My boyfriend and I celebrated our three-month anniversary at Dio Deka last night. My parents gifted us a $200 gift card they got for their 40th anniversary. Our food was so delicious. My favorites were the pasta and the potatoes. Our server Alicia was very friendly, knowledgeable and kind. She went above and beyond by taking beautiful photos of my boyfriend and I outside the restaurant. They're some of the best photos we ever took together. She made the evening extra special. If I wanted a steak, I'd return. Definitely on the pricy side, my 16oz ribeye was 135$ but it was really good. The sage dressing was a nice touch. They know how to cook a steak so order exactly what you want, it won't be over or under. Only beef, the compound butter was too cold and didn't really melt. Lemon dill potatoes were amazing. Meat ball app was awesome. Service and attendance to us was really great. 3 dip app was pretty good, wasn't a fan of the baba. No hesitation bringing more pita. Long overdue review but better late than never! I took my boyfriend of now 3.5 years to Dio Deka back in 2020 for his birthday dinner request. He loves this place and wanted me to give them my honest review. When we sat down, they gave us a complimentary small bite sized appetizer served on little cute spoons. For our actual appetizers, we ordered lamb meatballs served on top of a white tahini like sauce with roasted tomatoes and a three different hummus platter w/pita bread. The meatballs were so juicy and tender. I was expecting a more chewy texture since it's made of lamb, but it was so fluffy. They paired so well with the white sauce and tomatoes. I ate them with the pita bread and made myself a mini pita lamb sandwich. For our main course, we got the pan seared bass fillet bedded on curry like lentils and herb crusted lamb lollipops. We also got baked Brussels sprouts, foraged truffle mushrooms and fries to go on the side. The bass was so soft but skin nice and crispy just how I like it. Since the fish had light seasoning, it paired really well with the heavy aromatics of the lentils. The lamb lollipops were very tender. The herb crust really gave them a nice seasoned smoky taste so it balanced out the gaminess of the lamb. For dessert, they gave us some complimentary beignets.. mainly because they messed up on the order the first time...but all is forgiven! The main desserts though were the chocolate lava cake soufflé and baklava. Really was a nice finish to our meal after all that salt from our dinner. Dio deka is a great date night spot that I highly recommend if you're in the mood for a fancy Mediterranean cuisine. Service is excellent and Not too overly priced either. I gotta say, I've been here a few times, and its always mixed on the experience. The best experiences I've had are on the weekend though, I will say that, so if you plan to go, go on the weekend. Im putting a 3 stars knowing I'll be back and hopefully have a better experience than the other night. Reason for the 3 stars: 1. Had to ask 3 separate times for more pita bread 2. Tried to flag down a server multiple times as I couldn't find ours 3. Octopus was burnt and a bit rubbery for some pieces 4. Both Octopus plates were missing the sauce, and drizzled in what seemed to be olive oil like i said, half the time i have a great experience, half the time theres something wrong, but i do thoroughly enjoy this restaurant, just wished for more consistency on the good times. read more

I had the branzino which was cooked perfectly and placed over a plate of sautéed greens and served with roasted potatoes. My partner had the lamp chops which were excellent but a little scant on the sides, which meant he was still a little hungry afterwards. My strip steak came out overcooked and they replaced it with a ribeye. Our waiter claimed they were out of strip steaks after I brought it up. It was as if he figured I wouldn't know the difference. The manager said they just messed up and made the wrong steak. He was nice and very apologetic, but it was a weird experience all around. I'm not sure what the hype around this place is about. The food was subpar for the price point. I had the lamb shank and my father had the salmon. I tried his salmon and it was terrible. It tasted extremely fishy and bland. The lamb shank was good but not great. We also ordered the three Greek spreads with pita, which was good and the Spanish octopus was decent. Service was good, although I felt like we had to prompt the server to order and they were constantly flitting around. The baklava was not great--I couldn't finish it. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant and I won't be returning. Steer clear unless you're looking for overpriced, subpar fare. read more

