We went to Don Guerra's bagels a few weeks from grand opening and going to give them some relief on my review since it's still fairly new. We were very excited for this place to open because it was just a few minutes from our home. We were following this place on social media and had high hopes, but had a bit of an odd experience. We ordered on site and in person vs advance or drive thru. They have an app but I don't think we got rewards for our order cuz the staff member seemed to be new to figure out the register and everything. We didn't get our drinks initially and we had to go inside to get our food and status even though they gave us a number for our order. They also forgot our drinks, and we had to request that too, even for just a hot coffee. It wasn't very clear on the ordering process- if we waited inside or if food would be delivered to our seat. Having been an old sonic the space was a bit weird and seating was kind of packed in the shaded seating area, which is all outdoors. Our bagel sandwich's were extremely salty with the everything bagel, maybe would try a plain one next time. My husband had the beef slider breakfast bagel and the meat was very dry and unseasoned. Would not recommend that option. Glad there's a bagel place closer to home so we'll give it another try with other menu items. read more

Came in today after a long hard day of work in this summer heat. Looked on google for nearby places for lunch and came across this place. So glad I stopped by wish I took a better picture of this sando. I ordered the L2 lunch combo on the menu. Words can't describe my first experience. As soon as I walked in and saw the employees hand making the break in the back I already knew what ever I was gonna order the bread was gonna be on point. The best way I can describe how I felt with the first bite of my sandwich is when Jake the dog (from ADVENTURE TIME; best show ever!!) was done making his perfect sandwich. If you don't know what I'm talking about then I'm sorry you've been living under a rock haha. Just YouTube "Jake the dog perfect sandwhich" and you'll understand what I mean. After I was done with my L2 combo, mind you I took my time with this one, I found myself tearing up from how good it was. The sandwich was on point and was a great combo with the cold brew I had. After i was done with my meal it brought a tear to my eye from the goodness I just had that I had to download the yelp app and leave a good review and to my surprise I seen a couple bad reviews. I read a couple of them and I am glad this place is still around for me to be able to give it a try. My order was out in a timely manner and food was at a good temperature. The food and drinks are absolutely delightful, and the customer service even better. We had an issue with a previous order where items were missing and Bianca, the manager, handled the situation with penultimate class and grace. We've returned for the food multiple times, but our customer service experience has turned us into loyal customers. I love that they have a drive through, curbside delivery, and a cute patio with excellent misters. This spot is a must-visit for locals and worth the drive for those farther away. read more

I had my first visit to this restaurant last week to pick up some fresh bread I had ordered using their app. It was super easy to do, the pick up went very smoothly. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The smell inside that restaurant is amazing. The bread that we purchased was a sourdough loaf and it was tremendous; we will be going back often for more. read more

We live a mile away and love a good bagel and bread place! Went in and the smells were amazing. Tasted the chiltepin bread and bought a loaf. Didn't even look at the prices!! Also bought 6 bagels for $12. That bread is so amazing and addicting with a few spicy bites here and there. The chew in the inside and crust on the outside is artesian for sure. I stopped in for a lunch bagel and left with bread. This is a nice clean spot that would be great for breakfast or lunch. I had a rosemary and sea salt bagel with cream cheese. The bagel was good. A little rustic in texture and very good. I bought aome cheesy bread to take home and it was delicious. I also bought some small sort of mini loaves with chocolate chips. Bigger than a bagel and smaller than a loaf of bread. I sliced that at home and toasted it. I added a little butter. Delicious. They have a nice covered outdoor eating area with picnic tables. Just tried this place for the first time today per a recommendation from my girl friend (who came twice today which was also her first time that's how much she loved it) and I got to say it's pretty great!! The inside is small but quaint, and there's tons of outdoor seating! The thing that really makes this special though is the customer service, the staff when you come in are SO welcoming and my friends and I got to meet the owner Mr. Don himself + the manager and they were so kind and attentive to our experience. They even gave us some free sourdough loaves!! I am a huge fan of sourdough and even make it myself so I cannot wait to give it a try! The food itself was delicious, I got the bagel sandwich with ham and added cream cheese which was so messy in the best way and delicious. I also got the penasco salty coffee which was the perfect salt + sweet combo without being overbearing. Nope just nope! Maybe the issue here is the drive thru. I ordered a loaf of olive bread sliced and a 6 pack of bagels (3 plain/3 seseme). The woman over the speaker confirms my order. Once I get to the second window I am handed a flimsy large paper bag with no handles and a loaf of unsliced bread (no plastic bag covering it) and my bagels. I politely informed her that I wanted my bread sliced to which she rudley replied "we don't slice breads here"- wouldve been helpful to know when I ordered a SLICED loaf 2 minutes ago and they didn't mention this fact. Also went home and noticed they gave me everything bagels instead of seseme which no one in my household likes. 2 stars because the olive bread is good but for $11 a loaf I'll go somewhere with better customer service and presentation and with staff who listen to customers. read more

