A few thoughts about District Tea: 1) green tea Thai tea was interesting! I've never seen it on another boba menu before so I wanted to try! The tea was a bit sour but yummy when blended with the milk - still prefer the original Thai tea. The boba was a bit soft. 2) the Korean corn dogs I was excited to see because I don't see it much on menus in LA, but definitely DO NOT recommend these as it was largely the outer shell with just a small amount of sausage (which wasn't yummy anyway) and some cheese that easily hardens. The shell is akin to a grainy donut/churro shell with the sugar coating. 3) this isn't in the safest area and it's only a window without anywhere to sit in front Overall, for ~$14, this definitely was not worth it and I do not recommend visiting District Tea unless you are already nearby and wanting a quick stop. read more

I'm so glad I found District Tea! I was in a rush at work to order a large quantity of boba...just the tapioca. I reached out to District Tea via E-mail, and Mickie responded within the hour, letting me know she was happy to complete/support my order. While I was there, I decided to order a couple of drinks for myself/colleagues (btw their website is so pretty - designed by Mickie herself - so talented and aesthetically pleasing) and we ended up with the Mung Bean Latte (for me) and two honk kong milk teas with boba for my two colleagues. I loved the freshness of the Mung Bean Latte. I advise getting it less sweet. If you don't prefer gritty stuff, don't get the Mung Bean latte - it's not smooth because of the beans, but it's all personal preference. The HK milk tea is pretty strong! One coworker had to add a bit of milk for her own preference. But it's definitely quality and tasted good. The boba was fresh, chewy, and not too sweet. We got there close to closing, so the wait was super short, and we also saw that they had a bunch of cute looking lunch boxes that we're going to come back and try! We got the mung bean latte and the jasmine milk tea. The mung bean was actually quite surprising; super strong traditional mung bean taste, which I really enjoyed! I've been meaning to try District Tea since it opened! I love how it's run by SF natives so when a friend said she had a meetup in the Mission and was free to hang one Tuesday afternoon, I suggested hitting up District Tea on the way. There's a good amount of seating but no outlets. Still, I saw two people doing work there anyways. In addition to normal milk tea and matcha, they have a nice selection of "sexy drinks" which are more Mission-inspired drinks as well as some snacks. I liked their spam musubi and decided to be adventurous, trying Matcha Watermelon. It was an interesting mix that wasn't for me, but my friend liked her Matcha Mango and I'd be back to try their Matcha Strawberry which I usually love at other boba places. How have I not been here yet?! After discovering that they have such a unique selection of drinks on their menu, I needed to try! You have to order ahead for pick up on their website or through DoorDash. Certain items are only available through their website - their Picnic Special. We tried their "Picnic Special. $23 is their baseline price since it cost extra $$$ for premium items. This comes with 2 small drinks of your choice, a sando and 2 snacks. You cannot adjust the levels of your drink in this special. I did the calculations and you do save a couple bucks vs if buying these items individually. We opted for the following and ended up spending $33: + Matcha Mango Latter (subbed for soy): +$0.50. BIG FAN. Tbh, I expected it to be too sweet since I get my drinks with 50% sweetness or less & no ice (to maximize the drink value!) - but it was the PERFECT amount of sweetness! I loved that neither the mango nor the matcha overpowered each other, but complimented each other very well. A+ + Mung Bean Latte: This was really good too! They use real pandan leaves and mung beans and organic milk. If I were to compare this to 7L, I would say this one was milkier, has the same graininess, and way less sweet which is a big plus for me. + Katsu Sando: +$3. This was very yummy. They use the traditional katsu sauce, cabbage, and fluffy white bread. + Popcorn Chicken: +$1. I missed popcorn chicken so much! It wasn't overly battered nor too oily. They put the spicy powder and pepper on the side so you can adjust the taste to your liking. + Corn Croquette: My first time trying this and it was very good! While the tea is quite good, it isn't the best quality but the good quality, high variety of drinks and foods, and great service make this an amazing boba shop. Makes it extra unique. The mozzarella cheese was to die for inside. There's so much of it, and it's amazingly stringy. Potato croquette: Delicious. Very well done with the crispiness on the outside. Their strawberry matcha is actually better than boba guys. You walk up to the window, order your tea, wait about 10 mintues, and take it to-go. I've tried their boba tea (delicious) as well as their mango drink (caffeine free option). Both are really good. The boba pearls are nice and sweet, but not too sweet, chewy and have a good firm texture. The tea is strong and flavorful (I hate it when other places water down their tea). I also tried some snacks! The spam musubi is good, but the ratio of rice to spam to a little too much. It would be perfect if they cut back on the rice, but honestly, it's still pretty good so I get it every time I go. I also love their fried chicken! It's seasoned and fried perfectly, crisp on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside! I love District Tea. I loved this place. We ended up coming to try their picnic special which includes the choices of onigiri, croquets and different Japanese style sandwiches for 2. District Tea is a small shop located in the Mission District. Parking is street parking, it may be hit or miss in this busy area (there is more street parking on