I prefer the Boylston St. location over this one due to the preparation and care for the food being served. There is a lot of imbalances with the portions. I.E. my husband getting four small pieces of chicken thigh vs. my half a bowl of chicken. There are also times where the veg isn't cut up enough or cooked through enough so it doesn't make it as pleasant to eat. I attached a picture of a sweet potato that was as big as my fist. I like to eat at Dig Inn, because of the healthier/delicious food. I just wish the quality and consistency with this location was as good as Boylston St. read more

Dig Inn is a great grab and go place. The portions are late enough for 2 meals for me and for a price of 8-12$ you cant go wrong. I got brussel sprouts, male salad, fennel and chicken thigh. All of it was delicious. The service was ok. I had a few questions and my server wasn't very helpful. She seemed New and didn't really know much about the food their. I like the concept of creating your own bowl and all of their dishes are fairly health conscious. read more

The food here is really good. There are plenty of options, all of them fresh. The chicken thigh is great, as are the roasted sweet potatoes and broccoli. Also, the garlic aioli and house made Sriracha are both rad (together, on the chicken, hell yeah sign me up). My only qualm is an experience I had there the other day. They get super busy around lunch (no surprise) and when it's that busy, it gets really loud (again, not unheard of). However, as an already partially deaf individual, this posed some challenges. While I was trying to read the lips of one staff member who was taking my order, I wasn't paying attention to the person next to her, outside of my field of view. By the time I turned to look at her, she seemed almost visibly angry at me for not answering her and snapped at me to pay attention and listen. I was going to eat in the shop, but I ended up being really embarrassed by the whole endevor and decided to take my food back to work with me. I recognize that the lunch rush is very stressful and working in food service can often be very frustrating. I just hope in the future they take a moment to realize not everyone is as abled as everyone else. Again, this is just a one time thing that happened to me, and if you're not hard of hearing, it likely won't happen to you. This location is hands down one of the best local restaurants in the downtown area. The staff are always pleasant and welcoming. I am always greeted by Jalen, Charles, and Cirk with great enthusiasm. Food was ok but not great. The ordering is confusing because the "toppings" are not clearly labeled. I had the quinoa base and chose kale and onions and tofu for topping. It was nicely spiced but way too salty, and I typically like heavy salt. My son had chicken which was good. However, he chose spiced potatoes and green beans for his toppings, and was surprised that both were cold. The potatoes were supposed to be spicy but were bland. The green beans were blanched but uncooked, lightly oiled and that was it--just plain cold green beans. Servers were not rude but also not particularly helpful or friendly. Just a small update. I'm not changing my rating much, but wanted to bring this to the owner's attention, and yours as a warning. I had ordered online, per usual, for a pick up for dinner (I had forgotten my dinner & was pulling a double shift!). I placed my order mid-morning for a 5:30pm pick up to get to my second job by 6:30pm. I provided my number online as required in case of questions or issues with my order. I arrive at the location super hungry and super excited for my dinner. Food isn't ready, so I wait a bit, thinking they're running behind; no big deal. Eventually, I approach the counter to ask for my order. I'm informed that they're out of my choice of protein (tofu) and am offered a substitute. I'm pretty set on having the tofu (it's amazing!), so ask how long it'll take for it to be ready. I'm told that they're out for the day.. So I cancel my order, as there isn't another vegan protein option and scramble to find another dinner option and get to work on time. Not only was I not informed that tofu was out for the day via a phone call or email, but I sat in the empty restaurant for 5 minutes without even being asked or approached for help. I can only assume they employees were aware of a 5:30pm order. At the very least, I was waiting and on my phone, not at all interested in the menu and frantically checking my watch. I can only hope for better customer service the next time I'm in and/or in a bind for lunch or dinner! read more

After recommendations from friends, scrolling through foodie photos of this healthy farm to table eatery, and late night hunger pangs, we decided to satisfy our need for a second dinner here at Dig Inn. I'll start by saying that we went an hour before closing, therefore the staff was probably less attentive, the food not as fresh, and the welcome not as inviting because it was the end of their work day. I was excited to try this fresh spot before I left Boston, however, my expectations fell a bit short. At Dig Inn, you create your own custom bowl by combining one base, two sides ( cold or hot) and one protein however this was not explained well to me, so I ended up choosing only cold sides and had to pay extra for a warm side. The portion was small for the price and the service was a bit sluggish that Saturday evening. I think I would visit Dig Inn again for lunch and try a different customized bowl. I really like the concept of quick, creative, and healthy restaurant options using quality ingredients. read more

