We went here yesterday for the first time. And as I was ordering my food, the manager Jeff yells across the counter at my son. I understand that my 4 year old should not be hitting the wall, but the manager could've asked me to stop my son. Not only that I apologized to the manager, but he said nothing and stared at me rudely and shaking his head. And the way he kept looking at my son as if he was poison. My goodness he's only 4 years old. The customer behind me witnessed it all and told me that was very rude of Jeff to treat me and my son like that. All I can say is worst customer service experience ever!Jeff needs training in the hospitality department. I was very uncomfortable and we'll never go back. I also had my 8 year old son with me and he was very angry with the manager too. He's lucky that my husband wasn't with me. The food was ok, but not that great to go back. The only good employee I recognized was Maxwell and the young man at the cash register. They apologized for their managers rude behavior. I was so hopeful that this restaurant was going to be half way decent based on the yelp ratings and the first impression of the interior. I realized this was not going to be a authentic taqueria as it is more of a tex mex style cuisine. I ordered 2 fish tacos and my husband had a burrito. I really do not like to leave negative yelp ratings....but this restaurant was a big miss on cuisine and service. This has to be one of the worst tex mex style restaurants I have ever been to. The portion of fish inside of my tacos literally matched the size of my pinky finger. They also had put so much sauce and lots of produce to try to hide the fact that the fish portion was not even child-size. I love Dos coyotes for many reasons. First of all, they have some crazy quick service. My food comes in about 5 minutes usually which is insane, especially if they are busy. The food always tastes pretty good and the value is decent. They have a nice drink machine but they are very strict about water cups vs. soda cups. read more

Fresh, tasty ingredients are used in hearty portions. The dishes are hearty but never greasy. My husband usually gets the steak Navajo nachos. The steak is well cooked and not too fatty or chewy. I usually get the delicious shrimp burrito, which includes a side of tortilla chips. I've also recently discovered the green chile enchiladas, which comes with a side of beans, rice and chips. 2. The prices are hard to beat for this quality. You can get a meal for $12 or less and you might have enough left over to take home and have for lunch the next day. They also have an amazing deal on drinks. House margaritas and draft beers are only $5. All day. Yes, please. 3. The service here is always friendly and efficient. You order at the counter, then your food is delivered to your table. I must say, their system is extremely streamlined and fast. Usually we'll order, place our number on our table and make a trip to the salsa bar. Within five minutes of taking our seats, our food promptly arrives. Hooray for great staff and management! This place is ok for a quick stop to eat food and go. After all it is kinda fast food. I go to this place and order the mahi mahi fish burrito bowl on lettuce and rice. The food comes quick and the taste is decent, but the fish was a bit either over cooked or not fresh. It had the consistency of chicken breast rather than fish. The lettuce and rice tasting ok, lettuce was crispy and fresh and rice had good taste. The plate does come with chips and this place is known for its various salsa. You can choose from habanero to mild kinds of salsa. Back to the fish, this just wasn't my plate, it also my friend's fish as well. We both had the same taste and consistency. The fish was rather tough, but not disgusting tasting. It still taste decent. So for value, this place is good, they offer alcohol and typical soft drinks. We use to eat at Dos Coyotes a ton back when I was visiting my friends in UC Davis and seeing this restaurant here in the Easy Bay was so exciting. It's definitely a trip down nostalgia lane. If you've been to Dos Coyotes in the Davis/Sacramento area, this place will feel like home. Same sort of decorations and same great food. This place is also way cleaner than the locations in Davis/Sacramento which I appreciate. They really keep the place neat. What we ordered: 1.) Border Burrito - Pretty filling and comes with sides of chips. They were heavy on the rice. Wish they had more meat inside but overall it was good. 2.) Cheese Enchiladas - Great portion size with two enchiladas, a choice of black beans/refried beans (we got the latter), rice, and chips. I really enjoyed this platter but the sauce is on the sweet side. Just a heads up. Also, the sour cream costs $0.75 extra which is odd. Luckily I didn't want sour cream on my burrito so my friend got to have "free" sour cream. 3.) Salsa Bar (Grab what you want) - LOVED this. 4 types of sauces that you can fill up on. I loved the pico de gallo and the habanero salsa sauces the best. Yum! Parking: Really easy to find parking as it's in a large plaza. Dos Coyotes is literally right next to Sprouts so you can do some grocery shopping after your meal. Staff: Relatively nice and the food came out pretty quick. We went right when the store opened so it wasn't very busy. There must have not been too much to do as they were just chatting with each other rather than working on various things. Granted everything was already very clean, salsa bar was full/stacked, etc. Really well kept location. I'm really glad there's a Dos Coyotes closer to the Bay Area. We had a game tournament several months ago and our team ended up coming here for lunch since we had 3 hours to spare between games. The food wasn't bad but it wasn't great; they got some of our orders wrong. No biggie because they fixed it, just took longer for others to eat (luckily we had HOURS to kill) Service wasn't too bad the first time just had to repeat certain orders. Came here again this past weekend. Tables and dining floor were dirty. Service was horrible. They get an attitude when you ask for stuff. If you're going to have an attitude when someone asks for utensils maybe have some out? Or provide it along with the meals. And don't have an attitude when certain modifications are asked for nicely. Another visit here, for the taco cravings! We went for lunch on a weekend and it was rather crowded. Food took a while to come out, but fortunately, we were not in a rush. DH tried one of their seasonal specials, the scallop burrito. I must say, I was a bit skeptical, but DH said it was the best thing that he had ever had at Dos Coyotes. And DH doesn't even eat burritos normally! They used real scallops, not those tiny ones, and they had a decent sear on them. They paired nicely with the creamy sauce and fruity mango salsa. Fillings were abundant. It wasn't served super hot, temperature wise, but that was because of the cold fillings. DH ordered it without cheese and it was done correctly. Chips were okay, but some were a bit hard and undercooked. Salsa is always fresh here. The roasted tomato one has a pinch of cumin spice in it. I got a crispy beef taco, which was fresh and pretty tasty. The beef had onions and other flavorings in there. An upgrade from fast food. There was a ton of shredded lettuce and cheese on top. Too much lettuce. It kept falling off! I wished they melted the cheese over the meat and put the lettuce on top. Oh well. The other taco was a shrimp taco with double soft corn tortillas. Like a healthier version of a street taco. It was better than expected. Overall, better service and they got our orders right. Pretty good value for the amount of food. My brother and his family flew in for the 4th of July holiday last year. Too hot to cook, we took a chance despite my less than stellar first visit and revisited Dos Coyotes. Better food this visit. Brother's mango chicken quesadilla was yummy. So were my sister-in-law's steak tacos. My shrimp taco was yummy but there was more lettuce than shrimp. Loved the mahi mahi taco on my last visit but today, the fish was dry. My mom and nephew shared a cheese quesadilla. My nephew was more interested in the side of fruit. My mom couldn't finish her half of the plate. It was a warm evening so we sat outside. It was much quieter than the deafeningly loud dining room inside the restaurant. read more