the side streets if you do not mind the walk). They are a family owned business, the owners are friendly and welcoming! They renovated earlier this year as well - it definitely looks more clean, modern, and sleek inside. I have tried a variety of drinks and snacks from here, as well as their DIY boba kit. Their boba kit was one of the better ones out of the many I had tried during the pandemic - their premium jasmine tea tasted great (I added my own milk to it for a DIY jasmine milk tea) and the boba that comes with the kit was way quality and tasted way better than the other ones in the kits (the boba in the other kits were clumpy, fell apart easily, and did not taste like real boba). For drinks, I had tried their Jasmine Milk Tea, Jasmine Tea Crema, Mango Green Tea Sea Salt Crema, Mango Green Tea with Mitchell's Vanilla Ice Cream, Mango Matcha Latte, Strawberry Green Tea Sea Salt Crema, Strawberry Green Tea with Mitchell's Vanilla Ice Cream, Strawberry Matcha Latte, and Watermelon Matcha Refresca. For snacks, I had tried their Egg Salad Sando, French Fries, Katsu Sando, Popcorn Chicken, Potato Croquette, Spam Musubi, and Tuna Onigiri. The Jasmine Milk Tea has a good creaminess and it works well with the 2% milk for a good tea taste. The Jasmine Tea Crema has a strong jasmine tea taste and mixes well with the crema for the creamy taste. The Mango Green Tea Sea Salt Crema tasted like mango ice cream as a drink with a subtle tea taste. The Mango Green Tea with Mitchell's Vanilla Ice Cream is very creamy from the ice cream and I love the mango chunks as well, mix well and it tastes somewhat like an extra creamy mango milk tea . The Mango Matcha Latte was very creamy and has a good matcha flavor, while the mango was not too overpowering. The Strawberry Green Tea Sea Salt Crema has a stronger and more intense strawberry taste to it and mixes well with the cream, while the tea taste is subtle. The Strawberry Green Tea with Mitchell's Vanilla Ice Cream reminds me of strawberry juice with the creaminess from the ice cream. The Strawberry Matcha Latte is very creamy as well with a good taste of the strawberries and is a bit more intense. The Watermelon Matcha Refresca has no milk added, so it tasted a bit like a cup of matcha with some watermelon flavor, it is a good mixture of both flavors and mixed well. My favorite drink was definitely their jasmine milk tea with boba. My favorite snacks were their katsu sando and popcorn chicken, the katsu and popcorn chicken were crispy and tender, while the sando bread was fluffy and soft. I can see myself making District Tea a go-to once they open up their indoor seating. I recommend giving this place a try regardless for their unique selection. Order online for convenience! I got a small iced sweet potato latte that came out to $5.16. There was no sugar adjustment so I was worried I would find it too sweet, but it ended up being perfect. I was reaaally impressed by how prominent the sweet potato flavour was. They also shake the drink quite well before serving so it has a nice thin consistency and even balance of flavour throughout, vs. sometimes with similar drinks you get clumps of puree and normal milk. There was a big menu on the wall grouped by types of drinks and foods, and the drinks indicated if the drink was available hot and if there was caffeine. This was perfect for a cold evening when I didn't want caffeine and something to keep my hands warm. We made our order with a kiosk that allowed us to customize our drinks. The drinks came out relatively quickly, and we hung out inside for a little bit to enjoy our drinks. There's no seating, but we weren't going to stay for long anyway. Pretty good mung bean milk tea and boba. I'm a big fan of 7 leaves mung bean and was looking for one in SF. I ordered online and appreciated District Tea asks whether you need a straw or not, allows for less waste! Their normal sweet is 75% - decided to try their recommendation. I didn't really like, I typically like my drinks at 100% but wanted to see what their "normal" was like because maybe their 100% is verryyy sweet. Growing up, I used to go to Quickly's for their Asian snacks. Who can resist fried foods? I decided to order two Jasmine milk teas, popcorn chicken, potato croquettes, and takoyaki. Unfortunately, the Korean corn dog wasn't available as an option on UberEats. I really wanted the Korean corn dog since it isn't a common food item that you can get in San Francisco. This is my fave boba spot rn. How has this place been around for a year and I didn't know about it? Probably because I don't frequent the mission; this place makes a pretty good case to change that. I've been here twice and have had their popcorn chicken and jasmine green tea with oat milk and boba. The popcorn chicken is okay. The tea had a good ratio of tea flavor, sweetness, ice and milk. The boba was solid - sweet and chewy. I definitely want to try their katsu sando at some point to compare against cafe okawari's version. We ordered the Green Thai Tea and Roasted Oolong Milk Tea, both with boba. The boba was soft and chewy, and and the drinks had good flavor but had less tea taste than expected. I felt that the drink was slightly watered down, but I did order 25% sugar so that could be the reason. The picnic packs are what make this place stand out from other boba places and are a little pricey but super worth the price. All the sandwiches are good options and would recommend getting the Katsu if you feel like splurging. Popcorn chicken is a staple and they do it justice as well as the other onigiri's. I love their milk teas, especially the green Thai tea and oolong milk tea. They also have a special on thursdays where you can upgrade to a large size without extra charge. Definitely my favorite milk tea in the area. My friend was served a mung bean latte, but the batch had gone bad. It was disappointing, because my husband loves their mung bean latte and taro latte.