Chef even made a point of coming over and explaining where the different ingredients came from - and introduced us to the miller from Hayden Flour Mills who was sitting directly across from us and let us know we could buy wheatberries from his shop. The wait times that others complained about I did not encounter, albeit I went on a Sunday at noon. They flavors were nothing short of creative and brilliant, you won't find these bread flavors at your average Whole Foods. If I had one gripe, the pizza toppings were rather dry, the focaccia was amazing, just after heating the slice up the toppings were dried out after sitting for so long. The flavors were still amazing, can only imagine the slice fresh! The bagel was up there in one of the best I've had, unique it its own way, not like the east coast style bagels I've had in my travels, but delicious nonetheless, and that Chiltepin cream cheese was amazing. I'm in such trouble with Barrio Bagel and Slice only being a few miles from my house! I heard the soft opening had wild wait times with James Beard award winner Don Guerra being on site, taking photos, etc. I decided to wait until the crazy calmed down and today was the dayyyyy! I arrived around 12:45pm and went through the drive thru. There were only 2 cars ahead of me! I ordered the L2 (Italian sandwich combo w/ side and cold brew or iced tea). I asked for the Sonoran Wheatberry Salad, but was told they were out so settled on the salad w/ balsamic dressing.For my drink I had the Prickly Pear Iced Tea. I also add a slice of their Potato and Onion Pizza. It's $6 to add a slice with a combo. When he gave me my total I said "wait that's not enough". I know I'm overly honest. He took a few min and said the "add a slice button" wasn't working but he had it on there and could have the slice for free. I thought that was really nice! However when the girl brought my bag out my total had changed, which was fine I don't find paying for what I ordered but they added the slice on separate which was more than if I had added to the combo. Anyway, the pizza was FANTASTIC. I wasn't sure about it all together tbh but the flavors mixed magically. Unfortunately I didn't get the sandwich I ordered. I received the Honey Club. It was good, but I really already had my taste buds set on an Italian. I hate to be "that person" but I was pretty disappointed I didn't get the right sandwich and the pricing thing was bugging me so I called the restaurant and talked to Ally. She was super sweet, said she remembered my order and didn't know the person talking my order had said I'd get the pizza for free. I said I didn't mind paying for what I ordered but ended up paying more with them adding it separately. She understood, took my name down and said to come back anytime for a free sandwich and slice. IMO problem totally resolved and I was definitely going to be back anyway. You can't beat the freshness of the bread or locally sourced ingredients. Ordered a bagel breakfast sandwich- it was very messy... way too much cream cheese that over powered the taste of everything else... Also got a pepperoni slice of pizza... not enough sauce, not enough cheese and the pepperoni was over cooked almost crunchy. Again, the bread was good but I wanted more than bread. Wheat berry salad - mostly wheat berries... the dressing was not fav. Was okay. So sad so disappointed. Was really looking. Forward to this place due to the hype . Lastly asked for a cup of water (was thirsty and and also had our pup with us) the hostess told us that if it was for a dog she would need to give us tap water, explained that we were also going to drink it so she then said we could have filtered water. Never been asked that before... not sure how I feel about that. Over all, would I go back? Maybe... but just for bread or bagels- not for lunch. The service here was amazing! Its nice and clean and you feel very welcomed the minute the see you. The food was great. My husband ordered a breakfast sandwich and I ordered a bagel with cream cheese. It was early morning and I asked if they could make me a pepperoni slice. I told them if they couldn't it was okay since I knew it was more of a lunch item. They went above and beyond and said they could do it at 7:15am. Drive thru service is extremely slow. There was only 4 cars in it when I pulled up and it took 35 minutes to get my food. I ordered a breakfast sandwich on an everything bagel and that was very below average. They also messed up my order by putting it on a plain bagel. The fried egg is also not a fried egg. It's a Starbucks type egg. It doesn't appear that they are properly staffed to handle the workload and the food is below average. Really amazing new spot! We drove from Phoenix to try it out and it did not disappoint! They have a misted patio, curbside pick up, and a drive thru! We opted for the patio as we want to see the inside of the shop. We got a bagel and cream cheese and the bagel sandwich as well as the seasonal cold brews. We also saw that they sell their bread and flour as well. They had free bread samples and it was delicious. We will definitely be back to try the pizza/paninis. I'm always surprised when people post negative reviews about a recently opened business. Every new business has an adjustment period. (Think about when you start a new job but on a much larger scale.) We live in a society where we want what we want when we want it, and if we don't get it, we have a fit. Many people have no empathy. That's when we get a market full of cookie-cutter businesses and then complain about that. I'd take this fantastic food quality over any cookie-cutter restaurant any day. If we don't support small businesses, they have no chance of success. Get it together, people! My husband and I ate here today. I've read some of the reviews saying how it took super long for some people to get orders, but that wasn't my experience at all. I ordered on the app and was able to select a pick up time and it was ready right when I got there. I ordered the breakfast sandwich with bacon and added the chiltepin cream cheese. I think the ingredients on the sandwich unfortunately took away some of the textures of the bagel. The bagel wasn't toasted very much so it kinda got a little soggy in the interior. I felt like if it was toasted better it wouldn't have had the same issue. The egg and bacon were nothing special. Probably microwaved I would assume. However, I really did enjoy the chiltepin cream cheese. I liked that it was a unique spice that wasn't too overpowering. The chipotle aioli was also really good too. So glad to discover a delicious spot opened up to replace the Sonic. I had the pleasure of visiting Barrio Bagel on one of their inaugural days. We were assisted by Savannah. Savannah was truly a joy to interact with, her customer service was exceptional. She has an energy that was very inviting and bubbly (loved her awesome cat eye glasses too). Our food was INCREDIBLE. We ordered the Italian combo, I got chips and my bestie got the salad. We both got the black tea. I was full after just half my sandwhich (and we came straight from the gym and we're hungryyy). The black tea was GOOD. And if you're an unsweetened tea drinker you know when you can taste the quality. We saw other people enjoying the cold press and bagel sandwhich, which will def be what I try next time. Overall, incredibly friendly service, delicious food, and excellent tea. Saw on instagram and decided to try this place as it is not too far from me. If you go in, they have certain samples you can try of their bread, tried a slice of pepperoni pizza and i liked it, thick crust tasty sauce. Had to try the apricot oatmeal cookie, yum.
