I'm going to tread lightly because this place has over 300 reviews and most of them are good. We showed up around 19.45hrs, Wednesday, 8 May 2019. I do not have the time, nor do I possess an adequate vocabulary to accurately describe how incredibly AWFUL this experience was. With utmost sincerity, it was the worst dining experience, literally in my entire life. I am beyond livid over it. The ice-cold raw food, wrapped in wet, stringy dough, fresh out of a pizza oven, the putrid, brownish 'sauce' in a tin cup next to the 'entree'; the ridiculously long wait time. Three aimless wait staff were milling about engaging in every kind of activity, except looking after the customers. Even when I tried to seek out our waitress, to try and gently bring some attention to the pile of crap she just threw down... we found her off in a corner, giggling with the other two. I explained the situation. Another interminable wait ensued. Once again, we had to go FIND this girl after she disappeared with our credit card. Several more delays and she re-emerges with a 20% discount off the totally inedible main dish. It didn't matter. By this point there was absolutely nothing they could do. There is more to the story too, I just won't spend any more time on it; It's now a few hours later and I need to eat dinner at some point. I have to believe this was an unusual experience. Nevertheless, I want to hear from the owner about it. Until I do, this review will stay. read more

The decor is warm and welcoming, with cute booths and a firehouse design. The service was friendly but inattentive and mostly absent. I had to go look for the server twice and despite ordering only one thing, she got my order wrong twice. Finally, the pizza was boring, doughy, and overpriced. read more

We had a wonderful lunch here on our way through Barstow. We always try not to eat at chain restaurants and instead support independent businesses when possible. That's how we found this jewel! Now as I sit here completely disappointed with my veal Parmesan (frozen veal patties with overly sweet tomato sauce) I realize I should have gone with a sub or Pizza. They look amazing. This place was soooo great!! We wanted to stop for pizza somewhere on the way home from Vegas. We randomly stopped here and it was really a wonderful experience. I highly recommend it to anyone if you're in the area. *Pizza was delicious *Bathrooms were very clean *Tables and floors were spotless and not sticky. (My son did what most kids do and started to climb under the table. When I told him to get up because "the floor is disgusting." There actually wasn't even a crumb down there!) *The service was great We will definitely pit stop here again. I love all their salad dressings, made in house. My kids love the spinach ravioli. Veggie pasta is A+. The Garlic bread is tasty. a few vegetarian/vegan options: cheeseless pizzas, stromboli, calzones, pastas with no meat. We were told their dough is vegan. + Yummy food and decent portions. + fun decor, always something to look at. - they're closed on Sunday - upon recent visits my opinion on the service has gone down. A long drive home and we stopped at Del Taco to get a quick bite. My girlfriend saw this place and suggested that we give it a try. Neither of us had ever been there but the sign said it was a "pizza Meca". So we go in and the place looks awesome. Over the top Italian, fun and we thought we hit the jackpot. Maybe this would be a cool place for us to hit on our way back from visiting family in Havasu or Vegas. We ordered some garlic bread to start. Our two year old was getting restless. Pretty bland, dry and tasteless. Whatever, its just garlic bread. We order the meetball sliders, she gets a salad and I got an italian sub with pasta salad for a side. Meeballs were not bad but they werent good. They had zero taste. The Italian sub cam out hot, I should have specified I wanted it cold but thats my fault. The deli cuts were good but the lettuce and tomato were disgusting. The pasta salad was very bland. Like plain pasta with a couple mushy tomatoes. The Salad was slimy and the tomatoes were old and mushy. Thats when we found a hair in one of the meatballs. We had Del Taco for dinner. read more