Really wanted to love Dio Deka. Been meaning to try Dio Deka for years. Many of our friends rave about this restaurant. But our experience last night fell short. First, our reservation made 2 weeks ago was for 8:15. Then my wife got a call moving the reservation to 8:30, plus a text confirming the new time. Fine. But when we arrived, the hostess dismissively chided us saying "We were expecting you at 8:15." My wife tried to show her the text and referenced the call but the hostess had no interest. We had to spend 25 min in a timeout at the bar before a table freed up. Dio-DELAYED. Second, I was looking forward to the lamb chop - but they were out of it!!! The table next to us was told the sautéed mixed greens were out too. Dio-DENIED. My wife ordered the branzino and I went for the market fish of the day which was a black cod, which I normally love. The branzino was good but my cod was mushy and under-seasoned. Dio-DISAPPOINTING. The beignets were fine for dessert but even those were more doughy than they were light. Dio-UNDERDONE. Lots of tables around us seemed to be having fun so I'm not opposed to coming back, but we were hoping for a better experience for our special date night. read more

My husband and I got away for the weekend and stayed at the LGH overnight. When I had called the hotel to get information Brooke at the front desk had highly recommended making reservations here with Opentable for an amazing dinner. I took her advice and did so. We were greeted at the host desk by what seemed possibly husband and wife? Might be wrong, but regardless super friendly and kind. Big smiles from both. We were seated outside in a safe social distancing dining area. With that, it was INCREDIBLY BUSY STILL! All staff wore masks, from our server, and the assistances , as well as gloves if I remember correctly. We had Chris as our server and he was great! Very personable, he noticed we used the QR code to view specials that were available. We took the appetizer special of the champagne marinated beet salad that had goat cheese balls with it. This was a delicious and refreshing dish to enjoy on a nice summer evening. For dinner I went with Yelp to see what people were eating and Ribeye was number one on the list so I went with that! It was bigger than my stomach could eat but it was COOKER TO PERFECTION!(medium of course!) so much flavor and not super salty which was perfect for me. With that I ordered the mushrooms as my side(could've done without. They were just meh. Not much flavor but I enjoyed the texture. But hard pass next time) Husband enjoyed the two piece lamb that came with potatoes that kind of made me think of my MIL's German potatoes. It was good, he enjoyed them and all it's flavors of both the potatoes and lamb. I'm not a lamb person and I enjoyed a taste as well. Finished our evening meal with their homemade baklava and pistachio gelato! Very tasty, husband LOVED IT it's too sweet for me, but I know it was made exactly how it should be. My sweet tooth is just a little more limited lol so highly recommend. If you're a foodie or want to just dine someone nice and want amazing food and service I highly recommend this place. I've been to their cafe before and my husband has been to the restaurant and has been wanting to take me, so we went to celebrate his birthday here. Located close to the Los Gatos downtown and across from Los Gatos High, you'll find this Mediterranean gem. We started off with wine and appetizers. I got Assyrtiko white wine from Santorini and hubby got a red wine. My white wine was really nice and I fully enjoyed it. For starters we got Saganaki (pan seared cheese) and Soutzoukakia (lamb and beef meatballs) as well as some pita bread. I must say the starters were the stars of the night for me! The lamb/meatballs were so tasty and flavorful and the sauce that they were sitting on was delicious and nice to have with the pita bread as well. The Saganaki was delicious as well. I love cheese and this was perfection! For main course, I got the petite lamb chops. I would have liked them to be cooked a little more than what they were. They did not ask how I would have liked them cooked so I thought they would be a little more cooked than what they were. It was probably a medium but i'm more of a medium well person. So that was a bit of a bummer...I felt like I wasted a lot of meat because it was undercooked for my liking. My husband got the 16oz rib eye steak and enjoyed his. After waiting three years to dine here, I finally got the chance to come with my lovely gf. We went at the perfect time which was sunset. I loved the atmosphere; dark and dim, candle lights, open-face kitchen with chefs being productive, a bustling bar, and excellent service. I'd like to thank Jeremy, our waiter. He was kind, professional, and very efficient with his work. I really like how Dio Deka serves mini tastings in between each meal. We started with fresh halibut ceviche served on a cold soup spoon, cauliflower soup served in a shot glass, and merengue at the end as dessert. We also had seasoned oven baked pita which was just delicious and addicting. For