I generally try to avoid writing Yelp reviews for places that are chains because usually there's more than enough reviews of a place for one to get a good sense of a place by perusing a couple of reviews. Also I generally try to go to mom and pop establishments because why pay expensive NY rent to go to a chain you can go to the suburbs or wherever. And of course, the quality at chains tend to be standardized. That being said, Dig is probably my favorite chain restaurant out there. You're not gonna find a cheaper (in price) alternative in terms of roasted veggies with grain and lean meat outside of just making the food yourself. Unlike say Chipotle where a much better alternative is a taco truck. I've gone to this particular Dig around three times or so. All to go. I'm in the area pretty frequently and usually go to this Dig or the Dig in Noho. The space itself is not particularly large but it is Soho where square footage is expensive. It might be one of the smaller Digs in the city. The service is fairly quick and friendly. I don't think I've ever waited too long, granted I tend to go at odd hours. In terms of the sides I've gotten the Mac and Cheese, which is very good. The roasted veggies like sweet potato and broccoli are very good. The chicken is good and not dry at all. I don't think I've ever gotten a bowl from Dig that disappointed. The one thing I haven't tried are the cookies, which look good. I haven't tried them mostly to stick to being healthy, which Dig is a good choice for with their assortment of roasted veggies and lean meats. read more

Popped in here after fighting for my life in the absolute zoo of 18-34 year old women that is Aritzia. I don't wish an Aritzia Soho weekend trip during Christmas time upon my worst enemy ahaha. I staggered out of the zoo at around 2pm and had an internal crisis on whether or not to eat before our dinner at 6:15, as all I had had was a bagel in the morning. "Would a Dig bowl spoil my dinner?" ... "I want to be hungry but not hangry"... "What if I--" It was just at this very moment that I remembered who I was, and that I absolutely needed a meal and would still eat a big dinner because I'm an ANIMAL. When you from where I'm from........... I went with the charred chicken, sweet potatoes, and kale salad with a farro base as it has literally never missed. I have such a soft spot for Dig because it's like a farm to table Chipotle that doesn't leave you completely immobilized for the next 6 hours. It's not one of those fake farm to tables either, you can taste the farminess aaahaha. Reviewing this location specifically because of the 2nd floor where you can sit and eat with a view, I was shocked at how nice the ambiance was for a mf Dig ahahah. I've been a dig inn customer for years and they never cease to satisfy me. I've been to the SoHo location a few times and of course their selections are seasonal. It's great to have a rotating menu. I ordered the kale with dressing ($1.85 add) but worth it and lighter than rice and quinoa. With fried tofu, Marconi and cheese/carrots and added corn bread($3) to try. Everything was delicious, I couldn't save any for later because of how tasty and fresh the ingredients are. The corn bread was slightly spicy sweet and the tofu was firm/crispy, and the macaroni and cheese was savory creamy. The kale was well seasoned and dressed. The carrots are roasted but crunchy for fiber. Service is build your own, the staff will help you with your order. There's two floors and water closet located in the upper back level. There's nice view and more seating upstairs. Slightly small but expected with Ny. Definitely a nice lunch or late dinner spot. Dig inn! read more

First tine at Dig IRL and I seriously wish that we had some locations on the West Coast. I'm a huge fan of their roasted sheet tray carrots and their charred chicken, but you honestly can't go wrong with much of their menu (marinated cannellini beans, roasted sweet potatoes). I love that it's a customizable, fast casual spot where you can build a bowl with the macros you're seeking. The quality is great and the options are plentiful and healthy. Prices are on par with most other fast casual spots which is another bonus. Relative to other fast-casual spots, I'd almost dare to say that Dig ranks at the top because of its consistency and quality. Their generous portions mean that I could easily stretch one order to feed me for two meals as well. I really hope they start expanding to the rest of the US soon! read more

I work near this space and popped by with my coworker who enjoys it. Personally I'm not the biggest fan. My chicken didn't feel cooked through but I did enjoy the Mac and the Brussel sprouts. Ordered a Build Your Own bowl with 1/2 farro 1/2 greens. More like 1/3 farro and 1/4 greens. I was shocked when I lifted the toppings to find barely any base in the bottom. Needless to say, I was hungry hours later. The charred chicken and avocado were fantastic. I wish the sweet potatoes weren't so burnt, but they give you a generous amount. I wish they allowed you more than 2 sauces. The cups are so tiny and barely come close enough to the ideal amount of sauce. read more

