While waiting, we noticed there were 2-3 unbussed tables around us while there were still people waiting in their cars outside to be seated. Also took awhile for the sides and food to come out. Tofu soup was bland, spicy pork was flavorful but came out unsizzling on the hot plate. Party of 4 came for dinner on Saturday and had no wait. Before coming in, we called in requesting the galbijim to reduce wait time in-person. The dish takes 30-40 minutes to make but it is so worth it. The beef is very tender, almost melt in your mouth. The dish also has carrots, potatoes, mushrooms, and rice cakes - all perfectly complement each other. We also ordered the seafood pajeon, spicy raw marinated crab, and bulgolgi stew to share. This was more than enough food for 4, maybe even too much. The seafood pajeon was crispy and had a lot of different seafood pieces. The spicy raw marinated crab has a very nice kick to it. Be warned, this dish is messy to eat. They provided complimentary plum tea at the end of our meal which is a great way to cut all the spice we had. Place is clean and service was very quick here. First time visitor. I was blown away by the quick service. The food was a hit. I ordered a spicy tofu seafood soup and the seafood pancake. The tofu soup was flavorful. Noticeable large pieces of seafood with a great balance of tofu. I asked for spicy, but I wish it had a smidge more heat. I'll ask for extra spicy next time. The seafood pancake was really good. Very large portion, again with noticeable pieces of seafood. Not as crispy as other places but it's not a make or break for me. Still it was dense enough to be filling. Ending the meal they offer a sweet drink. It was a nice surprise. A little too sweet for me but still drank it all. Service was quick. It was just my table and one other large party. Love this place! I came here for my birthday and recently with my friend. We split the bulgogi and galbi naengmyeon combos and honestly I feel like it was pretty reasonably priced. Portions sizes are pretty substantial not gonna lie in my opinion one is enough for two people especially since there's rice and banchan. The banchan types are pretty plentiful and the meat is marinated incredibly well. The naengmyeon broth was super flavorful and with spicy mustard and meat just altogether super refreshing. Been wanting to try this place for some time and it was definitely a fun experience! We got the Bulgogi Hot Pot and it was a huge portion for 2 people. Lots of meat and veggies and rice cakes, which were really chewy and delicious! The soup itself was a bit too salty and sweet. I would've liked it a bit lighter so that I can enjoy it without the rice to break up that strong flavor. Food overall though was pretty good and the Banchan was really tasty! Service was excellent. Came here on the Veterans Day holiday. They informed us they will not be doing the lunch special they do on weekdays. This is common for many places to do "dinner prices" or exclude lunch specials when holidays fall on a weekday. Decent amount of seating but this is a smaller restaurant. I ordered the galbi which comes with rice and the banchan sides. The galbi was about $30 and comes out on a sizzling hot plate. I think it's a bit pricey for the portion. First time here since the new business took over and was still very happy with the food and service! This place was my favorite tofu soup place & it appears this place still remains my favorite! I got the mixed tofu soup extra spicy, but it wasn't that spicy to me. But I have a high tolerance so it still tasted fine season wise. Inside the interior looks the same and is very cute with the paper dividers up to block incoming sun. The side dishes were all very good and had a good variety with the commonly made Banchans. I was part of a party of 13. Reserved ahead and they were extremely accommodating. Entered into the restaurant and everything was set up for all of us. The place was really cool, clean, and overall the service was so nice! Loved the side dishes, the fishcakes and pickled radish were my favorite. I'm so sad that Hankook is no longer here, but I wanted to give the business that replaced it a try. I was pretty skeptical after seeing their menu; I've never seen so many Japanese items on a Korean menu (like udon, teriyaki, and katsu). I had the hot stone bibimbap. It was ok. I'm used to getting sesame oil to stir in, but I guess they don't do that here. The stone pot was way hotter than what I'm used to seeing...even after stirring my food for several minutes and trying to move it around every so often, my rice turned into black crisps. Sacramento area peeps are you ready for triple-digit temps EVERY SINGLE DAY this week?!?! (x___x). Heat wave food craving called for Korean cold noodles (specifically bibimguksu) so sis and I decided to check this place out. Unfortunately bibimguksu and even bibim naengmeyeon were unavailable at the time, so I ended up getting regular naengmeyeon (labeled "cold noodles" on the menu). Nicely cooked chewy noodles but the broth could've had more tang to it. The hard-boiled egg was verrrrry overcooked; unpleasantly chalky yolk. My sis