We got take out today and ordered the big plate chicken boneless small size $20, lamb kebabs (3) for $10, and the Uyghur goshnaan $15. With taxes total was around $51. Everything tasted great, our favorite was the big plate chicken and we loved the thick noodles. Unfortunate the portions were very small for the amount we paid, not sure if it's because we ordered takeout or bc it's the pandemic/inflations. The big plate chicken had maybe 3-4 strands of noodles, we ended up boiling more noodles to add to our chicken. The kebab included maybe 8/9 pieces of lamb, even though it was 3 skewers. The goshnaan was savory and juicy. For what it's worth, I'm glad we tried Dolan's and we liked the food. Maybe next time when it's safer we'll try dinning in. read more

My first time enjoying my Uyghur cuisine. I went with two of the dishes I had read were great - Big Plate Chicken and a Goshnaan. Big Plate Chicken included chicken thighs over thin wide noodles in a flavorful sauce along with some stewed potatoes, onions and peppers. With such a plethora of Chinese cuisine in SGV, I wanted to try something new recently and found Dolans Uyghur Cuisine. Uyghur cuisine is something that I've only had a couple times so the cuisine is pretty intriguing for me. I ordered to go with a guy who honestly seemed like he did not want to be there. I was asking him a few questions on some dishes, and he gave me very short answers all while looking at his phone. I ended up going with a few dishes and they were all super greasy. Laghman was the hand pulled noodles, with stir fried beef and veggies. I enjoyed the chewiness of the noodles, but the bottom of the dish was super super oily. I thought the Goshnaan would be better, but it too, was drenched in oil. I enjoyed the filling in the naan though! Unfortunately, with very oily food and subpar service, I won't be back. read more

I've had the same dish at other Ughyur restaurants like Omar's Kitchen in Artesia but get it at Dolan's. That's their signature dish. Here are my reviews for some of their other dishes: Fried Naan with beef: 4/5 - stir-fried beef that is cooked with onions, bell peppers, and fried naan. Not bad. Fried Broccoli: 5/5 - yes, for those of you who know me I don't like vegetables. But the way this place makes it, is it really even vegetable I'm eating? Crunchy broccoli with an addictive garlicky sauce. Laghman: 3.5/5 - traditional hand-pulled noodles served with stir-fried veggies and beef. Meh. The restaurant isn't usually very busy so you don't need to make a reservation ahead of time but don't go when you're starving because it does take 20-25 minutes for the chef to make the big plate chicken dish. read more

Before entering, you're greeted by the aromatic spices used by this restaurant! It smells so amazing! We ordered 4 things (three appetizers, one dish) for 3 people. Perfect amount for us: Samsa, Big Plate Chicken with extra noodles, Uyghur Goshnaan, and Baklava Samsa comes with 4 pieces of beef and onion filled pastries that are baked. Very flaky, tasty, and aromatic. The pickled purple cabbage not only adds a vibrant pop of color to the dish, it's also tasty and helps balance any oiliness you might feel from eating the samsa. Big Plate Chicken comes with bone-in chicken, potatoes, capsicum, leek, peppers, and hand-pulled flat noodles. We ordered a small size with extra noodles. Very aromatic and spicy with a numbing-spice sensation. Extra noodles came on the side, which were definitely worth it. We ordered the Boneless Big Plate Chicken, however, there may have been a confusion because we asked for a small, but only the Big Plate Chicken (bone-in) has a small and large option. We were still happy with what we got! Uyghur Goshnaan was definitely my favorite appetizer there. It looks like a delicious flat pie. It's a handmade Naan filled with beef, lamb, onions, and other spices. Cut into 6 pieces. The outside is very thin, almost pasty-like, not doughy at all, which I find so yummy, and it still holds together the inside filling very well. Baklava is also made in house. It is usually served at room temperature. Comes with two pieces. Very flaky and sweet with a subtle crunch. It'd be perfect with some hot tea. I would definitely come here and try more dishes next time. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor seating has a beautiful mural of men cooking and playing music! 4.5 stars. There's a parking lot at the back of the restaurant, but you can still find free street parking if the lot is full. Please support Uyghur restaurants! I only know of 2 in LA County and both are great. The special tea here is delicious and served in such a nice tea set. We shared a lot of food, including the Uyghur salad (dressing was great), samsa, polo, goshnaan, big plate chicken, diced noodle, lamb Tower Kebab, and baklava. The handmade noodles were all great. My favorite was the diced noodle and lamb Tower Kebab. Their food was a little on the salty side (except for the goshnaan and polo) but you can probably specify if you want less. The big plate chicken was quite spicy. Food portions are large and prices are cheap so it's definitely a good value too. read more

