Although the food is good, the service is less than. Since we were dining in I requested a small dish for salsa, and the answer was a flat out "NO"! I was told that the white paper cups could be pulled out to expand to hold more salsa, resulting in using fewer cups. All it did was create a round paper disc that the salsa leaked off to create a mess on the table. I still ended up using 5 paper cups. A small request that should be easily accommodated that was flat out denied equals a tone deafness to service that you rarely see in restaurants. read more

Dos Coyotes has been one of my favorite place to dine in since college days and it has always been satisfying both to the stomach and the mind. I like the comforting ambiance of the restaurant and their salsa bar is one of the best. I have tried most of the items on the menu over the years and they are delicious. I especially enjoy the shrimp or mahi mahi burritos and the nachos with steaks. Their salads are also quite good and portion is big. Service is minimal but polite and decent. read more

I found this website which gives restaurants in a selected area that do not cook with seed oils. Dos Coyotes was listed. So needless to say, I was super excited to eat there! Ordered some tacos, black bean burrito with chicken. Asked the worker just to make sure if they use seed oils and the Manager said "we do not, we use Canola oil" my heart dropped as Canola oil is a vegetable oil derived from rapeseed...highly inflammatory. What dawned on me is that most people including restaurants have no idea how toxic these oils are. Good people, well intentioned with no idea. Is cooking with olive or avocado oil that much more expensive? I must assume so. Bottom line, I'll keep looking for cleaner cooking restaurants. I'm finding 98% of the food we eat has preservatives, gluten, inflammatory oils, MSG etc... So so hard to eat clean and healthy in the US when dining out. read more

A cute little Tex-Mex place right here in San Ramon! I've been coming here for years and the quality has been consistent. You order at the front and seat yourself. The food always comes out SO quickly, it's impressive. There's a great salsa bar, the pico is classic and there's both a regular and spicy option! You need to try the salads, my favorite is the Adobe. All the salads are huge, plenty for two people to split. The greens are always fresh and there's a big variety of veggies used like jicama, tomato's, onions, corn, beans... Love it. I will say the chips are pretty inconsistent. Me coworker and I came here after work and I'm so glad we did. It'll definitely be a normal after work spot. She ordered the 3 soft tacos. she liked the beef and chicken tacos but was not a fan on the fish. I ordered the two crispy taco plate with one beef and one chicken. The tacos were very yum and just filling enough. The rice is so good and the refried beans are great to dip your chips in. There's a nice variety of salsas and the three I tried were very flavorful. There's also a nice selection of beer and other bottled sodas. Fountain sodas is also an option. This place is quite large, so it can look quite empty but you should still come try it. The place looked nice and clean except there's this one air vent that I couldn't avoid seeing and there's like an inch thick of dust on it. To management - please clean that. My favorite is their Yucatán salad and I have day dreams about it because as a salad-lover, this one is like a kitchen sink type of meal. It has jicama, mango salsa, bell peppers, corn, black beans, chicken, greens, onions, crunchy tortilla strips, and this delicious vinaigrette dressing. They serve it over a gigantic flour tortilla that I rarely eat because I eat the salad first so it's mostly soggy by the time I finish it. If I am starving, I've eaten the whole thing but I mostly eat it in 2 parts. Not ideal because things get soggy but I don't care because it is still delicious. I now order it without the chipotle crema but honestly, the only thing missing is avocado on top and it may be too much, but I'll throw it out there. I suppose you can also eat it like a giant burrito but at $13, this salad will leave you feeling full for hours! Did I mention it is beautiful, too? First impressions: slow service with no rational sequencing of orders, less than ideal sound acoustics inside, decent fast casual food. We previously had a outstanding experience at a location in Pleasant Hill, and it's taken us a considerable amount of time to make our rounds to try out the San Ramon location. I guess if one was looking for California fresh Mex and not authentic, Dos Coyotes is a very solid place to get your fix of Mexican with fresh ingredients. We opted for the basic quesadilla varieties one from their standard menu, filled with what they call fire grilled vegetables, and one off of their seasonal menu, filled with shrimp, crab meat and corn. They were solid, and especially if you like your vegetables, it was quite flavorful and adequate to satisfy your dinner appetite. Some may opt for a more cheesy preparation as it's more about the other ingredients and less about your typical cheesy quesadilla filling. Aside from the food, what was a huge turn off was the excessive wait for food to be prepared and brought to our table. There definitely was what appeared to be out of order sequencing and how orders were processed and prepared. We observed that they would batch a number of to-go orders leaving all dine in customers waiting, and then followed by a batch of dine in orders brought out to customer tables. This didn't really make sense as it appeared that there were sufficient employees between the cashier/front counter, kitchen, and other wait staff. Somehow they need to figure out how to dampen the echoes of voices, footsteps, and dishes clanging as even a child nearby was heard saying how noisy it was despite the restaurant was just about 20% filled. All in all, our experience in the middle of the road, where we left a little bit more on the dissatisfied side given the experience. read more