Great food! Manager and staff are awesome and friendly! The hubs and I love going there! You can't beat the Cheese Enchiladas with Ranchero Sauce. The Cheese Enchiladas with the Red Sauce are excellent as well. The unique thing about Dos Coyotes is that if you are a regular, after a while, you are greeted by name! Another awesome feature of their food is that if you get the food via a take-out order, it stays hot! At least for the Enchilada dinners, they come in an aluminum-type pie plate topped with a plastic cover. It keeps things nice and warm. Also, Dos Coyotes supports the communities and its schools by often having special events where if you bring in a coupon, it will donate a portion of the proceeds to a sports team or school. However my wife and I came in for lunch today to sit down and ordered a wet burrito with steak and the chicken fajita salad and were very surprised on how bad the food was. The wet steak burrito (forget the exact name) was supposed to be cooked with melted cheese, but it was cold inside and the steak was very chewy. Somewhat comparable to what I would give my dog. My wife brought it back to them and she was told it was the ingredient inside. No, it was not. I can tell you right now it was NOT fresh ingredients like cold sour cream. It was like biting into a partially frozen burrito but was weird since they do not microwave their food. The chicken fajita burrito was much much worse. The ingredients were definitely not fresh and the veggies literally tasted the same. The mushrooms were nasty and spongy. It was literally an open burrito (yes, with open tortilla on bottom of plate) with a little bit of salad (including dressing) cold soggy veggies and bad chicken. It was the worst Mexican food I have ever had in my life without a doubt. 2 stars because the burritos (to go) are usually not bad but we will not be returning. read more

I like this place for lunch. Today we tried it out for dinner. It's not as busy as their lunch traffic, which is good. The food is served warm without too much wait. It's reasonably priced. And it tastes good. The kids menu has a good variety of dishes for kids to have a complete meal. It ranges from$3 to $5. It doesn't include the drink, but it includes meat, fruits, and rice/tortilla. I've tried their Albuquerque Salad and Santa Fe Nacho. Albuquerque Salad: 4 Stars This salad is HUGE! I barely ate 1/4 of the aerving and I was already stuffed. This salad is filled with veggies and protein. The salad dressing is light and was not overwhelming. I would ask for the dressing on the side so I can still take home the salad for another meal. Santa Fe Nacho: 4.5 Stars I opted for the regular serving without any meat. I'm glad I didn't go all the way. On its own, serving was big and was loaded with cheese, beans, guacamole, sour cream on top of the Blue Corn Nacho Chips. I couldn't finish it even withthe help of my two kids. I have ordered food to go a few times and it was usually pretty good. This time they got my order wrong. I ordered red Chile cheese enchiladas. They guy on the phone repeated my order. When I got home I realized they gave me enchiladas rancheras which are made with flour tortillas. They were nasty. I live in the other end of town so it wasn't worth going back. I really like the food, the service is pretty bad however. Order was incorrect so I brought it back to have it fixed. They told me they couldn't make crispy tacos with pulled pork so I chose chicken instead. I asked several times please make sure it doesn't have cheese. When the order came back, it had cheese. I asked for to go boxes, never came so I had to go up front and ask again. I mean, I'm fine if you can't make crispy tacos with a specific meat, just tell me while I'm ordering and I'd choose something else. They got 2 out of the 4 orders wrong, the drink machine wasn't working (everyone was thirsty), the "fixed" order was wrong, and it was a struggle to get to go boxes just to get out of there. Dos Coyotes is an icon for anyone who went to UC Davis and I half jokingly think they decided to expand to San Ramon because the huge network of UCD alumni in the area would get this location off to a good start. Many of our Davis friends in the area have stopped by for a bit of nostalgia and the decor and set up made me do a double take and wonder if I was in the Davis location at the Marketplace... everything looked the same, including seeing a girl from my econ classes that I hadn't seen since I graduated many moons ago! My wife and I got a Mahi burrito and a shrimp burrito, which we loved when we were in Davis. Tasted exactly the same. The food here is definitely more of a southwestern style and flavor- if you're looking for "authentic" Mexican, you'll be disappointed. But if you're looking for a good burrito and/or a throwback to your Davis days, this is a great place to be! read more