Since I will be in Barstow for the next three weeks I thought I would try some places close to the hotel that I am staying at, one of them being Dinapoli"s Fire House. The inside of the place is very cool. It is like being in an old fire house. They have TVs in the corners so you can watch games being played. I ordered the Good Fella pizza which comes with cheese, peppers, olives, seasoned ground beef and pepperoni, only I asked for sausage instead of pepperoni. On their menu it says that they have thin crust. I ordered thin crust and that is what I got. They put so much topping of the pizza that I could not see what was underneath. Over all I would have to say it was a pretty good pizza. Better than most places I have eaten at. My companion had the lasagna. It was a very big portion much bigger than Macaroni Grill. The taste was very good, not what I expected for Barstow. If you are going to or returning from Vegas and want Italian food then this place is worth the stop. I'm local, but hadn't been here for over ten years. We were able to do decent Italian at home, and the missus liked cooking it, so there was seldom a reason to go out for it. Stopped in today for a... well, meal. Too late for lunch, too early for dinner: call it what you like. But I needed a bite. Since the missus passed away, cooking for one is a drag. I think I was the only patron in the restaurant when I arried, although several couples and a family came in before I left. I was seated instantly, and immediately provided with water and (after a brief discussion of the wines on order) a glass of pinot grigio. I wasn't ravenous, and didn't want anything too heavy, so I was considering a full salad with perhaps a couple of meatballs on the side. But then I opted for the ravioli with spinach, which came with a side salad. The zuppa del giorno was clam chowder, but neither that nor minestrone sounded good on a warm day. I went with the red Italian salad dressing. I see a negative comment below about that. It's a fairly standard dressing in Italian-American family restaurants all over this fair country. And yes: a principal ingredient is most likely catsup. No complaints. The salad was *cold* as others have mentioned, good produce, especially the tomatoes, and a nice robust scattering of cheese. The ravioli were up to standard. A nice red sauce and a melted slice of (I think) provolone topped them. Personally, I'd prefer just a little more "tooth" in my ravioli (especially if I made them myself). But I suspect that's a hard one for a lot of restaurants to get right, given the preferences of the general population. A lot of Americans seem to prefer their pasta cooked to be more tender than "al dente". Open up a place in Red Hook, with a regular clientele of multi-generation Italian-Americans, and you can go with "al dente" without fear. For the traveling public passing through Barstow, a little more tender is probably OK. Or maybe it was just that plate, today. I don't know. But the ravioli were fine: nice balance of the filling against the sauce; fresh herbs on top. A couple of pieces of garlic bread (as DiNapoli's specifies, toasted bocce bread): also good. Is this authentic Italian regional cuisine? Heck, no; but I'd need to drive at least 150 miles for that. Is it authentic South Brooklyn (as advertised) Italian-American? Weeeelll... it's not too far off the mark, I'd say. I need to come back and try the other pastas and some minimalist pizza to be sure. I enjoyed the meal. Service was prompt and attentive. As I said, it wasn't busy when I arrived, but one server was taking care of at least six booths by the time I left, and it sure looked like everyone was getting the same service that I did. So yes, Sara (my server; delightful lady), I'll be back, and it won't be a ten-year hiatus this time! Postscript: I was reading the Yelp reviews on my phone during the meal. I always have to laugh at some, and discount them. Here's a hint: when the restaurant stops serving at 9 PM, don't be offended when they start cleaning up at 9:30. And I know you're probably local, sweetie: but just being a product of Barstow's pathetic school system doesn't really excuse you from not knowing which form of a personal pronoun to use as the subject of a sentence. I was glad to find Di Napoli Firehouse up the hill overlooking the fast food and chain joints that line the E. Main street I-15 exit. It's not much to look at on the outside and the inside is a bit funky, but the home style Italian food was quite good. We ordered the spaghetti with vegetables. It came with a salad that for me had too much cheese, so next time, I will have it left off or minimized. The house salad dressing was tomato based, and interestingly tasty. The portion of the spaghetti was quite large for the price and contained a generous number for vegetables (carrots, squash, mushrooms, peppers, olives). We would have been better off splitting one order for two, as we could not finish. Two good size slices of garlic bread also accompanied each order. Good tasting, good size portions and good value. Beats the alternatives in the area. Service was just ok. Waiter "didn't think" they had whole-wheat pasta. They should add it cause some of us do prefer the healthier option these days. read more

WHAT, GOOD FOOD IN BARSTOW!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Vegas Bound from SoCal or coming back from Vegas with little or no money! Well, let me assure you that Barstow is blessed with this Italian restaurant right off the 15 freeway. Their food rivals some of the great Italian restaurants in the big city no doubt. The food is always fresh, plentiful and yes....tasty and completely reasonable in price. This is a military town and they keep the prices reasonable so our underpaid soldiers can afford great food in their neighborhood since that's probably their main clientele. The place is big so there's lots of room. I do believe they are closed on Sunday. It's family owned and operated and it shows.... I personally love the calzones and their dinner salad with Mozzarella cheese. My friend swears by the Chicken Wings and she's picky... We usually roll through that restaurant with a big group and I've yet to hear a complaint. read more

The food here is amazing, but their business practices are shady at best. I grew up in an Italian family and this stuff is as close to the real deal as it gets. However, they hand out take out menus that they admit are over three years old with prices that are considerably less than you will be charged. Then, the menu states you can get potato salad or pasta salad. When I tried to get something other than potato salad I was told there are no exchanges and I would be charged more for anything other than potato. The food is fabulous, but their practices leave a sour taste in my mouth. read more