I used to frequent the Dos Coyotes while I was in college at Davis and remembered it being pretty good. Maybe my palette has changed or it's just not the same, I'm not sure. The salsa bar is still good, but the burrito is no better than Chipotle and it is messy because it is not wrapped in foil making it nearly impossible to eat the final few bites. Ordered a steak and rice plate for my son and it was more shredded beef than it was steak. It was barely enough food for an 8 year old. He was still a little hungry and a bit disappointed. Overall, DC is now a fancy taqueria and with some real taquerias around this place can be a miss. read more

Workers here are friendly, but one of the tall blondes that took my order wasn't overly chatty. Seemed like she just wanted to get outta there. The kitchen seemed to be hustling, but things just took a long time. I noticed that other customers dining in were also experiencing long waits. There weren't free chips to keep us noshing while we were waiting - just looking at the amazing salsa bar with nothing to dip them with. We got the Original Dos Tacos plate, with steak, and black beans. The steak was really tasty, and tender, not dried out - yay! The rice and black beans were also good. We were excited since when we drive up to Rocklin/Tahoe\Reno, we always stop by Dos in Davis for our lunch break. The setup here is the same as the Sacramento and Davis locations. The staff was friendly and were attentive to our needs. We ordered three kids meals, southwest burrito and a ranchero burrito. Kids enjoyed their meals, I ate mine down fast. Even though it is the same I felt it was not the same as Davis. The burritos felt that they were off meaning it didn't have the spice/flavor level that I am normally accustom too. The other thing was the green salsa. They didn't have any so I had to ask a staff member to bring some out but when I went to eat it, it was way too sweet. This has become a weekly after work/school family dinner spot for us. The food is always clean and fresh. We're partial to the green chile enchiladas, burritos and bowls. Having a picky toddler that is always down for their kids menu is a major plus, of which they have multiple options. My wife and I dig the fact we can get a good margarita and local beer with our food. I'm always grabbing at least 4-5 of the salsas from the extensive salsa bar they're always replenishing. Management is super attentive and service oriented. We've never had an order take more than 10 minutes to come out. Sometimes we're sitting down collecting salsas and napkins when the dishes start coming out. Hot and fresh food is often one of the biggest value props to me spending money on eating out, and these guys always deliver. read more

