sauce basket. Right when I walked in, I thought Diego Pops was so aesthetic! Which made sense why we saw multiple bridal parties in the restaurant! We came on a Saturday night without a reservation and waited about 20 minutes which wasn't bad! I ordered the chips and guac as well as two tacos (crispy shrimp and steak). My favorite taco was the steak but both were delicious! I also loved how the chips and guac came with two kinds of chips; your normal tortilla and then plantain chips as well. So good! The hack is to go Monday between 3-6 pm. Tacos on Monday are $3 each and then they have Happy Hour. Their Diego margarita is $6 and all apps are half price! This deal can't be beat. We decided to try here based on that alone. The food was amazing! Some of the best guacamole I have ever had. The pork and pineapple taco can't be beat. The chicken tortilla soup was also great. The way I LOVE this place. I have not been since 2019 and I have been dreaming of street corn queso for years. I got my usual and asked for a mangonada. The waitress recommended something frozen that I can't remember the name of that was delicious. I brought a friend and now he is also a believer . Diego Pops is a lively, high-energy place. It's very popular, so it's a bit noisy, especially with the house music. Though, this energy makes you want to laugh, enjoy, and drink!!! Patio and inside seating available. Most people were sitting outside. I chose inside to relax in the ac. The decor is vibrant with a mix of colored lights and upbeat house music. Katie was our server. She was adorable, bubbly, and friendly (5/5). I asked her any other places she'd recommend for a Sonoran Dog other than this restaurant. She said, "Honestly, I'd never heard of a Sonoran Dog before working here." I like her honesty. LOL. Brussels Sprout Nachos: Street corn queso, queso oaxaca, fresno chili, pickled onion, roasted garlic beet crema, fried egg (4/5). Usually, it's some kind of meat on Nachos. Brussel Sprouts??? This works. Though, I wish they were deep-fried or more blistered to be tender. It worked with this dish. Taco (Al Pastor): spit roasted achiote pork shoulder, grilled pineapple, red onion, cilantro, corn tortilla (4/5). The meat was flavorful and juicy. Tiny chunks of pineapple gave a nice sweetness to each bite. Taco (Charred Skirt Steak): red onion, caramelized onion, cilantro (3/5). Classic, simple, and beefy. Sonoran Hot Dog: Bacon-wrapped all-beef hot dog, pinto beans, grilled onion, mayo, avocado crema, cotija, brioche bun (4/5). What's all this talk about a hot dog? It's just a hotdog, right? Wrong. First bite, and it is a flavor explosion. Creaminess from the pinto beans, mayo, and avocado crema. Texture from the grilled onions. Savory from the cotija cheese and bacon wrapped hotdog. Now I realize that the 2026 was a Summer Olympics and Curling is part of the Winter Olympics, but we didn't care Upon entry to go to the host stand and tell them what you're looking to do (activities vs bar/waiting). The space is relatively open and you can immediately see the fully stocked bar, the bowling area, the back axe throwing lanes, and the enclosed curling lanes. We opted for a package that got us unlimited games (any) for an hour. We started with curling and we didn't need any special clothes or shoes. We were lead to a lane and it's set up like shuffleboard (you can stand on either side and there's two separate color stones). There's ice where you glide your stones and you stand on rubber for traction. You can glide by hand or use a piece of equipment that is essentially a stick to help push and guide your stone. There's an attendant on duty to help any stones that are stuck or that don't make it down the lane The experience was awesome. We've always wanted to try curling, but it's difficult to find somewhere that is set up to let you do that. We were amazed that we finally tried it in a desert of all places. There are no brushes like in typical curling, but you still get a sense of the Olympic activity. The bowling was fun too, but it's a smaller version like you might see in some novelty bars. Axe throwing was that of typical ax throwing. You had a couple different sizes of axes, there's lanes and you throw at a wooden target. They had computers to input your name and keep track of points. It was sometimes difficult to stick the wooden target, but it was fun We didn't try the food or drink, but everything looked good. The staff were very helpful. It was a weekend, and it wasn't overly crowded which was nice. He kindly alerted them and they adjusted his bill. My second visit the next day wasn't any better. Went in with 2 coworkers for $1 oysters and Happy Hour. We ordered some cocktails which took forever again, and when we asked about them, we were told they didn't have the blended margaritas ready, so she offered us on the rocks instead. We said okay since we were thirsty on a Thursday. We tasted each other's drink and they tasted exactly the same, even though we ordered different ones. I also ordered a 2nd round of 6 oysters for myself which I never got. I had to let our server know that I never got them, so she took them off the bill. Our server wasn't very friendly and she just looked like she wanted to leave. My 3rd and latest visit is when I had the Tomahawk. My friend and I started off with oysters, then ordered their huge Tomahawk, which came with a variety of sauces and a side of French Fries. This time, we came in a little later, around 730 pm or so. It wasn't as busy, so maybe that's the perfect time to go. Service was great that last time, and our drinks were perfect. Overall, it's a cool place and the decor is pretty gnarly, but I feel like they do need to work out some kinks. Prices are average but Happy Hour is where it's at. The Tomahawk special is $99 on Mondays and Tuesdays I believe, and they come with 2 large sides (we went on a Thursday so we didn't get that special). The last visit brought up my 3 stars to a 4. I'll come again, but I hope they stay consistent!