ordered jjajang myeon and I tried some of it. Bouncy noodles that separated well but the sauce could've used slightly more salt. We shared the fried chicken combo. We thought it would be super airy and crispy like typical Korean fried chicken but the batter coating on the chicken was very reminiscent of that used to make sweet & sour pork (tangsuyuk). Still decent though. My favorite flavor out of the three is the yangnyum one; one of the tastiest yangnyum sauces that I've tried! I recently visited Doma for the first time with a friend, and it was his first time trying out Korean food. We stopped by for lunch last week on a Monday around 13:30 and the place was packed! Luckily, a table was available for us but it took some time until a server could provide us with menus and take our order because it was so busy. We had the dolsot bibimbap, cheese tteokbokki, bibim guksu, and jjajangmyeon, and each dish had enjoyable flavors. The bibimbap came out hot and crispy along with a sauce bottle for more spice, and the cheese tteokbokki was a good combination of creamy and chewy. The bibim guksu was tangy and cool (lol my friend was NOT expecting cold noodles), and the jjajangmyeon had a good balance of savory goodness. The portions were massive--so big that the entire table was covered with food! It's definitely a great value for the amount of food you get, and there were plenty of complimentary sides provided to pair with the main dishes. We also enjoyed a complimentary cold plum tea, which was a refreshing and thoughtful touch. The customer service was also great, despite the busyness. The servers were friendly, and attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. Plus, everything I ordered came out exactly as requested--great attention to detail! One thing to note: I ordered the jjajangmyeon for takeout, and it only came with 3 sides instead of the usual variety. Also, it was charged at the regular price rather than the lunch special price, but the server gave me an advance notice before I placed the order. Still, everything tasted good. While I was pretty satisfied with everything I ordered, I did want to try the soondubu soup, but didn't get the chance this time around. Based on other reviews, it looks amazing, so I'm looking forward to coming back and giving it a try! That being said, while everything was fantastic in terms of taste, both my friend and I felt that the food could have used a bit more spice, hence the 4 star rating. I was able to adjust my spice with the sauce bottle for my bibimbap but the rest of the dishes were ordered were very tame. If you like your food on the milder side, this place will be perfect for you. But if you're someone who loves the heat, you might want to ask for extra spice. Nothing else to say here, this is what good service looks like. Food 3/5. Nothing really stood out to me. Seafood pancake was too chewy and gummy. No flavor. And not crispy enough (I should've asked for extra crispy) it tasted kinda rubbery and the sauce carried more than it should have. Perhaps try a different pancake mix or recipe ? If I'm paying almost 20$ for a pancake it better be good. Bulgogi was good, my bf liked it! Soft tofu soup was just ok - soup base wasn't seasoned or tasty to my liking. Did have that wow factor but it was standard. Yookaejang was good!! I recommend this. Soup had lots of flavor and perfect spice - only note is that I wish it had more beef and bracken (Gosari) in the soup. Ban Chan and side dishes were tasty and refilled when needed ! Ambiance 4/5: small little restaurant. Limited seating. If you have a big party I recommend calling and making reservation ahead of time. Doma Korean Restaurant recently took over at the old Hankook Tofu House location. While it was bittersweet to find that Hankook's owners have retired, I was very excited to try Doma's food! So far I have seen nothing but great reviews for this place. The prices of all their menu items are very reasonable, especially for Korean food, and they have a variety of offerings to please anything you're craving that day, from staples such as tteokbokki, japchae, or dolsot bibimbap to combo meals, chef specials, and dosirak, just to name a few. Doma even offers lunch specials from Monday to Friday (11:00-15:00). I came to Doma on a Thursday around 11:20 and was immediately seated. It was busy already, with a few groups as well as individuals eating by themselves. I had already researched the menu items beforehand so I was ready to order, and chose the combo meal of fried flounder and seafood tofu soup. For $24 this is a great deal. The banchan arrived shortly and all the ingredients were super fresh and on par with banchan I've had at various Korean restaurants. My soondubu arrived shortly after, and so did my fried flounder. The soondubu was incredibly umami and one of my favorite tofu soups I've ever had. There was a good amount of seafood and it came with an egg as well. I almost burned my tongue since I was a little too enthusiastic about enjoying my tofu soup. The fried flounder was perfectly fried with deliciously crispy skin and juicy, tender meat. The size of the flounder was also