our appetizer, we had their grilled octopus. The octopus meat literally melted like butter and was super tender. You can even taste the burnt grill marks on the skin of the tentacle. For my main entree, I had the Australian lamb racks which are two big chunky pieces of lamb meat. They're tender, juicy, full of flavorful, etc. I thought the dish itself was too expensive for what it was but add two more racks and It'd make sense. At the end, we had Greek coffee which was Turkish coffee without cardomom. Overall, Dio Deka is an excellent restaurant. You get an experience like a high end 12 course meal atmosphere without paying that extra stash of cash. This restaurant is white linen style with a classy vibe; guests wearing business attire. Their entree was good and the pita that they kept coming was delicious. They only had one veg entree. It's very common that restaurants have few veg options but usually that one option is very good. Not true in this case. Manouri rollo (cannoli kinda pasta in marinara sauce) was bland didn't really have any flavor. My friends who ate lamb chops and fish found it okay to good but nothing exceptional. For dessert we ordered ice cream, baklava and beignets. Everything was good. The ambiance and service was excellent but the food fell a little short: Assorment of Spreads: This selection of roasted bell pepper feta, jalepeno feta and garlic tzatziki was tasty and accompanied with the sliced pita was a good starter. Octopus: Not bad but it wasn't as charred as previously remembered. Lamb Chops: Presentation of 2 thick chops was visually appealing however when requested for med-rare unfortuanately it was more med-well to well and it was underseasoned; so a little disapoointed. Even the crushed potatoes were bland. Branzino: another entree that fell short in flavor as the skin was not crisp and the kitchen must have run out of salt. The spinach and potatoes were ok but nothing spectacular. Foraged Mushrooms: This was a hit, bold mushroom flavor and great accompaniment. Flourless Chocolate Cake- small piece but good chocolate punch; however the dark chocolate truffles that was complimentary was much better! This could have been an easy 4-stars, edging toward 5 but I was disappointed. this has been a bucket list restaurant for many years. the food was great, it's a beautiful space, but the service was annoying grilled octopus starter was excellent. the homemade focacci bread and tzatziki spread were also very good. lamp chops, filet and all the sides also good but...we felt so rushed. we were served an amuse bouche after we had barely sat down. we ordered drinks and before they arrived we were asked what we wanted to order. we said we hadn't even looked yet. we ordered cocktails, a bottle of wine and also brought one of our own bottles (corkage $35!!!). we ordered some apps and our waiter must have asked us another 4 times if we were ready to order our mains yet. we were clearly enjoying the night, and wanted to savor the experience but our waiter wasn't having it. the food came out immediately after ordering the space is beautiful, the food very good, but pushing us aggressively to order, rushing our food to the table and a ridiculous $35 corkage (I haven't seen a corkage that high outside of Vegas) for $150 pp severely detracted from what had been a long-awaited visit. read more

Trying to find a spot to celebrate a birthday is always a treat & challenging. But we're glad we chose Dio Deka as the food hit the spot. L O C A T I O N Dio Deka is in Los Gatos located in the front of the Hotel Los Gatos. There's complimentary valet but you can literally park right in front of the hotel on the street which is what we did. It's limited to 90 minutes but we finished our meal within the allotted time. Just to give you an idea, my Outside photo was just next to where we parked our car. If you do enter from the front side, the restaurant is the first door to the right. The left is the spa (I believe). I N T E R I O R Very Spanish/Mediterranean feel. The bar was to the left which later on many folks were gathered. The main dining area was right in front of the kitchen. Tables are pretty tightly packed in there. A M B I A N C E The ambiance should have felt more romantic but it was quite loud in there. It was dimly lit so funny enough, the table next to us took out their phones for their flashlight to read their menus. If you want a quiet dinner, this is not your spot. R E S E R V A T I O N S I would recommend reservations. I did mine through their site. A couple days ahead they only had 5:15, 5:30 & after 8pm for times. We ended up doing a 5:30 reservations & glad we did because within a half hour it was super packed in there with a bunch of noise. At least our first half hour was sane. M E N U The food is basically Greek/Mediterranean food. There are a good number of cold & warm appetizers, seafood & meat mains as well as steaks & sides. Desserts & drinks as well but they don't give you the cocktail menu, so you have to ask for it. Be aware that there will be an amuse bouche & an intermezzo along with your meal. So if you're like me & can't eat too much, you may have to lean on your dinner partner if you have one. The amuse bouche was a good palate awakener. The intermezzo mushroom soup was lacking seasoning. I took a sip & passed on the rest. The herb grilled pita bread was dangerous. I had one just to taste & it was great. We did wish there was a balsamic vinegar & oil dip to go alongside with it. One thing that was weird was the table next to us received a dessert that wasn't on the menu. It was a tall pastry with two beignets on top. ~ Octopus ~ The octopus was tender & extra grilled where it needed to be. It was how we like octopus. The flavors were great. Probably one of the best octopus dishes we've had. ~ Mediterranean Branzino ~ This could have been great. Although the fish was tender & cooked well the skin was not crispy. It was mush. The potatoes were good but super heavy as a compliment to the light fish which felt a bit mismatched. ~ Lamb Chops ~ Probably the best lamb chops we've had though the seasoning was lacking just something that we couldn't put our finger on. The cook on it was fantastic, a perfect medium rare. My boyfriend rarely eats the fat on a steak or other items, but this chop had huge portions of fat that just melted in your mouth & he just devoured ever bit of it. ~ Evita Royale Lemondrop ~ We thought this wouldn't be sweet enough & be too much vodka but it was otherwise. It was sweet. Very sweet, but tart & pleasant. ~ Sokolatina ~ Not the best dessert I've ever had. It was ok. For the size of it & the price, it was a miss for me. It's very much intended for those who really really love chocolate. I was so glad there was a splash of raspberry sauce as that balanced the heavy chocolate sweetness of the dish. I wish there was a sorbet or maybe a compote to go along with it not just a spill of a little raspberry. ~ Loukoumathes ~ This was the two beignets for our birthday celebration. Not like any other beignets we've ever had. This felt like it was made with tapioca flour as it was chewy like a mochi which was a pleasant surprise. I liked this more than I did the Sokolatina. D I N I N G E X P E R I E N C E Although we did enjoy our food, there were a couple things that just irked me. Our server never introduced himself. He was always talking directly to my boyfriend & standing behind me whenever he would ask questions. Why not beside the table & talk to both of us? I was promised a birthday card for our reservation & we never received it. Also I was led to believe that at the end of our dinner, when choosing our dessert, it would be complimentary as was told to me on the phone. We chose only 1 dessert & they ended up bringing us a couple of beignets as the complimentary dessert instead alongside the dessert we chose & were charged for that dessert. Now I don't know if we had to choose two desserts & get one of them comped but please be more clear. Dishes were promptly cleared & water refilled which was quite appreciated. O V E R A L L Dio Deka is a good spot to have a good meal to celebrate a special day, but it's not quiet. Fantastic spot. Located within the Los Gatos hotel, they will make you feel like royalty the moment you enter. Made reservations in advance as we were planning on celebrating Valentines Day here, and how knows how packed it could have become. It's not the largest restaurant, but still big enough. Service is top notch and they will be at your table asking you if you need anything frequently. So if you don't like being asked if everything is OK, then you might want to skip town. It's a Greek restaurant and pretty much everything we ate here was great. From the octopus, lamb chops, filet mignon, orzo, foraged mushrooms, dessert, and cocktails all left a great taste in my mouth. I was pleasantly surprised. My husband and I came for a Friday night dinner. The restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating. There looked to be a lot of room in each of the seating locations. The restaurant is part of a hotel so you'll get people visiting from out of town or locals dining at their local restaurant. We had been asked to be seated outside. The staff was very friendly. We were told the restaurant had some fun cocktails so we started with a couple of those. The restaurant offers a wonderful bread basket to start. One of them was an olive bread. It was really good and nice and soft. For an appetizer we got the grilled octopus. The size of the dish was enough for two of us to share. I thought the dish could have used a bit more salt. I think it really would have enhanced the flavors. It was good, but it didn't stand out. For main courses my husband got the filet and I got the rack of lamb. Another sprinkle of finishing salt could have enhanced the dish. The temperatures on our dish were a tad over. It was fine for our liking, but something to keep in mind when ordering. The steak doesn't come with sides so we ordered the mushrooms and vegetables on the side. Overall a really good meal. read more