First time we went here, to try Uyghur food. Soooo tasty and flavorful. We took our friend out for his birthday and he chose Dolan's :D, so glad he did. We ordered the Uyghur-Goshnaan, the Uyghur Polo (with chicken), the Laghman, the Quyash Qatlima, and for dessert: 3 kinds of Baklava: birds nest, pistachio, and cherry. All of it tasted perfectly delicious!!! Not too salty. Just full of amazing flavor. We will come back for sure!!!! We came to this restaurant because of the Uzbek dishes. Not what we expected, but still delicious! Nevertheless, my family each enjoyed their meals - Laghman, Vegetable Korma Chop, Samsa, Kava Manta, Quyash Qatlima and Polo. The star of the show (for me as a vegetarian) was definitely the Kava Manta ! My family also really liked the Quyash Qatlima that came with a small side of yogurt, which took about 20-30 mins to come out, but we were forewarned by our waitress. Uzbek cuisine has been on my mind ever since I tried Omar Restaurant down the street. The interior of Dolans is a lot more comfortable with nice decor and lighting. As others have mentioned, service may be a tad relaxed, but just wave them down if you're in a rush. The uyghur goshnaan was a beef/lamb-filled pie that I wish contained some more fresh veggies to brighten it up. It was great piping hot, but less appealing as it starts to lose its steam. We also tried the big plate chicken, which was really tasty but spicy. I wish they had asked about preferred spice level, because I felt my face reddening and my eyes watering as I tried to fight through the fire in my throat. The noodles were nice and chewy, but we quickly finished all the noodles and were left with the other stuff. I took this home and added some more fresh veggies and stuff to counter the spice level, which made it much better. The best thing of the night would be the samsa. They're flaky triangular puff pastries filled with ground beef. I loved this a lot more than the uyghur goshnaan, actually. Plus they stayed yummy when they had cooled down a bit, whereas the goshnaan texture changed. This place is a little pricier than some other neighborhood options, but the food is really good so it's fair. Plus their meat is Halal, which makes a big difference for some of my friends who have a hard time finding Halal Asian food out in the IE. read more

FOOD Huge portions for the price we pay in all dishes we ordered. Big plate chicken: got a small size and this was huge. You can easily feed 4 people with this if you had other dishes. If not, 2 people would be very full. If you're a big eater, you'd still get full. The dish already includes hand made noodles, but there's an option to add more noodles for an additional cost. There's a kick to the taste as it's filled with a lot of peppercorns and some chili peppers. Definitely an oily dish but would go great with rice. Uyghur Goshnan: reminds me of those meat pies. It's filled with beef, onions and some lamb (according to its menu description). My boyfriend was a fan of this dish. There were 6 big slices. Not spicy. Fried nan with beef: very crispy, but very dry. Huge portion but very overwhelming for me. This is a dish I may not order again. It's one of those dishes that would be great to share with a huge party so each person can just eat a couple pieces. Kebob noodles: this is a sour cold dish noodles topped with beef. Interesting combination but may not get this again either. Not spicy. SERVICE/AMBIANCE Customer service is standard for 626. You flag them down when you need something, but other than that they won't come to you. It did take a while for us to order, but the food came out relatively quick. PARKING It has its own small parking spot but I recommend doing street parking. It'd be easier to get in and out. WILL I COME BACK? Maybe for take out to order the big plate dish. Came in for a lunch around opening on a Tuesday. While the restaurant was quiet, orders were happening throughout out meal thru pick up, delivery orders. We had the Laghman (hand pulled noodles and beef), lamb kabab, fried naan with beef (this was my favorite and most hard to stop eating dish). It was our first time having this culture of cuisine and it was a delight for our senses. The various spices were reminded me of middle eastern cuisines and the spice was a bit of a surprise, but meshed well with the flavors. So delicious! I'd never tried Urygur food before but always wanted to. I actually learned a Urygur dance in college for a performance. So that's what made me read up about them, and their food sounded amazing, which is why I wanted to try it. So glad I did! I've never tasted anything like the Urygur goshnaan, but the flavor is incredible! I suppose the closest flavor profile is Middle Eastern food, but not quite. Such a yummy combo of beef and lamb in a flaky pie crust. My friend got a spicy noodle dish which was also very tasty! We had mint tea which was lovely and baklava from the Baklava Factory! They definitely got the good baklava. I'm looking forward to coming back to try the braised lamb. Just be aware their parking lot is a bit small, so you may have to park on the street. read more