really nice for the price I paid for this combo. I squeezed the accompanying lemon slices onto the fish and it added to the flavor of the meat without overpowering it. Both sides of the flounder had a good amount of meat and satisfied my fried flounder cravings. At the end of my meal, I was served a small iced tea to aid in my post-lunch digestion, which I enjoyed. It was quite refreshing and just what I needed. For $30 including tax and tip, this combo was wonderful and I would be more than happy to pay their prices again for an excellent meal. I was in a bit of a rush as I needed to make it on time to volunteering at the California Raptor Center that day, but next time I'll be taking full advantage of the unlimited banchan (as I've read from other reviews). My stomach was extremely happy with the food at Doma Korean Restaurant, and all the staff were so awesome with fantastic service. This place took over the old Korean restaurant I used to frequent all the time. I came maybe a few weeks after they opened and there were a lot of kinks they were still ironing out. My family and I were in no rush and we thoroughly enjoyed everything as it came. What stood out to me was how apologetic the young man was. He and the older man were so so nice about everything. We didn't mind waiting but it meant a lot to me how they were so sweet and communicative about the situation. They kept trying to offer us freebies and trying to take off a dish off the bill. We couldn't accept because we understood that things happen and we really just want them to do well. Anyway, the food was amazing and I love love loved how they made their squid. 10/10! On a lazy Saturday night, not wanting to cook and craving some comfort food, my husband and I found Doma Korean restaurant. Luckily for us, it was just a short drive from where we live. The location is in an inconspicuous strip mall, but don't let the exterior fool you. Inside awaits some of the best Korean food I have had in Sacramento. We were seated right away - the interior is small, but it lends to the comfort of the atmosphere. The service was incredible - extremely warm, welcoming, and attentive. My husband and I decided to start with some tempura vegetables and Japchae. We also split an order of bibimbap with steak. Everything was made fresh to order and so flavorful. We came pretty late in the afternoon so maybe it would have been different during a more conventional lunch/dinner time. The service was good, but there seemed to be some confusion on orders, whether we got rice already, etc. The food also took a while to come. We ordered the stir fried squid along with a tofu soup and bulgogi combo. Being from OC I might have an expectation for korean restaurants, but there were a few issues with the food. The rice was quite mushy, which made eating it with the stir fry and the soup have a lot less texture than it should. The tofu soup was pretty average, but we were sad there wasn't an egg (probably inflation). The soup also cooled down really fast which was kind of strange. The bulgogi was dry and didn't come out sizzling, which wasnt a dealbreaker, but definitely something we were used to from other restaurants. The stir fried squid had good flavor and tasted good with rice, but didn't have the wok-hei that would've made the dish even better. Banchans were great! And service was quick with refills. Items ordered: Kimchi Pancake, Spicy Raw Crab, Galbi & Seafood Tofu Soup Combo, Cold Noodle Kimchi Pancake is a bit mushy but the flavor is good. You can really taste the kimchi. I love the sauce for the Spicy Raw Crab. It is semi sweet, salty, and slightly spicy sauce. The crab isn't fishy at all. The seasoning for Galbi is flavorful and go great with the soup and rice. The soup isn't salty at all and is not that spicy at mild level. The cold noodle is very refreshing. They give you vinegar and mustard, but the default is good enough for me. The noodle is chewy and the radish added so much flavor along with the cold broth. At the end, they also give us plum iced tea. It tastes like fermented plum with tea. Pretty refreshing. Of all the Korean places I've been to in Rancho Cordova, Doma is my new favorite! I came here after it was highly recommended by a work acquaintance -- apparently her Korean boyfriend had been highly tempted to gatekeep the spot bc of how authentic and delicious it is. A few highlights / why it is my new go-to Korean spot: * Quality banchan ofc * Combo meals - I always love a good soondubu esp during the wintertime but often face the dilemma of a dry vs wet entree. At Doma, there's no need to choose as their combo consists of an entree with a mini soondubu on the side so you get the best of both worlds! * A+ service~ the second time I dined here, I was in a hurry because we were trying to squeeze in dinner prior to catching a flight so I called in advance to put in our order and the workers graciously expedited our meal -- there was a reserved table waiting for us when we arrived and the food (banchan, bossam and soondubu) all came out promptly so that we were somehow in and out with our bellies happily full in less than 20 minutes!!