I ordered the YOLO burrito and customized it (they got this correct), my husband ordered a chicken burrito, we also ordered a side of refried beans and an order of chips. The burritos were good, about 1/4 of the chips were soft and bent when picked up, about 1/4 of the chips were still floating in oil, and the refried beans tasted like they were out of a can of some type of southwest style beans. So when our food was delivered I asked for a fork, the person who put our food on our table simply told me where I could go to get my own fork. I have to be honest this ticked me off a bit since you pay for your food when you walk through the order line and are asked to tip which we did. Always our go-to restaurant for tacos and burritos and enchiladas and salads and salsa... thank goodness they're open for pick and delivery during shelter in place. They close at 8pm. I didn't realize it was so late. I called them up at 7:53pm and they gladly took my order! I drove right over after I hung up and our food was ready. They had a list of available salsas. Just ask what you want and they provided them for you. Too bad they were out of the creamy green one. The food was just as delicious! The tacos were crispy! I wish I could give negative ratings for this cafe. Very disappointed by their services and absolutely no hospitality. We were group of 3 families and kids went to this place with a very high expectations. The manager, shouted at kids and forced us to get out of the restaurant. He claimed himself as an owner of the cafe and kept shouting at us. On asking reason politely by us, he literally yelled at us mentioning kids are making too much noise and threatened us to call cops on us. They are fast. Quick fix for hungry to mouth to stomach. 6. Very clean inside, cute decor, lots of seating options. They have 10 locations in/around Sacramento, and this is there first venture out of that area. With tons of choices for burritos, enchiladas, tacos, salads -- the choices make it tough. They even have Frito Pie, Nachos, Taquitos, and Quesadillas to add to the confusion. It's not authentic Mexican, and even though its says its "Tex Mex", I wouldn't say it's that either. When I think of "Tex Mex", I think "Chile Con Queso" and Crispy Brisket Tacos. It's Southwestern Mexican, or Mex-American. I've tried a number of things: burritos (4.0-4.5 stars), nachos (3.5-4.0 stars), and enchilada pie (4.0 stars) -- all in all, very satisfying. This is my new local Mex place in San Ramon. There is plenty of seating available if you decide to dine in & would like to socially distance. Although there wasn't any servers, there was always someone bussing tables and making sure things were running smoothly. Price: I ordered a "howlin tostada" with a cup of water & my husband ordered the "border chicken burrito" with a bottled Shirley temple. The total came out to $29.53. Wait: it didn't take a long time to order our food. It took about 20 mins for our food to be delivered to our table. Tacos and burritos we typically order the shrimp tacos or grilled fish or salmon burritos with the black beans. Appetizers are ok, our standard is the guacamole and chips. They have a nice salsa bar. You place your order and they bring it to your tables. They have typical Mexican beers, cocktails and margaritas. Open seating, so scramble to find a table. Service, what service? They drop off your food and that's the last you see of them, if you have a problem with the food/order, you have to go back to the counter to get it fixed. read more

I'm not sure what everyone else has been ordering, but my paella burrito was excellent. It was stuffed full of fresh mahi and grilled shrimp, as well as rice and some flavorful sauce. The burrito was huge and served with a side of chips. The restaurant has a salsa and pico de gallo bar, so you can dress up your meal as you see fit. If you're looking for "authentic Mexican food" , this ain't the place for you. However, I would rank this place above Chipotle or Baja Fresh. The restaurant is fast casual, and I received my order in about 5 to 7 minutes. The staff are incredibly friendly, and the restaurant is very festively decorated. When picking up I was trying get some salsa from your salsa bar to go and honestly the containers you have out ridiculously small. Salsa is cheap bro... Leo at least normal size containers. More often than not the GM is rude and seems to act like he has better things to do than help take orders and often gets distressed when asking for a to go container, because "it's costs him money" I love the mango burrito and really wanted it today so I sucked it up knowing I'd have to face him. However I was pleasantly surprised with new team member Jeff who was a breath of fresh air! A huge smile a welcoming spirit and made me feel like I was family at a order at the counter restaurant. I am so happy to have a New Mexican restaurant local to us. It's different from Mexican food, which I also love, and Dos Coyotes does New Mexican right. They have a base menu all year long as well as seasonal specials. It's a great place for vegans and vegetarians because everything is so customizable. I usually get the southeast burrito in bowl form, no meat, refried beans (vegan), and no cheese. It's delicious and filling. My kids get bean burritos, and my husband usually gets the potato tacos without meat. There is also a salsa bar with eight different salsas. The salsas range from mild to spicy, and fresh to roasted.