I can look past mediocre service if the food is good (See Lotus of Siam review). However, if I pay for mediocre food and the service sucks--I will make sure I mention it. My family and I were heading home to Vegas and had one chance to stop for dinner in Barstow. After doing research on yelp, we decided to give this place a shot. I never realized how much a host/hostess can make a difference- until last night. Unfortunately, I didn't catch her name. She never introduced herself and was not wearing a name tag. She had dark black hair, and was the one who was too busy putting on lip gloss (instead of paying attention to paying customers). She was not friendly, nor was she in a hurry to do anything. She kept us waiting for a table even though there were plenty available, and left me standing there when I was trying to pay for my check. I almost felt like walking out without paying to prove a point, but my mom raised me better than that. She never asked if we enjoyed our meal, and didn't seem to care about our experience. Lip Gloss sat us in a section of a server who had similar customer service skills. Again, I couldn't tell you who our server was. She didn't mention her name, but she had several tattoos down her arm. I mentioned to the server that it was our first time in the restaurant, and she didn't care at all. Instead of recommending anything, or asking us questions on what we were in the mood for, she stared at us with no emotion. OK then, I guess we'll place an order now . We ordered the garlic bread to start, and it was pretty good. The bread was baked fresh in house, and it was buttery! Best part of the meal -by far. We also ordered the pasta with Italian sauce, and a large Meatball pizza. The pasta came with our choice of soup or salad. We opted for the dinner salad with ranch, and it was inedible. The salad had way too much dressing for a small salad and was put together sloppily. The pasta showed up in similar fashion. We ran out of pasta quickly and were left with a pile of watery flavorless sauce to eat. The meatball pizza was mediocre. The pizza itself was a little soggy and didn't hold up well to lifting it up and eating it. The homemade meatballs were soft, but lacked any flavor at all. Our server never once asked how our food was during dinner. If she cared at all, I would have told her that the food was not very good. She didn't ask us if we wanted dessert, and seemed to be in a hurry to rush us out the door. For a family owned business, this place has a lot of work to do. Customer service was lacking, and the food was slightly better than Pizza Hut. On the bright side, the inside of the restaurant was pretty cool. My three year old son liked the fireman theme, and there were plenty of televisions throughout the restaurant for your viewing pleasure. I wanted to discover that can't miss spot in Barstow. In the smaller town of Barstow, CA, I wasn't expecting much from this little Italian restaurant. But it was great! First, the ambience is quality and fun - great for families or dates. The whole theme is cutely decorated in a "Firehouse" theme with a fire engine to greet you at the entrance. When you walk in, the space is decorated in license plates and fire engine decor on 2 levels with an open space. Our food was good. We absolutely LOVED the Spagatti with Veggies. That may sound ordinary but it was VERY tasty dish - we gobbled it up. It was a fresh tomato sauce flavored pasta with plenty of freshly grilled veggies such as zucchini, mushrooms, broccoli, etc. I was hesitant at first to order the dish in fear the veggies would not meld with the sauce and would make the dish "Raw veggie" tasting. But I was absolutely wrong. The veggies flowed into the sauce. The flavor of the sauce was SO good - natural but also peppered in basil and oregano. Garlic bread that came with the pasta was also good. Tasted homemade. The Dinapoli Special Pizza had great gooey cheese and was also good, but we were pretty stuffed from the pasta. Plus, compared to the pizza we get in our hometown of Chicago, this was more like Palermos frozen pizza - not bad, but not special, if you know what i mean. Except for the gooey cheese. read more

My husband wanted pasta, but I needed to avoid carbs, so we called ahead to see what they had. They said it wasn't on the menu, but they could do grilled chicken and vegetables. I expected plain chicken and standard steamed vegetables, but they made me grilled chicken and vegetables with Italian spices, and it was super delicious. My husband had spaghetti and meatballs, which got his seal of approval. That is saying something, as he compares all spaghetti sauce to his homemade. Boy wonder and I stopped here for dinner on the way home from Vegas, and just loved this place, Our retro server was quirky, funny and attentive, the food was delicious, filling and amazing, and we just loved the atmosphere and decoration. What a fun place to go

My gf who lives in Barstow took me here for valentines day for a late lunch around 2pm. Didn't take but a minute to get us seated. Server was very professional. Interior and decor of the restaurant looks like a classic saloon/western theme with tons of firefighter memorabilia. Assuming the owner is a current or former firefighter. The appetizer I ordered was just a clam chowder soup. Order came in 10 minutes. It was pretty good with no complaints. I would order it again. My main course was a plate of spaghetti with Italian sausage. Order took about 15 minutes. Overall the food servings here are more than generous and have a homestyle feel to it. The sphaghetti was very tasty and came with 4 huge pieces of Italian sausages I had to cut myself but I had no problem with that. Overall this is a good place to eat some authentic Italian food. read more

