The manager said that once they started the repairs, they found other things that needed repaired/ replaced, so, without calling to advise or get approval, he took it upon himself to go ahead with repairs. He became belligerent when pressed for answers, and said that he was required by law to make these repairs (??)... but still, did not think he was required to call us to advise about these extras that doubled the cost. Although they are required by law to do so, they refused to give us the (alleged) broken parts that they decided to repair without getting our ok. The Indiana Attorney General's office classifies this as deceptive practice. Our attorney advised us to pay Clark before they file a mechanic's lien, then report them to BBB and file suit. We, fortunately, were able to do that, but what about the customers who can't come up with the money to pay twice what was quoted? I hate to think of how often they've likely pulled similar stunts like this, and how we will always be skeptical of the small mom-and-pop auto mechanic shops in the future as a result.

Mike usually waits on me, and once I thought I needed a new tire and it was just a broken air valve which was a $10 fix. Yesterday, I called every where to price 2 front tires and they were the lowest priced. I asked them to check my back 2 tires and the wheels were corroded so again instead of charging me for 2 extra tires, they smoothed it down and it was $25 instead of a new set! I didn't have to wait 3 hours at Walmart, 45 minutes maxed and was able to enjoy the shops along the Monon. Don't forget about this establishment in Carmel!

They did a full inspection with photos and gave me a detailed quote. Most shops do that now, but what stood out was how there was absolutely no pushback when I said I only wanted a new tire and my battery swapped. Most shops will upsell you to death and try to convince you to fix things that aren't absolutely necessary. Keith was great to work with. He explained everything clearly and never made me feel stupid for not knowing much about cars. Really appreciated that. Overall, solid experience and I'd definitely go back.
