Diego Pops was recommended by a friend. I was excited to try it. We arrived and immediately seated. They had the cutest decor with an old fashioned stovetop as the hostess stand. They had the drink menu clipped to a license plate. We arrived during happy hour so took advantage of the prices to try things out of the norm. I ordered the classic margarita. It was good and refreshing. The dip trio was very good : corn queso, guacamole and salsa with tortilla and plantain chips. Corn queso was amazing but nothing I would have gotten normally. I really enjoyed it. It was so hard to choose between tacos and bowls but we all opted for bowls. I got the grilled shrimp bowl. They had fresh Serrano which I added cuz I like it spicy. I added the green salsa to the bowl. We also ordered the Brussels nachos. I'm not a fan of Brussels but tried them anyway. Definitely recommend this place. Ridiculously small portions of beans and rice -- when I pay EXTRA for beans and rice with my tacos, I expect them to not be so small-portioned that they come in SAUCE CUPS... very disappointing. After a work event, my colleagues and I were in the area and with little to no convincing, we decided on Diego Pops. The four of us were seated promptly and our server was on top of it from the get go. We went family style - the best way - and of course got the brussel nachos, personal MUST, aguachile ceviche, a side of guac and while everyone else got the crispy fish tacos (delicious), I opted for the late night crunch wrap- say less! At 8 dollars, HOW COULD I NOT?! It truly hit the mark and if I found myself out past nine more frequently, I would definitely be going here. Aguachile was good, had a nice kick, but not a stand out for me personally. The guac was also good, but a little boring for what I would expect from Diego Pops. Everything else was great, and consistently is. I also always appreciate the sauce caddy and the great line up from more classic salsa's, to twists like their beet garlic crema. I visited Diego Pops with a group 12 on a Monday. Luckily it was $3 taco Monday all night. We were also there during happy hour. We got there around 4:30 and were very lucky to get a table. The hostess sat us quietly and they were then getting us drinks quickly. They move everything quickly because I think they like to move tables but we enjoyed the Margs and the food. Okay, it is unfortunate this place doesn't take reservations so beware because it can get very busy on the weekends! And for good reason... this happy hour is by far the best deal. Half off on appetizers, insane. I LOVE their Brussel sprout nachos, which comes out to only $7 for happy hour and it's massive. I mean massive, maybe even too much for two people. Sometimes nachos have too many bare chips, not these nachos! Great amounts of cheese, corn, Brussels, etc etc, topped with a massive egg. Best part is you get a thing of six sauces, and they're all pretty colors! Theres a verde one, a mayo base one, a pink one (great descriptions I know), varying from not spicy to spicy. I got a bowl for the first time, the cod one with brown rice and creamy beans (blended beans with cheese). It was just okay! Definitely needed the extra sauces. Good portion size though. I think it would be better if I didn't mix everything together beforehand. The drinks are also so good, the sangria is tasty and they can modify their margs with vodka! So fresh and tasty.