Very disappointing. I get dig inn about 3 times a week but usually from back-bay. The portion at the downtown crossing branch is ridiculous. Attached a photo of the bowl at $16 (had mac and cheese on the side as well). So this is a bowl with 2 extra sides in it and thats the portion size I received. This is the second time I've been to this dig inn, and I've been left disappointed yet again. Thought I would give it a second chance but I was let down. The portion sizes at this dig inn is very underwhelming, I paid $16 for my bowl, which I'm used to paying at the Back Bay chain, however the bowls can barely close at that chain store due to the generous portion which I expected to receive after paying that much at the Down Town crossing one. However I received half a spoon full of kale and 3 carrots and got charged $2 extra for these 3 carrots. This specific store will not see me again. read more

I come here 3x a week at least and no matter how friendly I am to them they don't even make eye contact, move at a snails pace, and look like there are one million places in the world they'd rather be. This place is pretty good, but don't have your heart set on specific meats/sides on the weekends because they have a much more limited menu. I got a bowl with farro as my base which was surprisingly tasty. It says it is made with sweet potato but there was hardly any in there (which I appreciated). The grilled chicken is tasty and I absolutely loved the spicy Brussel sprouts. Beware that you may have an array of temperatures if one of your sides is a salad. It's a great lunch spot. Holy moly, I had such a delicious lunch from Dig Inn! I started with greens, added the broccoli three ways w/ sesame crunch, the maple cauliflower with chickpea crumble and topped it with a huge piece of salmon. It was filling and beyond tasty. It came to $16.50 which isn't the cheapest lunch but definitely worth it for the taste and portion alone. I eat here for lunch almost every day and when they recently had renovations and were closed for about a week - I realized just how reliant I am on this delicious spot. The custom bowls let you always get what you want and the food is always fresh and scrumptious. I'm addicted to the cashew kale and roast chicken! The sauces are also perfectly balanced with flavors, the pesto, aioli and hot sauce are favorites. The staff is efficient and friendly and embarrassingly enough know my order by now! I want to start off by saying that I mostly enjoyed the overall experience of Dig Inn. The customers service was good and ambiance was great! The sweet potatoes were by far my favorite part. However, I found fault with their tofu and quinoa. The outside of the tofu was crunchy ( not in a good way) and the middle had absolutely not flavor- maybe marinating it would fix that? Then the quinoa was also crunchy; like under cooked quinoa. The wait was extensive ; I had to wait ten minutes for the empty quinoa base to come out which meant I was in line for fifteen minutes ( a bit excessive for a quick order place). If these points could be fixed I would be more likely to return to Dig Inn because all the flavors are there ( especially with that Basil Pesto) but the prep needs to be better IMO. read more

I am obsessed with Dig Inn! It is the perfect lunch for a busy downtown Boston workday. It's literally a layered bowl of food with tons of really delicious options. They also give you a little container of sauce as the last step , but I almost never use the sauce because all of the dishes already have so much flavor. And you can make it super healthy (greens, kale, roasted veggies, tofu), or not so healthy (rice, Mac and cheese, chicken). The line is always super long between 12 and 1, but it moves really fast so don't get discouraged. So good! The protein bowls are packed with so much flavor. I've never had chicken, kale, quinoa, and broccoli taste so good. Love that I discovered this place. Perfect for lunch at work. Although, it is a bit expensive, and one time my chicken was really really rubbery, but overall I think that this restaurant offers healthy "fast" food that we need more of in Boston. Went on opening day and had a good experience. It's nice to have another healthy option in the area. I got the tofu market bowl. The tofu was nice and crispy on the outside. I got the brown rice as the base and was pleasantly surprised, rice at takeout places can be stodgy and bland but there's had good flavor even without any sauce or dressing added. The broccoli and the red potatoes with green berms were both tasty. Service was fast even with a long line, as the line moved quickly. Will be going back again! read more