Very authentic Uyghur food. The only place I've had better is in China! That being said, I agree with many of the reviewers here - some of the dishes are amazing, while others are pretty simple. Pretty much our entire order was based on recommendations from our server who was very chill. Big Plate Chicken - 5/5 oh my goodness the flavors here are delicious. Everyone orders this and for good reason. The chicken is tender, and the noodles which soak up the sauce underneath are *incredible*. Unfortunately the dish is like 15% noodles, so I just wish there were more. Lamb Kebab - 5/5 awesome. Also not surprised everyone orders this. Very chewy and cooked perfectly. Black Mushroom with Celery - 3/5 I don't think it gets more boring than this lol. Just a ton of celery really. This really isn't the restaurant for getting your daily vegetables lol. I've been meaning to try this restaurant for a long time since I've never had Uyghur cuisine but had heard good things. Showed up for dinner on a weekday night and it wasn't busy. There were only a couple other tables but I felt bad that it seemed like there was only one person working the front. She did do her best job to provide quick service and we didn't have to wait too long for anything. I had a hard time deciding what to order since I wasn't familiar with the food but decided to try the Big Chicken Plate, Laghman, Manta, and Ground Beef Soup. The portions were fairly generous and everything was seasoned well. The Laghman was my favorite but I didn't enjoy the Manta as much as I hoped. Although the Big Chicken Plate was good and had a lot of chicken, I do wish it came with a bit more noodles. We had a big party visit here a couple of weeks ago and we were looking for some Halal options. We found this place on Yelp and thought to give it a try. This turned out to be the best decision of our day. The service was unbelievable. They were so fast, helpful, accommodating, and gave great suggestions. We ordered family style for the table, and every single item that came out was just amazing. Our whole table enjoyed thoroughly and was so happy to try Uyghur cuisine. It tasted like a blend of different types of food we had before and had a familiar taste. The parking lot is quite huge, and they were able to accommodate our party of about 10 with ease, and most importantly the food was phenomenal. I stopped by for lunch on their outside dining patio. My friend recommended that I try this local place since it sells authentic Uyghur dishes. The manta dumplings kind of reminded me of a beefy, onion version of a Suzhou bao or thick xiaolongbao. The flavor of the onions permeated the diced beef just right, and the dumplings were juicy. Since there's no Tibetan restaurant in SoCal, we visited Dolan's because Uyghur food is similar in some ways. We were blown away by how delicious it was. We had the Laghman noodles, Big Plate Chicken and Leghirdaq (starch noodles called Laphing in Tibetan). Everything was handmade and fresh with a depth of flavor. The noodles were fresh hand pulled and we loved the cumin and spices in the sauces. So glad we visited. read more

Happy to see another Uyghur restaurant open in the LA/OC area, joining the list with Omar's Halal Restaurant in Alhambra, Omar's Kitchen in Artesia, and Silk Road Garden in City of Industry. Like Omar's Kitchen, Dolan's offers an extensive menu of Uyghur and Northern Chinese dishes. And yes, they are halal. Dining alone last night, I was only able to try their Uyghur Goshnaan, a meat pie filled with minced lamb. The pie was nice and crispy, though it can easily get soggy as the juices will seep out from the mince lamb inside the pie. While delicious, it would be nice if the meat was a bit more seasoned. Laghman which is hand pulled noodles resembling Japanese udon noodles but with much more chew and pull, cooked with bell peppers, onions, tomatoes and celery, along with slices of beef. Love the noodles, not so much with the beef. The beef is a bit overcooked and may have been grilled over a flame before being sliced up and added to the dish. If they can rework the preparation of the beef, making it more tender and less like jerky, then this dish would be a real delight. Place is big, bright and clean. Staff is very nice as well. They accept MasterCard and Visa only (and cash, of course). Limited parking in the rear of the restaurant. Looking forward to going back with a larger group to be able to sample a larger variety of dishes. read more