I was really excited to dine here, unfortunately expectations fell short. A friend and I sat at the bar next to the service well, Rueben who was our bartender, was wonderful. I ordered a bottle of wine, 2017 Vieux Telegraphe Châteauneuf-du-Pape, from Reuben. My wine was dropped off in the service well and I see a male with a man bun, floor manager I'm assuming, begin to open my wine without presenting it to me first. The presenting of a bottle of wine is essential , ensuring the wine is exactly what the customer had ordered. I asked him if I could see the label before he pulled the cork. Clearly, there needs to be some training in wine service. For food, we ordered the Sillogi, three spreads of Tzatziki, Eggplant, and Hummus served with pita bread, very good. Next we ordered the Oktapodi, grilled octopus, cooked to perfection, nice and tender. The one disappointment was the Plevrakia, supposedly "slow roasted Duroc pork riblets." The riblets were small with very little meat and had a texture of being deep fried, which I assumed happened, since the riblets were served literally within one minute of us ordering and appeared to be a mistake from a previous order, and re-warmed via the deep fryer. Two stars for the great service provided by Rueben and also Alexa, who was bartending and also handling the tables in the bar area. Unfortunately we will not be returning, as the food was good, except for the pork riblets, but not memorable. My guy decided to surprise me with a trip here for a belated birthday dinner. My first impression upon finding out: I wasn't thrilled or too interested in the thought of Greek cuisine. Located inside of the Hotel Los Gatos, this restaurant can easily be missed so drive slowly. My guy considers Dio Deka as one of his top 3 faves, has been here multiple times, but he still manages to pass the entrance without fail. Parking is super easy being that valet is complimentary. As a forewarning, I recommend making reservations or you will be sorry. We entered into a dead restaurant but that quickly changed. Our order for the night consisted of: -HOUSE MADE PITA- brushed with olive oil & herbs -FRESH FISH OF THE DAY- [trout] w|veggies in a saffron tomato broth. -BONE-IN RIBEYE(X2)- medium & medium rare -FORAGED MUSHROOMS -GARLIC & ROSEMARY FRENCH FRIES -SOKOLATINA- flourless chocolate cake -LOUKOUMATHES- Greek beignets served with honey syrup, nuts, & cinnamon Food was absolutely amazing from start to finish. The pita was warm, fluffy, and tasty- HEAVEN!! The ribeyes were beautiful and the only complaint was the medium steak coming out a lot more rare that expected. The guys quickly took the dish back and made the appropriate adjustments. I was happy that we went with the fish of the day- this was my first time having trout and it was so memorable that it left me wanting more. Sides were seasoned well and very delicious. Between the two desserts, sokolatina was the biggest letdown. Cake was noticeably dry and was left untouched beyond the fruit & whipped cream. 5 stars for the amazing foods being dished out. The high quality of ingredients being used is something that you can see and taste. Customer service was spot on throughout the entire night. Dio Deka does not disappoint and comes highly recommended!!! **No joke, this place is legit FANCY. Come dressed in your best or prepare to feel a bit out of place. I'm not one of those girly girls who enjoys or even has the patience to get dolled up so I definitely stuck out like a sore thumb. LMAO** read more

Another exceptional meal at Dio Deka with my girlfriends last night. We happened to not have a reservation on Wednesday evening and requested an outdoor table, hoping we could get lucky. They were so nice about our spontaneous dinner and just requested us to wait at the bar for 20-30 mins to accommodate our party of 4. We were seated behind the main courtyard which was actually super quiet and a nice change of space. We had a great bottle of rosé that came recommended by the bartender, which was perfect for the summer evening. We of course ordered the Tzatziki trio to start since this is the best starter around. I wasn't as hungry as the girls in my group so I ordered the octopus. When it came out, the waiter apologized and said it was their last octopus serving of the night (so it wasn't up to snuff), and on the house. I really appreciated that they still brought it out! (And still enjoyed quite a bit). They instead brought out the crab cake which was exceptional! 10/10 it's as if they knew I loved it ;) The ladies were very happy with their mains and shout out to Nick our awesome waiter for being so pleasant and humoring us through our meal.