The not so good...We sat at the outdoor bar yesterday afternoon. The service was not impressive to say the least. Our drinks took awhile and weren't anything special. The bartender seemed overwhelmed and stressed out so we took into consideration that she might be busy or new or whatever the case might have been. We were trying to get our check for a good amount of time and started to get uneasy. The better--Thankfully the 2nd shift bartender (wish we got her name) came in and convinced us to stay and have one more drink. I loved Diego Pops but tonight will be the last time there. I placed a to go order at 6:06 (1 breakfast burrito, 2 quesadillas and a side of rice) They told me it would be 10-15 minutes. I arrived at 6:15 and while waiting in line saw a to go order come our and given to another person waiting. At 6:44 the girl came back with the order saying it wasn't hers. Another to go order came out and the hostess realized she switched them. She then tried to give me my order which has left the restaurant for 20 minutes. I asked her if she was trying to give me food that left the property, her reply was. "Well I just gave it to her." I was at awe and asked her to remake the food. She told her manager and they remade the food. 6:50 someone came out with the food and gave it to me. Being an honest person that I am, I wanted to make sure that they knew I didn't pay for it. They charged me full price after waiting almost an hour for food. I should have just walked out. The food was cold which makes me believe they didn't remake it. I don't even want to take a risk eating. When I talked to the manager she said the hostess was new and working with her. Not ever really an apology. Diego Pops is a must-visit in Old Town Scottsdale! While parking can be a bit tricky, the lively atmosphere and inviting décor make up for it. We sat inside, where the service was fantastic--our server was attentive, and everything came out quickly. We started with the Brussels sprout nachos, grilled street corn, and fried plantains. Food: I had the chance to try a few of their items. Started off with the chips & salsa & guacamole - simply stated, they were all awesome. The chips were the perfect level of crunchy. The salsa was slightly spicy, which is my preference, so I appreciated that! Plus, it had some decent flavor to it which didn't taste like it came out of a bottle. The guac was super yummy as well, with that nice level of chunkiness and spices that makes it stand out! After the appetizers, I enjoyed the Poke - Tuna which is freshly sliced ahi tuna mixed with avocado, jicama & leeks. I had mine served with fresh lettuce wraps which I ate like tacos. They were suuuuper good and healthy! Service: I can easily say I've had better and definitely can say I've had worse. The service really was good but the only issue I had was the attitude of the waiter. I'll assume that she had a bad day before work because she couldn't rid herself of the constant stinky face. The wife and I are in town for spring training and passed by Diego Pops. Looked neat inside so we gave it a shot. Very busy crowded place there was a wait so we decided to grab some of the last few seats at the bar while waiting for a table. The friendly bartender aknowledged us and said she'd be with us shortly. The couple next to us said the pricklypear margarita was good so we ordered a few and got them fairly quick with how busy it was. Highly recommended very tasty (also very manly with the bright pink color) We overheard a few other people yelling at the bartender about how long their food was taking (not her fault) but we stuck with just the drinks. Seemed a little understaffed with the employee to customer ratio maybe they're not used to it being so crowded. As the place got even busier we decided to grab a bite somewhere else knowing the food would probably take awhile but enjoyed our visit and drinks. Luckily, we own a restaurant and are very understanding when it comes to these situations especially when you can tell the staff was doing their best. Diego Pops is a must-visit spot in Scottsdale! Despite the small parking lot, the restaurant offers a charming patio and a lively indoor atmosphere. We made a reservation for six, which I highly recommend, as it was packed for Friday lunch. Since it was cold and rainy, we opted to sit inside, where the friendly and attentive staff took great care of us--our water glasses were never empty! We kicked things off with a round of margaritas and the dips trio. The guacamole was flavorful, but the real surprise was the corn