Had dinner at Dinapoli's Firehouse last night after a serious Yelp review of most of the Barstow restaurants. I noted the positive and negative reviews, decided on Dinapoli's, and hoped for the best. I was quite pleasantly surprised. We were seated immediately. Noting some comments regarding slow service, we ordered drinks and garlic bread as soon as the waitress came to the table. Drinks and bread came right away. The bread was delicious (served with marinara sauce) and the portions large. The caesar salad and tossed house salad were good (not spectacular but certainly good). We had the Godfather pizza, which was also very good. All in all, the establishment is blue collar and a bit dog-eared, but comfortable and comforting. The food was hearty and delicious, the servings ample, the service attentive without being overbearing, and the prices reasonable. Dinapoli's is a winner! read more

This place is amazing. The regular dinner salad was one of the best I've had. The Philly cheese steak sandwich was one of the best I've had. On our return trip through Barstow we stopped there again. The lasagne was absolutely the best. On top of all that, the price was right. The two of us were out the door for $45, and that included the dinner, appetizer, zinfandel for my wife, and the tip. On our way to California last Thursday night we decided to stop in Barstow for dinner. Our first choice was to stop by Lola's Kitchen, but they closed at 7:30. So, we headed to Dinapoli's instead. The interior is kitschy and then some. I don't think I've ever seen so much flair before. The place is filled with just about everything that relates to an Italian eatery and fire house. I do have to say that the booths are cozy. There's plenty of room to stretch out and unwind after a long drive. The lasagna we ordered was a huge brick-sized piece with plenty of cheese and sausage and a delicious sauce. We also got a small specialty pizza. I forgot the name of it, but it had plenty of red and green peppers and sausage. Not bad, but not great either. The crust was a little too thick and doughy for my tastes. The service was decent, but a little awkward. Our waitress was the type of girl who just kind of lingered. Like she wanted to chat but didn't know what to say. She was nice enough, but overstayed her welcome a couple times when checking in on us. If I could give this place "zero" stars, I would. I was there last Friday and ordered a pasta with meat sauce and it was horrible. The pasta came out very cold and flavorless. I had asked numerous times for no cheese. Each time they came back with cheese on it. I am deathly allergic to cheese. I have had to mention it several times. Chef Boyardee makes better stuff in a can than the crap that this place serves. I can't believe the health department has not closed this filthy place down yet. Cold Food. Horrible Service. After staring silently at our menus, I could tell my husband, father, and friend were in the same boat I was: unable to decide on just one entree to order. Dinapoli's menu was loaded with delicious things. My dad eventually said, "The Stromboli looks good." To which we all replied, "Yes. I was looking at that." So we all ordered the Italian Stromboli and we were not disappointed. The Stromboli was about a foot long and loaded with delicious meats and cheeses. The dish also included a cup of marinara sauce to pour over the Stromboli or dip into. So good! Service was great as our server came by frequently to check on us and keep our glasses from empty. She offered salad and desert, but she knew we wouldn't have room after ordering four Strombolis. The decor and atmosphere was great with tons of cool things on the walls to look at. I especially liked the collage of police and fire department patches near the host stand. I was afraid we would be forced to have crappy fast food when we passed through Barstow. On a recent trip of the Southwest, we stopped over in Barstow. We wanted something substantial to eat as this was our main meal of the day - the three Del Tacos in Barstow weren't going to cut it this night. We picked Di Napoli's for the cuisine and it's higher rating on Yelp. Pros: Easy parking, big dining room, and classic "American-Italian" fare is what we got. Servings were HUGE. We barely ate 1/2 of our entrees (and all we had were the included salads prior to being served). Drinks were strong. We were seated in the main dining room, but switched to eat upstairs at a small table near the bar. The kitsch of the place is fun too! Cons: Service was S.L.O.W, but we passed the time watching the dozens of TVs lining the walls of the second floor. I would go back to this place if I were passing through town....just not if I had anywhere to be for a couple of hours. read more

My comrades and I ate here two Saturday nights ago, food was decent and all was well until 9:30pm when an employee started vacuuming next to our table...9:30 on a Sat night and these a-holes were not only closing shop but vacuuming with customers still at tables. Suffice to say, we were pissed and left with still a good review of the food. We returned the following Friday night to find they locked their doors at 8:45..Ridiculous! We vowed never to return and am proud of it. Overall, ok food but it's all too apparent the staff runs the show absent of owners. Sad, much potential in that desert town. read more