I used dig inn for catering a 90 person post wedding celebration in Manhattan, and it was great. They were on time and everything was delicious. I ordered directly from their website. I was a bit frustrated initially that I couldn't just call the catering department. Everything is preferred by email. . But email correspondents Vidal and Cesar responded quickly and answered all my questions. One thing to know is that the excellent and prompt driver will bring all the food (and utensils if you request them) but the food is dropped off only. They do not set up or serve. I really dig this DIG for many reasons: near my job, upstairs/ downstairs dining, friendly service and I love their food. I can't rave enough about farm to table. What's great is, sometimes, I want healthy with a small cheat, or all healthy or protein with healthy ( charred chicken) oh the options are numerous. Today, I wanted healthy with a cheat. So, I ordered on the web for pick up only to dine in. I love that I can customize my bowl. I opted for veggies: sheet tray carrots, Brussel sprouts, farm greens with mint with balsamic dressing and Mac and cheese for my cheat. This location, as with all eateries on Prince Street, is always packed. I trekked upstairs, love the sign that says "Upstairs views" and found a table. I dug into my customized DIG veggie bowl which was yummy but my Mac and cheese wax stone..wicked..cold! Shame on you DIG! I didn't want to go downstairs to fix it and knew I was going to eat only half of my bowl so saved Mac for later. The rest of the veggies were delicious. I also want their ginger lemonade to go back to what it used to be, taste has changed and I am disappointed. The only drawback was their garbage was overflowing; shame on you again DIG. I know some New Yorkers are sloppy but your garbage needs attention every minute. DIG is getting very creative with their sides and now have Thanksgiving bowls and sides a la DIGs- giving. Ordered online for lunch, there's a $5 off for making an account. Prices are okay (under $16) for bowls of healthy flavorful food balanced with protein, veg sides, and grain/salad and sauce choices. I got the steak with spring vegetables and farro. Maybe I waited and the food got a bit cold (an hour after we received the order) but my steak and broccoli was so chewy and tough that it was hard to swallow. Every item especially the juicy umami mushrooms and broccoli were flavorful, but I can't get over the steak. They should serve it a bit more on the rare side (I requested medium rare and got medium well). Garlic aioli helped add more flavor and creaminess. Farro was a bit tough as expected. Overall a healthy meal. Additional sauces are available per meal with no extra charge. Good for changing up flavors. In need of a quick bite in Soho, I knew Dig will fit the bill perfectly. And it sure knew how to welcome me with its delicious home cooked smells! This particular location has two floors, with upstairs being additional seating and the bathroom. I ordered the Brown Rice, Herb Roasted Chicken for my protein, and Sweet Potato and Cauliflower Parmesan for my two sides. I made sure to grab some Garlic Aioli for my sauce. The last time I had Dig, they still had "Inn" in their name, but the bowl still tasted just as scrumptious! Tofu was my fave protein last time I went, but their Herb Roasted Chicken was perfect if you're looking for a good meat option! On the surface, it may look dry but it's actually the complete opposite! You can't go wrong with my delicious sides, although I don't understand the charm in their burntness. (I overheard someone wanting the especially burnt ones!) Although the dish is absolutely flavorful on its own, the Garlic Aioli sauce adds that cherry on top to an enjoyable meal. Placed an order for delivery from Grubhub. Fees and tips and all, it came out to just over $27 for a bowl and a (boxed) water, and I was bummed when it arrived, as I was working and dehydrated, and they forgot to put the water in my huge bag. Can I have my $3 back? Aside from the steep prices as far as delivery is concerned (eating in looks more reasonable), the food itself is of good quality. I ordered an herb roasted chicken market bowl with a base of farmer's greens and mint and sides of the broccoli with lemon and the kale Caesar. (I don't know if I'm getting those names right from memory.) The Caesar was very good (those cashews? yum), as was the chicken. I asked for sriracha on the side and received some kind of sweet chili sauce that was not sriracha but tasted good anyway, so I dipped the chicken in that. The broccoli was okay, but half of it was burnt and not so appetizing. When I finally found the base of other greens (there was not so much of this in the bowl), I did find the minty-ness refreshing. I wish this place was a little more reliable and a little less expensive, because I'd love to have more healthy options in my work lunch rotation. I'm officially sold on DIG! About a month ago, I tried DIG for the first time at their Bleeker St location and I remember thinking, "this place is alright". I had an opportunity to partake again at this location and I can honestly say, I really enjoy the wholesomeness of this food. It looks and tastes so great! Its also great to have that peace of mind that its is sourced sustainably. I had been in the area for a Yelp Elite event at the Museum of Ice Cream, which is right around the corner. It's always been said that you shouldn't have dessert before dinner, so that's where Dig came in lol. It was quite empty when I arrived but it seems they have an upper level, so perhaps that's where everyone was. Either way, I was not bothered. The restaurant was small, but bright. I took a look at the menu and immediately ordered at a counter where someone portioned out my meal. I went for a market bowl containing brown rice, roasted sweet potatoes, lemon and honey brussel sprouts, and charred chicken. I also had a side of garlic aioli and sriracha sauces. I gathered my meal and found a sweet spot to sit by the window. My meal was even better than the first one I had at the Bleeker location. I don't know if it was the cook or perhaps the slight difference in items I chose, but I really enjoyed my meal. The chicken was seasoned well and the texture was juicy and soft. The roasted sweet potatoes were prepared very well in that the inside was soft like a mashed potato and the skin was tender enough to eat without issues. But the real star for me though, was the brown rice. It was moist with a good amount of flavor. Nothing salty or overpowering, but just enough to allow the chicken and other items to cohesively pair. I ate everything without leaving a drop behind. Pricing was no different than the other location I visited. Staff did not interact with me much aside from taking my order, so I'd say service was standard without issues. The establishment also appeared clean and well organized. Overall a great visit.