queso--absolutely delicious! For our meals, we each ordered 1-2 tacos, which turned out to be the perfect portion. We couldn't resist a pitcher of prickly pear margaritas, and the sweetness was just right. The food was amazing, but their extremely pretty female manager was a complete psycho! She was so rude to her staff RIGHT in front of us. The servers looked terrified of her and were so submissive around her. She literally barked orders at one of the waitresses right in front of me. When our server came back to give us the check, I told her her manager seemed like a REAL gem. She let the tiniest smile out and literally looked terrified to react. This manager needs to be fired and doesn't deserve to manage at all. You can't treat staff that way and expect to have a successful restaurant. Beautiful day for Margarita in Oldtown Sccottsdale. We went straight to the outside bar for their amazing Margarita, the bar was busy. We did not get any service for while we even postioned ourselves so that Bartender can notice us. But no success, I finally had to get little assertive to get couple of drinks. Bartender was short with us but treating everybody at the bar with frendlier demeanor. We felt that the bartender was treating us unfairly . We were the only none white patrons at the bar. We came to Diego Pops on a Sunday night and put our names on the list around 7PM. They took our number and told us it would be 2 hours, so we decided to get dessert before dinner and make the most of the wait we expected. When we came back to check where our name was on the list after an hour and a half. We walked up and they lost our name on the list. Trying to be positive because it was 8:30 at this point, we asked to order to go and just take it home. They said no because the kitchen was backed up. Tastes really great Plantain tacos : sounded interesting but the combination of Plantains and sweet corn in a taco did not go well. Diego Margarita : I felt it's waste of $7 on this. This is the only place in Scottsdale that has fried plantains on their menu. As a Colombian, that means the world to me. Whether you go on Mondays for cheaper tacos or any other night, the food is amazing and they also have a full bar. Steak tacos, fried plantains and a Dos XX is my go to every time. Parking is a little small so if you're planning on drinking, just Uber there so you don't have to worry about parking. If you do drive, there's a big parking stricture about 1-2 blocks away, so it's not too bad anyways. read more

It was such a cool place to hang out. Fast forward to 15 years later, it's just not the same. Obviously prices went up and that's totally understandable. However, their food just didn't taste how it used to. Salsa was on the bland side, my pollo magnifico was greasy and soggy, it used to be so good, now it's just sad. One thing that did stay the same was the prompt friendly service. Order at the counter, take a seat and they bring you your food. Parking was a little tricky during lunch time, just an fyi. Maybe on my next trip to Scottsdale, I'll give them another shot.

I did not realize this was something not on the menu, but it doesn't seem like a hard thing to make at a Mexican restaurant ??? He replies rudely, "That isn't even something we have on our menu. Do you even know what you want to order?" I was not understanding why he was acting with disrespect, as neither my friend nor I had treated him with any behavior similar to his. He quickly says "I am going to give you guys 10 minutes to figure your order out and get it together." He leaves. We sit down, and I texted my friend what she wanted instead of a chicken quesadilla. He returns a bit later and we try again. She asked for a bean and rice burrito, so that's what I ask for. He slams his hands on the counter, and huffs and puffs about this order, too. He goes "WE DON'T HAVE THAT EITHER!" At this point, I am really upset with how I have been treated. There was not one point where he was patient, kind, or respectful in any category. This is 100% not how you treat patrons. I ask, "Is us being here too much for you? Is our order too difficult? We can leave, if that is the case." He says it is. We leave. I have worked in food since I was 15 years old. I understand the stress and urgency that comes with a restaurant. At no point have I ever made someone feel badly for ordering. That is what your job requires. If taking an order for a bean and rice burrito is so overwhelming, I would heavily consider a different career path. Disrespectful and incredibly unprofessional. 0/5 stars if possible :(
